annamama we have that book you mentioned, bought if for ds who was 2.4 when i preg with DD, he loved it, he still reads it with us now,

i too can't get enough of fruit!!!!!! isn't it strange how many of us are like this!!!! Nectarinesa re my biggest followed by apples which normally i can take or leave!!!!LOL

have a great bank holiday weekend everyone xxx

Tigresswoods · 28/08/2009 08:47

Hi all, now that I am 13 and a bit weeks I am really letting myself get excited, I am sure many of you feel the same way. Also the expectant grandparents are also VERY excited. On one side there are 10 grandchildren and even some great grandchildren but on the other side (mine) I am first!!! Woo hoo!!!

A bit gift box arrived for me and DH today from my dad. Inside was a woolly sheep (he lives in a place near lots os sheep) and a bunch of baby clothes.

I have baby clothes?!?!?

swingsofglory · 28/08/2009 09:02

Hi all,

Hope everyone is feeling well. Sadly I'm not getting any urge to eat fruit at all. Chocolate cookies on the other hand are going down very well indeed. I also think that's something to do with shoving DD's pushchair up and down hills on our holiday - my body's clearly trying to not actually lose weight right now.

You'd better believe it with the clothes TigressWoods - by the time your baby actually arrives you will probably have a wardrobe-full donated by other people. We deliberately haven't told my SIL yet as last time round she came up with FOUR BOXES of baby clothes and equipment. We had to tell her to stop as we did actually want to choose some things ourselves.

This time round I have so far been given a cardigan and hat knitted by my mother for the new baby. Seeing as I'm only 11 1/2 weeks and haven't had my scan yet I'm thinking that's pretty early but there's no stopping her!

pureeandpearls · 28/08/2009 09:05

Aren't they tiny Tigress?

Dophus- feel free to join me on SPD sofa. Have been having twinges since 8 weeks and got a physio referral at my booking in as they are starting to become regular. How are you doing???

I am also certain I've been feeling the baby for a couple of weeks- just the odd fluttering very low down in my (enormous flabby crepey) tummy. But sure it's babydeux. Was told at the nuchal that I had a 'very naughty baby' who wouldn't stay still, so not really surprisinfg.

I have a question for the professional parents: toddlypearls will be 20 months when babydeux is due. What are your thoughts on beds? She's in a cotbed in the nursery at the moment. It's not big enough for two kids/cots but has an interconnecting door to our bedroom so we are quite keen for the baby to go in there. Which means moving toddlypearls to another room, which we are curretnly decorating. What do I do about beds for her though? Is she too small for a big-girl bed? And when should I move her? Help!!!

(in case you haven't realised, I'm a bit of a planner. When midwives asked at my booking in what I wanted to do about the birth, I handed them my birth-plan)

annamama · 28/08/2009 10:26

DB - at your DD, yes sounds like she'll be a great help with the baby! Seven carrots?! You will turn orange.

I've got my appetite back which is lovely but now I'm scared I will soon look pregnant AND fat.

SHHR - good that your son likes that book, I will def order it then. MummyElk - I saw that book too but I thought it'd be a bit confusing about the house bit... but it looks nice.

P&P - re beds, will the new baby sleep in your room in a moses basket for a few months? If so your DD should be big enough for a "real" bed after that (that's what we're doing), or she might be anyway. Katie Price's DD who's just turned 2 sleeps in a real bed, I saw that last night on TV! I like planning too. Me: "What about car seats when new baby outgrows baby seat, will DD have outgrown hers?" DH: "I don't know and I don't think that's important right now." Eh ok I guess you're right.

help can't find the bit about annamamma/shhr's book - what was it called?
Haven't actually looked at any yet, just passing on what people have told me!
Cleaner here today - first day. despite her best efforts DD is following her around undoing a lot of her work makes me feel a LOT better!! Perhaps I'm NOT actually a slattern!!!!

annamama · 28/08/2009 10:47

What's in your tummy mummy? Link here

My DSs also liked "When I was small" that explains a bit about all the great things that big children CAN do and all the things that babies need help with. I suppose it does not explain about pregnancy as such, it just helps prepare older children for the arrival of a screaming, attention demanding alien who they cannot play football with, LOL!

