Here we go -

Hpoefully in this one we'll all get to feel those kicks and turns if we haven't already, some of us will go for our 20 week scans, and we might get to look preg instead of looking like we've eaten too many cream cakes!

No more scares in this one though please!

Thanks for that Tex! As I said I'll be going through it later with a fine tooth comb!

Another scorching day then everyone! How is everyone coping in the heat? I'm not too bad, I've been dipping my feet in the paddling pool or just coming inside, our house is old so it stays nice and cool in the Summer. Have to say I did get a bit stroppy coming back from playgroup earlier, ds kept deciding to retrace his steps so it seemed to take forever to get home. Phewwee!

Chacha, I just used cotton wool and water for bottom changes too until babe got to the weaning stage. Breastfed baby poo just seems to smell a bit yogurty! But it is bright yellow and stains!

Well off to bathe some children, are there any scans coming up this week will have a quick check x x x

Hi Rodeo,
I'm not sure if it's because of the wooden floors but downstairs is lovely and cool. I am feeling fantastic, can't quite explain it, my hair and skin are looking good!!! Are these really the great 'middle months' then?
I wanna party!!!!

tessasmum · 27/06/2005 19:33

ChaCha - party for all you're worth girl, it gets harder as you get bigger!!

21 weeks

rodeo1 · 27/06/2005 22:08

Has anyone got BBC3? Did anyone watch Desperate Midwives tonight? If you did, Sue (the one who did the home visits and twin birth) is my lovely midwife!!! The repeat is on Thursday at 10.30!

Glad you are feeling great Chacha! You deserve it after your awful trials with ms!!

Night x x x

I watched it after all the discussion about it on here, and was very impressed. It covered all the bits they normally gloss over in other birth progs - like poo in a water birth.

ChaCha · 27/06/2005 23:35

Will watch the repeat on Thursday night Rodeo - always forget it is on.
Have had a lovely evening outdoors and ready to crash! Night night all x

BEKsmum · 28/06/2005 08:28

Morning all, we've only been awake for 45 minutes and my son is having the mother of all tantrums so I have put him back to bed as I'm not prepared to start the day like this. Seems like satans spawn has returned earlier than his normal 12 week period - oh lucky, lucky me!

Chacha, good to hear you're feeling so well, enjoy it hun.

I don't think I'm going to get the glowing in the middle bit again this time, I feel absolutely shattered and can fall asleep at the drop of a hat and am still wretching at certain smells, still it will all be worth it in 20 weeks time!

Am going out for dinner tomorrow night with the girls as one of our friends from the school run announced she got married on Friday, how she managed to keep it a secret I'll never know so we are going to have a belated hen night - yipee. Tex we're going to Denny's Lobster & Oyster Bar in Chislehurst, which does a wide range of fish, have you tried it? well worth a visit, if you like fish of course!

Right will stop rambling now as the shouting, yelling and screaming seem to have stopped! Hope you are all well. Beks 20+2

BEKsmum · 28/06/2005 08:30

By the way girls after scanning the list the reason my 20 week scan is so much later than the rest of yours is that they do it at 23 weeks here instead - yah boo sucks to having to wait that long - Tex is yours around the same time?

tessasmum · 28/06/2005 08:51

Morning all!

Hmmmm, poo in the water birth pool, I'd forgotten that - dreaded doing it, did it at the time and guess what, really didn't care!! Bit TMI for before 9am probably, sorry!

BEKsmum · 28/06/2005 08:57

Tex what a great thread you started on girls names, have added loads to my list and had to lol at PrinessPeaHead and Marthamoo and have now taken Isabel & Isabella off my list - they were favourites but not any more!!!

