PacificDogwood · 21/09/2009 14:02

annamama, your odds are really not bad ! Mine were 1:18 when I was expecting DS3 (had him just before my 42nd birthday) and I did not bother finding out the odds this time: for other reasons (not Down's) I had CVS/amnio done in all my pregnancies.
I hope the quadruple test will give you more reasurrance, however if you go ahead with a diagnostic test let me know if you want more info re what it is like ('tis not bad).

I am still coughing, by pelvic floor is being destroyed bit by bit, today is day 9 of this lurgy - and I am BORED OF IT!! If it weren't for the cough, I'd be entirely well, I do not feel unwell, but sleep deprivation is baaaaad, gah!

To all of you still being sick at times: how rotten, hope it does settle very very soon. The only good thing about allday morning sickness is that it is a sign of ongoing pregnancy. There, did pointing that out help ??!

to all of you in the South East sitting in 21degrees C in the sunshine, not fair .

annamama · 21/09/2009 14:37

Cheers Pacific... (I will try not to think of this or read threads about it for at least a few days now.) Hope you get better soon! Dophus - I know, but you don't think rationally about odds when you feel paranoid.

The good news of the day is THE GOATEE IS GONE! Hurrah! Maybe my sex strike worked...

Anyone else thinking that if they don't get chocolate immediately they might pass out? No? Only me? and Hi Summer welcome on board.

mumbot · 21/09/2009 20:39

Thought you had a lot of pushchairs? Check THIS out!!!

Handy pictures if you're looking at buying a new pram. Can't believe how small the bugaboo cameleon is!

strollersandprams.com/stroller-photos/user/2/l/2.html

PacificDogwood · 21/09/2009 20:54

Please tell me that all these prams are not from ONE family !!
I am clearly not a pram addict, I resent the fact I need one at all and have no itention of adding to my "collection": Mutsy Urban Rider (v sturdy, great for newborn, but too big/heavy), Out'n'About Double Nipper (I luuuurve that pram) and Maclaren XLR (great everyday runaround and easily flung in the back of the car, can fold and fold it with one hand).

Hello, Summer , welcome aboard (we have same EDD )

hecklephone · 21/09/2009 21:09

Wow! Now THAT's an obsessive pram buyer!! Good site tho - and excellent for cruising 2nd hand stuff on ebay. Have been toying with the idea today of buying a second hand Loola Up pushchair as I already have the car seat and carrycot which would fit it from my three-wheeler. I figure it would be a useful pushchair to have in the early days when I want DC2 to be lying flat/in the car seat and better around town, library etc than the massive off-roader. Now I just have to run the idea past DH...

I think I'm now joining the rest of you whose bumps are getting a bit more prominent - it definitely seems to be protruding a bit more than before. This might sound daft but I had a weird tight feeling last night that felt a bit like Braxton Hicks - is this possible so early?? Anyone else on DC 2 (or 3 or 4 etc...!) any experience of this?

Still no movement though - can't wait for those first wee flutters!

annamama · 22/09/2009 11:02

Hecklephone - are you sure it wasn't your bowels...? I get that sometimes, really low down and it hurts & feels crampy. Usually followed by a fart! Must be too early for BH but they say every pregnancy is different...

I suddenly got this urge today to go to Mothercare and stock up on lots of newborn stuff! Nesting instinct already...? We really don't need anything except nappies though. (boring) Well if it's a boy I guess we need a few clothes. He will have to sleep in a white and pink cot though, do you think that will damage his gender identity for life...?

In Sweden there's so much unisex or non-stereotypical children's clothes, lots of funky patterns in different colours, etc. Here it's mostly either pink flowery stuff for girls or blue cars/tractors/planes for boys. I quite like Next though. And some of Tesco's!

Anyone buying baby things (except pushchairs) yet? Last time I had a very long list with everything from sling to breast pump. I really enjoyed ticking everything off!

I haven't posted in ages (takes guilty gulp) but have been lurking when I've managed to get out of work on time - it's manic at the moment!

In answer to the thread title I've suddenly leapt ahead in to the 'pregnant' from the 'fat' camp, so much so that a woman on the tube gave up her seat for me yesterday. Worried am growing an elephant in there!

Off to my 16 week midwife appointment shortly, really hope I can listen to the heartbeat.

So sorry for all of you still feeling sick. I feel a bit grotty if I'm late for a meal, but otherwise am just exhausted and grumpy (poor DH).

Pram-wise, was thinking about the Petite Star Zia (as is one of the few that fits in the boot of a Ford KA) but we've just been offered a hardly used travel system by my brother in law. Even if we have to put a seat down to fit it in I think we'll have it as it'll save us a fortune - yay for nice relatives!

Thank god our house seems to be sold and we've found somewhere else - though the postal strike is holding everything up nicely.