Re beds, we moved DS1 into big bed aged 3 which of course ment that DS2 then 2 years had to have a big bed too!! Worked absolutely fine, he had a bedrail for a few weeks, then he slep without it but had a duvet lying on the floor infront of bed but only "landed" on it once or 2x, he never woke when he fell out of bed. We would find him there lying on the floor in the morning.

Fruit count today: 0
Haribo sour wine gums thingies: half a bag

Sympathies to all SPD sufferes. It is horrible. The SPD sofa sounds like a fab idea. Hope things aren't too bad for you all.

RetroMum1 · 28/08/2009 12:58

Hi All

Sorry I haven't posted for a while i have been trying to keep up while propping for 5 operas. My production manager told me it would fine to do with a toddler, well week 1 and it isn't. National theatre props hire weren't too impressed when I turned up to the precious store with a spotty 22 month old!!.

I am also thinking about the bed situation and was thinking of getting bunk beds for when the second one arrives. DD is in a cot bed at the moment and LO will be in our room for first 6 months but i thought it would be nice for her to start on lower bunk and then she will know that when she is big she will go up to the top and her brother/sister will go underneath!. That's my theory/hope anyway!!!.

I have also discussed car seats with DH too and have worked out DD will still be in her so we will buy another Tobi, and I've even worked out the pattern!.

Sorry for those with SPD it must be really miserably especially having it already. I am worried my carpol tunnel will come back soon, last time i had both arms strapped up.

Other than that my main concern at the moment is that I'm not pregnant anymore. I haven't been as sick the last three days and I haven't needed to get up in the night for the loo although I have been going to bed at midnight. My scan isn't for another week so I'm panicking slightly!.

Has anyone else's need for the loo in the night slowed down a bit?

annamama · 28/08/2009 13:16

Retro - I feel the same as you, not feeling so sick and not going to the loo as often (now that you said it). Apparently when the uterus starts coming up above the pelvic bone it doesn't press on the bladder as much...

MaxiCosi Tobi car seats are the best! We will have to get another one too. There are some funky colours out there... we have the orange & pink one.

Bunk beds... When I was a child my mum taught me that if I had to be sick to lean out of the bed. She forgot to tell me that this no longer applies when in the top bunk. Little sister woke up one night with sick all over her...

Arcadie · 28/08/2009 14:09

To all with SPD: So sorry - sounds rubbish.

To all with craving for overnight wee-stops: I too feel your pain. Dilemma.... when I wake up at 6 do i wee knowing that it might wake DCs or just feel full for an hour?

To all who care: Nectarine count: 3 and rising. Also apples..... Must go buy more..

RetroMum1 · 28/08/2009 14:13

That is quite possibly the most disgusting thing I've heard annamama!! I bet your sister has never got over it!.

Me were thnking of putting them in seperate rooms but all our friends with toddlers and young children said when they tried this they ended up wanting to be in the same room so we thought we'd do that from the start!.

I love maxi-cosi tobi's too our's is rhe purple flower print. We had the happy flowers print for the cabrifix but i have just found out that you can buy replacement covers from John Lewis for them, if it's a boy i doubt it will want to be lumped around in a pink flowery car seat .

Doctorskidaddle · 28/08/2009 14:39

aaaaahhhh too many messages too many messages can not compute can not compute

just posting so I know where I am and can catch up soon

so sorry shyla and mrssnow

off to read three trillion messages since last time I was on...

annamama · 28/08/2009 15:16

Arcadie - tip-toe into the bathroom, have a wee, don't flush loo (flush it as soon as everyone's awake).

Retro - actually I think I was exaggerating, it probably wasn't all over her, just on her arm or something... she doesn't hold it against me anymore!

DD has a white cot with pink balls on the sides. We have decided if it's a boy he has to put up with the pink!

Welcome back Doctorskid!

Iwonka · 28/08/2009 15:17

Me too Doctorskidaddle!!! I haven't been on for a week and I can't believe at all the posts! This is turning into a book.

