I still haven't got round to posting bump pic! It will be twice as big and I'll be needing a new one!

My belly button is flattening out yet, but I know it has a bit to go before it pops. I found out last time that there is a freckle really deep inside my belly button that I didn't know was there!! There's no sign of it yet, so I think it will be a bit before I am completely inside out!

I have been slobbing in one of dh's t-shirts today, and my maternity jeans, and tbh, I just look like I ate all the pies!! Must stick to the more clingy maternity tops I have which scream out I'm PG NOT FAT

Hope you are all having a good weekend.

Pops78 · 04/10/2009 21:39

Hi Guys,

Hope you have all had a lovely weekend. I have had a really uncomfortable one and am slightly concerned. Am about 90% sure it's growing pains but its really not nice. Any way I sit, lie or move I have this awful pain across my bump through the belly button. The only way I can try to describe is it feels like my belly button is being ripped /pulled from inside and then my stomach at the top of the bump just aches, granted more when I have eaten. I also have horrific wind which doesn't help, sorry if TMI ladies. I know some of you have mentioned belly buttons hurting but thought that was more when the bump was so big the button was popping out, mine doesn't seem anywhere near that. Anyway, long and short what I am really hoping is that you can tell me if this is all very normal sounding and I should just accept it or if there is something very odd sounding about it and you think I should hit the docs. I am probably being a drama queen as usual but it's so tricky having not done this before. Thx so much for any help, Pops

P.S. Insanity good luck with your scan on Tues and GL for anyone else going to scans thsi week too....

AngelaCarleen · 04/10/2009 22:19

I had a very busy weekend, on my hands and knees cleaning carpets (this is very un-Angela_Carleen-like behaviour!) thanks to the bunny who decided to take a carrot upstairs to rot (I have been trying to figure out what that smell was for weeks , she hid it under a low chair).

Baby has been going mad kicking me all weekend. I think the little one is trying to get out, and has decided that my bikini line is the place to do it .

DH sent me flowers yesterday, makes me wonder what he's been up to [suspicious emoticon].

Sorry to hear about your pains pops, I'm with you on the wind though . Thank goodness DH isn't here, he's going to be shocked at the fat, farting bint he's coming home to

Pops78 · 04/10/2009 22:28

Angela - LOL, my poor dp has been stuck here with me all day with his t-shirt up over his nose :-)

elebereth · 05/10/2009 08:00

Hello everyone! I haven't posted for awhile, so here is the update. I am going to have my 20 week scan tomorrow, very exciting! I am going to have the whole thing recorded and keep it as a memento. Baby is kicking lots and doing little something I call "torpedo move". It feels like baby suddenly darts from side to side or from bottom to the top. It must be very roomy in there! No wonder I look so big, my boss suggested I am carrying more than one, but it would be just too hard to handle, and so expensive! I have developed itchy spots on my elbow, inside of one knee and thigh and they are driving me crazy. Is there a connection between pregnancy and itchy spots? Who knows... I am going to upload my belly pic now! Take care girls!

fiziwizzle · 05/10/2009 10:59

Sorry Pops I'm no help on the belly-button-pain front as it's my first too and I haven't experienced anything like that. If you're worried though, why not give your MW a call? She can hopefully set your mind at rest.

Pops78 · 05/10/2009 11:14

MW sounded distracted on phone she just said growing around this time 21 wks can be sore and to take paracetamol! It's assuring news but still feel nervous as its so uncomfortable.

mawbroon · 05/10/2009 11:21

Pass on the belly button pain, but I do get a bit sore feeling around the bump if I do too much. Kind of like a stitch, but in a different place.

DS was so excited this morning because he finally felt the baby kick. It has been too hard for him to keep still for long enough before now, but he was lucky this morning. He also told me that he already loves the baby so much - good place to start from I reckon. I don't know how he will feel when he realises baby is here to stay!!

Still another 10 days until my scan, but starting to get excited about it.

I have decided to stop working in two weeks time, so I will finish up just before the tattie holidays on 16th oct. I know it is really early, but I am only childminding something like 11 hours a week now, and it is tying me down for four days, so I thought best stop now while I feel good so that I can spend plenty time with DS before I get too huge to do anything fun with him. I have been childminding pretty constantly since he was 11months, so some family time to ourselves won't go amiss.

threeplusone · 05/10/2009 11:25

HI Everyone.. glad to hear all the scans are going well.. I have another scan tommorrow, we are going to find the sex if the baby wants to show us that is.. Getting loads of movements when I sit down too chill out, some just little bumps others some big kicks.. Poor baby as I keep lying half oin my belly still, he-she does let me know though if it is not comfortable.
My hubby is going back to the UK for a month in a few weeks and I am dreading it as I am still tired all the time, but on the plus side he can get the pram for me. I think I am going to get it from Kiddicare, if I can find someone who will let me get it delivered to there house so DH can pick it up.. will have to sweet talk some friends in the area lol.
I am thinking of going for the Oxygen red Loola, do you think this would be ok for boy or girl,, I cant decide... but then think I dont want another grey one and dont really think I want black either fancy a nice bright coulour, but red will go with pink or blue acessories..
My lower back has started to play up again, if I lie on my back, in bed or the sofa takes me ages to move as it really hurts.. the same as with DC3, and the muscle in my right bum cheek spasms alot too much to the delight of my children and hubby who all find it really funny.
Hopefully will get on more often now, just got to remember to gert on the computer lol.

