Hi girls! Me again. Well, we are having a little boy There was no hiding it. He was very well behaved and sat still while we looked at him. Everything seemed to look fine. So cute! An unrelated question - has anyone of you used Grobag egg? I heard they are fantastic, but are quite pricey...

boardbunny · 06/10/2009 21:24

Evening! Scan day today for me too. All went well but we couldn't tell what sex it was - DH was dying to know! I'm happy to have a surprise though so was a bit pleased when baby kept its legs crossed It looked at us straight on at one point which was very strange, a big round ball with 2 holes peeping out at us! But lovely all the same.

watercress - also loving my mothercare jeans, lovely dark denim, really comfy and a fairly reasonable £20. Find it difficult to get trousers that fit me well so am doubly pleased.

Have added to the list:

Great to read about all the scans, fantastic news, hopefully those of you who are still waiting have your appointments soon.

Not heard of a grobag egg elebereth but am intrigued as I have no idea what it is!

Nothing really new to report here apart from weird dreams and nosebleeds

Keep well everyone

stoofadoof · 07/10/2009 08:43

anyone else got sudden bazookas?? laid flat on back last night and looked/felt like i'd had jordan implants.... really solid! i don't remember that from last time!! am assuming it's something to do with the start of colostrum forming as am 21+4 now.....

have started getting indigestion too which i think is much earlier than last time.

good to hear everyones scans going well!

AngelaCarleen · 07/10/2009 10:08

Stoofadoof it's happy days for DH's and DP's I think, a reward for putting up with windy hormomal women !

Can't believe that I'm more than 21 weeks pregnant, it's so wierd! I was laying in bed this morning and felt my little Bean kicking my hand.

Is anyone else just loving being pregnant? Despite the wind and indigestion, I am .

hannahsaunt · 07/10/2009 10:20

I had a 4d scan yesterday as a favour to dh's colleaugue who wanted to learn how to use her whizzy new kit. It's pretty amazing stuff (though very much an indulgence than a medical necessity) and we have a fab DVD. Apparently we're having a girl! After three boys, it's quite a surprise. Sadly dh has vetoed my top (only) girl's name so it could be a long 19 weeks in front of the baby name book.

hannahsaunt · 07/10/2009 10:22

What I meant to say was they explained why I'm feeling much less movement this time round despite her appearing very active on all the scans - I have an anterior placenta for the first time and it really acts as a shock absorber - you could see it moving with the kicks but unless particularly big ones then it doesn't really translate into something which I can feel. Quite reassuring.

FluffyCoo · 07/10/2009 11:55

Ahh, lovely to see happy scan news coming back!

Have to admit AngelaCarleen, I am totally loving pregnancy right now too! Like you say, despite all the rubbish things (TMI probably, but piles are my latest develpoment - lovely) it's just magic at the moment - when LO kicks hard I can just see my tummy twitch now, I was sat staring at my bump last night for what felt like hours, watching for the little flickers and giggling like a loon each time! DH thinks I've totally lost it. I never thought I would feel so motherly - having never really been much of a baby person - but I am so overwhelmed with protectiveness for my little passenger!

fiziwizzle · 07/10/2009 11:55

hannahsaunt I have an anterior placenta too and I'm so jealous of everyone else feeling lots of movement when I'm desperate to! Everyone keeps telling me that I'll be sick of it kicking me black and blue in a few weeks but right now I'd really like to feel more. It does seem to respond when I prod it. I got a very strange look from the other pregnant lady at work when I told her this and she said she's never prodded her bump. Surely everyone prods their bump?!

kirsty we haven't found out the flavour, we're looking forward to a lovely surprise on the 8th Feb (HAH!).

fiziwizzle · 07/10/2009 11:55

Oh and congratulations to everyone on their scan results!

woowa · 07/10/2009 12:14

I'm also loving being pregnant! Especially this nice bit in the miiddle where i'm not totally shattered all the time. It'll be interesting to see what we think in about 5 weeks' time!

Maybe someone has commented on this before, but does anyone else's uterus seem to tense up from time to time, and just feel rock hard from the outside for a few minutes? It's such an odd feeling - anyone know why it does it? Wondering if it's either the uterus getting warmed up for being able to contract later on, or something to do with it growing? Or is sproglet kicking me and it tenses up?

Why why?!

Glad everyone's having good scans

woowa · 07/10/2009 12:16

oh - just noticed that more people are due on February 14th than any other day! odd

Pops78 · 07/10/2009 12:30

Congrats to everyone on scan results.

Fizi and hannahsaunt - totally with you on anterior placenta front but in last couple of days have defo been feeling more movement though dp unhappy to not feel on outside yet.

Thank you all for your advice about my pain. Still uncomfortable but getting bit better, have decided its gotta be growing pains. The MW I called was at hospital actually she seemed pretty sure was growing pains and I have my 22 wk scan on Fri so hopefully all can be checked then for reassurance no harm in the pain.

Have had tough few days whihc kind of put the pain aside. Its DP's 30th today but on Fri he found a lump on his neck and was immediately sent by doc to hosp for blood test and scan. Did the blood test but said it would be at least 3 weeks till they could do scan - ridiculous and couldn't take the worry so we went for a private scan last night. Doc said its a lymph node, will have to be removed no matter what as will just get bigger, still must be investigated further through NHS taking sample etc but seemed pretty sure even if cancer (he thought unlikely) very treatable so I am running with that in my mind - that all is ok that is - can't get too worked up as cried all weekend in panic and just can't live like that while pg for next however many weeks till we know absolutely all. On a sensible note to any of you who don't have life insurance or maybe even private health insurance its worth getting it b4 something happens like this as I think we will have probs now even if all is (I pray) definitely ok.

