Anyone else due April 2010?

I just found out yesterday I'm 4 weeks preggers after trying for our 2nd baby for a year and half, at last!! It seemed as though it was never going to happen!

Here's to the next 8-9 months!

I had my booking in appointment today, thought it would make the pregnancy feel more real, but it hasn't helped, very few, very mild symptoms and I feel totally unable to bond with the pregnancy ATM.

Fifiboys so sorry to hear your news. Please come and join us on the thread that MummylovesSadie linked to. It is full of wonderful ladies who understand and who have kept me sane since my MMC in March. You'll have great support there for the next week and be made welcome for any time that you need it after that. I truly hope you're not having a MMC as the experience is horrible. Had my first midwife appointment yesterday and she has given me my first 12 week dating scan (plus nuchal fold test) for 6th October!

Can anyone help .....

My sister has just announced she is getting married at Christmas! I am bridesmaid ... but I haven't told anyone I am PG yet! Am stressing about maternity bridesmaid dreses and spoiling her photos!
Can you get maternity bridesmaid dresses or do I get a much larger size and get it altered nearer the time???!!!!

Fifisboys asked that her name be removed. As no-one has yet done it I will.

I hate to though - that time in our lives was just horrible, and my heart goes out to her. Thinking of you fifisboys.

Hey Bluemoomin, I have a similar issue as my best mate has just announced she is engaged and has asked me to be bridesmaid!! She is getting married in June and wants the Hen do in May, There is no way I can go to the hen do with a tiny baby and am dreading telling her!! There are loads of nice maternity dresses otu there though.....

Bluemoomin I had a pregnant bridesmaid when i got married and there were very little maternity bridesmaid dresses to choose from. We decided the best thing to do is like you said, buy a bigger size and have it altered. My bridesmaid looked fab in her altered dress and matched my other (non pregnant) bridesmaid as the dresses were the same. You would have never known that it was an altered dress not a maternity dress...

There are several websites who do maternity bridal + wedding dresses. Otherwise you could always go for something which is empire line as it would fit under your bust then your belly would be free!!

Morning everyone
I have a bit of silly question...what is it best to wear for a scan, skirt or trousers or does it not make any difference?

Not had one before and was wondering if it is easy to just undo trousers or if both have to come off anyway?????

You don't have to take trousers off. You just have to slip them down a bit. You could do the same with a skirt so I don't think it really matters.

Hope you enjoy your scan, it's amazing seeing you baby for the first time.

waspylady just wear something with a comfortble waistband that you can push down a little. Your clothes won't have to come off
You will lift your top a bit and they'll put tissue over your waistband to stop the gel getting on it. Beware, the gel will be cold when it goes on!
I'm wearing maternity trousers today!!!!! Can't believe it! I haven't put any weight on but I'm just...rounder. Ooh, they are so much comfier than my normal work trousers

Scan is next Tuesday, will be 7+5 and am feeling really nervous that there will be nothing there........which is prob why I'm obsessing about silly things like what to wear.......but am also excited, it will make it seem more real.

waspylady make sure you have a full bladder otherwise they might have to do an internal to get the best picture.......for my scan yesterday I had trousers on and you pull them down a bit......

I hope people don't mind me asking but alot of you on here seem to have already had scans well before the 10-12 weeks. Is that just because things get done differently in other places or because you have had problems. I am just over 9 weeks now and still have until wk 11 before my scan - i'm so impatient and just want to know everything is ok

Good luck waspy MrsJ I had an early scan because I had a MC in June, and then was having awful pains last week, so the GP sent me to the EPU to check that all was well. I suspect, although I don't know, that if I hadn't had a previous MC she probably wouldn't have referred me, as there was no bleeding and I think that actually crampy pains are quite common in the early stages. Certainly in my first pg I didn't have a scan till the nuchal scan at 12 weeks.
Sympathies for you having to wait to see your bub! I'm sure it will be fine. I have to make my nuchal appointment this week, can't wait to see the baby again

I am paying to have a private early scan. Reason is that next Thurs am off to stay with in-laws for 10 days. With my reputation as a heavy drinker and mil a nurse there is no way we can get away without telling them the news.

As a longed for first grandchild there will be huge excitement and I couldn't bear the idea of telling them then having a scan at 12 weeks and find that I'd actually had a mmc weeks before.

So basically trying to get a bit of reassurance before having to break the news. The waiting is sooo hard though, I've known since 4 weeks and the days/weeks seem to be really dragging!

I was very brave today and went to the doctors to tell her about the pregnancy. I was in a right state, convinced that I would immediately start bleeding as I said the word 'pregnant' out loud! Dr was lovely and rang the EPU for me whilst I was there and booked me a scan for Wednesday next week. I should be nearly 7 weeks so hopefully there will be something to see.

I feel much better actually for seeing the doctor and just keep repeating, 'it will be fine' alternately with 'what will be will be.'

mrsj I had two miscarriages last year, although I do have two children already, which I presume is why the Dr took pity on me.

Mrs J It also depends on where you live. For eg as far as I know you only get one scan in Scotland unless there are any complications etc. With my DS I only had one at 9 wks but with DD I had quite a few as she was breech.

Thanks to you all for your messages and support...it is definatley all over for me now...things have happened today but im not bringing t he thread down...and i will be trying again just as soon as i can so hopefully wont be too far behind you.x
