Thought I'd start a new thread as No 3 is pretty long now! If anyone knows how to link between the 2 threads can you put one in - I'm not called Jellybrain by accident you know .

Had a job interview yesterday but, haven't heard anything back yet . I don't think my preparation was all that good and was pretty busy over the weekend with birthday party preparations and was consequently shattered.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
colinsmommy · 26/05/2005 16:05

Hi Jantogan. Welcome and congratulations. I can only tell you what they do here in America, but this is my 2nd pregnancy, and I've never gotten a scan after my 20 week one. Its pretty common practice here not to have one after then if everything looks good. It does seem like such a long time to wait until you see your baby, doesn't it?

Glad to see you're still around, Twiga.

Azure · 26/05/2005 16:16

Hello and welcome Jantogan. In the UK it is normal to have no more scans after 20 weeks. A later scan will normally only be if there is an area of concern, e.g. I need to have a scan at 36 weeks due to fluid on the kidney. It sounds like you have a healthy pregnancy.

josey · 26/05/2005 19:25

hi jantogan - as azure said you only tend to get further scans if there is a problem. I however only get one at 12 weeks due to the way the work where i live, so that might cheer you up a bit.

well im going to moan - i dont want to play the game anymore im so sore today that i hurt from my eyelashes to my toenails and i think its made even worse by the fact that today is the 2year anniversary of my Dads death i keep getting very emotional thinking that he wont get to see this grand baby.
well im going to have a bath and hope i can get back out again and hope that tomorrow brings a better day even though i will be a year older.

Hope everyone else is fine twiga glad your getting on well at work now and i think we have gone for the same mamas and papas bedding as you sunshine safari or something like that, i already have had mine delivered though from the Glasgow pram centre cause mamas and papas dont do that stuff in online ordering

Twiga · 26/05/2005 19:32

Josey, you have impecable taste ! Sorry to hear you're having a rough day of it {{{hugs}}}, lol x

Miaou · 26/05/2005 20:16

Hi folks, just dipping in as I'm on my way over to mum and dad's to do the pub quiz. I had my antenatal appt today (on fortnightly appts now) and I am measuring small (27 weeks when I am actually 30 weeks), but not too concerned as I am only small anyway, so is dh and so were the dds! Only other excitement was a bit of blood in my urine but it's probably nothing. Midwife showed dh and I around the labour room, as well as a birthing pool they have an oil burner and are trained in massage too - now I really hope I get to give birth there!

At my aquanatal group, one girl is due on Wednesday, then there is just one more girl due a fortnight before me...it's starting to feel closer now!

Got to run ... hello to all the newbies and commiserations to josey/Kate and all who are having a rough time atm.

KMS · 26/05/2005 22:38

Josey did you mean that it is your birthday tomorrow? (27th) It is mine too!!
Happy Birthday to both of us.
(and appologies if I was wrong)
I know how you feel Re your dad. Mine died 10 yrs ago, this year, when I was 21. He never met any of my children. I still can be doing something and Think "oh Dad would like that I must tell him" then remember that I can't. I think it does get easier with time but will always be a bit upset at times aspecially around the aniversary.
Big {{hug}} enjoy the bath. Be careful getting in and out as that leg movement is the one to avoid with SPD. I think that may be what you have as your symptoms are very similar to mine. Hope you get some help soon.

Azure · 27/05/2005 08:20

Happy Birthday Josey and KMS. Sorry to hear you're feeling down Josey - I hope today is better. Miaou, I love the idea of having a massage in the labour room.

A very minor moan from me about my DH. I have an important meeting today and wanted to look my best. Anyway, after I got dressed I asked DH how I looked and his reply was "well you're pregnant, you're never exactly going to look like Kate Moss". A "that looks nice" was all I was looking for as a little boost to self-confidence, especially as I didn't get in from work until gone midnight last night. Men!

Twiga · 27/05/2005 10:05

Happy Birthday Josey and KMS!!! Have a lovely day, hope you both get spoiled

Azure - men!

jantogan · 27/05/2005 10:11

Good morning, thanks a lot for all reply,I am feeling better now.Everything is OK in my pregnancy(I don't wanna talk about first four months) and i think I should stop compare Turkey and UK,because there is very common having scan almost every month!!!
Happy birthday Josey and KMS...

Twiga · 27/05/2005 10:18

Sorry, meant to say Welcome to Jantoqan - left my manners under my pillow this morning obviously ! Congratulations on your pg, glad everything is going well.