Please don't call your beautiful little girl Maud or Mabel, that would be wicked, imagine what it will be like for her when she's a teenager!

tex111 · 28/06/2005 09:50

Morning gals! The name thread has been great but had me in tears last night. It's totally changed my mind about some names, like Maud, but Maud is still DH's favourite. We ended up having an argument because he couldn't see that it would be cruel to give the baby a name that was so often disliked. I think there were a lot of hormones flying around on my part but I really have changed my mind on a lot of names. I posted a survey on a US site and 70% hated the name Maud. So, I'm on the search for a name!

BEKsmum, I haven't been to Denny's but I love seafood and I was curious if it was any good. Will definitely have to try it now. My scan is at 23 weeks too. It's on 13 July. Then two weeks later we're doing a 4D ultrasound.

We decided to have the 4D to help us bond with the baby. Part of my freak out last night is that I'm just not as tuned into this pregnancy as I was with DS. I'm just so busy keeping up with DS, planning the house move and everything else. I actually said (and I blush to type this) 'I'm being a terrible mother already and she isn't even born yet!' It was a rough night for DH, bless him.

novadandypowder · 28/06/2005 10:24

we're thinking about a 4D scan, but we don't want to know the sex of the baby and think it may give it away. We'll just have to ask them to do 'above the waist' only i guess.

Meeting a friend for lunch today, which is still a big thing for me after all the sickness. I'll still have to ask her not to order certain things off the menu though, as there are foods i still can't handle.

DH was teasing me over the weekend by buying chorizo and salami, and saying how delicious they were - it's going to be hard to resist these things in mallorca.

BEKsmum · 28/06/2005 10:54

Nova have a nice afternoon, know what you mean about avoiding chorizo & things it was nightmare in Spain and avoidung seafood was even worse!

Ahhh Tex sweetheart, I'm sorry you had such a rough evening, you've got to call your baby whatever you want to call her and take no notice of what I and anyone else thinks. I think if it has special family meaning or it is a name which you both really like and agree on then go for it. One of my best friends parents were Doris & Horace, now that is a nightmare!

What a lovely idea to go for the 4D scan, I can quite understand what you mean about not bonding with the baby this time round. I still haven't got my head around the fact that this one is on the way and can't imagine myself with two kids by Xmas.
I think it's becasue as you say you spend so much time and effort running around after the one you've got that you feel guilty for not taking the time out to look after yourself like you did with your first and you have got a lot on your plate at the moment haven't you.

I had to laugh yesterday as Ben was being a monster and I was telling him off after I'd shouted at him the baby went beserk and was kicking like crazy and I just had to say outloud "and you can be quiet too, he doesn't need your help" Funnily it did the same thing again this morning it must be thinking "Christ I've got a right miserable old moo for a mum, think I'll stay in here where I can only just hear her"

Denny's is absolutely top rate and you should make your dh take you there once you've had the baby so that you can make the best of it and have exactly what you fancy. It's definitely one of my favourite restaurants in the area. Due Amici is also good but was nicer before they expanded.

Right I'm going to put my argumentative little monster in the bath now in the hope of chilling him out, then it's off to Microsports and then to my brothers for dinner as my parents are back from Spain for 3 weeks - hooray!

Take care and don't worry about the names yet, you'll know what to call her when you hold her in your arms for the first time and if Maud suits then Maud it will be, at least she'll be dignigied when she's older not like all the bizarre names that are out there at the moment can't imagine having a nan called Brittany or Fifi can you!

Beks

tex111 · 28/06/2005 11:08

BEKsmum, I think I must've gotten a whole new batch of hormones last night because your message had me in tears again. Thank you so much. I think you said exactly what I needed to hear and made me laugh too! I'm probably just focussing on the names so much because it's easier to think about that than the thousand other things going on at the moment. Hope you have good day. I'm going to go put my feet up now until it's time for my own little monster to come home.

BEKsmum · 28/06/2005 11:29

Ohhhh no, no more tears, have a look at what I said about my name on your names list that should make you laugh, and as they say most people will answer to anything as long as it's not too rude!

The other way to decide is the same way you would with your pet, stand at the back door and shout it out and if you're embarrassed or irritated by it then don't use it 'cos you're going to be shouting it out for many years to come!!!