Take care all will let you all know how the scan goes in the morning, GL all thouse whose scans are coming up xx

ktpie · 05/10/2009 12:03

Yeah I have some maternity jeans! 3 pairs I bought on ebay turned up this morning, 2 pairs don't fit too well but 1 is great so I'm pleased. Much more comfy than my normal jeans.

Pops - how is the pain? I have been getting a pain on the left side of my bump, a bit stitch like but more painful than a stitch. It gets quite bad if I walk too much or are on my feet too much, I'm hoping it is just ligaments / muscles pulling.

Heartburn seems to be getting worse, took my gaviscon last night but it was still really bad as I was trying to get to sleep. Started with the night cramps as well.

What else have I got to moan about! Sorry everyone.

threeplusone - I would have thought red would be fine for a boy or a girl.

Mawbroon - how sweet about your DS! Mine keeps hugging my bump but I don't think he realises what is in there, it's just a comfy thing to hug!

Good luck everyone with scans!

FluffyCoo · 05/10/2009 14:31

Hello All,

My DH has gone into nesting mode I think. Basically he's ripping apart the whole house and re-decorating bit by bit. I do appreciate his efforts and I know that, by doing it, he feels like he's doing something constructive to prepare for the baby's arrival but it's driving me mental! The carnage is due to move to the whole of the downstairs floor soon, so i think i might just go and live with my parents for a bit. Actually I'm not sure which is worse

threeplusone - with you on the bum ache thing! The shooting pain really makes you buckle doesn't it?! Am reliably informed that this is sciatic pain and can be relieved a bit by not sleeping on ones back... hmmm! Not sure how to manage that - I always end up there! Pops, also with you on the pains - my bump feels like it's been pumped full of air and stretched to the limit sometimes, with sharp little twinges (like a stitch) at the bottom. Gets worse after I've eaten like you say - MW didn't seem overly concerned though, just growing pains i think!

All the best to those having their scans - mine was last week and I think LO was trying to be as cute as possible... scan pic just makes me melt!

flyingcloud · 05/10/2009 14:45

Hello everyone!

Pops sorry to hear about your pains, I get odd pains if I'm on my feet a lot or do too much, as Mawbroon and ktpie said.

Well I had my scan today at 22+3. I also got a definitive due date, which as I'm in France is just under 42 weeks, so they've told me it's the 15th of February, so am updating the list. I'm still hoping for a birthday baby (12th Feb).

DH and I totally cracked, despite being adamanent that we wouldn't about finding out the sex and we are having a little girl. We would have been happy with anything, but I was very close to my late father and I think DH is going to dote on his daughter like my father did with me. I am feeling quite emotional about it all.

Nice to find this thread, I was thinking I should join one and this is obv popular today as it popped up!

I have added myself to the list, due 8th feb so one of the earlier ones - we are having a girl (probably - they never guarantee do they) and she is making her presence felt on a regular basis - in the last few days we can SEE her kicking from the outside which is hilarious!

Hi gingerkirsty, you're my due date mate!

Lucky you with the baby activity, I'm still only getting the odd movement every now and then and my OH has only felt it once. I'm sure I'll be eating those words soon enough when I'm being kicked black and blue in a few weeks...

AngelaCarleen · 05/10/2009 21:10

Flyingcloud, you're my due date mate!! Woohoo, I'm not alone anymore!

I think my little Bean gets jealous of babies at work when I pick them up. Twice today he/she went mad when I picked up a crying baby. Poor little Bean

gingerkirsty · 05/10/2009 22:57

Hi Fizi, good to have a due date buddy! Do you know what flavour you're having?

motherof2boys · 06/10/2009 09:18

Pops if you are still concerned about pain why not try phoning UCH and asking them. They can probably reassure you on the phone.

Looks like I am going to be induced around 38 weeks (20ish January) due to past labour history etc. But please can I stay with you February guys?

I saw fantastic consultant last week who advised that up until 24/25 weeks movements may be very slight or infrequent or drop off for possbily over 24 hours. After that they should be fairly regular. I found this very reassuring as some days I have missed out on kicks etc.

I am with chinook on cars - Citroen Picasso or c4 Grand Picasso is an excellent choice for proper rear seating and chunky car seats and adult bottoms squeezed between such things. Also has huge load capacity and I think for a car they are also quite reasonably priced.

Happened to be in John lewis last week - those bugaboo things are £750 . And loads of people were looking at them!!! (maybe it was some of you ladies - sorry) - that is a ludicrous amount of money. I sadly gave my wheels away so will have to get some more.

