weston · 10/08/2009 13:48

congratulations lemontop, will have a large glass of bubbles to toast u in approx 3 months time!

claired21 · 10/08/2009 14:01

Congratulations lemontop!! Skorpion - a work colleague told me you can add public holidays to your holiday entitlement so I'm planning on starting back with around 8 days paid public holiday then 2 weeks annual leave fully paid before actually being back at work and in the office. My work definitely didn't volunteer this information but I understand it is correct.

scarlotti · 10/08/2009 14:47

lemontop congrats!! My wedding day was a rainy one and we also went to Cyprus for our honeymoon so it's the best start you can have in my opinion

Trikken · 10/08/2009 15:08

congrats Lemontop Glad you had a nice Honeymoon. it rained on our wedding day too, it is supposedly lucky, but dont have the faintest why.

ErikaMaye · 10/08/2009 15:09

Aww welcme back Lemontop Congrats to you and your DH (!!!) hope your bags come back soon!

Ninja that sounds lovely

Helips - Bryn is Welsh, and neither DP or I am. If you like Patrick, go with it!

Midwife came round earlier, she's happy with everything. And of course, just after I mentioned the fact he hadn't been moving around much and I was concerned, he started doing the Hokey Cokey, and hasn't stayed put since. Boys!

Had the blood test etc, got the paper work for the health in pregnancy grant, but forgot to mention the pins and needles / numbness in my right leg - anyone else having this??

I went out and bought a buggy today (another one ) that I found in the Friday Ad. There's nothing really wrong with the other ones I've been given - just that one is too heavy for me with my ME, and the other is difficult to push. I feel like I haven't wasted any money though, as they were both free! This one cost me £30 - is the Mothercare Urban Detour, if anyones heard of / used it - and is fab. Am very happy with it. Can move it easily, and can get it up and down steps. Really really pleased. So have spent the afternoon (when not having my blood stolen and weeing on a stick) cleaning the buggy and both the car seats. Tonight going to try and fix the handle on a Moses basket that Mum found for £3 in a charity shop.

DP still ill Being really off with me as well... Think he might have man flu

mumsiebumsie · 10/08/2009 16:49

Erika regarding baby moving. As you know my baby was giving me the silent treatment, went to hospital to get it checked out this morning and it started doing a one person rave in my stomach!

Re Man Flu - it's far worse than swine flu you know, as quite conveniently only men can get it!

Trikken · 10/08/2009 17:02

Erika we have a black urban detour and i looove it.

eeyore2 · 10/08/2009 17:27

Lemontop, congratulations to you and your brand new husband!

ursigurke · 10/08/2009 18:16

Lemontop, congratulations to you and your husband! Glad to hear that you had such a nice day (even with the rain) and honeymoon. I'm sure your bag will soon be back as well.

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 10/08/2009 18:22

Skorpion - the law states that you accrue bank holidays in exactly the same way you would if you were at work, as you are entitled to the same benefits during maternity leave as you are when at work. So you add them onto either your leave before your maternity leave (as I am doing) or you can take them when you return from work (as long as you do not lose any leave not taken, as in my case April-April) but you definitely have them to take. I sought clarification from my HR department on this issue a couple of weeks ago.

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 10/08/2009 18:23

lemontop YEY to you being DW! congratulations and sounds like a lovely relaxing honeymoon.

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 10/08/2009 18:48

I am so upset. I just cannot see the building work ever going right, and I am fed up with arguing with builders. I want someone to come along and sort it for me and DH is useless

ErikaMaye · 10/08/2009 21:26

Mumsie - I'm thinking he most CERTAINLY has Man Flu now... Apparently updating him on midwife and social services appointments is blocking him in Ugh. Men. Sometimes, I really do hate them!!! Who the hell else does he expect me to tell??? I text asking how he is and he needs his breathing space... AHHH!!! Dunno whether to scream or cry.

Pavlov you poor thing Have some huge huge hugs. I'd fix it for you if I could. x

BeckyBendyLegs · 10/08/2009 22:09

Lemontop yeah! Married! Yeah!

The baby crying noise on BB is making me feel funny - is that pregnancy hormones? I just want to cuddle the baby!!!! Weston I'm with you on liking sad reality TV shows. I don't know why I like them but I do. DH hates them! He really hates wife swap. BB keeps me going at the moment.

OP posts:
BeckyBendyLegs · 10/08/2009 22:10

Oh god the baby on BB is getting more upset - it's awful. I can't bear it!

raggie · 11/08/2009 03:40

Thanks for the anniversary wishes sleepless

Congratulations on your wedding lemontop. My 'knot' was tied in water too - serious rain this time last year when we got hitched.

pOOR pavlovand erika sound like you are not having so much fun right now though. Hugs to you both xx

Tamlin · 11/08/2009 08:44

Congratulations, lemontop, it sounds as if it was a lovely day! Am v. jealous of your honeymoon, DH and I are still waiting to take one...

Re. baby not moving - I find that if I drink an icy-cold sweet drink (Coke, if you're not one of the crazed anti-caffeine crew! ) and then lie down for half an hour with music with a bit of a beat playing, baby usually wakes up. They're usually sleeping while you're moving around, and at this stage, they're only supposed to be awake for two hours total a day anyway.

DS used to scare me a lot as he was less active than this one, so DH would lean down next to my belly and bellow 'WAKE UP IN THERE, YOU'RE FRIGHTENING YOUR MOTHER!' Then I'd feel startled arms and legs shoved out in all directions...

