Thought I'd start a new thread as No 3 is pretty long now! If anyone knows how to link between the 2 threads can you put one in - I'm not called Jellybrain by accident you know .

Had a job interview yesterday but, haven't heard anything back yet . I don't think my preparation was all that good and was pretty busy over the weekend with birthday party preparations and was consequently shattered.

OP posts:

Oh Kate, I'm sorry to hear you had such an awful time. Big Hugs. I hope that's the scary stuff out of the way and it's all boring from now on.

Eulalia, I have those spider veins too and I just find them awful, all over the back of my knees, my ankles and thighs. I just hope they don't turn into varicose veins now.

Also, while I'm whining, for the past two weeks my pubic bone has been hurting and I'm so scared that it'll turn into SPD, which I've heard is just the worst thing.

...and then my boss wants me to work extra hours even though she knows I'm not feeling great, she keeps telling me that it's in my contract(which admittedly it is), and that, when she was pregnant she was feeling better than ever ... mpffff...

Oh yes, the weather up here in Scotland has been atrocious while England had a heatwave. Today it's 7 Celsius and pouring rain, not fair ! It's meant to be June.

I still haven't bought a single thing for my baby as I'm so busy at work and now I'm worried that because of the extra hours plus my sore pelvis the baby will have to sleep in the dog bed.

Enough whining methinks.

Hey, we're all gonna have babies soon !!!

Miaou · 01/06/2005 17:03

Hi folks, so sorry to hear about your crap weekend Kate - sounds bloody awful! I hope you manage to get some R&R from now on.

I've still not got a cot mattress, car seat or nappies (going for reusable ones), but am stocking up on the clothes, thanks to my mum and to mumsnet! We have applied for a surestart grant which should come through soon so I hope to be able to get these last few bits then.

My mum announced to me last week that she and my dad are going down to England the week before I am due to a ball - leaving us with no childcare if I should go into labour . To be fair to them, they are going down on the Friday night and travelling back on the Sunday, and it is a family do for my aunt who has terminal cancer - but I am dreading telling dh and it will seriously stress me out until they are back. They are generally really good at "being there" for us but seem to let us down when we need them most. If I go into labour that w/e we will have to take the kids with us which is my worst nightmare.

leahbump · 01/06/2005 19:34

Hi everyone- welcome new folk too!! Feeling very heartburny 24/7 atm- which is making me feel really poo! Other than that only 10 weeks left to go (I hope!).

Kate- great taste on the hop skip bag....trying to decide between the duo and the expo here as i'll be carrying stuff for 2 under 2. (I've been searching for the right bag since ds was born...not found it yet!)

Saw my reflexologist last week who thinks that baby is a looong one! Ds was off the chart for length although was only 7lb 2oz...so goodness knows really..will be interesting to see if she's right though!

Wonder who'll go pop first....should be have a fresh posting of the due date list??

josey · 01/06/2005 21:22

Oh Kate love and hugs, loads of vibs to you that things will settle down for you,

Maiou i think you will need to keep your legs crossed that weekend and not even move incase you set anything off, but hey what are the odds in you going into labour then? were you early with your girls?

I seem to be having one disaster after another but wont bore you with them.

I have the cold again and leahbump total sympathy on the heart burn i havent slept the last few nights with its i actually woke up in time last night just before i heartburn sicked over my pillow mmmm nice!!!and the night before i was sick for an hour solid 3rd trimester memorys are flooding back now gaviscon is my new best friend.

I have the clinic tomorrow again with physio to see about by back/hip but it seems to have vanished the last two day and i just know that if i cancel the appointment i will wake up Friday a million times worse.

Rochwen I think us scots need to do a sun dance well waddle the rain is unreal it just never stops

Miaou · 02/06/2005 10:10

God the rain!!! It's unrelenting on us Scots!!!!

Josey, I was 5 days early with dd1 and 5 days late with dd2, so who knows? Tbh I'm more stressed about dh's reaction when I tell him - he will get really worked up about it. I kind of take the attitude that they'll just have to come with us and watch tv in the dayroom or sleep on the chairs in there (if nighttime) - it's just one more thing that I don't want to have to think about really!

Huge sympathies for those with heartburn - it's finally started for me, and I feel very fortunate because I had it from about 5 months with the other two! I drink a glass of milk before I go to bed each night and so far that has really helped - however, started to suffer during the day a bit now!

Last night I slept with a pillow between my legs for the first time and couldn't believe what a difference it made. The last week or so I have had such painful hips that I woke up several times during the night and was in agony for most of the day - today I am almost pain-free! I wish I'd tried it earlier!

Eulalia · 02/06/2005 10:22

Rochwen - ha ha on the dog bed

The rain has been depressing me too particularly as I don't have my car at the moment and we've been walking to school....