FluffyCoo · 07/10/2009 12:31

Fizi I don't think bump-prodding is weird - when i wake up in the morning, my bump is always rock hard and sticking up more on my left side (think bubs has a favourite position!) so I always have good prod then to see if I can create some movement!!

Pops78 · 07/10/2009 12:34

Woowa - cross posted but yes I get that hard uterus thingy - it's odd isn't it. My bump really feels that much more in the way and heavy the last few days, how mahoosive is it going to be by the end!

FluffyCoo · 07/10/2009 12:39

Hey Pops, what a worrying time Will be keeping absolutely everything crossed for you... hang in there chick.

Glynnispig · 07/10/2009 13:09

Hi all

Have just been catching up, havent been on for a while. Good to hear all scans have gone well we had ours last monday, all well and found out we are having a boy! He spent the majority of the scan with his fists up by his face and then wouldnt turn over despite the proding and pushing by the sonographer, which actually still hurt the following day! So we have to go back this Friday just to finish the checks, am really looking forward to this one as not so worried, cant wait to see him again! we are now having the big name debate!!

Im pretty sure I am now feeling movements daily the only symptom I seem to have at the mo is tiredness, so all good. Oh, I do have a hairy belly tho! Am definately enjoying being pregnant now, although still have daily worries! Hope all those with symptoms get better soon

Hope you hear that all is well soon Pops.

x x

motherof2boys · 07/10/2009 14:37

pops sorry to hear that about DP. It is probably no help at all but 3 male friends of mine had a similar sounding thing in their late 20s which turned out to be benign.
But you will worry.

watercress · 07/10/2009 17:34

Pops sorry to hear about your DP. Fingers crossed all is well, and kleep us posted.

I'm enjoying peing pg now (though someone asked me today if I was sure I was due in Feb as I looked massive - I blame my unflattering maternity top that a friend lent me!). To be honest, i do feel quite big now, and much bigger than I did at the same stage last time (I din't tell work until 22 weeks last time). I guess my body has remembered what to do!

I'm, also having nosebleeds, but did last time so no surprise there. And odd feelings in my breasts. And hard bump moments (I assume both are practicing for later). But no indigestion or piles thankfully. Sorry tp all of you who have those.

Great news on all the scans - I wonder if all the gender predictions will come true?!

ktpie · 07/10/2009 17:38

Pops - hope your DH turns out to be allright, what a worry for you.

Elebereth - Is the Grobag egg the thermometer thing? We just have a normal thermometer in DS's room, in fact we need to move it as he can reach it and it has a clock and alarm on it, I put him down for a nap this morning and after a while the alarm started going off as he'd set it himself. Worse thing is when he gets hold of alarm clocks, sets them for a random time, then hides them in a drawer!

I'm not loving pregnancy, I like it when I can feel the baby moving but looking forward to it being over, even though then there will be the chaos of looking after a newborn at least I might feel a bit more normal again.

Fluffycoo - lots of sympathy for the piles, I had them terribly after the birth of DS. Really hoping I don't get them again but don't hold out much hope.

2Happy · 07/10/2009 19:14

Hope your dh is ok, Pops

Elebereth - sorry, I don;t know what a grobag egg is either!

fluffycoo - piles here too. It's a PITA...literally!!

Well the nausea is finally going - there are even times of the day when i don't feel sick at all! Hurrah!!! But, of course, something else appears to take it's place and for me it's pregnancy-induced insomnia - I've had one night's sleep in the last 6. My head hurts I'm so tired. Even so, while I wouldn't say I'm exactly loving being pg, I had a fleeting moment of sadness this week at the thought of never being pg again. Scared the living daylights out of me as I kind of assumed after popping this one out I'd never feel broody again (haven't especially felt broody since ds2 was born).

2Happy · 07/10/2009 19:17

Oh, also forgot to say (tho pales into insignificance beside your dh Pops) - my dh got sat on by a cow on friday. They couldn't work out if it was fine or broken, so put a pot on and we're off to fracture clinic tomorrow to find out if he's ok or going to be in plaster for 6 weeks. He's can't drive or work if he's in a plaster so is at home most of the time. If he's in plaster for 6 weeks, we're going to end up divorced

elebereth · 07/10/2009 20:12

Hi guys. AngelaCarleen I also love being pregnant. This is the first time I got so far with my pregnancy andI feel warm and fluffy every time my little boy turns in my tummy, although I have never been a maternal type and have never felt any desire to hold other people's babies.
woowa - love the nick btw I think the hardening of the uterus is the Braxton Hicks, I get them too, they feel a bit like period cramps sometimes.
Pops 78 I am sure everything is going to be just fine with your husband!
2 Happy How does one gets sat on by a cow? I am really curious, because I never even knew that cows sit down...
And finally, Grobag egg is a thermometer that doubles up as a night light. It changes the colour of the light depending on the room temperature. Here is the link

LovelyMonster · 07/10/2009 20:16
