Hi, Pelvic tilts are a good tip as I am having problems with backache already - made worse by sitting on hospital chairs for more than two hours today! A very dull morning sitting on my own waiting for antenatal clinic and then blood tests as well. Had to pay £4.50 (new car parking charges) for the privilege of waiting patiently that long and was only pacified by finally hearing the babay's heartbeat.
Have a good weekend one and all. We're off to Brighton to see friends (as long as I can manage to get round the M25 without a wee!!

AngelaCarleen · 11/09/2009 22:37

3+1 we're in sunny scotland . Your lucky with the new curtains, when we moved into our quarter the curtains in the living room were 3 inches shorter than the patio doors, good for seeing people creeping around outside I suppose .

I have just had a huge shock after taking pics of myself to send to DH, I didn't realise my tummy had got that big, it doesn't look that big in the mirror. Maybe it's all that curry and popadoms I ate for tea?

Bethylou, the pelvic tilts are fab! On monday I had a sore back at work, went to physio tuesday and it's been fine ever since, I'm crediting the pelvic tilts.

scoobyd00 · 12/09/2009 10:32

3+1. I'm at Headley Court with the quarter, whereas my husband is in Dorset. We'll be living together for the first time when we finally get to move.

Hope everyone is enjoying the sunny weather. We're off for a good stroll with the dog.

Hello All.

I too am doing my best to remember the good old pelvic floor exercises -probably not doing enough but oh well!

I fear that I am turning into a crabby old goat!! We went to my parents last weekend as it was my birthday, SIL birthday and party and Fathers Day (here in Oz anyway). I was planning on having a nice relaxing time but found that everyone just really annoyed me!! I ended up grumping off and reading Twilight (again)!!

I did get some superfab presents so I shouldn't complain. One is truly excellent though - a belly bag! It is a big oval shaped beanbag with a hole in the middle so it looks like a donut. It is for pregnant women so you can lay with your tummy in the hole and comfortably relax or get a massage. Belly Bag Not sure if you can get it in the Uk though.

I am generally feeling well and getting loads of kicks now - almost 18wks. Have my midwife appointment in 2 weeks and a scan too. I am finding that the bigger my bump is getting the more my DCs seem to want to jump on me for big cuddles! They seem to have even pointier elbows too!!

GuernseyFrench · 12/09/2009 19:43

Hi
Newbie to this board.
EDD on 16th Feb 10 but will probably have the baby earlier due to diabetes.
Good to read everybody symptoms and solutions and see that I am not the only one to get them.

grin · 13/09/2009 14:16

Hello everybody.

Glad to hear all well despite dramas and sciatica/moving/grumps! Welcome to newcomers too.

Can't believe how quickly time is racing past. I'm 19 wks today so almost half way and that doesn't seem possible! Still not feeling much from the belly - am a bit concerned as this is my 2nd and I felt things earlier last time. My friend reckons I may have a placenta at the front muffling it all - guess my 20 wk scan in a fortnight will confirm that theory but it makes sense. Does anyone on here have an anterior placenta (is that the right terminology?!) and do they find the same? Same friend has leant me her Doppler so have heard heartbeat so at least I know LO is still pumping away in there. And logically I know that movements can be felt later than 19wks. Any thoughts? Enjoy your weekends all.

2Happy · 13/09/2009 19:29

grin - I had an anterior placenta last time and although I felt flutters earlier than with ds1, I felt movements generally far less than I had with ds1, it definitely made a difference. This one's taken a while to get going, but has been going absolutely mental today!

mawbroon · 13/09/2009 20:06

Hi everyone. I finally got my maternity gear out and now I have a bump! OK, it's not much bigger than my pre preg belly, but it's a bump all the same!

Feeling great now, apart from the odd boak. Today I nearly puked at the smell in a public toilet, but I guess that could happen without being pregnant!!

I am feeling the odd wiggle now and again. It's not much, but enough to keep me from worrying about it!

grin · 13/09/2009 20:07

2Happy - actually that's right for me too, I began to feel tiny flutters earlier, it's just that they haven't got any stronger/more frequent. Thanks so much for your thoughts, that's reassuring. Were there any implications of having an anterior placenta? Just out of curiosity!

watercress · 14/09/2009 13:39

Gosh, can the placenta placement make a difference to how much movement you feel? I never knew that. Doesn't the placenta move anyway?

I'm feeling the odd movement, but not as much as I did with DD. I've put it down to just being busier and not having time to concentrate on whether I can feel something or not! I think it's entirely normal to not feel any movement until 22 weeks, isn't it, so as long as the heartbeat is fine, then that's the main thing.

Had a MW appointment this morning, and all was well. I heard the heartbeat, which was very exciting. I'm got a very definite bump now, and treated myself to a top from Isabella Oliver to celebrate (in the sale, and I'm justifying it by reminding myself that I haven't bought any new clothes for ages, I'll be able to wear I afterwards and it makes me feel attractive again).

Too much chat on here to coment on individuals, but hope moves/health worries/relationships are going well for everyone.

hannahsaunt · 14/09/2009 13:54

I'm 18 weeks today but not feeling anything yet (dc4); did hear a heartbeat last week which was very reassuring. Going back to work tomorrow for first time in 2 months following HG; not fully resolved but much much better so fingers crossed it'll all be fine. My ILs are coming to stay for a week to help with the transition back to a work schedule (dh is away until November). Need to get my 16wk bloods redone this week as there has been an error. Oh well.

2Happy · 14/09/2009 14:31

grin - the only implication is if you have a c/s there is a slightly higher risk of blood loss (if they inadvertently slice through your placenta on the way to the baby...) but I had an emergency c/s with ds2 and was perfectly fine, yet ended up anaemic after ds1's (forceps) birth!

