Anyone else due April 2010?

I just found out yesterday I'm 4 weeks preggers after trying for our 2nd baby for a year and half, at last!! It seemed as though it was never going to happen!

Here's to the next 8-9 months!

OP posts:

LeeWT · 29/08/2009 17:34

adelaidejo sorry to hear of the stress you've been under but i promise it wont affect the baby.. just try and look after yourself now..

rene good luck with swine flu. personally i'd be reluctant to take anything as it seems to be just the same as normal flu maybe you'd be safer riding it out but thats not a medical opinion obviously!!

ladyoftheflowers unfortunately there are quite a few of us who have suffered mcs in the past and because that leaves you a bit traumatised the lovely people in the early preg units will usually grant you an early scan to put your mind at ease - mine's on tuesday {scared witless emoticon!!}

babymonstor from what i know, once you've had one you always have the option of having another. i had one with my dd 2.5yrs ago and fully intend on having another but some people try and discourage you because it can limit the number of dcs you can have..

belfastbloke i am waiting til 12 week scan to let myself talk about it but that doesnt mean i'm not thinking about it ALL the time .. would have to hear your proposed name before i give an opinion. a gwon and tell us! speaking of names i heard a little girl called Anaya the other day and thought it was gorgeous but dh doesnt like unusual names. our dd was named by me and the surgeons because dh was so convinced it was a boy that he wouldnt discussed it with me..

LadyOfTheFlowers · 29/08/2009 18:15

Ah right I see.
I have had a miscarriage myself, so know how worrying it all is and how very distressing.

chegirl · 29/08/2009 18:37

Adlaide please try not to worry about your baby being affected by stress.

My DS3 is about the most laid back boy you will every meet and my pg with him was very stressful. I found out I was pg on the anniversary of my DD's death. It caused huge emotional upheaval and I was in a real state for a long time. All was well though. I have also been homeless and pg and my OH walked out on me whilst pg with DS2. All of my babies were born fine and appeared to have suffered no ill affects despite their mother and father's gift for bad timing .

LeeWT · 29/08/2009 18:47

chegirl sounds like you have been through the mill I hope everything goes calmly for you this pg

on a kind of unrelated topic my dd had colic as a baby and as a result of that and my overattentiveness and dh spoiling her was an extremely high maintenance baby even at 6months she wouldn't have let you out of her sight. She's a lit better now thanks to nursery etc but I really want to enjoy this maternity leave more.. Those of you who have dcs already what are your top tips for a laid back baby?!?!

chegirl · 29/08/2009 19:37

LeeWT all this has happened over nearly 18 years so not all at once thank goodness.

I think that you are likely to be more laid back yourself this time anyway. Its always difficult with your first. You tend to worry less after that. TBH I think babies laidbackness is very much down to their personality. We can kid ourselves its down to our superb parenting but I suspect otherwise

tostaky · 30/08/2009 04:10

ladyofflowers my scan will be when im 12+1 so a loooong way from now!

belfastB DP really wants to call the baby Asron if it is a boy... but i said no way, im not calling my baby after a car!! so thats where we are now. DP wants the names NOW but im more laid back and i want to wait until we knowe the gender.

LeeWT what i want is top tips for a baby that sleeps this time around!!!!!

Damn insomnia... ive been tossing in bed since 2am and im about to make pastry case bc im just SO bored!! i always sleep well except when pg...
On another note, i ordered two nice maternity tops yesterday! cant wait to get them... i want to find a nice maternity coat as well on ebay or gumtree

tostaky · 30/08/2009 04:11

belfastB of course it is Aston, not Asron....

PrincessTweetz · 30/08/2009 08:00

Morning....I lik the list as well. I'm quite behind lol, so just catching up
I'd already chose my dds name before I was even pregnant last time lol, I chose her name about 4 years before I was pregnant haha, and got really stresses whenever a celebrity had a girl in case they chose it, especially when I knew I was having girl lol.
My lil girls quite laid back, and comfortable in her own skin, and I think part of that is down to my own conscienceof it, I'm actually really shy andquiet in crowds, so I knew I wanted to encourage her to be her self, and not be 'labelled'...so I've always encouraged her to try new things with me beside her and on the other side of the room, just cuz I want her to be aware she can o things..she's actually a lot more confident than her 3 year old cousin, who's mum is actually really confident and outgoing herself, but worries about climbing the stairs and playing on the 'big kids toys' at the park. It is definitely down to their personality, but their persoality is also guided by their surroundings I believe :s

Well this is really long so sorry if I've bored you hehe, I got thru dds 2nd birthday yeserday, and all the princesses and princes had a fab time, and now I have to clean my house lol...and find room for all her ne toys !!!

PrincessTweetz · 30/08/2009 08:01

oops...I must be tired, hope you can understand the above!

LadyOfTheFlowers · 30/08/2009 08:29

tostaky - That is a long way off, I have 5.5 weeks yet till 12 weeks - have not told doc yet, am 7+3.

