Helllllo ladies

Due to large amounts of chocolate (I swear, if they did it by IV I'd been hooked up) I am feeling a lot better. Wouldn't I feel fab, but hey, so much better than I did. Gwad you lot chat so much

Lemontop you're so much more polite than me - I'd have been asking people in rather a loud voice if they wouldn't mind standing. I do the same on buses, especially if there are people taking up two seats for no real reason other than not wanting to hold their bags!! I hope you get seats next week. If you don't, give me a call, I'll come sort them out for you Hope your wedding photos turn up soon, too.

Pavlov hope you start being able to sleep a bit better as the weather cools down slightly, don't think this heat is helping anyone.

Laugs we haven't started properly down that route yet as was only the threat of legal action in this letter. Have sent off my replies this morning, will just have to act on what they say. Thing is they said the would reply in refernece to my complaint about the pressure selling, and they haven't. We'll just have to see.

Welcome back, raggie

Becky - LOL at you forgetting your phone number. I think at the moment I'd forget my head if it wasn't screwed on, am so scatterbrained!!! Have you tried the new Caramel KitKat Chunky, by the way? I'm addicted

Katster horrar for your parcel turning up Another MNer sent me some hypnobirthing CDs and they turned up today!

Pinkmich welcome back, congrats on the girl. Sorry to hear about the clot though, that sounds so horrible

I really wanted to do pregnancy yoga, but the cheapest they seem to do it around here is £9 an hour, and I simply can't afford that as well as the aqua aerobics, which is half the price, plus good for my ME as well as the pregnancy. So I'm jumping on the Wii Fit every now and again and taking it easy on that - just ignoring the bit when it tells me how much weight I've put on

Called the GPs today to tell them that I wasn't ignoring their letters about the cervical cancer jab - just that I'm pregnant. She was very apologetic, bless her.

DP has booked our hotel for the party next weekend - am looking forward to seeing everyone (and showing off my bump) but NOT the journey. Best part of six hours, because its Bank Holiday weekend too Really worried I'm going to wet myself to be perfectly honest Need the loo so often at the moment!!!

helips · 19/08/2009 18:42

Hi everyone,

I have been reading all the posts but there are so many that I never get round to posting my own, well not as often as I'd like anyway!

It is soooo hot today, I feel so tetchy, I'm not really a sun person anyway so am finding it extra hard at the moment!

BBL I know what you mean about being forgetful, this morning I forgot how to write a cheque, duh!!! had to get the women in the shop to double check it for me! How embarrassing!

Welcome back raggie and pinkmich Erika glad the chocolate has made you feel better, works everytime for me! How is your dp, is he feeling better yet? Have fun at your party, can you stop off on the way for loo breaks? It's not easy holding it in at the best of times let alone when preggers!

It is ds' second birthday tomorrow, we are just having close family over for afternoon tea, I will be making a peppa pig cake tonight as ds is obsessed with it! Proud mummy moment this week, ds has done 3 wee's on the toilet, yipee! and so the potty training begins

ursigurke · 19/08/2009 19:10

I did not only become really forgetful but also stupid: Was just wondering why your ds, helips, would have two birthdays . I guess I should do some brain yoga.

Laugs · 19/08/2009 20:10

Sorry, forgotten who asked, but I'd definitely recommend a birthing ball. I am just about to get DH to blow mine up but I have happy memories of bouncing gently in front of the tv last time. If the birthing ball seems expensive, I just had an exercise ball which cost about £5. They are smaller, but I knew I wouldn't be using it in labour anyway as they had them in the hospital.