Miaou - what a worry as if you haven't got enough to worry aboutt just going into labour without childcare on top of it.

Well its a bit warmer here today - perhaps I can just wear the one cardigan instead of two.

jantogan · 02/06/2005 11:52

what a miserable day in London, grey and cold,I missed real summer I am thinking about the delivery too much, even my dreams has chanced. My baby is more active this days,he is kicking me very strong
Yes Miaou, you are right, maternity pillows are very helpful for back pain,I got one last month and my DH said to me "You never hug me like this pillow"

Rochwen · 02/06/2005 17:46

Lol Janto, but then again these pillows are much softer, don't snore and dont' have morning breath.

...and I'm also thinking about the delivery too much. Since reading some of the threads here (esp the ones on the lack of care in some hospitals)and watching the 'Desperate Midwives' series I'm totally freaked out and I'm imagining all sorts of horror scenarios. I guess a little information is bad information. This is my first time and I'm just not sure how I will cope. I'm just such a wimp, I can't even get my eyebrows waxed. There are times when I'm totally depressed ...

Anyway, I think it's a great idea to repost our due dates. Does anyone have a current list?

Also, how about a wee survey (because I'm soooo nosey)?
e.g.
How many of us are still working?
How much weight have you gained sofar (if that's not too explosive a subject)?
Have any of you got stretch marks yet?

...oh and the weather up here still sucks, it's still raining and it's cold. Mmpffff...

Azure · 02/06/2005 18:11

Damn, I posted a message and then deleted it by accident looking on my desk for a ruler to measure my waist.

Rochwen, my humble opinion on the birth is that there is no way of telling how it will go, so it's best not to worry too much about it. The labour may take 4 hours, it may take 2 days, but it will certainly happen, you will get through it and have a lovely baby at the end. It's best for you & your partner to be informed about the process, e.g. anaesthetic options or what happens if an emergency c-section is needed, but there is no point getting carried away with an idealised birthplan, because it may just not happen like that. Your midwife, doctor and body will guide you through. Of course, it's easy for me to say that as I will probably be have an elective c-section this time, but I have had a v-delivery before.

Survey answers:

28 weeks today, due August 25th
Working full-time until July 29th
Never weigh myself
No stretch marks so far, and I was lucky enough not to have them last time.

josey · 02/06/2005 20:17

oh please someone stop the rain its starting to flood here now

i had a lovely midwife appointment today it is my old midwife form DS and she was in school with DH, she looked after me after DS and i only saw her today as a stand in for normal stupid woman, she was telling me how brave i was having another one after the state i ended up in with DS and says thinking about it still brings tears to her eyes she was so positive and supportive with everything i discussed with her i felt like a new person coming out of the clinic. long live lovely midwifes

survey
27+5 27/8/05
Working full time till 15/7/05 though do have a few days off between then and now so only 3 weeks where i am in Monday to Friday (not that im counting)
have put on 1 stone 7lbs
and no strech marks - i almost escaped them last time it was near the end and on my bum of all odd places

Nome · 02/06/2005 20:22

30 weeks tomorrow (12/8)
SAHM
Have just got back to my booking in weight (before you all hate me, I was tubby to start with...)
And still striped like a zebra from last time.

Anyone else's tummy button popped yet?

It's dry, but grey here in Cambridge. Pleasantly warm.

jantogan · 02/06/2005 22:19

Survey answers:
29 weeks and due 20/8
No working.
I have put on 7 kg.
No strech marks
I have not been working since Christmas,my sickness problem was terrible and it finished 3 months ago.I am a beauty therapist and working impossible with big tommy, but staying at home is very boring.
I hope everything will be fine all of us...

Rochwen · 03/06/2005 10:43

Azure, that's precisely what freaks me out about birth, the unpredictability of it, the fact that so much seems to have to do with luck. It could all be a breeze (well...) or it could be hell. I want the breeze !!! Actually there is a chance I might get a planned c/s as well but I won't know until I see my consultant at week 37. I hate the uncertainty of not knowing until then.

Ok survey answers:
Due: 4th of August (that makes me mhm, 31 weeks?)
Work: Yes, until school term ends on 2nd of July (I wish I could finish earlier but it's really only 4 more weeks, yay !!!)
Weight gained: 7 kgs so far (is that about average? I'm a very small person (49 kgs when I started) and 7 kgs seems sooo much.)
Stretchmarks: Not so far
Belly button: Out (but not sticking up too much)

Rochwen · 03/06/2005 10:45

Oh and I forgot to add that I had NOT been raining for the past 4 hours, hurrah !!!