Anyone else experiencing the joys of reflux/heartburn? Also baby is sitting on a nerve somewhere I think as keep getting a dead right leg, but only my thigh - very odd feeling!

josey · 27/05/2005 10:43

KMS happy birthday yes it's mine today also - trying to think when your due date is how weird would that be if we both had our bubs on the same day
thanks for your support with the Dad thing i know it will get better with time, i get very down cause its foremost in my mind and everyone talks about my birthday and i cant be bothered with it until the 26th is over with, at least i have the comfort that DS met my dad and he still speaks to him its very weird but says he can see his Grandpa on the clouds.
I never made the bath last night fell asleep at half past eight and that was me till 7.30 bar one Pee stop and change into PJ's.

Thanks to everyone for the birthday wishes.

Azure - i hope your making DH grovel for a very very long time for that!! men!

colinsmommy · 27/05/2005 17:01

Happy birthday Josey and KMS. Hope you're feeling better today.

Off to the dr. this morning. Can't believe I'm starting the every 2 week appointments already.

whitie · 28/05/2005 09:59

Morning girls, anyone else suffereing with the heat? It was twenty eight degrees in Essex yesterday and it was unbearable, usually I love the heat and would have been sunbathing all day. As it was I needed to pop to B&Q and only just made it without passing out. We're organising out nursery this weekend, well making a start on it anyway, hence the trip to B&Q. I'm having an uphill struggle with dh who doesn't seem interested in getting ready for baby at all, he can't understand that I will relax when I'm organised and just want to get on with it.

Anyone else set their nursery up yet? Twiga - you're M&P stuff looks lovely and safari theme sounds great. Anyone else got good themes?

colinsmommy · 29/05/2005 21:10

Hi whitie. Miserable hot here too. It has been 99 and 97 degrees the past few days. There were terrible thunderstorms the other night, and we were up for hours, because they were so loud.

I haven't redone the nursery, since it is less than 2 years old, but it sounds like I have along the same lines as Twiga and Josey, and have a jungle animals theme with light greens and yellows and creams. How funny there are so many of us alike.

Azure · 30/05/2005 12:02

I'm dreading a hot summer here. I remember being pregnant at exactly the same time of year before and it was a nightmare - we used to drive around in our newly acquired car just for the air-conditioning. As for going to work on the tube - inhumane. Colinsmommy, I've forgotten whereabouts in the States you are - being that hot already sounds unbearable. It's not exactly a great bank holiday weekend for me, as I was in the office yesterday and am back in today. DS is at my sister's today and my parents come up later to look after him for half-term. I can't believe I still have two months to go at work, unfortunately.

Twiga · 30/05/2005 12:27

Wish I could say it was hot here, but it's Aberdeen and while the rest of the country has been baking - we've had highs of 10 degrees and rain - swap with someone! Nearly finished the first place in the house we're decorating - just need to do the gloss work today and get the carpet down, not being too picky as it's just a big cupboard, but it looks much better for having been freshened up and should give us space to put stuff while we do other rooms. Flying down to England to see my best pal and my parents at the end of the week, really excited - none of them have seen my bump yet. Everything here fine, just cracking on with getting organised and looking fwd to finishing at work in the next couple of weeks - what with A/L only have four more shifts to do !

jantogan · 30/05/2005 14:37

hello,I am babysitter today,Olivia,18 months, pretty and very handy baby,I hope our son will be like her.Good practise for us )

Miaou · 30/05/2005 15:15

Hello, cold and miserable here too, Twiga! I am just taking a rest from a big spring clean ready for dd1's eighth birthday party tomorrow. Can't believe she is so grown up!!! This house is not big and we are having 8 overexcited 6-12 year olds jumping round the house - plus having birthday tea on the floor as there is not enough room for them to sit at the table! Argh - I must be mad!

Speaking of lack of room - we don't have enough bedrooms for this little one to have its own, it will have a cot in the corner of our room until big enough to go into a bed, when it will then share with dd2 who has the biggest room. She is really looking forward to it - sure she'll change her mind when she finds herself sharing with a toddler!!! So no nice borders and curtains here - or nice bedding in fact, just plain white and functional! Ah well.

josey · 30/05/2005 18:48

I cant believe how much rain we have had its got so heavey it has forgotten how to stop, im having flood warning and most of you are on hosepipe bans unreal!
Well i had a good weekend apart from having a funny turn trying to walk DS home from school glad my mum was with me as i got very sore dizzy and mum sat me on a wall just in time for me to be sick at her feet
I went out for a meal with a friend on saturday and we saw monster in law, it was really good and if you have the mil from hell like i do you will love it.
Managed to get another midwife to see me this week and she was going to speak to the clinic physio today so hopefully they will work something out before silly woman comes back.in saying that back isnt too bad the last couple of day probably due to rest.
hope everyone is well

colinsmommy · 31/05/2005 16:35

I'd welcome cold and rainy.