I'm starting pregnancy yoga in spetember but it only runs for 4 weeks. Can't wait though! Really hope I meet some nice ladies due at the same time too. I would have loved aquanatal but couldn't find a class around here.

helips I am impressed at you making a peppa pig cake! Is it going to be the face? I love kids parties
Good luck with the potty training too. I just realised today we have been doing it for 6 months and still she is having an accident almost every day. I must be doing something wrong, but I'm not sure what.

erika if you are still waiting to hear back from the photo agency it sounds like you are doing the right thing. You could tell the credit company you are still awaiting correspondence from the photo co. and therefore can't enter into any further discussion at this time - put the ball back in their court.
Let me know what the hypnobirthing cds are like! I am very tempted but weighing up the cost.

hi pinkmich and sorry your pregnancy has been so stressful so far. I'm hoping that the third trimester proves better for you.

raggie · 19/08/2009 20:50

It was me who asked about the birthing ball laugs, so thanks for your recommendation. Nearly bought one a month ago but like everything pregnancy-related (pushchairs? where do I start?!), it just seemed to have too many options - if you're this height have this ball, if you're this height have this one...what if you're kind of inbetween and the stress of it all is making you feel like you need to cry...?

Argh, having a hormonal moment, not to mention complicated by jet-lag I suppose AND the fact that my mum is coming to visit tomorrow and that is going to mean stressfulness. She is already doing my head in and we've only spoken on the phone!

at my ranting...

deep breaths...

hobnob57 · 19/08/2009 21:09

Have just caught up on today's posts and promptly forgotten them all except the last few I read. kaster the ketones showed up in one of the stick tests they do with urine - the MW used one with loads of little squares on it. I totally understand your need to get stuff done before school starts, I was exactly the same. Sadly we are now back into the swing up here in Scotland. On my 3rd (!) day on inservice today & we had so many meetings and the odd parent turning up that I didn't get lunch until 2:20!!!! It's a LONG time between breakfast at 7 and 2:20. Luckily it was someone's birthday and there was cake at break. I too am ravenous mid-morning, but hardly hungry at all in the evenings. A very definite change, since I'm not even tempted by the bar of chocolate in the fridge right now I'm also drinking water like a fish. I remember being constantly thirsty throughout my last pg, but I haven't been at all until the past week this time. I just can't drink enough of the stuff. Hope it's not a sign of anything: I'm not getting my 28 wk appointment until 29 weeks next week.

Being back at work: if one more person says to me 'you're getting bigger by the day, I swear' I don't know what I'll do. It's kind of the idea with pregnancy....

ErikaMaye · 19/08/2009 22:17

Helips am back to sulking now though, wasn't well enough to walk to the shops to buy more I think DP is feeling a little better, thankyou. Obviously the medications haven't kicked in yet, but knowing that they will soon is sometimes just as helpful. We tend to only stop over once - think my Dad's in for a shock this time!! I'm more worried about the traffic jams Hope your DS has a lovely birthday.

Laugs that's pretty much what I've said to them. Just got to wait for them to respond. Would you like me to do you a copy of the CDs and post them to you? I had a listen to the start of them today, and although its a bit odd (and slightly funny) at first, its actually quite relaxing.

Awww Raggie Hope you feel less stressed soon, and that it goes okay with your mum.

Hobnob People are saying that to me too. I juust nod and smile - and resist the temptation to pat them on the head

Was sat on the bus on the way back from therapy today trying to pursade Bryn to move from poking me very uncomfortably in the ribs whilst also trying to avoid the whole of the bus staring at me. I must have looked rediculous!!!

skorpion · 20/08/2009 08:47

raggie I'm 173cm tall and have a 65cm ball. I think it is in fact a gym ball, not specifically a birthing one, not sure what the difference would be though. I find this size fine. I was given it by a friend who found it too big for her, but I think TK Max are selling them at quite a discount.
I only started using mine at my classes and found it really comfortable. You sit on it and sort of do a hip-belly dance to loosen your joints. It really is nice.

Hope your mum's visit is not too stressful for you.

I have finally decided that I do look pregnant now. So far I just looked tubby, like a beer belly developing. I really expected to look pg sooner than at 25 weeks. Also, does anyone have any weird cravings? I don't, annoyingly. I was really looking forward to kicking DH out in the middle of the night to get some pilchard ice cream. Nothing.

