Anyone else due April 2010?

I just found out yesterday I'm 4 weeks preggers after trying for our 2nd baby for a year and half, at last!! It seemed as though it was never going to happen!

Here's to the next 8-9 months!

I have... I only have my morning cup of tea now, and then I drink water all day cuz I can't face anything else, and shock horror, I've just gone off chinese food lol...as well as a few other things...I've started wanting mashed potato and gravy for my dinner a lot as well, but then it lays really heavy on my belly...not nice !
Right...I'm not clogging up the messages any more tonight lol...I'm off to laze on the sofa and try to stay awake for wuthering heights....I'm sure having my feet rubbed all night will help hehe
Night all x

Prisci · 31/08/2009 02:49

I am also having cravings but apart from the hot chocolate, they are for fruits and veg mostly. I do want mash potatoes and egg fried rice (homemade, as I can't go near any chinese food, maybe the msg)but I can't face it since the weather is so hot. I have actually lost a bit of weight, during the last pregnancy it was steaks and sushi.

LadyOfTheFlowers · 31/08/2009 02:58

chegirl - how many boys do you have? I have 3 and to honest, I have not even thought about girls names as I don't seem to 'do' girls!

ReneRusso · 31/08/2009 09:04

Funny that, I'm quite into hot chocolate too and orangade. Still in bed with flu but sent dh out on an urgent quest for orangina yesterday

tostaky · 31/08/2009 09:25

Mistymoo - thanks but DS is not suffering from reflux... he is almost 10 months and doesnt want to sleep. he just wont settle on his own... and he sleeps very little during the day too.

im definitely into ceasar salad and hot chocolate!!!
last night we went for dinner at some friends for the first time and omg, they have tow kids under 3 but their home is GORGEOUS and clean and tidy... im so jealous.. i have only one DS and my house is so untidy

Snowtiger · 31/08/2009 11:22

Thanks for the tips on rapid return, Tweetz and Dani, that's basically what I'm doing but last night had to put DS back to bed about 16 times before DH had a go, and needless to say DS obeyed him. Think I'm going to have to be a bit sterner and not look at him / speak at all while I do it. Unfortunately we can't put a stairgate on his door, and his door doesn't shut properly (old house, weird shaped wobbly and wonky doors and frames!) so can't keep him in his room but am hoping a few consecutive nights of firm, no-nonsense rapid return will help.
Re cravings etc. I'm living on hot chocolate, as I did when pregnant with DS, but this time am craving meat and green veg which last time I couldn't bear the thought of. Am also getting through a frightening number of packets of chocolate buttons and chocolate digestives a day, which probably explains why my jeans are getting increasingly tight!
Tostaky my DS didn't sleep much as a little one, but once he was crawling and walking around more and tiring himself out he got a lot better. I encouraged him to suck his thumb which meant he could always soothe himself to sleep without needing me / a dummy / blanket or anything - would this help your DS? Good luck with it!

MrsMerryHenry · 31/08/2009 14:54

Hi, can I join? Due April with DC #2.

ReneRusso · 31/08/2009 16:07

Congratulations and welcome. Loved your post with the cake. v funny

chegirl · 31/08/2009 17:55

LadyoftheFlowers I have 3 too! I would love another girl. I have to be honest about that, I very much miss having a girl around.

I cant quite believe it will happen though and of course I will be delighted with DS4

Hi MrsMerry welcome!

Mistymoo · 31/08/2009 18:45

Hi all, I need to talk. Have been ill for a week now. Was put on antiobiotics for sinus infection. I have been really sick since I went on them, it is a side effect but it could just be MS (all day), it's so difficult to tell. I think poor dh is fed up of me moping around now. I haven't told anyone in RL so everyone is coming up with suggestions as to what to take etc. Am feeling pretty down

waspylady · 31/08/2009 19:29

Oh Mistymoo you poor thing that sound horrid. It's bad enough being ill normally, I'm sending you some hugs and lots of sympathy.

Hopefully the anti-bs will start doing their job to clear up the infection soon and you'll start to feel a bit better.....

Maybe you could also go back to see your doctor?

Try to look after yourself as much as you can, I find the duvet in front of the tv helps..

will be thinking of you and hope you feel better soon

AdelaideJo · 31/08/2009 20:49

Sorry you're feeling so rubbish Misty - I know its naff being down in the dumps and mopey around the DH, but don't forget on top of being properly unwell you're in the first Trimester of pregnancy, so you're gonna feel pretty rough anyway!

Hope you feel a lot better soon.

dani87 · 31/08/2009 21:13

well theres quiet a few ppl drinking more hot chocolate!!!

ReneRusso so funny that we are drinking the same things lol

Snowtiger well im hoping hot choc is a craving for a boy then as i have dd would love ds and i wouldnt touch choc when pregnant with dd!

Mistymoo hope your feeling better soon and ms settles soon!

LadyOfTheFlowers · 01/09/2009 00:04

chegirl - I can't see a girl happening either.
Will also be happy with DS4.

I have been doing some research and apparently, if you have 4 boys, you are in the tiny 12.something % of families that have 4 male children.
The % is even smaller for those with 4 girls.

Very rare breed family!!

Mistymoo · 01/09/2009 04:03

Ladyoftheflowers - I know 2 families that have 4 girls.

BelfastBloke · 01/09/2009 06:08

Mistymoo, look at what time you're awake! Posting at 4am! I hope you're not up because you're still feeling bad?