Azure, I'm in Southern Oregon, not too far from the California border. The good thing (if you want to call it that) is that pretty much all the houses and cars and businesses are air conditioned, and the really bad weather only usually lasts for about 3 months. The humidity isn't as high as in England, either. But for the rest of the year, we have weather fairly comperable to that of Southern England.

Anyone else with a 2-ish year old experiencing the joys of 2 year molars yet? Have been up at least 3 times a night with a crying boy who is chomping away and almost gagging himself with his fingers. I was up from 12:30-5:30 with him, just as I would fall asleep, he would wake up crying again.

Josey-hope they can work something out with your back.

Azure · 01/06/2005 09:08

Colinsmommy, thank goodness for air conditioning. I hope you get less rain than southern England the rest of the year! My sister lived near Boulder, Colorado, for 3 years and it was boiling hot in summer and freezing cold in winter. I don't remember DS teething molars, so he must have been lucky - I hope your poor DS (and you) had a better night's sleep last night. All you in Scotland will be delighted to hear that it's overcast and likely to rain here in London today!

kate100 · 01/06/2005 09:49

Sorry to moan again, but I had a miserable bank holiday. I had sickness all day on Friday and couldn't even keep water down. So staggered to the GP who sent me to hospital as I was having pains in my bump. I waited for 2 hours to see someone and then they told me all sorts of scary things like I might have a placental abruption and my cervix had started to open. They were worried that I was going to go into labour so I had to have steroid injections to mature the baby's lungs, just in case and I had to stay in for monitoring and antibiotics. Very frightening and I was throughly miserable as well, as I felt so poorly. Fortuanately, the pains went away over night and I felt much better by the next evening. When I was more with it they explained that I probably had a UTI and that could have caused the pain and potentially labour, but they'd treated it and it should all be OK. I managed to convince them to let me go on Saturday evening if I promised to rest as I was missing DH and DS so much. DS was so upset when he came to visit me, it was horrible. I could see the strain in his little face, he was so pale with big dark circles under his eyes. I'm now really worried about how he'll cope when the baby is born.

DH and I had a real scare and are now paranoid that our baby will be born early. In hospital on Friday, the idea of being overdue was suddenly quite appealing. It did get us moving on baby preparations and we got all the baby things out of the loft and have ordered a pram and car seat..... just in case.

Things just don't feel as secure as they did before, physically or emotionally. I never had anything wrong with me when I had DS, the only time I was in hospital was when he was born. Now I feel as if I'm waiting for the next thing to go wrong. Sorry it's such a long post, but I feel really down and I'm worried all the time now.

At least there was some light relief over the weekend. My brother took me to the hospital, as DH couldn't get a locum and he's unmarried and has no kids. When a woman came in who was in labour and sat next to him I thought he was going to jump out the window to escape, he kept looking at her as if she was going to explode

Azure · 01/06/2005 13:25

What an awful experience Kate100 - so sorry to hear about your scare. Thank goodness they were able to treat you. Fingers and toes crossed that you have a smooth 3rd trimester from now on. It's awful worrying about what might go wrong - I spent my pregnancy with DS in blissful ignorance, which is by far the best situation.

Nome · 01/06/2005 13:51

Scary stuff Kate- I hope it is boring and uneventful till August now.

I saw the physio today and I have an adductor strain. Treat as SPD (but it's not) plus massage and ultrasound therapy. Glad I finally have a name for it at least!

Turns out that ds (2) is above the H&S legal maximum weight for women to lift at work...they don't have these regulations for mothers do they. He counts as a two person lift.

Eulalia · 01/06/2005 14:03

Hi, not been on in ages - I just seem to be so busy with the kids. Feel huge already and can't believe its still another 2 months to go although 9 weeks sounds shorter somehow.

Kate - how awful for you - hope you are feeling better. Is there still a chance the baby could come early even though you get over your infection OK?

I have got horrible broken veins on my thigh. I had it a little bit before but its got much worse the past few weeks. Seems unfair to have had 2 pregnancies already completely unmarked (no stretch marks etc). I don't think they are varicose veins as they aren't bulging out but can't see how they are going to just disappear. Looks like my mini-skirt wearing days are gone, well they probably were anyway.

Anyway that sounds rather trivial. Everything else is fine. Hope to keep up with this thread more frequently now that our due dates are looming ever closer.