I've imagined a few movements but don't think I've felt anything real yet - not for want of lying still and concentrating though.

Finally a recommendation. Have started doing the natal hypnotherapy pregnancy relaxation CD as want eventually to go on their course. It's brilliant and am finding it a great way to stop myself getting stressy. My DH keeps suggesting I go and do it about every 5 mins!

x

Pingpong · 22/09/2009 14:33

rebeccacad my friend has a petite star zia as her lightweight buggy that is left in the car and goes on holiday it's good as it reclines, my Zapp doesn't, so bear it in mind for later on - the barely used travel system sounds great for the early days but I'm sure you will get fed up lumping it around when baby gets a bit bigger!
I've had my 16w midwife appt today at 17w4, it was the mw who was with me in theatre with DD (not the one who was there at the start and for most of the pushing) anyway thanks to another MN thread I learnt that you can request a debrief if you have issues with a previous labour. I've been getting my knickers in a bit of a twist TBH about VBAC v elective CS and really want to know more about what happened first time round.
Anyway to cut a long story short the MW is going to request my notes from the hospital and then come round to my house and go over it all with me. I feel so much better now that I've admitted to DH and MW that I have concerns and that I am taking some steps to resolve them. I just wanted to highlight this incase there is anyone else on this thread that didn't have a great 1st labour and is now a bit apprehensive about doing it all again.
Heard hearbeat although baby was wriggling around trying to go undetected! BP still pretty low. Haven't had triple test results yet - they said it would take 2 weeks to come in the post although if there was a problem the MW would come and see me.

What, Pixie - does the whole thread have to load on your phone, not just the current page...? We're only half way through this one! But anyway, let's start thinking of a new name.

Smac - that sounds really good about the MW going through your old notes with you! I don't know why the hospital takes them in the first place, I wish I still had mine. I know what you mean about not having a great labour the first time around... But I'm trying to be positive and thinking it will be much better & easier this time! I have low BP too, googled it (as you do) and found it's common in early pregnancy. 90/60, what's yours?

Very nice day here in Kent, was just out with DD picking the last blackberries.

Pixie, what is a Slitheen?? I why does it/she need zapping ??
As far as MNing on phone goes, this all falls under the heading of White Magic as far as I am concerned - dead technical, me ...
Went shopping today and hated it - I've never liked going into town and advancing grumpy-old-womanness is making this pethate dislike worse, mwah!! And no toilets in Debenhams (Glasow), you have to go to the ones in the shopping centre which are just miles and miles away. I am a pregnant lady, don't you know, I leak!! Well, am safely back at home, have achieved objective (battery change in watch) and won't have to go back, oohh, until 2012 I reckon .

PacificDogwood · 22/09/2009 18:37

Minicooper · 22/09/2009 19:53

Lol at Pixie accusing Pacific of sleeping with a Slytherin! No taste - surely should have been a Gryffindor at least?!

Have spent today looking after a friend's 2dc (as well as my own). Will not be having 3 kids!!! Was fine, actually, but just an awful lot of poo and snot. Nice!

Welcome Summer!

rebeccacad · 22/09/2009 21:22

itwascertainly... the CDs I've got can be found here: www.natalhypnotherapy.co.uk/
(though I got all 4 on ebay 2nd hand!) and am planning to do their course as well.

In need of relaxation now after 7 hours in the hospital following my MW appointment. Everything fine with the baby - heard heartbeat - but found out I have a negative blood group. I told her I've had spotting throughout pregnancy (which is why I was seen by EPAU in early pregnancy) and she said I might need my anti-D injection now not at 28 weeks as I'd been bleeding.

As I'm 16+2, not 18+ weeks, the ante-natal clinic wouldn't see me, but too advanced for EPAU so had to go to A&E. No-one knew what to do with me and eventually ended up in EPAU. I kept asking if they could just give me the anti-D (as I know they are planning on doing that later on) but they wouldn't.

Eventually I had 2 blood tests, saw 3 nurses and then a doctor, who insisted on doing an internal exam and taking swabs, even though I said I wasn't worried about the bleeding and the MW said I just had 'one of those cervix's. It was painful and made me bleed and he said 'everything looks normal you've probably just got one of those cervixes'!!!

I then waited till 8.15pm for the results of my blood test to come back. When they did they said I was negative for the antibodies, but they were giving me the anti-D injection anyway 'just in case'. Exactly as I'd been asking them to do since 2pm!

The final straw was waiting another 30 mins for the injection to be told - 'it's a big needle, it'll hurt quite a bit' while the nurse waved the big needle around! I even had to suggest to her she did it in my bum not my arm so it hurt less.

Luckily am only 10 mins walk from hospital so home already, only to find an empty fridge and absent DH. Grrrrr.

Sorry - rant over - tomorrow is another day (she repeats while searching for the relaxation CD)! My determination to have a homebirth is growing and growing!
