Ninjacat · 31/08/2009 22:16

Turtle sorry things have gotten to that point. It might help to think back to when you and DH first met. Did you think "this is the man I want to spend the rest of my life arguing with and making each other unhappy?" I imagine not. So even if this is a permanent seperation it might be good to try and tap into some of the positive feelings you've felt for DH in the past to minimise the worst of the hurt and anger that can flare up in these situations. As everyone else has said there is lots of support for you here.

Welcome newbies.

Skorps I was camped at offers Dyke this weekend.

BBL Finished it! What next? I'm contemplating some Donna Tart.

BeckyBendyLegs · 31/08/2009 22:19

Ninjacat have you read The Secret History by Donna Tart? If not - READ IT!

I can't stop singing Proclaimers songs...must go to bed zzzz.

Just back from Lancaster and survived the journey pretty well. However, I seem to have started that 3rd trimester thing of swelling up when sitting for too long - feet and hands too. I was pretty disappointed to discover that I can no longer comfortably get my feet up on the dashboard to relieve said swelling due to this ever enlarging belly. A great disappointment, especially after managing to fit into a size 12 dress (shhh it was stretchy jersey-type fabric).

I'm getting lots of movement above my pubic bone these days - sweeping movements like arms flailing around. That said, the feet have been remarkably quiet of late up top so I'm a bit concerned about that. I can't wait to sleep on my superduper mattress again tonight. Premier Inn ones are nice and firm, but that's not great for dodgy pelvises I reckon.

turtle SOOOO sorry to hear your tragic news. What a crap thing to happen at such a crap time. Stay strong and focused on a really positive birth (wherever that may be). The hormones and emotions won't let you think this, but it WILL BE OK.

welcome newbies!

hobnob57 · 31/08/2009 22:33

BBL we love the proclaimers in this house - DD's favourite song is "gonnabe" as she calls it (500 miles)- her dance moves are a sight to behold. They were ace live at hogmanay in Aberdeen a few years ago - you lucky thing seeing them again!

ErikaMaye · 31/08/2009 22:36

Turtle that sounds like a nightmare I really hope it all works out, and pretty speedily, too. Will be thinking of you.

Scarlotti sorry to hear about work. If you do work out how to win the lottery, be sure to share you secret to success with us!! Are you going to the meal on Saturday, by the way?

Skorpion that sounds lovely, glad you had a good time

Becky So jealous!!! Hope you enjoyed it

Trikken I?ll keep my fingers crossed that DP is as skilled as your DH ? he?s going to be shaving my legs on Friday!!!

Lemontop So pleased you?re feeling a bit more positive about it, but eek at the possibility of early baby! Eight weeks?! Eleven is scary enough!

Mummy2be welcome A couple of us ? myself included ? on here are expecting our first. Can relate to how you?re feeling entirely, am very scared, but very excited, too. I?m really worried that because of my age, and my illnesses, I?ll be letting my son down. It feels like a very heavy title to carry ? ?Mother?. I just hope I can live to up it!

Tomorrow will be an incredibly curious day ? am going to meet with a girl who I used to go to Primary School with (we weren?t the best of friends!) who had a baby at the end of June. Kinda nervous, but it was the best part of ten years ago, I?m sure she?s changed as much as I have!! She had her baby at PRH as well so I can quiz her

Is anyone else having nightmares? I keep having the most horrible, distressing dreams Things happening to me and hurting Bryn, the birth going drastically wrong? The worst one was when I dreamt I?d given birth and he was healthy and everything, but when they handed him to me he was dead. They?re really upsetting. Hope they ease off soon...

ErikaMaye · 31/08/2009 22:38

Hobnob we were in a Premier Inn on Friday night - I think I managed about an hours sleep over all, it was just so damn hot!!! And I had an incredably painful back / pelvis the next day, so think you're right about the matresses.

Mummy2be2009 · 31/08/2009 22:47

erikamaye youll be fine sweet dont worry, my fiance has 2 from his preivous marriage so he is experienced but he wont be around all the time due to hiss work he is tempeting at the mo so wont get the 2weeks off when the little one arrive.
so you know what you are having? when you due?

turtle dont let it get you down sweet you need to be strong believe me, me and my partner have been arguing so many time this days i dont know how we are together, maybe you just need alittle space from eachother give it time sweet hope you are ok

ErikaMaye · 31/08/2009 22:52

Mummy2be Yup, I'm having a little boy, going to call him Bryn, am due the day before you Sorry to hear your DP won't be around, that must be an extra stress factor that you don't really need right now!!

lemontop · 31/08/2009 22:59

There was I being all smug about not having any stretchmarks till I remembered I hadn't been able to see under my bump. It's not pretty!

beepbeep · 01/09/2009 06:23

Lemontop - what advicehave you been given re GD? I got results back fri eve andws really shocked when they were high. Got to go to see consultant today but no idea what they are going to say, do you know what your reading was? Don't think mine was hugely high but high none the less. Really gutted as had been told i could go back to MW care if results were ok (as everyone was expecting they would be - had had no signs of it, was just a routine check due t DS being over 10lb) but now really am stuck with a consultant.

Welcome to all the newbies!!

southernbelle77 · 01/09/2009 07:36

Really sorry but just need to moan.