Laugs · 20/08/2009 09:21

Just measured my ball and it's about 50cm high, so quite small really. It's fine though. If I want my legs higher (I think your knees are supposed to be above your pelvis) I just put my feet on DD's stool. I was rolling gently to the sound of Pachebel's Canon last night. Most civilised!

erika If you wouldn't mind copying me the cd that would be great! Is there anything else you need for Bryn that I might be able to swap with you?

skorpion no cravings here either. I'm disappointed too. This is our one chance to be demanding!

raggie I am having a hormonal moment too. I've been so angry this morning for no particular reason, and want to cry at the same time.

DH and I have been arguing loads this past week. Actually not really arguing, just snapping at each other constantly. I feel like everything he says to me is in a really harsh tone (can't tell if this is true or I'm just over-sensitive); he says I just complain all the time (which probably is true!). We are having the weekend apart though as he's off to see his brother and I'm going to see my parents, so hopefully absence will make the heart grow fonder!

Trikken · 20/08/2009 09:38

skorpion think the only difference is the birthing ball had a double layer in case one pops, to make it a it safer for you, and prob a it bigger, but as long as you're careful you should be fine on a gym ball.

raggie · 20/08/2009 09:58

Thanks everyone for the hugs and sympathies I am feeling less hormonal and teary this morning but still stressed about mum arriving in an hour...probably means it'll be fine as things always seem togo the way you DON'T expect they will.

Thanks on the birthing ball front too laugs and skorpion - think I will invest in one based on your recommendations Perhaps pop down to TK Maxx later.

Anyway, I have been nesting nesting nesting this morning so far - have cleaned the kitchen including thoroughly emptying (some of) the cupboards and rearranging them. Phew. Definitely need a cup of tea now!

erika how's the writing going?

Laugs · 20/08/2009 10:15

erika I have a pregnancy yoga DVD I could copy and send you? It is a bit dated, but I'm sure the exercises ae still the same.

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 20/08/2009 10:26

Oh god I would so love to 'nest' again. There is no point and it is quite stressing me out. So I am mainly in the kitchen and bathroom these days keeping those two rooms spotless and have reorganised some drawers. The dust is everywhere and each time I clean it away, by the end of the day it is back again, it notices in particular over the tv and filing cabinet as they are shiney and black (were!).

I am itching to paint, and to buy some things for the baby but there is no space until the loft is done to put anything! We have a sofa being delivered tomorrow and nowhere to put it . It is meant to be going in the front room, and the sofa bed we have is going into DDs new bedroom, which is currently our bedroom. but it is still our bedroom, the spare room is full of building materials and we cannot put anything in the loft still due to the dust and mess. So, we will have to very large sofas in the front room, which also has DDs toy cupboard (huge), all her toys, a wooden chest which is normally in the hallway, a poang chair, tv, computer, DDs table, laptop table...and on she goes!

I have a yoga/exercise ball too, but nowhere to set it up! I used it last time especially near the end of the pg and found it very helpful to alleviate backache. I bounced on it, also rolled my hips while on it, while watching tv! very soothing. I took it to hospital too, but did not use it much for the birth, found all fours/lying with my butt in the air much more comfortable.

raggie · 20/08/2009 10:37

laugs if it wasn't too much trouble, I would love to use the pregnancy yoga DVD too - or maybe erika could copy it and forward it on and then I cold do the same for someone else?

Sorry if it sounds cheeky!

beepbeep · 20/08/2009 10:39

Morning all!

Have my GTT next thurs - not looking forward to it and noone really seems to know why i'm having it!!?! at least it's a day off work!