Miaou · 03/06/2005 11:12

Hmm, survey results:

32 weeks on Tuesday (due 31 July so technically I shouldn't be on here - just try and get rid of me now though )
Stretchmarks - I didn't think I could possibly add to the ones I got previously. How wrong I was
Weight - now 10st3lbs, was about 8st7lbs when I got pregnant, so how much is that? I think I've put on about the same as the last two times but started from a heavier weight (I was one stone lighter when I got pg with dd1!)
Working: was working from home as cross-stitch designer, officially now on maternity leave, but still doing a few bits and pieces otherwise I get bored!

Rochwen, have you looked round your maternity unit where you will give birth yet? See if you can speak to people who have given birth there previously, that may help put your mind at rest. And your dh/dp can be really helpful in making sure you get plenty of support/info during the birth. And remember, it's natural to be anxious - this is my third and I am anxious about it, particularly as it is a different hospital with different pain relief etc on offer. And ask your midwife everthing that pops into your head, however trivial it seems

kate100 · 03/06/2005 11:25

Hi all, feeling much better. I've been very tired for most of the week, but I feel as if I've woken up today. However, despite the rest my SPD is a lot worse and I got stuck in bed last night and had to hammer on the floor to get DH to come and help me. What a sight he must have seen, his pregnant wife flailing around in bed crying her eyes out, poor thing. Anyway, not long now I hope, down to weeks in single figures no matter what happens, the longest it could be is 9 and a half weeks and that's not so bad.

Survey
32 weeks tommorrow due 31/07/05 (started out as 02/08/05)
I've gained about 9lbs to my pre-pregnancy weight, but have lost a lot during the pregnancy so probably a lot more.
No new stretch marks, but still got lots from last time, I don't mind as long as they don't come above my belly button, which hasn't popped but is very shallow!!
I'm off work sick with SPD and have been for a while I was going to work until 1/7/05

Eulalia · 03/06/2005 13:52

Rochwen - DON'T worry you'll be fine. If everything is going well so far and you are healthy then you don't have anything to worry about. First labours are usually longer but don't have to take days.... with ds I was about 25 hours from beginning to end. However that was from waters breaking and it was very slow to start with, in fact I went home again from the hospital. The hard labour bit was about 5 hours.

As for your questions -

Well you know about the broken veins/capillaries? No stretch marks in any of my pregnancies.
Not working as I have ds (age 6 next month and dd who is 3)
Weight gain 20lbs.
Due 30th July (32 weeks tomorrow)

And hooray the sun is shining. I actually sat on the beach on my own this morning while dd was at her group. It was lovely and peaceful

Eulalia · 03/06/2005 13:54

Kate - glad you are feeling better, well in some ways anyway.

Azure · 03/06/2005 16:00

I would love to see a photo of everyone and their bumps, but wouldn't want to spoil the confidentiality. Since I hit the 3rd trimester yesterday I feel that the baby has decided to snuggle down in the most uncomfortable positions possible. I have also rediscovered the joys of a pillow between the legs in bed. Oh, and my belly button is shallow at the moment.

colinsmommy · 03/06/2005 16:01

Hi all. I'm in the middle of painting DS' new room and the kitchen right now. Its starting to look good, I think. I've just drank that nasty orange drink they give you for the diabetes test, and am waiting to go to the lab, since DH is home today to watch DS.

Rochwen--don't worry about the labor. I did way too much with DS. Its not fun by any stretch of the imagination, but you'll get through it.

Survey questions:

I don't work, am a SAHM to a 21 month old ds, and loving it.

I don't have any stretch marks, but I have a small patch of broken veins on my upper thigh, but it is so high up nobody's ever going to see it except for me and DH.

I've probably put on about 23 pounds or so already, and I'm behind all of you. (due the 31st) sigh. But I put on over 40 with DS, and like last time, it isnt because I eat so much, I just pile on the weight. But with DS I lost it all in about 6 weeks, and am hoping to be that lucky this time, although I think that might be wishful thinking.

josey · 03/06/2005 18:30

oooo belly buttons poping out i hate that feeling it makes my knees go week dont know why, mine isnt out yet there is plenty time though!!
does anyone have peirced belly buttons?

I like the sound of that azure eveyones bumps - maybe we could get photos from the shoulders to the knees only

colinsmommy · 03/06/2005 22:13

Not too keen on the bump idea. I have a feeling I would win for biggest bump. How about looking at my former bump resident instead?

josey · 03/06/2005 22:52

colinsmommy aw colin is so cute what a lovely little boy you have

Azure · 05/06/2005 09:32

Colin is gorgeous - thanks for sharing your photo.

Azure · 05/06/2005 09:33

Just noticed there are more phots there. Is that Colinsdaddy by any chance?