Would like everyone's opinion on this please -
Occaisionally, have had some twinging/throbbing on left side. Have NEVER had this before so not a clue if it's ok - though ectopic rings in my ears and scares the life out of me....
Would have thought I would know about it by now if it was?
Should I see how it goes or tell the doc it's a little bit worse than it really is and get an early scar arranged too?

LadyOfTheFlowers · 30/08/2009 08:31

scaN*

LeeWT · 30/08/2009 08:57

tostaky OMG do I want a sleeper this time!!!! Dd still wakes at least once a night and doesn't sleep if we are away from home which really discourages me from taking her away..

lotf apparently if it is ectopic it would be very sore yours sounds like stretching. If I were u I'd call your dr and once you say pains on one side he'll def send you for early scan. My hospital let's u phone directly you might have to say it's more than a twinge.. Tbh you've had previous mc so I think you're more than entitled to scan x

Neeko · 30/08/2009 09:07

Hi all. Sorry I've not been on for a while.
Counting down the minutes til my next scan on Thursday when I should be 10+2. Hoping to see big difference from last one at 8 weeks.(Due to MMC at 12 weeks last time Ladyofthe flowers)I've been very wobbly this week. A MMC takes all the fun out of being pg IMO.

Adelaidejo Sorry to hear about your "friend". Hope you're managing to move on. I'm sure it'll have no impact on your baby.

Rene Hope you're not suffering too badly. I've thought about SF a lot and think I'd just ride it out. I had a telephone consultation with the doctor about it when my BIL took it and biggest risk to the baby is through dehydration, so I hope you are managing to drink plenty.

I hope all of you hoping for a c-section this time get your wishes.

Belfast I'm impressed by how organised you are. We've not discussed names and won't be until everything is more certain. I think we'll still go with the unused boy's name from last time if it's a blue one this time.

Tostaky I'm sure you tried these but baby sleeping bags and not making eye-contact whilst keeping everything dark at night worked for us. Probably just lucky last time though!

Chegirl you definitely deserve a stress free pg this time.

Princesstweetz congrats on surviving the party. At least the toys will keep your DD busy while you clean.

Ladyoftheflowers I'm sure it's just general growing pains but if it becomes severe or you have shoulder-tip pain then contact A&E.

Mistymoo · 30/08/2009 10:29

Tostaky you should look at this

I did link to it earlier but it will get lost on this huge thread.

ThePhantomPlopper · 30/08/2009 18:27

How are we all?

AdelaideJo - Sorry your 'friend' is being such a cow, don't worry about stress, your baby won't be affected by it.

Rene - Hope your swine flu passes quickly, we had it last month, wasn't pleasant.

Ladyoftheflowers - Sounds like stretching pains, but keep an eye on it and give the midwife/doc/A&E a ring if it gets severe.

Is anyone else enjoying the pregnancy dreams? I love going to bed! They're all incredibly dirty .

I had my midwife appointment the other day, had a few issues but all is fine again, she took one look at me and said "your notes say you're 7 weeks, I assume the Doc has got that wrong" charming. I said no and she started mumbling about a scan to check for multiples. To be fair I am showing, but it's more likely to be loose muscles from the 2 babies before.

stinkypinky · 30/08/2009 19:06

Dreams! OMG! Wake up feeling as if I have been unfaithful several times over (dh is never in them, obviously).
Just as well as I feel like sh*t all day, so no chance of the real thing...

I have been on leave for 2 weeks since BFP (good timing) and go back tomorrow. Have just applied for promotion so really want to keep it quiet - might be difficult with all the vomit though.

I do not even have a date for midwife yet, and my scan is a long way off. Apparently in Scotland we only get 1 scan unless there are concerns... last dc was born in England

LadyOfTheFlowers · 30/08/2009 19:11

Thanks ladies.
I also think its okay, but have never experienced it on the one side before that's all. If it gets worse I will deffo get checked out.

blondie10 · 30/08/2009 19:20

Just had a catch up after 2 days not being able to go online..it takes a while but it is nice to hear about everyone's experiences!

I have a question re exercise...I have been training (when I say 'training' it is mostly maximum of 3 times a week, sometimes only once for about 5k's....)for a 10K charity run which is happening in 2 weeks time. I'm very undecided whether to do it or not as with my last pregnancy I wasn't really doing any exercise so didn't start any up, except walking....I know it is good to keep fit during pregnancy with swimming, walking etc but don't know if running is OK...is anyone out there that runs? Would be happy for some advice!

Pillia78 & Bluemoomin - I was induced with my DD at 42 weeks so if the same happens again the wedding will be a month later...i may have to dash off mid ceremony to change the B-pads and give a quick feed!! Am sure my friend will understand! I got married recently and my sis was 20 weeks pregnant - we found a lovely dress - all the bridesmaids / flowergirls dresses were a bit mix and match so hopefully my friend will like that look too!! You're right though - I think empire line is definitely the way to go!