We went to the beach on the weekend, and I got to swim which was lovely - nothing like feeling utterly weightless and just being rocked back and forth! It was a very crowded beach, though, so I had to put up with DH making rude remarks about the British propensity to bring everything bar the kitchen sink to the beach and then jealously stake out their territory. 'Now, darling, let me hammer in the stakes to demarcate OUR bit, and you put up the tent and inflate the boat and lay out the towels and the toys, and then I'll dig the moat and put up the drawbridge. Where are the attack dogs? You did pack the attack dogs, didn't you?' Must be nice to come from a bit of the world which isn't hugely densely packed...

lemontop · 11/08/2009 09:30

Cheers guys. All my time and energy up till now has been concentrated on the wedding so now it's actually time for me to start thinking about the baby! DH has this week off work so we are going to try and make a start on clearing the teeny tiny box room (aka nursery!) I have a feeling that it'll be like the other rooms upstairs and as soon as I peel off the wallpaper the walls will start to crumble and it'll be a whole replastering job.

Still confused about buggies. I'm not sure I want to go for a travelsystem thingy. They just look so bulky and cost so much. Might try and get something that will work as a pram then get a decent lightweight buggy later on. Decisions decisions.....

I'm a bit concerned about finding out I tested +ive for strep b. I wonder if it'll limit my birth choices and mean a longer stay in hospital. Has anyone got any experience of this? I'm starting to think about the birth and was really hoping for a short stay in hospital. I know it sounds odd but I really don't fancy having loads of visitors and thought that might be one way of getting rid of them!

This baby responds so much to noise, particularly songs with heavy bass or 'boom' type noises. It also responds when DH talks which is lovely. Kicked himin the head the other day!

Sorry mammoth post!

Trikken · 11/08/2009 09:32

hey all, hope you all slept well. I myself had a really bad night, starting with dh going back onto nights, then when i went to bed i got really bad "trapped wind" which was hurting a lot as it felt like it was radiating out through to my back, and was getting worse and worse. couldnt lie down and sitting was hurting too, was about to phone mum to ask her what to do (as she is a nurse and thought she might be able to help) when i realised i was gonna be sick. so after that i felt a bit better, but was still hurting a bit but just tried to sleep. think babys position wasnt helping either cos she felt really high up.

sleeplessinthecity · 11/08/2009 09:43

Tamlin at beach story..much the same here in Geneva but haven't had the courage to go in the water yet.. I must do so..here they eat tonnes of cheese and drink wine and beer and have little tents for babies to sleep in..its quite civilised.

Trikken having a rough time at night too. Wind, SPD and now mosquito bites..ouchw

Laugs · 11/08/2009 10:11

tamlin very jealous at your swim in the sea. Up here the beaches are lovely and clear, but the sea is bloody freezing!

trikken sounds like your night was rubbish. I'm finding it really hard sleeping too - I get to sleep ok but normally wake about 2am, sometimes for 2 or 3 hours. Do you think this is our bodies' way of preparing us for parenthood by getting us used to sleepless nights? I know last time round I felt AMAZING after DD was born - I had so much energy even on so little sleep - probably just because I wasn't dealing with all the extra weight and pregnancy symptoms any more.
I was sick yesterday too - it's only about once a week now but somehow that makes it feel worse than when it was every day.

erika and pavlov hope you are both having better days.

becky and weston I love Wife Swap too, but have managed to not watch any BB this year. I'm quite pleased with myself, I normally get sucked in...

... and most of all lemontop - CONGRATULATIONS! I'm so pleased it all went well after all your hard work in organising the wedding.

Laugs · 11/08/2009 10:20

Oh, meant to ask - has anybody bought/ used Natal Hypnotherapy CDs? here

What did you think? Is it worth it or would I be just as well listening to Mozart and sitting on a gym ball?? I do quite like the idea of it as I am both anxious and suggestible! (surely the perfect candidate for hypnosis ) But it costs £50 so it's a lot of money to waste if it's no good.

scarlotti · 11/08/2009 10:27

Morning all

It's my 2nd wedding anniversary today apparently it's cotton so I got a lovely dressing gown for my present. Nice and snuggly, so will keep me warm when I'm up at all hours of the night in mid winter!

Sleeping is sporadic at this end too. Am thinking of going for an acupuncture session as they sorted my sleep out in the first trimester as well as my nausea. A few good nights kip would be bliss!

Another wife swap fan here, DH tolerates it!

ErikaMaye · 11/08/2009 10:56

Tamlin Your husband sounds hilarious. That really made me giggle, thank him for me

Congratulations Scarlotti, I hope you both have a brilliant day

Trikken I hope you have a better night tonight, that sounds miserable

Raggie happy anniversery! Sorry its late

Ohhh.... Maybe reality TV is a pregnancy "thing" then - right now am TOTALLY addicted to Come Dine With Me. And the baby programs on Discovery Real Life I have no shame!!

DP being almost normal with me again today. Well... He called me "hun" and I actually got kisses on my texts at least! Men are such odd creatures...

12 squares done for the blanket!

Ninjacat · 11/08/2009 11:07

Scarlotti Penblwydd priodas hapus. Hope you have a lovely day.

Lemontop All sounds like it went perfectly. Congratulations. x

Tamlin LOL at your dp, sounds just like my cynical side kick. I also swam in the sea (woolacombe) at the weekend. Was lovely once your in. At home in Pembrokeshire they swim in the sea on Boxingday. Might not be joining them this year.

Oh and Lemontop there are a few of us here who have tested + for Strep B. It does mean we have to go in to hospital to deliver as we have to have a course of IV antibiotics during labour but to be honest something like 1/3 of women carry it and it's not routinely tested for so most people with it just never find out. It's a bacteria that is not dangerous to us but can be pretty nasty for the baby (but only in a small amount of cases).

I think Scarlotti has some cures up her sleeve for strep B. Something like garlic, thread and a night alone. (Was that you Sca?)

I'm struggling to upload on you tube at the moment and sat pulling my hair out. Stooped computers.

Hope all are well.
