As we all talk so fast the last thread is nearly full so thought I would start us off on a new one

OP posts:

mowmi Glad scan went okay can't believe how fast this pregnancy is going.

rainbowdays · 05/09/2009 22:50

Hope you don't mind me popping back, I am keeping an eye on you ladies, so happy to see your pregnancies going well, but also wanted to put in a couple of personal messages too:

londonlottie - the pics of your little girlies are beautiful, do come and chat sometime on the grads thread too.

alfiesmadmother - good to see one of the ttc#4 mad ones doing well here, I am the only one left on the ttc#4 thread left not pregnant now, got 3 more 'carrots' this week!

Mowmi - so happy the scan went well, after our crazy time with the horrible clearblue sticks, I am pleased that all worked out well for you.

anniemac - great to see your pregancy coming along nicely too. Have you see the latest hut news?

As for me, I have just taken a month off of ttc as I had yet another m/c, but hopeful that it will still happen for me yet.

alfiesmadmother · 06/09/2009 08:23

Rainbowdays-thank you for remembering me! Just logged on to catch up and saw my name, lovely Good luck to you this month!

I am 21+ weeks now and have had my 2 scans. They said they are pretty sure it is a GIRL! After 3 boys I do not believe them, so daren't buy any pink though I am desperate to!

Sorry to hear about those struggling in any waym My ailments are varicose veins and sleepless nights, grrr. But guess that's not tooooo bad. Will update my dates.

CantThinkofFunnyName · 06/09/2009 08:51

Morning all. In agony this morning . For couple of hours have had really really bad period pain cramps - having to breath through them! I had painful braxton hicks with the 2 previous pregnancies - but can't remember them starting this early . Keep wondering whether to call delivery suite (as all other options closed on a Sunday) but don't actually think I'm in labour, but am a little concerned about whether this is normal.

No bleeding or anything though - just lots of pain.

timmette · 06/09/2009 09:38

cantthinkoffunnyname why not call them anyway best to be safe.

FifiForgot · 06/09/2009 09:58

cantthinkoffunnyname I would second calling the delivery suite, if only to put your mind at rest.

Fraochsmum · 06/09/2009 10:31

Yeah I think I would call them too - best to let them know and perhaps they can help.
I thought I had sciatica, but after a wee look online I think it's pelvic girdle pain. Has anyone else had this and what did you do to ease it?
A couple of nights ago I saw my first kick and DP got to feel him! It was really nice, especially for him. It has now dawned on me that I have been feeling them for sometime now but put it down to trapped wind because it feels the same!

Hi all. Well back from observations etc and they diagnose Irritable Bowel Syndrome. How embarrassing! Apparently in pg, its quite common to get these type of cramps/pains associated with constipation. BUT I've been going just fine. Anyway, have anti-spasm drugs and strong painkillers, so hopefully will ease up soon x

timmette · 06/09/2009 16:19

That's great that it's nothing serious about your pregnancy - I had IBS before and it is very uncomfortable. I hope you feel better soon.

dal21 · 06/09/2009 19:42

Cantthink - I had seen your thread on the pregnancy board, well done for getting it checked out. Gotta love pregnancy havent you! Am glad all is well!

Good luck to those with scans this week.

Mowmi - congrats on your scan!

lilacpink · 06/09/2009 20:51

Mowmi Great news on the scan.
Re. the pain I have this too (pains in pelvis getting up, walking etc.) and SPD was diagnosed. It started a bit around week 16, but only painful in week 20+. See your GP as early as possible for a physio appoint, I'm having to wait until week 23 to see one (referral requested in week 20). Talking to a friend who had SPD, physio really helped her, most people only need a few appoints, but she went for 10 weeks as her pelvis/hips were so badly aligned due to preg hormones her legs were different lengths!
A few bits of advice that have helped me: if you roll over at night, pull your legs (together) up to your chest before you roll. Sit down rather than raise a leg - e.g. getting dressed. Get out of a car with both your legs together, and when getting in sit down first. If something hurts (e.g. exercise position) don't do it! I'm also wearing a light band every day (soft band), and a mothercare one when walking for awhile too (about £12, but I think has helped me).

quirkychick · 06/09/2009 21:00

mowmi congratulations on your scan!

CantThink glad you are all ok, but wind/digestion in pg can feel very odd and scary like period cramps so you were right to get it checked.

We had our scan on Fri and its...another girl. Dp is really pleased and I'm just happy everything seems ok. It just proves that I'm crap at guessing the sex as I thought both pgs were boys (unless we end up in the 2% that are wrong!).

The little bump wouldn't play ball and after 3 attempts I have to go back for another scan at 24wks to check the face and heart. Hoping all ok as I've still got the 1/224 risk factor for down's in my head.

Also, the ob/gyn talked to me about elective c-section and although nothing is booked I said that this would be my preferred option. It looks like it would be at 39wks but if I laboured spontaneously beforehand they wouldn't let me go very long/induce me and the baby would need constant monitoring. Which doesn't sound very hopeful for VBAC, really.

