Anyone else due April 2010?

I just found out yesterday I'm 4 weeks preggers after trying for our 2nd baby for a year and half, at last!! It seemed as though it was never going to happen!

Here's to the next 8-9 months!

thedollshouse · 24/09/2009 09:20

My hair is still coming out Snowtiger, in fact I find that I always lose a lot in September/October.

My hair didn't actually change in pregnancy last time.

JPL81 · 24/09/2009 09:23

Thehuntress that's a brilliant result, I bet you're thrilled!

Good luck to everyone with scans coming up, will be thinking of you all.

Zeeky - Christmas shopping?! Oh no. I used to have a deli and online mail order business so, up until a couple of years ago I would spend the weeks leading up to Christmas shut in a big fridge wrapping hampers, or otherwise cutting inordinate amounts of the smelliest cheeses known to humanity - not to mention working 120 hour weeks. My Christmas scars have still not healed - although I'm sure having a little one around will make dh and I a bit less Grinchy!

Told rest of family and a few friends last night - I know I should really have waited until 12 weeks but couldn't contain ourselves any longer. DH is a farmer and we're a pretty tight knit community so the jungle drums will have been doing their thing and the whole bloody county will know this morning !

Have a good day everyone.

Snowtiger · 24/09/2009 09:26

Ha ha, know what you mean about the jungle drums JPL, I'm seeing a family friend tomorrow and I'm sure she'll guess - which is the equivalent of putting a full page advert in the local newspaper. Still, saves you telling everyone individually doesn't it?!

nicnacinoonoo · 24/09/2009 09:34

ditto on the bloaty, farty and burpy for me too beast snowtiger! never had that with ds just had the hiccups all the time with him.

zeeky i am a christmas nazi. i make lists of what im going to buy every one in the summer so im prepared. i have bought most of the things for other people already just need to continue getting things for ds now, and my fingers are twitching wanting to start wrapping already. i have to sit on my hands not to put the decorations up before the 1st (dh wont let me do it any earlier and he even moans that the 1st is too early)

mcchesers so jealous you know the sex already, i cant wait to find out.

srce try not to worry (i know easier said than done) but the other poster had to go back for another scan the next week to check up on it so they must have suspected something. if they dont seem worried about it then im sure everything is fine. and a nice strong heartbeat is definitely a good sign.

Toady · 24/09/2009 11:15

Hi everybody just got back from my first appointment with the midwife, blood pressure etc all fine.

I am having a nuchal scan week beginning October 12th which I am still unsure about having have to next Wednesday to decide, I am 37 now so think I should but not sure what to do if anything wrong. I think things were a lot easier in the 'olden' days when you didn't have scans etc and just had to get on with it.

I also informed my midwife i would be having a home birth this time, was polite but didn't ask just said that is what I am doing. She looked a bit surprised (have had 2 previous sections and 1 vaginal birth) but said that it was my decision and they would support me in whatever I wanted to do. Glad to have got that off my chest as I was a little nervous about being assertive iyswim which is ridiculous being a 37 year old woman with three children.

Anyway sit back and enjoy now until my scan, trying not to count the days as it just makes it sooooo much longer.

stinkypinky · 24/09/2009 11:22

Hi all, had a rough couple of days resulting in a scan this morning - baby with heartbeat measuring exactly right for dates
I have felt unwell since Sunday - backache, cramps etc. Saw Dr yesterday morning, who thought it was Kidney infection (no temp though)but referred me for a reassurance scan this morning.
Bled overnight - quite a bit, bright red, plus cramping (third bleed this pregnancy). Was expecting the worst at scan - could not look at screen, and I am such a nosy bugger usually.
Thank God everything seems ok.
So looking forward to when we can start talking about prams!

stinkypinky · 24/09/2009 11:28

Toady I am 40 - had dd at 37 and she is perfect. I am going to have the nucal scan, but am not sure I could do any more tests if it involves a risk to the baby. I would like to know if my baby has a potential problem so we could prepare as best as possible.

draughts · 24/09/2009 11:37

Hello all, stinkypinky glad your scan went well.

toady I am also undecided about nuchal. We are entitled to one on the NHS here as DS2 has a chromosome abnormality. It isn't an inherited one just something that happened at conception.

He unfortunately wasn't diagnosed untill he was 4 years old and his (and our's) life would have been much easier had he been diagnosed at birth. Conversely I am very glad I didn't know ante-natally as we could have made a decision I know we would have regretted. It's a tricky one.

x

ReneRusso · 24/09/2009 12:10

It does get trickier to decide about screening as you get older (I'm 38). I have had the combined nuchal and blood test, still awaiting results, but if I am high risk I don't know whether I would have further tests. I just felt there was no harm in getting the initial test done, as its no risk to the baby and you might as well have the information. Scan picture of my bean is on my profile page btw.

nicnacinoonoo · 24/09/2009 12:19

great scan photo rene. im even more excited about my scan now after seeing that. please please be a fast week!

thedollshouse · 24/09/2009 14:01

Congratulations all on your positive scans.

rene what a fab photo! Its a real baby! With ds we had a scan at 9 weeks and he looked like a little prawn, amazing what a difference a few weeks can make.

I have my 12 week scan on Monday. Very very nervous. I have had lower backache the last few days hoping that is not a bad sign.

thighsmadeofcheddar · 24/09/2009 17:25

Hi all,

Hope everyone is doing well, so many good scans is great news.