I am soooooo tired. I can't sleep due to being in pain and so uncomfortable and dd keeps waking between 5 -5.30am at the moment and it is doing me in. Just feel so emotional all the time and keep crying Don't want to get cross at her, but why can't she just sleep???? She goes back to school on Friday and hoping that will make her more tired so will sleep more. Also, yesterday she went to nanny and grandads and had so much sweets I'm wondering if that is not helping her sleep.

beepbeep · 01/09/2009 07:49

Southern - having same issues with my 2, not sure what's going on, DD slept in this morning and it was 5.40. Yesterday they were both up at 4.45, tried leaving them but once awake that's it. not sleeping great either and when I know i'm going to be up early anyway i end stressing about it which makes sleeping harder! DD starts preschool for full days on thurs, and like you, i'm hoping it might knock her out a bit! unfortunately she shares with DS and he's an early riser at the mo and will wake her up. Sometimes i wonder if they are over tired and so not sleeping properly? Am in bed by 9 each evening at the moment.

Mummy2be2009 · 01/09/2009 08:39

southernbelle ive not been sleeping since i was around 17weeks its a nightmare, my back i painful, my dp takes up all the bed, im having nightmares which dont help either.

erikamaye awwww cute we having a girl calling her grace i cant wait just scared.

oh also has anyone heard of these baby sleeping bags or has anyone used them?

xx

skorpion · 01/09/2009 09:17

mummy2be welcome! My sister used baby sleeping bags for her youngest two and sears by them. We're getting some from her soon. They're nice, because the babe is well covered from arms down without a chance thay'll kick the covers off, but also have enough freedom to move about.

ninja - hope you had a nice time. The weather wasn't best, but I really enjoyed it. I secretly love a bit of grim, grey, moody and windswept climate. Very atmospheric and romantic.

lemontop I haven't even thought of looking below. Belly looks OK so far from the top.

skorpion · 01/09/2009 09:17

Oops, that should have been swears by them...

raggie · 01/09/2009 09:30

Morning all - welcome Mummy2be

Well I'm off to work in a bit - not officially 'back to school' but got an INSET session to prepare for. Know I shouldn't complain having had so much time to rest and suppose will be nice to see my colleagues...

Sending positive thoughts your way turtle, hoping you can find a way to move forward happy in the end with your little ones.

My little bump kept me awake at the beginning of the night last night, she just wouldn't stop kickingandpunching wriggling and it really hurt. Even DH could feel it in his back when I turned over!

Oh, and Ninja I'll second BBL's recommendation of The Secret History by Donna Tartt! The Little Friend is good too.

Trikken · 01/09/2009 09:32

Erika I too have had several nightmares. I had lots when i was pregnant with toby too, I know its hard but try not to let them get to you. I had the opposite last night, I dreamt I had given birth to a gorgeous but chubby baby girl and it was great, but for some reason I was at my mums house and dh wasnt there, which is weird. hope u sleep better tonight sweetie, sending you happy sleep vibes!

Lemontop I thought id been lucky last time but then suddenly developed the biggest stretch-marks three weeks prior to the birth. was not amused.

mummy2be Id not heard of the baby sleeping bags until recently until I went to mums and she'd bought one for me, they look really good but ov as not used it I dont know how well they work.

skorpion · 01/09/2009 09:48

hobnob I feel lots of movements, too. Some of them are quite painful, not sure if she's elbowing my cervix or what but it does hurt sometimes. They are all still below my ribs. Also had some period-like pains recently, presumably things are stretching and growing. I have my 28 appt this Thursday so will ask her about it.

Whoever recommended the support belt from Mothercare - thank you! I've been using mine and it really makes a difference when walking, the stitch is nowhere near as frequent or bad.

scarlotti · 01/09/2009 09:59

Morning all

welcome mummy2be

Am also in the trouble sleeping camp - have been at MIL's for a long weekend and was waking up each morning more and more sore. Her mattress is quite firm so not good for sort pelvises, and on the last night DS couldn't get comfortable in the blow up bed so ended up in with us. I spent the night on the edge of the bed with very little sleep!
Glad to be back in my own bed now and hoping a few nights there will ease the discomfort.

On the plus side though the fybregel sachets the doc gave me are starting to work, who'd have thought you could get to the point where not being constipated would be your main goal in life?!

baby sleeping bags - I used them with DS up until he was about 2. They're fantastic. You can forget about all the feet to foot stuff as they'll never wriggle under any covers, will always be warm (great for winter babies) and they also don't get cold during night feeds as you take them out in their bag, feed them then put them back.
I still have DS' and am going to be trying to work out how I can use them in this hammock we have.

Oh, for those that are following the pole story ... it's turned up lady dropped it at the wrong road (we're always getting mixed up as there's an ave and a rd with the same name) so now I just have to remember to pop down there and pick it up...

erika Am hoping to go to the meal on Sat, but have to say I'm feeling a bit nervous about it all now it's nearer!

Can you tell I'm not working by the length of my post ..?

weston · 01/09/2009 10:50

sleeping bags are a def must purchase, you will use them from 2 months till 2 years! grobag ones are best ones, tk max usally have them half price (also at bump23, thatcuteage.com) , 2 tog for winter and 1 tog in summer

mum27 · 01/09/2009 11:37

lemontop · 01/09/2009 11:51

beepbeep I was the same. All tests so far ok with nothing out of the ordinary. Don't think my results were massively high but decided to read into diet advice etc so I can go to my consultants appointment armed with as much info as possible. I started a thread in pregnancy and there's been a lot of useful info. Ket me know how your meeting goes. Good luck.
