Anyone else due April 2010?

I just found out yesterday I'm 4 weeks preggers after trying for our 2nd baby for a year and half, at last!! It seemed as though it was never going to happen!

Here's to the next 8-9 months!

jpl fingers crossed for u. i had some spotting around this time with ds and was given a scan and everything was fine

cinnabar my sil has had 3 and she's had a really quick and easy labour and delivery every time. she says she quite enjoys it and i think she'd have a baby every year if she could!

Welcome Toady Number 4? Wow!

draughts · 22/09/2009 14:28

So sorry blondie. Take care of yourself.

jpl Really hope all is well for you.

Hello toady .

I had a scan yesterday following some horrid abdo pain last week and saw a baby measuring 9 weeks 1 day. Really pleased and a little emotional too. Sonographer said they will use that as my dating scan, so thats it for me untill 20 weeks, although seeing midwife this afternoon so will try to see if I can have a 12 week scan too. They suspect the pain is due to still having to carry my nearly six year old around sometimes (he has some SN)so I am going to be really careful about how I pick him up. He can walk btw he just has issues.

I am not being sick but I have to say I feel totally rotten. I don't know what to do with myself as I have no energy and just feel really nauseaous.

I think I am going to go back to my normal posting name soon too. I don't know why but my posts just don't read right when I am somebody else.

thedollshouse · 22/09/2009 14:31

So sorry to hear that Blondie .

Take care. x

ReneRusso · 22/09/2009 14:45

sorry to hear your bad news blondie

tostaky · 22/09/2009 16:29

Sorry blondie
Welcome toady!

Labour can be frightening especially when you read negative experience but we forget the big majority of labours are absolutly fine!

I am almost 13 weeks and my energy level hasent picked up yet, in fact, id say it dropped... is that normal or am i coming down with something?? i feel knackered all the time and i just had a power-nap in the loo...
DP is joking im recovering from swine flu...

I would like to say maybe at the start of the new thread, when we reach 1000 posts, we could have an upated lists of people. That would be nice. And then maybe the next time we can update with the gender (for those who want to know - im undecided!)

Good luck at your conference che, im sure it'll be ok. Are you a delegate or are you speaking?

C1NDY · 22/09/2009 16:31

Thedollhouse and Rene I never said I disagreed as I had a horrible labour last time around and had a c/sec. When I mean horriable, I mean horriable i was lucky to be alive along with my daughter but will still seek my consultants advice this time around. I understand that experiences can be bad but sometimes people opt for c/s as a get out clause and I think that sometimes they should only be there for emergencies. We are lucky to have such a procedure available but nowadays a load of women opt for the procedure to not go through labour - which to me is the most natural experience. I was sorry that it didnt work out well for me. All I was saying is that if you are fit and healthy then a natural labour should always be the first option. Just my personal opinion.

rene you sounded stressed so I was suggesting that if your consultant says no to c/s then you can pay for the procedure. So dont worry you do still have an option.

JPL81 · 22/09/2009 17:01

Thanks for all of your comments. I'm torn between trying to stay positive and preparing myself mentally for the worst. Just the look on DH's face is unbearable. Less than 24 hours to wait and I'll know, either way.

Thanks again.

nicnacinoonoo · 22/09/2009 18:24

tostaky if you look at the pregnancy calender on here for weeks 9,10,11,12 it says this:
Tiredness
"I felt so unbelievably tired ? it was a bit like altitude sickness, where you feel you've got lead running around your veins, and even walking up the stairs is too much." EEC
Yes, you had this during the past four weeks, but you may still have it. In fact, coming up to the 12-week reprieve period it may get worse. This is tiredness like no other - not eyelids-drooping but entire body-drooping. It spreads from your feet up through your whole body and is almost pleasantly overwhelming. You can't fight it so lie down and embrace it. Of course, if you have other children or a job then you probably won't be able to. Sorry.

hope that helps

srce · 22/09/2009 19:22

LIE DOWN AND EMBRACE IT?!!! just fell off my chair laughing nicnac

my god what i wouldnt pay to lie down. but with a DH in a strop and off on yet another stag weekend ( why it starts on wednesday im not so sure?! ) DD1 and DD2 to look after and work where im on my feet non stop, not a chance!!

just settling for going to bed at 7.30 with the DDs and gritting my teeth to get through the day, and to stop me being sick on anyone!

will be thinking of all who have scans tommorrow, mine is at 9.30, thinking of you JPL81

Snowtiger · 22/09/2009 19:31

So sorry to hear your sad news blondie and wishing all the luck in the world, JPL81, really hope all goes well tomorrow. Can't imagine how horrible the waiting must be.