Happy to say I had my booking appoint last Wednesday. My MW was really lovely, now I'm waiting for my scan on Tuesday. Slightly nervous...I guess it's to be expected.

It's encouraging to read about all the positive scans people have been having! Congrats! You guys must be over the moon.

Will be back soon. Must dash to eat my 5th meal of the day.

Take care everyone.

annamama · 28/08/2009 15:28

Hi Iwonka - my scan is on Tue too! Awaiting it with nervous excitement... let's hope we both get good results!

OP posts:
Pipsonhisway · 28/08/2009 15:29

Hello everyone

Also haven't been on for a while but, blimey, there's been a lot going on !

Retro - Last night was the first night that I too have not had to get up since I found out and as I am now 13+3 I am putting it down to that ... Was v. strange to wake up at 7.30 this morning though

Had scan yesterday and was amazing !! Saw Pips head, brain, heart, spine + 2 arms and 2 legs

Was a great relief that everything so far is ok as, although we were planning to get pregnant, it happened a lot sooner than we anticipated (on our honeymoon when we eating bloody steaks everynight, drinking too much wine and then knocking back the Anadins the next day!) and I hadn't even started on the folic acid.

Fingers crossed for everyone who has a scan coming up !

Fingers crossed

Iwonka · 28/08/2009 15:46

hello annamama, what time is your scan? Mine is in the afternoon. I am sooooo excited and nervous! This will definitely be a loooooong weekend.
Good luck, hope all goes well for you!

annamama · 28/08/2009 15:48

3.15 so probably about the same time then...? Yeah it will be a long weekend! But will try not to think about it. My mum said there is no reason to worry, mum always knows best...

TakeLovingChances · 28/08/2009 16:05

Retromum1 Yes, I am with you on the less peeing during the night!

Ever since I got to 12.5 weeks the urge to get up 3 times a night to pee like a racehorse just left me! I'm very glad to be sleeping right through the night now

T

Arcadie · 28/08/2009 16:18

those of you at the number of posts... you want to see how fast it moves when everyone's on Mat Leave!

Dophus · 28/08/2009 16:19

Peeing also easing up for me too - thanks God!

re beds - we moved both children into big boys bed when they were about about 2 years old. Personally I think that children's or cot beds are a waste of time.

We are hoping to move into a bigger house soon but plan to double up the boys into bunk beds because as others have commented they like sleeping alone.

pearls - my SPD is definitely back - it's quite random. I'll get aup a walk and won't feel a twing, sit down then get up and walk again and it will hurt. Went to the gym last night (first time in months) was surprised that hy bum does feel a little better today so I will try to keep going and see if I can strengthen it. However it is the triumph of hope over experience as I know it is only time until the crutches are back.

Had my scan today releived that all is OK. IT was a messy appointment as Frimley is a great maternity hospital with extremely poor receptionists. Despite repeated request they hadn't booking me in for my booking in (the hospital does this as I am out of area). Really cross as it took twice as long and everyone was confused. Important thing was that the baby was there alive and kicking!

My husband's glum response - so you really are pregnant (he did have a tear in his eye).

New EDD with 4 day pushback to the 11th

Arcadie · 28/08/2009 16:23

So I was wondering.... How many of you are on Facebook?

I've taken the liberty of doing what my postnatal club did and creating a Mumsnet march 2010 Facebook group. The idea is that people can "befriend" each other without having to reveal e-mail addresses etc on here.

At the moment it's a secret group so no one can see I'm on an "due in March 2010" group (might just give game away to my brother who doesn't know yet) but in a week or so I'll make it a closed group.

The group is called MN March 2010 and the way it's worked on our other page is that you request to be a member, mention it on here that you have so that I know who's for real (although why anyone would want to be on an antenatal group that they're not a part of would be a mystery to me) and you get approved.

If this floats no-one's boat because you'd prefer to keep the anonymity then fine I shall just delete the group, but if you're interested let me know.

Cheers , Arcadie

RetroMum1 · 28/08/2009 17:35

Arcadie I want to but I can't find it when I type MN March 2010 into the search panel!