Does anyone know when you are legally obliged to tell your employer you're pregnant? I think it's 15 weeks before the due date, or am I imagining it?

bumble75 · 24/09/2009 17:36

Hope everyone well, glad to hear about all the scans. I've only skimmed the thread - in my current exhausted state it was all a bit much - must be better at keeping up!

Am ten weeks tomorrow, and utterly shattered and still feeling rotten - am eating constantly to keep sickness away (already feel like I look 10 months pg!) and have been massively bloated and windy so feeling very glam!

Have started a new role in the same company which was either madness or inspired - has kept my mind off feeling rubbish but has required brain power which seems to have deserted me at the moment

TMOC - I think you're right and it is 15 weeks before EDD

Good luck to everyone with scans coming up, mine is on the 9th, tryng to disguise ever increasing bump until at least after then...

srce · 24/09/2009 18:33

youre both right, it is 15wks before your due date. im not looking forward to telling mine, have only been back since march since DD2, and my close colleage is on mat leave at the moment, oh well!

i have a really great job, i only do 16hrs a wk, and would really like to go back, but the couple of friends that ive told about this baby seem to think im totally mad to even consider working with 3 DCs. mind you they are both well and truly 'kept women' great life!

thanks so much you guys who've said reassuring things about my scan and the little bean. can i just say i am loving posting on this thread, especially as ive only told a couple of people about this bean, and no family as yet, it is so good to hear everyones news and chat.

good luck to those with scans

Zeeky · 24/09/2009 20:01

nicnacinoonoo I'm very of your Christmas planning skills! I never start my spreadsheets/lists until September, but always wish I had started earlier!

Snowtiger - I think you're right about taking DS to scan - it will probably take my mind of things. He is interested in everything and will adore going to the hospital and watching everything going on.

Anyone else really constipated (tmi!) or is it just me? I suppose that's what's causing all the bloating and wind! Nice

ohnelly · 25/09/2009 09:41

Hi all can I join? Due 2nd April 2010.
Just wondering who has got a bump yet? havent really got one yet and its my second baby. I can feel it if I press!
Im also at home with a broken ankle after slipping on a door mat [poor me!] so have plenty of time on my hands at the moment. Ill make the most of it, I probably will never get the chance again!

thedollshouse · 25/09/2009 10:06

Welcome Ohnelly.

I do have a bump but whether its all baby or overeating i'm not sure!

PrincessTweetz · 25/09/2009 10:19

Mornng all...dp went out yesterday afternoon, with his dad and brother, and didn't get back til 10.30, leaving me waiting for a burger for 4 hours!!! I've made up for it tho, by sending him out for a mcdonalds breakfast, with a stinking hangover hehe....I'd never ate one til he other day, I've had 3 this last week...
zeeky, I know all about the constipation lol....feeling rather uncomfy at the mo haha
rene, ur foto is great, mine didn't come back really clear this time, good enough for me, but deffo looking forward to the 20 week one. I think Idrank far too much water as well, cuz it was really uncomfy and I really thought I would wee there and then! Luckily, I never!! I've already started thinking about prams, and names, (actually, I know roughly what I want each of my kids to be called, depending on the actual sex of each one!!) and bedding,...I've bought 3 baygros, and matching vests...only because I couldn't decide which were cuter, and I already have my steriliser and bottl st, even though I'll be breastfeeding....you could say I like to be organised a little too much, but for some reason, no matter how hard I try to be, I'm always in a little muddle at various points in my life hehe. I've also started my christms shopping, and I have also started to make my christmas cards too!! Much more prepared than last year!!Hope ur all good x

Rtuff · 25/09/2009 13:08

Hi everyone

I had my appointment with the consultant this morning and it was alot easier than i thought it would be. So i'm officially booked in for a c-section on March 25th! It does seem a little strange picking the day and knowing exactly when i'm going to have my baby.... but i'm so relieved!

I hope everyone is doing okay and MS is starting to get better for everyone!

OP posts:
nicnacinoonoo · 25/09/2009 14:17

i really hope im as lucky as you rtuff. my appointment isn't until the 26th november though as he likes to wait until after the 19/20 week scan.

welcome ohnelly im 12 weeks today with my second and have no bump yet. i had more of one a month ago but hopefully that was just bloating.

princess we know roughly what names we want and iv also bought my steriliser even though im going to try to breast feed. is it too early to ask opinions on names??

thedollshouse · 25/09/2009 14:38

Not too early nicnacinoonoo, fire away! I think I started a name thread when I was only 4 weeks.

ReneRusso · 25/09/2009 14:39

Great news Rtuff, hope I get a similar outcome.
Hi ohnelly, yes I have definitely got a bump now. This is my 3rd child and have got a bad case of diastasis recti. I have basically gone public now. as it is no longer possible to hide it, and its too hot to wear a coat!

nicnacinoonoo · 25/09/2009 14:48

yay ok...

boys = blake most likely, we also like jase/jayce but dont want everyone to end up thinking he's called jason, plus someone else has mentioned that they think it sounds girly. zane is another possibility. i really like grayson but dh is having none of it ha.

girls = kacie most likely, others we like are cassidy, maddison, brooke, kayleigh and shelby.

our last name is wilkie. our ds is called ajay (aj).

nicnacinoonoo · 25/09/2009 14:49

you can be totally honest i wont be offended we have quite unusual taste and everyone we knew hated ajay when we picked it but we both loved it so it didnt bother us.

ReneRusso · 25/09/2009 14:57

I like blake and zane. not too keen on jase. I'm not sure about kacie, but it does kind of go with ajay. I likw maddison.
