Anyone else due April 2010?

I just found out yesterday I'm 4 weeks preggers after trying for our 2nd baby for a year and half, at last!! It seemed as though it was never going to happen!

Here's to the next 8-9 months!

Can I just throw a spanner in the works and say that my scan last week (7+2) was on my tummy. Helps if you have a fullish bladder (but not too much bowel gas ).

waspylady · 28/08/2009 11:39

Oh that's interesting Bettymum I will be 7+5 by then but unfortunately am suffering from a lot of bowel gas! ( sorry tmi)

MummyLovesSadie · 28/08/2009 11:59

mummyniknik i had a terrible experience as well last time but im thinking about having a doula or an independent midwife with me... not sure yet as it is quite pricey and since i have had a csection last time i may have to have another one this time and if elective wont need a doula/indp mw...

whats good about the portland hosputal?

re-list: i like knowing whos due around me but its true it is quite long and take space. Maybe we can update with the gender once we all know

I am completly shattered, i eat crap bc i cant be bothered to cook. just glad im taking prenats so i get some vitamins. i spent two hrs slobbing on the sofa under a blanket, freezing cuz my body is always cold, half sleeping/half keeping an eye on DS... then i decided to do something got shower, dressed up, drove to baby group only to find that it was closed until sept.... grr
back in bed with ds napping against me and no lunch ready for neither of us. i hate to give him baby jars oh well it is just a phase i keep telling myself in three weeks ill be ok (im 9+1)

stinkypinky · 28/08/2009 13:33

In my last pregnancy I had two early scans - 7 weeks and 9 weeks - both tummy. I guess it just depends on the hospital.

mummyniknik · 28/08/2009 14:01

Hi Tostaky,

Well my problem lat time wasn't actually so much the staffing although they were frightfully overstaffed so I was left on my own lots but the main problem was that the hospital was full - they had no delivery rooms available and there was nothing we could do about it. I spend most of my induced and extremely painful labour in a post-natal ward so at least at the Portland, you are guaranteed a room. It is worth the money for me just for that reason! I know lightening rarely strikes twice but I just cannot take that risk.

I just wondered if anyone had used the MLD care or whether I should use the consultant led care. I didn't actually have any complications last time so I don't actually think I need a dedicated consultant... It is confusing!

LeeWT · 28/08/2009 14:15

speaking of tummy/internal scans.. i will be 8+3 when i go on tuesday but my tummy is far from toned and flat and i'm size 16+ so am assuming will have to have an internal if i want to see a heartbeat.. yeuch!

am feeling pretty much hungover all day now.. i say hungover coz thats what it feels like but am eating soooo much! i'd say i'll only get another fortnight out of my own clothes

I think we should keep the list but maybe only update it every couple of days. i'm sure we'll have less additions in a while and as someone said it'll be nice to add births on when the time comes! would be interesting to see how many people will find out the sex.. i'm not going to unless (like a fortune teller told me) i'm having twins

MrsJ09 · 28/08/2009 14:38

Just made an appointment for my dreaded Colposcopy, at least the fit me in with a lady doctor which will make it a little more bareable

Oh well I better get used to all this poking a prodding around down there as in about 6months I will have no choice!!!

b

stinkypinky · 28/08/2009 15:29

MrsJO9 good luck with the colposcopy - when is it for? (so we can hold your hand)

LeeWT - I was the same as you (squidgy tum, size etc) and I had tummy scans - they just need to press a little harder, and might tut tut a bit. I would not accept an internal unless they had tried tummy first. I was told by a fortune teller I would have many children but late in life... miscarriage at 26 - told not able to have children the year after, dd at 37, pregnant again (obviously!), triplets in family - looking forward to scan! How would you feel if it is twins???

waspylady · 28/08/2009 17:51

Evening everyone
I made my first trip to mothercare today and bought new bras! Very nice lady in there and I'd gone up one cup size.....no wonder they were feeling a bit squashed!

LeeWT · 28/08/2009 18:16

stinky ooh well hopefully they'll be able to see something then i'd much prefer tummy scan!! i would love twins! dont get me wrong i have no delusions it would be bloody hard work .. but because we want three kids and so that would be it! bam - 3 kids including dd .. i find pregnancy quite hard tbh even though i love some parts of it..

a fortune teller told me i would either have two children very close together or twins, i suppose i had my mc in may and am preg now? not usually into pyschics etc but they're a bit of fun ;-)

will be interesting to see if we have any multiple births, it'll get interesting in the next 2-6 weeks when everyone starts having their 12 week scans..

thighsmadeofcheddar · 28/08/2009 19:12

Hi ladies,

I'm sorry to have not been posting. I've been feeling absolutely dire, i'm really struggling. Peppa and Granny Murray are doing a nice job of entertaining my DD.

I hope everyone is doing okay. I know it's late, but I'm sorry fifi.

I don't have my scan till another 10 days. It's killing me wondering what's happening. And my booking in appointment follows that. It's a weird waiting game.

Is anyone else having the dreaded pregnancy insomnia? I keep waking up what seems like every 20 mins from 1am - 5pm.

Anyway take care all xx

AdelaideJo · 28/08/2009 19:34

Hey everyone,

I was wondering if anyone has had any seriously upsetting situations/huge amounts of stress since their pregnancies began?
(not that I'm trying to bring us all down but I kind of need a bit of gee'ing up)...

This week our flat sale fell through at the eleventh hour, which was pretty stressful but we have come through it not owing too much money. It was stress but just the normal stress really.
Today however, i've had the most upsetting falling out with an old friend, which has culminated in her saying really cruel and unforgivable things. What began as a misunderstanding has opened floodgates (on her part) to enable her to sabotage our friendship in a way that shows she's been wanting us to finish things for a while.
I'm not trying to be cryptic purposely but its really upsetting to talk about, to do with with my ex-DH and why my friend believes my DP and I had our DS.