I'm really chuffed with my MW - my old MW (from other 2 DCs) is back covering my area and spoke with her about my Strep B. Basically i was found as having it at end of last pregnancy but did not get test results til after DS was born so didn't have antibiotics and he was fine. had an early test at 12 wks this preg and came back negative, but was put under a consultant who told me i had to have antibiotics this time, have done a load of reasearch (inc NHS & others) and they all say that +ve in a previous pregnancy isn't enough to warrant giving of antibiotics, need to be more risk factors present - which I haven't got. I've said i'll pay for private test at 37 wks and if -ve again then I should have to have the antibiotics as more detremental to baby (risks of other things caused by good bacteria wiped out by antibiotics) than the really low risk the baby is at from contracting strep B from (due to no risk factors - if that makes sense!!). anyway spoke with MW yesterday and SHE AGREES!!!! and is going to try and get me from under the consultant - yipee! not sure if this would mean Chipping Norton (birtjing centre) would have me back, but at least it means I can have a 'normal' water birth in hospital if not. So chuffed. (so long as we manage to convince hospital about antibiotics anyway - fingers crossed!)

have just bought DD a balance bike for her birthday (not until 28th Nov - but 5 days after EDD!!) Have got her a disney princess hat and knees pads from DS - very pink! have also booked her a swimming party - turn up, swim with friends, tea and home - sounds good to me as i'll either be HUGE or have a very new baby! Feeling very organised at the moment. We even had the car seat and footmuff delivered on tues - went for maxi cosi in tango red (DD's choice as she liked the spots!), have taken her doll out of it, rewrapped it and put box in garage!

Laugs - DH & I also bickering alot at mo, I just seem to be really short tempered and shattered, DD is really playing me up - typical 2.5yr old and DS still refusing to do anything other than roll, so having to lug him around everywhere - the lump! I feel like we have so much to do and a little help from DH would be nice! He keeps saying 'what's wrong with you' - the only answer being 'i'm f*ing pregnant!!' but at least it shuts him up!

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 20/08/2009 10:49

beepbeep we got DD a balance bike too, for her birthday in July, she absolutely loves it! and it took her no time at all to learn to scoot along and she can even use the brakes now and practices all the time!

She looks fab with her helmet on! all grown up!

ErikaMaye · 20/08/2009 10:52

Laugs that would be great Sounds like a fair swap hehe. Do you want to drop me an email? [email protected] I'm sorry to hear about the arguments

Does anyone else want a copy of the CDs?

Raggie well, I've written the majority of the first chapter in first draft. But am going to have a chat with the other girls at the antenatal class, see what they wish they could have had in a book for our age group, and work from there.

Seeing as so many of you are recommending the balls, I think I may get one. Was thinking about it. I'm going to do it the cheapy way though and get an exercise ball from ADSA

Poor DP, he's started taking his meds, and they're giving him an almost constant mild panic attack I had that for the best part of three weeks when I was on the ADs they're trying him on, it was horrible...

I started on my baby book yesterday I already had the pregnany diary which I'm writing in ever Sunday night, but got a lovely leather bound scrapbook in the sales. I've decorated the couner of each page with gold and silver pens, and bought some craft things (metalic leaves and such like) to jazz it up

skorpion · 20/08/2009 11:00

beepbeep happy for you on the positive news. Hopefully you'll get exactly what you want. I went in to Chippy a couple of weeks ago to get my MATB form from the MW. Did not look around, but from what I managed to see it looks really cosy. We have the antinatal class booked in for begining of November there and will have a tour before then. Can't wait.

I also just agreed to start my leave - 16th of Oct will be my last day. Taking 4 weeks holiday and two maternity, which runs through till due date. And you know what? Now I know the date it can't come soon enough! I want to be off now!

scarlotti · 20/08/2009 11:15

Feeling slightly irritable all the time here too, and can't quite work out why! Would be snapping more at DH but he's worked late every evening so far this week so isn't there to snap at

beepbeep can I ask why you've bought a new car seat? Is the one from your DD not suitable? We are 95% sure now that we'll use DS' old one - it will be 5 years old when new baby is 3 months and the manufacturer said it should last between 5 - 6 years. Still a part of me is slightly concerned but hopefully it will be fine.
Anyone else in the same boat?

Am impressed at the party arrangements too! DS is 4 on November 11th (5 days after EDD) and was 5 days late himself. I just don't know what to do for his birthday. Don't want him to miss out, but would rather be doing something whilst heavily pregnant than with a few days old baby.
Anyone else got this dilemma too?