I also have another scan at 28wks for growth. I know I need to see the clinic at 32/36 wks too but not sure if that's for scans as well.

Sorry, have run on about me!

chickbean · 06/09/2009 21:27

I'm 20 weeks and already getting quite breathless. I don't remember it happening this early before. Is this normal?

sockmonkey · 07/09/2009 10:23

chickbean - I have been a little bit breathless, but nothing too bad yet. Not sure if it's normal this early on, or if I'm just not as fit as I was.

I've been having trouble sleeping, just can't seem to switch off and get comfortable. I was half considering getting up at 2am. It seems very unfair to feel tired all the time, but not be able to sleep. DS2 seems to have the nack of wandering in to our room just as I've dozed off (about 2.30) and waking me up again.
I guess it's just practice for when LO comes along.

CantThinkofFunnyName · 07/09/2009 10:23

Chickbean - yes, it can certainly happen in pg. I'm asthmatic and in both other pregnancies, the asthma pretty much cleared up altogether - just for the 9 months. Others I know, get asthma or wheeziness for the first time ever during pregnancy - and then it goes afterwards. All quite odd. But in any event, you can start getting wheezy/breathless anyway because of the shifting upwards of baby and uterus and it starts pressing on the diaphragm. V common later on but dont worry too much about it happening now. If you are really having trouble breathing, go to your GP straight away though. They would probably prescribe you a salbutomol inhaler for the next few months to ease the symptoms.

Quirkychick - Congrats on the little girl!! I'm sure everything will be fine with the further scans - just think, MORE opportunities to see the little one . Let us know how you get on with mode of delivery and dates. I have to wait until 10 November now for them to determine one way or t'other for me - boo hiss.

Oh well, MUST do some housework today. Kids went back to school this morning and it could be just far too easy to sit on this addictive site all day.....

bethoo · 07/09/2009 10:29

londonlottie varicous veins are permant and weight gain can be lost so which would you rather have?

I have had period pain since the beginning of this pregnancy...I just figured it was normal, or at least normal for my body...I also get bad abdominal pain if I stand up from sitting too fast or use what used to be tummy muscles...once again has been happening for ages. Just wondering what constitutes something to be concerned about...is it anything that's new or feel odd to you, or is there a set list somewhere?

londonlottie perfect size zero sounds like an oxymoron to me, never mind how odd that iis when pregnant. I feel quite sorry for your friend.

quirkychick · 07/09/2009 12:24

somewhathorrified I definitely get the shooting abdominal pain if I stand up to fast/roll over in bed quickly. Mw said it was normal.

My asthma is not too bad but flared up at about 7mths with dd. I have caught dd's cold now so will start serotide inhaler to counteract cold. Haven't been sick or even felt sick for 2 days, though (whispers).

CantThinkofFunnyName · 07/09/2009 12:25

Somewhat - I don't think there's a set list somewhere, more's the pity, but anything that is new or unusual to YOU, is more what you should be concerned about. I have all kinds of funny aches and pains, get lots of dizziness, lots of headaches etc. Some people would probably get concerned about the headaches/dizziness, but its absolutely normal for me throughout pregnancy (3 times so far).

Just to let everyone know, I have NOT yet started on the housework, despite promises to myself many hours ago that I would. Have not been stuck on MN all that time and did actually do some chores which involved computer usage

canthinkofafunnyname that's kind of what I've been working on, tbh it's prob better there is no list or I'd tuern into a hypochondriac! Also so glad I'm not the only who's not started the chores yet

Biccy · 07/09/2009 14:53

CTOAFN, I had a funny tummy a few weeks back, and was awake for a couple of hours one night breathing through 'contractions'... would have been similarly worried if I hadn't had other tummy symptoms, so was confident it was those sort of cramps, but it felt just like labour tbh.

crumpette · 08/09/2009 08:30

mowmi congrats on the scan

Back at work after few days off moving house {exhausted emoticon}

I seem to have suddenly had a growth spurt, I was worried I had got smaller and didn't look pregnant until.. today.. no work clothes at all to fit! Have mooched in in a really accidentally tight black top and granny cardigan to hide the disasters beneath , oh and maternity trousers.. usually would wear suit-esque things and shirts

Am up unbeliavably early because I managed to lock the keys inside the new flat yesterday, and DP has gone there early from the old flat to accept furniture deliveries with no keys and try to break in ! Well he did say he had everything with him before I shut the door..

hmmm... have got over my horror of having a boy, sort of, in the circumstances I think I would have found having a girl very hard and trying not to compare her with DD would have been impossible, I would have been permanently disappointed, resented her for not being DD and she would have hated me, so it's probably the best thing really. (Still want to make use of all my girly clothes though will want a girl next!)

lottie how is Zurich?