Anyway my point is that I feel really low and disconnected from the pregnancy, just kind of numb this evening - I know crying is the norm for us at the moment with hormones and stuff but this is different, she's really undermined my family and how we came about, if you see what I mean. And we've known each other for 21 years so its really hit me for six. Every twinge I have I'm feeling nervous, because I've packed such a lot of stress and upset into the last 4 days and I know thats not good for pregnancy. Can anyone reassure that the ups and downs (the worst type of downs) aren't going to have consequences? I'm only 5 weeks

MummyLovesSadie · 28/08/2009 19:42

Adelaidejo pah to your so-called friend. Its always those closest to us that can hurt us the most. Two day before I found out I was pregnant in 2007 with my dd, my sister unexpectedly died. As you can imagine I was overcome with grief & sadness for much of the pregnancy. My dd is now nearly 2 & very healthy & happy.

All you can do now is try to focus on your little bean & try to ignore all outside influences.

ReneRusso · 28/08/2009 22:32

AdelaideJo, sorry to hear what you're going through. I'm sure there is no negative impact on your baby. Try and look at the positives if you can. You are getting rid of the dead wood that is your ex friend, and creating a beautiful new life.

On another matter, I think I am getting swine flu. My DD has had it for the last few days and been quite poorly and I've been cooped up at home with her. And tonight I have a sore throat, so could be the start of sf. I could get Relenza, but not sure if its safe in the 1st trimester. There's not much information. I would rather ride it out, but I have to decide quite soon, as you have to start taking anti-virals early on I think. Does anyone have a view? Thanks.

Scarlett175 · 28/08/2009 22:37

Can I join in...

I am a very excited first time mum, and I am due on April 22nd!!!! have had a really tough week working away from home so have been reading up on here to cheer me up..

At the mo I am 6 weeks... at first I consciously felt different and could definitely feel some stretching down there, but this week- NOTHING! boobies tiny bit sensitive but not really sore, no sickness, nothing.

Is this normal????

ReneRusso · 28/08/2009 22:43

Hi Scarlett and welcome. I haven't felt many symptoms either and I'm 8 weeks.
Although I did feel sick tonight and retched when making the dinner. Was quite pleased

mcchesers · 29/08/2009 03:58

AdelaideJo - I am really sorry about your friend..but you don't need this stress right now. Don't sweat the twinges...totally normal at 5 weeks.

I'm 8 weeks and symptoms come and go. The nausea waxes and wanes..bleh. The exhaustion is harder to deal with than anything else.

Oh the good news is I had my scan on Weds and saw a happy little bean with a nice heartbeat !!

Starting to get excited about it all now

Thinking about your girls with MS. Hang in there x

babymonster · 29/08/2009 07:55

after having a terrible labour and emergency ceasarean with my last pregnancy I am hoping to be able to have a ceasarean this time without the labour. Does anyone know if I have a right to ask for one on the NHS or will I have to go private? Last pregnancy was 2 1/2 years ago so worried they will say its been long enough to try naturally. Was a straightforward pregnancy but ds just wouldn't come out.

BelfastBloke · 29/08/2009 10:39

Had a big session last night on potential names.

Girl's name is probably sorted (as it was almost instantly with DD), but boy's name is a problem (as it was last time).

Best we've come up with is my favourite name, her favourite name, and the acronym makes a nickname we both like. Is that naff?

And is it tempting fate to even mention names this early? we're 7+4 today!

LadyOfTheFlowers · 29/08/2009 10:43

Let me apologise first in case I put my foot in it - but how come so many of you are having scans at around 7/8 weeks?

Differences in different regions care or previous problems?

MummyLovesSadie · 29/08/2009 11:51

Lady I'm having one due to 2 previous mc's. Don't be embarrassed!

ReneRusso · 29/08/2009 12:28

Lady, no early scan for me, unfortunately
BabyMonster, I have no intention of trying to deliver naturally after previous problems. I am hoping to be offered elective CS on the NHS and I expect you will have that option too. I guess it all depends on the hospital and the consultants attitude. You can mention it when you book in, but you might not get a straight answer until much later on.

thedollshouse · 29/08/2009 14:47

BelfastBloke, you have to tell us what the nickname is before we say whether it is naff or not.

I am glad that you have discussed names already, dh is just not interested in baby names at all! As soon as I mention them his eyes glaze over and he remembers something else he is supposed to be doing. We have a list of 3 names for boys and 11 for girls. I find choosing a girls names so much harder than chosing a boys name.

AdelaideJo · 29/08/2009 16:53

Thanks for the support - I really appreciate it and feel much better today - went off and bought Miriam Stoppard's updated baby manual as I stupidly gave my old one I used with DS to charity!?

Have felt the most exhausted i've felt so far today, went on an ill-fated shopping trip which was just stupid stupid stupid! (although DS did have a hair cut).

On subject of names, we had a list of 5 boys and 5 girls; we keep referring back to it now but i'm sure they'll be additions. Last time around my Mum kept asking me "what do you think of ..... as a name?" despite me saying over and over that we "had our list!"

ReneRusso - I can't think of anything helpful re; the Swine flu and I feel for you. I do work in healthcare though and have been told that a definate symptom is a temperature of above 38 degrees (alongside a host of other flu like symptoms). That said, i'd just ring your GP this evening and explain the extremely close contact you've had with your DD.... lots of luck with that.