Clappedout · 06/10/2009 10:03

Hi all,

Really glad to hear that advice motherof2boys about the 24 hr drop off/less frequent kicks, I have just had that but now back to normal. It was really worrying as I have had a stomach upset as well and managed to convince myself something awful was happening. Worry worry...

Pops I have had horrible pains every time I eat something and also terrible trapped wind, oh the glamour. I hope they have eased off now and you are able to tell if it is digestive type pain or womb type pain, that usually reassures me.

watercress · 06/10/2009 10:18

Lots of good scan news (a girl, flyingcloud, how lovely). Motherof2boys, please do stay with us! And welcome gingerkirsty. pops, hope your pains are easing. I second the vote to give your hospital a call.

Nothing to report here, just a lot of movement and insomnia!

chinook · 06/10/2009 10:58

Morning everyone it was lovely to log on and read all your news.

Dp took dd to nursery this morning and I had a much needed lie in. I still seem to get very tired and am waiting to bloom. Now I just need to motivate myself to do some cleaning. Maybe later...

Angelacarleen I had to chuckle at your 'torpedo' description of baby movements. I alternate between that and the 'washing machine' movement. Mainly in the middle of the night after paying one of my many visits to the bathroom. It makes me smile but also makes me wonder what on earth the little wriggler is up to. And if the liveliness will continue when he is born.

Pops - hope you are feeling better. I get very sharp pains round the sides of the bump when I twist or stand up too quickly. I am sure I read that the top of our uterus' are about level with our tummy buttons at this stage, so it would make sense to feel stretching pain there.

motherof2boys we have got one of those Bugaboo's and I absolutely love it. However there was no way we would have spent that much money on a pram. Mil insisted on buying it for us. It has proved to be one of the few good things about shacking up with her precious only son! My friend recently bought a Quinny Buzz for her 2nd baby. She loves it and it looks funky. Maybe you could check those out?

mawbroon enjoy your extended mat leave. I think you are doing the right thing by spending time with your ds now. I am trying to take advantage of the fact my company STILL haven't found me a job to do while I am preg, and do loads with dd while I can. My mum always says she can't remember the time when she just had one child and I don't want to be like that.

Best wishes to all and good luck to those with scans this week.

TheOldestCat · 06/10/2009 11:25

Morning all

Echoing chinook - it's so good to read everyone's news and welcome newcomers. Agree with everyone else, Pops, pains round the bump are normal. But you can always call your midwife for reassurance.

Threeplusone - how did the scan go today? Had mine this morning and all is normal with the (very wriggly) baby. I have a low-lying placenta again (same as with DD) so will have another scan in January to check it's 'moved' away from the exit route.

Updating the list with my revised due date (impossible by my dates, but there you go!).

Have good days all.

DS was a very wriggly bump and now he is a very active toddler! I think this one is going to be similar.

You can spend a lot on prams / pushchairs if you want. I got mine from Kiddicare, it was the last years model so was less than half price with the pram attachment free, it has been brilliant, it's worth looking out for offers like that. My friend has said she will lend us her double buggy so I think we are pretty much sorted with baby stuff.

I'm surprised at how fast this pregnancy seems to be going!

threeplusone · 06/10/2009 15:05

Hi all, I cant remember who mentioned kiddiecare now.. but if you havent bought your pram yet I would defo have a look at that site.. the one I want with everything and a few extras is coming up £130 cheaper than other places inc mothercare. That is also including the seat base as an extra for the car.
On cars I can highly recommend the Ford S-Max.. similar to the Grand C4 Picasso.. but on all the reviews a better ride !!. It is also slightly bigger in the boot. We have had ours for 10 months now and love it , we really were not going to get one as every squaddie seems too have one, even the dealer in the UK called it a Squaddie Max..lol. But I think it is the car we will stick with now.

The scan went well, baby is fine.. lying in an awkward position, transverse at the mo, with his/her face towards my back.. nestling into the placenta.. sonigrapher was laughing saying it was using the placenta like a pillow, bless. The umbilical cord was between the legs too!!
The sonigrapher did say she THINKS it is a girl as she could see any scrotum whilst looking, but it was difficult due to the umbilical cord.

I have another scan in 4 weeks on the 5 th Nov, so will wait till then to find out.

I had to have a GTT test last week requested by the consultant and the results were in the normal limits , but they want me to have another one at 26 weeks.. so need to tell mw, she did say they will prob want another one done.

Well best go and see to my tribe.. take care all xx

Insanitybecomesme · 06/10/2009 18:56

Hi all,
I had my scan today and so far all seems well, Both twins were transverse so there were s few results they couldn't get so next week I have another scan, then another a fortnight later.

The sonographer was pretty certain that we have a boy and girl on board which is perfect, though I will be asking them to double check each scan.

It'sgreat to see that the scans seem to be going well and that we are getting closer to the finishing line, all be it some of us a bit further behind than others