Reading my post it would seem undecided is my current state of mind!! Add to that constipated (again), hungry more, tired more and you get the picture.

Pav really feeling for you at the moment having been through 2 loft conversions, and a downstairs extension when DS was born. That dust seems to take forever to go away, and as soon as you've cleaned something a new film appears. Hang on in there with all your furniture stacked on top of each other, and hopefully within a few weeks there will be light at the end of the tunnel

beepbeep · 20/08/2009 11:32

Scalotti - we have got a new car seat cause we used a lie flat one for previous 2 DCs (same one for both) but it takes up 2 car seats, so have had to buy a bucket seat to fit it in the car!! Would have used lie flat quite happily again if could have fitted it in.

Skorpion - Chippy is GREAT!! went there after DD's birth at horton for breastfeeding help etc and then had DS there last year, they were brilliant and would love to go back again, tho not sure if they'll have me due to previous strep B result and also DS was over 10lb and I know they don't like anything that is in the least bit risky and not sure if they look at big baies this way as been told this one may well be bigger

Laugs · 20/08/2009 11:42

Thanks erika and of course you can raggie! Does anyone else want a copy? I will have to do them next week though as I'm off down to my parents' in an hour and not packed yet. raggie, erika and anyone else, my email address is laurafraineAThotmail.com

beepbeep I'm impressed about the birthday preparations too! DD will be 3 on 2nd November and we still haven't decided whether to have a proper party with friends or a family birthday tea. I'm not due until the 26th but still don't think I'll be up for much at 37 weeks.

scarlotti I think we'll be using the same car seat. Neither of us drive, so it's only been used very rarely and will continue to be. Not sure if this makes a difference to the Use By Date issue, but the only reason I can see they'd last a certain amount of time is because of wear and tear/ impact, surely? Does anyone know?

erika your poor DP. A constant panic attack sounds like pure hell. I hope yours have cleared up by the way, tigger

Anyway must get off and pack mine and DD's bags. I've cleverly arranged to meet a friend in town for lunch first so will have to lug everything around with me. I didn't think that through...
I'll have no internet for 5 days, so will catch up when I'm back!

skorpion · 20/08/2009 11:58

beepbeep I really hope this kid is going to be well-behaved and I'll be able to deliver there. No growing too much, no funny stuff re position, no funny stuff, period. When I went there they were actually not allowed to have any deliveries, as their lift was out of order. Plenty of time to sort it out, though.

Just did this funny clairvoyant prediction re labour on the internet - from another thread on childbirth. It will last 13 hrs, but the kid's going to be quite small. LO has only fifteen weeks left to grow a willy, though... Better get a move on.

BeckyBendyLegs · 20/08/2009 12:06

Skorpion Chippy is great I agree with beepbeep! DS2 was born there (just about) and we loved it. I didn't want to leave (the best lavender and camomile baths I've had ever were had there). I heard though on my trip to Charlbury the other day that they don't have a night-ward there anymore so you can't stay over night, it is just a day ward. Is that true? If so, that's a great shame. Or perhaps that is the plan for the future. I stayed 4 days with DS2 and went there with DS1 after transfering from the JR in Oxford. I wish I could go back to Chippy.

OP posts:
beepbeep · 20/08/2009 12:25

On speaking with Chippy they now have to follow same guidelines as normal hospitals which is getting people out asap, tho would probably be able to stay awhile if you use the 'need help breastfeeding' line. I know they only have maternity nurses on at nights unless there's a birth, but hadn't heard about it being a day ward only - will check that out.

beepbeep · 20/08/2009 12:28

Skorpion - I didn't use the lift - I went up the outside fire stairs when I went to deliver with DS!!! It was absolutely boiling night so they had all the doors open, they had spotted our car arrive and it was the quickest way up! They opened the centre up for me to give birth (bless them!!) as there was no one else in and the maternity nurse had wanted the night off as she was moving house!