Nic regarding hypnotherapy in pregnancy, it's basically having hypnotherapy to prepare you for labour and birth, so you're "programmed' (although you're totally aware throughout) to be confident and relaxed, for the labour to be quick, for your body to stretch so you don't tear, and for all to be well, basically. The Gentle Birth Method by Dr Gowri Motha is a great book related to it, which I followed when pregnant with DS, and found incredibly helpful.

You can look up 'hypnobirthing' on the internet and probably find lots of practitioners near you - my only word of caution is that you can sometimes find people who've done a short 'Hypnobirthing' course and are then practising, without actually being a qualified clinical hypnotherapist (which is a recognised medical qualification). Usually better to find a clinical hypnotherapist who specialises in hypnotherapy for pregnancy & birth, if that makes sense. That way you know you're in safe hands. Have a google and find out more if you're interested, I recommend it really highly - it's a personal thing, obviously, but it worked for me, I had a really quite easy (relatively speaking) 8 hour labour & birth using just gas and air, recovered quickly, home the same day, barely a scratch on me, found breastfeeding easy etc etc.

It's basically a really good way to help your body do what it's naturally supposed to in the best case scenario, and to keep you calm and confident, as the more stressed you are during labour, the harder it is (adrenalin is the enemy of an easy labour!).

BTW loved the phrase 'not eyelid drooping but entire body drooping' re tiredness. My God do I know how that feels. Am permanently knackered! Hope to get a big 2nd trimester burst of energy soon!!

AdelaideJo · 22/09/2009 20:29

Hi all,

I just want to agree with Snowtiger about the hypnobirthing - I also used it and had a very agreeable experience. I didn't see a hypnotherapist but used a CD for several weeks beforehand so by the time DS arrived I kind of knew it by heart - I recommend it for nerves!!

Also, I really feel compelled to make a comment about emcs/the hospital setting as theres been a really interesting discussion recently. I'm a healthcare professional (not a midwife) and I work regularly on delivery suites. I've attended dozens of emergency and elective sections. I really want to point out to everybody that what may appear to be chaos and bedlam, with people shouting and rushing labouring women into theatre, is actually very controlled, despite appearances. The prime objective once things get to a emergency section (particularly regarding the general anaesthetic), is getting a baby safely delivered, and thats all. Everyone in the room has their own role to fulfil but it is all focused on the mother and baby's safety.

Obviously I don't want to tread on anyone's feelings and I haven't had this experience myself, but I am keeping an open mind about my next birth (and what could happen), because ultimately what matters is having my baby placed in my arms, however he or she is delivered.

PrincessTweetz · 22/09/2009 20:41

Hello all!! Well, I can say I am officially pregnant....forget seeing the baby on the scan last week....even tho it was absolutely fantastic!!!...but heartburn has kicked in!!!! Looks like I'm carrying another hairy lil beast as dp keeps saying now! And just to have a lil moan, my sister has just had her dd, and suddenly seems to foget exactly what state she used to get herself in every day whilst at my mum's house...I complain about burping up heartburn sick (so sorry!!) and she suddenly goes on a rampage about how it's too much info! I'm 3 months (woohoo) pregnant, running after her 3 year old, as well as my 2 year old, while she sits and has cuddles with a sleeping baby, and she's telling me I'm whinging too much!! Honestly, when she was my size, sickness and tiredness was keeping her from moving off the sofa, when she was half way through, she was getting too big to run after her ds, topwards th end she was far too tired and sleepy, then she had a million oher excues each n every day, and they're still coming thick an fast!! Arggghhhhhh.....I'm sorry...I am a nice and understanding person really!!!!
Hope every1's doing good, and good luck to jpl81

Mikkig · 22/09/2009 21:13

hello, I had the same at me GP's even though I took the home test in I still had to be tested by them. Due 19/04 I think, baby number 3 for me, 4 for my partner

ThePhantomPlopper · 22/09/2009 22:49

Hope everything goes OK for you tomorrow jpl81.