Phee96 · 14/09/2009 21:20

Hi everyone

I haven't posted on the thread since I first got my BFP so I've got some catching up to do

I'm due on the 23rd with DC2. I have a DD who is 9 months old.

I'm still getting ms on and off. Some days I'm fine and some days I'm sick every time I eat or drink. Hardly gained any weight yet and bump is just beginning to show (not that my stomach had recovered from DD). By this point with DD I had gained nearly two stone but I didn't have a hyperactive baby to chase around at that point

Thanks all for your advice etc re movement. Got a proper boot in the tum tonight, just 2 of them but def enough to keep me going!

Hope everyone's real life stuff calms/is okay.

ktpie · 15/09/2009 09:54

Hi everyone,

I had an anterior placenta last time and didn't feel much for ages. Watercress - it can move, but fairly slowly and if it is at the front it acts like a cushion absorbing the blows!

This time I felt quite a bit of movement early on then not much for a while but now it seems to be wriggling around a lot more.

Still feeling fairly queasy and I think the heartburn is starting up now. Feel strangely empty and hungry in the afternoon but I think it is just the acid, will have to crack open the gaviscon.

chinook · 15/09/2009 19:33

Evening all. Glad everyone seems to be doing ok. Does anyone have their next scan coming up soon? Mine is a week on Friday and I can't believe it has come around so quickly.

I am getting loads of movements now, which I am just loving. I think the baby has grown a fair bit as the movements seem to be spread over a bigger area, with most of them quite low down. Right on my bladder! A second friend has pointed out to me that I still don't really look pregnant yet, just 'thicker'. Great. How sexy do I feel?? I think the problem with carrying babies this way is that things get more squashed up inside for me than for other people. I feel uncomfortable already. But I will be 20 weeks and half way through on Friday and then the countdown begins.

I was suppose to be taking dd to Godstone Farm this Friday but have obviously had to change the location to another local farm. One friend thinks I am mad to go to a farm at all. Do you agree with her or think it should be ok as long as we all wash hands carefully etc? I never touch the animals anyway.

chinook · 15/09/2009 20:02

sorry just remembered lots of you are living abroad so you probably haven't heard of Godstone Farm! It is a really popular farm park attraction which is currently closed as it is at the centre of a serious e coli outbreak. Children who have touched the animals and not washed their hands properly are now quite ill. My friend thinks a pregnant woman shouldn't take the risk of going to a farm. Is she right or just scaremongering?

ktpie · 15/09/2009 21:05

Is there something about not being around sheep when pregnant? Or is it just pregnant sheep or something? I'm sure if you don't touch the animals anyway and wash your hands etc you should be fine.

My next scan is in a weeks time, I can't believe it has come round so fast either. Over half way through now!

grin · 15/09/2009 22:29

That's true about sheep, not sure what or how though! In terms of the farm - perhaps if you're concerned you could do an alternative adventure?

LovelyMonster · 16/09/2009 07:53

Sheep can carry a disease called chlamydiosis (Sp???)which can cause their lambs to be still born. This disease can be passed to humans. It is best to avoid touching sheep while pregnant but if you do to make sure you wash hands well afterwards (and anyone else who is with you at the time). this probably sounds scarier than what it is but loads of farmers wives go on to have healthy babies. hope this helps

Clappedout · 16/09/2009 08:54

Hi all,

Coming up for my 20wk scan two weeks on Friday, I also can't believe how quickly it goes. Still feels like a long road ahead though....

Feeling some movement here and there, some days less than others but I guess that's normal at this stage. Boobs much less sore than last time too thankfully, I can still sleep on my front!

Glad everyone seems to be feeling well.

mawbroon · 16/09/2009 09:56

I haven't had my scan date yet, but the midwife at booking in did say that they send out the appointments at fairly short notice. I am 16+4 so i guess it could be up to almost another 4 weeks yet.

I am feeling good just now. DS is sleeping well and my early pregnancy fatigue is over, so I almost feel normal! It's a very short window until I start feeling big though I guess. With ds, I spent a lot of my waking hours thinking about the baby and worrying about stuff, and some days now I completely forget that I am pg!!

I am still feeling enough wiggles in there to keep me happy though.

Glynnispig · 16/09/2009 14:20

Hi all

I think I would probably avoid going to the farm, but then I do worry about anything and everything!

My scan is a week on Monday, cant wait, but am also very nervous. Havent really felt much movement, thought I possibly did the other night but not sure. It is my first baby tho so am guessing this is normal?! Am 18+3 now.

Have been feeling fine, apart from tiredness. Also had a few tum pains but think that is from the stretching thats going on?!

Hope everyone is well

ktpie · 16/09/2009 16:58

Mawbroon - I know what you mean about forgetting you are pregnant, I am a lot more laid back about it all this time, I'm a little ashamed to say I haven't even dug out my pregnancy books yet, last time I was poring over them all the time, but then again it was only just over a year ago so I can probably remember what they say!

If anyone has started buying baby things (is it too early? I don't know!) Asda have a baby event thing on at the moment, just ordered a lightweight pushchair for DS, his is too heavy for me to heave in and out of the van anymore.

watercress · 16/09/2009 18:00

I'm gutted about Godstone Farm, as we go there all the time and it's always spotless with loads of signs up about handwashing. I really hope it doesn't suffer as a result of this.

I am also forgetting I'm pg. Every morning in the shower I think fleetingly that I must lose weight then remember the bump is there for a reason!

I'm not buying any baby stuff yet, but I think I'm pretty sorted from last time round and various donations.

Glad people are feeling better (generally - apologies to those who aren't) and how exciting about 20 week scans. Are people finding out gender and will they say on here if so?