AdelaideJo · 30/08/2009 19:46

blondie10 I am a casual (and I MEAN casual) runner but stopped the first month I was TTC as I just felt crap generally...conceived second month but I haven't run now for about 10 weeks and am in a real unfit mess. I went swimming today and could barely manage a couple of lengths without puffing out bigtime!

I would like to get a couple of runs in but breasticles are agonising at the moment.

Phantom My belly and midriff is totally sagged now due to a lack of any exercise or pilates and I most definately look pregnant. I'm only 6 weeks so I anticipate the same response when I tell people. The mammoth belly is coming whether we like it or not so who cares when it starts I say!!!

chegirl · 30/08/2009 19:47

Hello all!

I woke up today feeling.........FINE!!!! yippeeeeeeee.

Lets hope it lasts. I was beginnning to give up all hope of being normal again. I cleaned the bedrooms and did the shopping. I bought tons of food because I am starving all the time. Luckily I am craving healthy stuff specially fruit. I treated my self to some ready prepared stuff. It made me think of that thread on here about poor people buying ready cut fruite

I am 8 + 1 now. I am beginning to get used to the idea so now I am worrying about it all going wrong. Typical.

I have been putting off going to the doctors but I suppose I should make my appt. I will never get my scan otherwise.

I have been thinking about boy's names. i cant believe I will have a girl. I like luca and rudy so far. I have a habit of giving my babies lots of names and they tend to be a bit on the rock n roll side .

I hope you are all ok and hold on if you are feeling rubbish. It WILL get better (fingers crossed)

I am still not sleeping though. What a bore.

PrincessTweetz · 30/08/2009 19:52

Thanks neeko. I did survive the cleaning as well lol. She has a bike that she loves, (but can't ride so she always wants a push!!) a chalkboard and a talking igglepiggle that have kept her occupied very well today!! Not so well that we didn't have a nast accident to clean up tho .....not so nice on the day you haveall day sickness....but that's kids ay!! [wink}
I wish I had dreams like those hehe...I just have nightmares!!

Snowtiger · 30/08/2009 20:00

Evening ladies! I'm back after a week's holiday in Spain with all of the family (10 of us, inc. DH & DS, my parents, brother & SIL & kids) which included DS's 2nd birthday. Am exhausted! A week of MS and not drinking while surrounded by family who were all drinking and whose only comment re my being pg was 'what a stupid time to get pg, you'll miss out on the booze'. Oh, and my mum referring to my little bean as a 'comma', which is about as insignificant a thing to compare a baby to as you can get, I think. AIBU to get upset about that?!!
Anyway, home now and back into normal routine, DS being a s*d and climbing out of his toddler bed all the time when he should be asleep, and me feeling crabby and crap most of the time. Fun!
Am also v bloated, have a tum already and am going to make an assault on Bluewater on Weds to get some maternity clothes, and treating myself to a trip to Rigby & Peller for some decent maternity bras as my boobs are squashed & sore!
Glad to see so many newbies on the list, it's taken me ages to read through it all and catch up on the 7 pages that have amassed since I went away.
Got home to see I've got a scan appt. on 28 Sept which is really exciting. Am 8 weeks today and can't wait to see how little one's doing. Cripes I hope it's just the one...!
Right, off to growl at DS and tell him to get the hell back into bed one more time. Any advice, BTW? Am starting to think should put cot bars back up on cot bed but that feels like it'd be failure...

ThePhantomPlopper · 30/08/2009 20:21

Tweetz - Nightmare aren't good! I had wild sex with Henry VIII the other night, try watching the Tudors before bed, it might help .

PrincessTweetz · 30/08/2009 20:31

Haha....I might just try that Give me something to think about when I wake in the early hours and can't get back to sleep hehe
Snowtiger, my dd does the same thing, altho she'sbeen in a bed since 15 months, she finds it much easier to get out now grrr! I just do rapid return...I say I, cuz dp cannot manage it as many times as me lol, sometimes she decides se just doesn't need sleep, and will climb out constantly....very iring!! I don't speak to her, or kiss her goodnight after the second time she gets out of bed, and just go straight in and pick her up, and put her in bed. On bad nights she will have a bit of a scream, but I've quickly learned that she's not traumatised, and will stop crying if she's brought down, and hve a nice cheeky lil grin on her face as well! And to make things easier, I'll sometimes just sit in my room so I don't have to tackle the stairs...she gives up pretty quickly, but only once she's realised she's deffo not coming down...good luck xxxx

dani87 · 30/08/2009 20:57

Snowtiger i have same problem with dd she also gone into cotbed i just ignored her as if i went into her she thought it was a game now i leave her and she soon gets bored and gets back into bed!(i have stairgate on her door!). Well thought the sickness was easing of with the tablets i was given but it seems to have come on worse over the weekend haven't been able to eat anything. It maybe because i reduced the tabs down to 2 a day like the hospital told me to but now im debating weather to go back up to 3 a day again. Its strange as i have gone of tea coffee (a good thing) but seems to be only able to drink orangeade and hot choc. as anyone else gone of certain drinks/foods?