Really sorry to hear your news Blondie, take care.

Welcome Toady and Mikkig.

Hope everyone is doing OK?!

ReneRusso · 22/09/2009 23:17

Is anyone else showing yet? I've suddenly ballooned in the last week. I'm so pissed off, someone I hardly know asked me when I was due today. I haven't had a scan yet so I haven't even told my DDs. I'm worried someones going to say something in front of them. I suppose people can't help noticing but why do they have to say anything? The DDs seem oblivious so far, probably just think mums been eating too many cakes.

lilmissmummy · 23/09/2009 00:46

Hi all and hi to the newbies. sorry I wasn't here last week! I was asleep or being sick! Luckily the being sick has (touch wood) stopped. Just the tiredness left to contend with!

How is everyone?

Sorry to hear your news blondie xx

keeping my fingers and toes crossed for you jpl81!!

Rene I am ENORMOUS!!! V paranoid that I possibly could be carrying twins! I have lost 10lb since I fell pregnant but I have a big hard bump! I even have 1stretch mark already!! This is baby no. 3 so maybe that is why I am so big but I have been in maternity trousers since 7 weeks!

adelaidejo I have never had a c section but I would agree with you that a natural labour is the best and the easiest way to have a baby! I have seen what a c section does to your body (friends have had them out of necessity) and I would never chose that!!!!! Sure labour is a scary time but it is not as bad as you think it is going to be and when they put that baby into your arms - it is worth every second. Sure some people have to have a c section and it is a godsend as it saves both babies and mothers lives but if I have the choice... I'm pushing

Looking forward to hearing how you all are! Xx

nicnacinoonoo · 23/09/2009 08:50

good luck to those with scans and welcome mikkig. rene i wish i was showing its worrying me that im not. iv put weight on and my hips are bigger but definitely no bump yet just a bit of podge on my belly

lilmiss my scar is tiny and i actually like it, for me its like permanant proof of having my son. i know what you mean, i have a friend who's scar is from hip to hip but they're not all like that. i dont think mine affects my body at all.

adelaide i hope you dont think i was slagging of the hospital. i was actually very pleased with the outcome, my surgeon was lovely and made the effort to come and see me on the ward to talk to me about everything post op. he also glued me rather than stitches or staples which i was very pleased about. the experience when everyone is in your room is terrifying when going through it but that is not to say that i thought they were incompetent, quite the opposite infact.

snowtiger i was actually very calm in my labour last time. the midwives commented on how a lot of women were screaming by the stage i was at and i was sat there laughing and making jokes (until it all went pear shaped of course) so i dont really know if that would help me much. maybe if i wasnt told after having ds that i could have an elective next time i wouldnt be so bothered as i would have known all along, but to have planned on having a cs only to be told once pregnant that its not possible anymore has made me feel like everythings going wrong already! overly dramatic i know, i blame the pregnancy hormones

tostaky · 23/09/2009 08:57

nicnac - i have a DS and a job and a DP that works long hours so theres no way i can embrace my tiredness... but i wish i could! Good luck srce Adelaidjao - Yes I agree, despite my labour being a total chaos, my emcs was perfect. Baby was out in less than 5 minutes and in the arms of an excstatic DP and i was "sewn" up in what seemed a very short time and started breastfeeding straight away! My scar healed well and i have been able to stop pain killers quite quickly though even if i could not walk for miles for the first two months.

snowtiger I didnt try hypnobirthing but i did pregnancy yoga and acupuncture and both were great. My hospital offer free "preparation for labour" acupuncture sessions in the lead up to your EDD. Both were really relaxing. Yoga was really helpful to deal with contractions too and i think i could have managed just with G&A and yoga if things hadnt gone wrong. Im going to do yoga again this time and maybe acupuncture.

rene i started to show around 12 weeks but i dont show enough to fill most maternity tops though and my normal trousers still fit me. BUT today im in full mat clothing and i also asked someone in the tube for his seat, pointing to my belly (the real reason is DS has had an awful night and im REALLY tired). Not sure if i look pregnant enough to ask people for a seat but it worked, so there. Maybe i should get one of those "baby on board" badge....