Have a nice rest, better go and see what the monster is up to as he has just announced that he has soaked the bathroom - grrrr!

ChaCha · 28/06/2005 15:26

Hi everyone
Hope you're all well and enjoying yet more nice weather.
Just wondering where Bamik and Enthusia are? Hoping that Enthusia is okay and that dad is fine.
Nothing like a large glass of cold cola on ice...mmmmm!
Chacha 18+4

hamster · 28/06/2005 16:21

G'day all,

Just a quickie. Sorry I haven't got time to catch up on all the goss today. Just realised I haven't been on for about a week and a half, time flies when you're busy, hot and pregnant-doesn't it?!

Have been busy with work and dp has worked a lot lately too hardly had time for myself.(get out the mini violins! lol)

Anyway, how have all the recent scans gone? All good I hope!

My pg seems to be coasting along just fine ATM. I am feeling plenty of kicks, dp felt it for the first time last night.

Right, must go, hopefully have time to come on and catch up tommorrow!

Enthusia · 28/06/2005 19:15

Hiya

Just a quick one to say I am here and am fine!!!

Work is really busy, I am really knackered, DH has lost all motivation for work and needs constant rallying, the house is a state, can't be bothered to do anything, Dad is fine in hospial tonight to investigate sleep apnia, bubs is fine - moving loads.

Right better to go and write my resignation letter before I clean up and cook dinner, only got in from work less than an hour ago!!!!

Glad you are all well, speak better soon!!!

ChaCha · 28/06/2005 22:15

Glad to hear all is well Enthusia.

We are having some amazing thunderstorms here, have been sat at kitchen table burning candles and watching the sky...absolutely magnificent!!
I love nights like these....

yingers74 · 28/06/2005 22:43

Doing my usual out of the blue message. Hope all are well and scans coming up go well. Mine is on Monday and am looking forward to finding out the sex of this baby, will let you know.

and how do you get a 4D scan? is it a private thing? And what is this name thread you guys are talking about, goodness knows I need some inspiration!

My little bump is kicking like crazy, the other day I had my dd on my knee and the little thing kicked so hard, i nearly dropped her! Perhaps it is a boy!

will try to look in more regularly, now the m/s has subsided and i am really beginning to believe that this is happening!

novadandypowder · 29/06/2005 09:55

Morning ladies. I cannot praise enough the gro-bag i have got - i any of you are having problems getting comfy it is the best! If only it was able to stop me going to the loo several times a night i would be getting a decent nights sleep.

Off to visit a friend today who has a four month old, so getting in some baby practice. I think she's already got a big bag of clothing that he's grown out of which she's going to give to me - hurrah.

Have a good day y'all (as you can tell i'm beginning to feel a bit more sprightly - although the tube ride across london will probably kill that)

novadandypowder · 29/06/2005 09:58

Oh, and Yingers, if you live in London the Portland do 4D scans (can't remember price but def. below £300). Otherwise see if there are any private maternity hospitals near you that do them for outpatients, or look in the back of baby mags as there are often ads there.

ChaCha · 29/06/2005 09:59

Hi Yingers - we haven't see you for ages, nice to see you back

Have a good day Nova, am off work today and spending it at home with my MIL, still feeling good can't quite believe i was so ill during the first 12-14wks!! Am still eating for England and getting lots of rest, only 3 weeks (actually 11 working days) left of work....am so excited!!

novadandypowder · 29/06/2005 10:13

chacha i know what you mean - i seem to have completely forgotten just how horrendous i felt from wks 7 - 17. 11 working days, hurrah!! I felt really lost when i stopped working, partly because i was mainly housebound, but now i'm loving it. I've decided to volunteer one day a week at the local animal home (we got our 3 cats from there) to keep me occupied, and so brain doesn't turn to complete baby mush. Hoping to do an NVQ in animal care next year, needed career change as the TV industry is soul destroying.