One thing I like about this thread is the way people take the time to welcome newcomers and to respond specifically to what people have posted.

When I posted about our names-for-the-baby session on Saturday evening, I wrote, "Best we've come up with is my favourite name, DW's favourite name, and the acronym makes a nickname we both like. Is that naff?"

Several of you asked to know what the name was before giving an opinion on its naff-ness. I'm afraid both DW and I (and many Mumsnetters at the moment) are a bit concerned about blowing our anonymity to people in RL. So would rather not say if that's all right.

Our acronym/nickname comes out to something a bit unusual, but something we're certain we like.

I was actually asking if any name which requires An Explanation is a bit naff: You know, like when a kid is named after a relative but only the short-form is used. Or if only their middle name is used. Don't people just think, "Oh FFS, why didn't you just call him THAT, then?"

LadyOfTheFlowers · 01/09/2009 08:32
Hmm
LadyOfTheFlowers · 01/09/2009 08:50

That's great! 4 girls only?
The chances are about 51/49 boy/girl apparently.
Was just pointing out to Chegirl as even though I am happy with all my boys and obv love them dearly, I would love to have a daughter - always have had. It was an interesting read for someone with same sex children, that's all.

LadyOfTheFlowers · 01/09/2009 08:51

If I could get the link to work i would put it on here! lol

Mistymoo · 01/09/2009 09:00

Belfastbloke yep I was up then because I couldn't get back to sleep. I woke up feeling sick and then spent the next wee while wretching. I still don't know if its the antibiotics or MS or a combination of both.

Bettymum · 01/09/2009 10:43

Mistymoo hope you're feeling a bit better today .
Belfastbloke names are a minefield aren't they? We didn't name DD till she was about a week or so old, then at a family event one of my SILs said, Oh, so why did you call your DD the same as ours (same surname as her DH is my DH's brother). I said - we didn't. It turns out their DD's name is the nickname that her granny had - and granny's real/full name is the name we called DD. I had no idea that their DD's name was a nickname. If you can follow all that?!
I think with this one we won't get round to naming it till it's a good few days old .
Well, touch wood I seem to be feeling better...managed to hoover the whole house yesterday and do some cleaning. Also that constant nagging sick/crampy tummy seems to have gone. Hope it doesn't come back!

MrsJ09 · 01/09/2009 10:50

Hello!

I am one of 4 girls, just wondering if the gender thing runs in families!?

Only 1 week to go until the scan - CAN'T WAIT, I think it is going to be the longest week ever! Got my first midwife appointment on Thursday, that should help keep me going!

Been getting a bit fed up over the weekend. Rant alert!! This might sound a bit nasty as I know people are only trying to be helpful but I kind of get the feeling my pregnancy is being planned out for me. I am being told how I am going to feel at what point and what I will and won't be able to do.

Up until I got pregnant I was running 30-35miles per week and I have been a runner for 5 years. And even during this first 10 weeks I have kept running but reduced the mileage and intensity and I feel great! I have also been swimming at least 3 times a week and I'm pretty sure this has helped me not get bad MS.

The problem is that nobody seems to understand that this works for me and I am totally listening to me body and not pushing myself too hard. They are acting like I am harming the baby and being reckless
It would just be nice to have some support not criticism.

Ok finished now!!

CinnabarRed · 01/09/2009 12:22

Hi everyone. Back from DP's Nan's funeral. Which was actually really beautiful - Nan would have been delighted by the turn out. The only was that Father John told the entire congregation that I'm pregnant! (He said how much it had meant to Nan in her final hours to know that another great-grandchild was on the way.) So now the entire Catholic community of DP's home town knows about our bean, and I'm only 7+3... I'm not exactly miffed, it was meant well, but I would have preferred to keep it quieter.

Mistymoo, sorry you're feeling so bad. Any improvement today? Is it worth mentioning to your doctor?

MrsJ09, I agree with your comments that exercise helps MS. Although I personally prefer to stick to swimming and walking, whether PG or not!

BelfastBloke - no offence caused by choosing not to reveal your name choice.

I'm hoping for another boy, but am sure this time it's a girl.

tostaky · 01/09/2009 12:32

well i was convinced i was carrying a girl with DS so i wont bet anything this time around! Boy or girl, i dont mind

i am going back to work in exactly two weeks and of course i want to hide the fact im pregnant for as long as i can. I have tried all my non-pg clothes just now and two skirts + 1 dress fit me well but none of my shirts/blouses do... i do have a bit of a belly now i think, im starting to show a bit. so i was thinking i should buy one of those slimming pants that "holds" things together... what do you reckon? cuz im not sure if in two weeks my dress and skirts will still fit me....
im holding on til next friday to do some shopping.

Mistymoo · 01/09/2009 12:44

Thanks for all your kind words. Am feeling better today. Mum took me out to the supermarket (I know it was exciting!) and I'm just back in. I've managed to hoover downstairs and put a wash on.

I have a Dr appt tomorrow. This is the one I tell them I'm pregnant, although I've had to say so many times at the out of hours that I think they'll know now. Anyway that will start the ball rolling for midwife appts and scan!!!

Will really need to discuss with dh when we are going to tell family. I've nearly told my mum a couple of times and my MIL too. (I'm one of the few people who are close to their MIL!).

tostaky I don't think the slimming pants are the best thing for you, they tend to be too tight and might be uncomfortable. I was thinking these might be the way to go.
