Thought I'd start a new thread as No 3 is pretty long now! If anyone knows how to link between the 2 threads can you put one in - I'm not called Jellybrain by accident you know .

Had a job interview yesterday but, haven't heard anything back yet . I don't think my preparation was all that good and was pretty busy over the weekend with birthday party preparations and was consequently shattered.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
KMS · 13/07/2005 00:31

Congrats to jellybrain! Cerys is a lovely name.

Just wanted to let you all know that my nephew was born at 6.55 this morning @34wks gest!
SIL had a scan yesterday that told her that the placenta had moved far enough for her to deliver naturally! then at 3am she started getting some pains. They didn't phone her BIL till 4.30 then their DS was born naturally at 6.55am weighing 4lbs 5 oz.(smaller than predicted at scan last week!)
Bl*y placenta wouldn't detach so she had to have spinal block to have it manually removed in theatre!
All are doing well although he will be in for a while. Won't get to see him for a bit as only parents and grandparents are allowed into SCBU

KMS · 13/07/2005 00:32

oops not her BIL! her DH! my BIL!!

Azure · 13/07/2005 08:52

KMS, glad to hear your sister and her DS are doing well in the circumstances. It's good she managed to hang on the last week or two - I'm sure every day helped.

Miaou - glad everything's ok for you. I'm amazed at what the hospital provides - it certainly won't be like that here.

Also worried about Rochwen. Does this mean that she was admitted on Friday?

Twiga · 13/07/2005 10:23

KMS, congratulations on your new nephew, glad things went ok. Have they got a name for him yet? Hope it's not too long before you get a chance to see him.

Miaou, glad things are all set for you to use your local hospital - they sound really good on the provision front, less to have to rememeber.

I hope we hear something from Rochwen soon - she can't recieve CATs so no way of checking she's ok.

Bit of a long night, pain in my pelvis/hips making it really difficult to sleep. Hope the physio ref comes through soon getting quite concerned by the clicking noises every time I try and turn over.

kate100 · 13/07/2005 10:29

Congratulations Jellybrain, what a lovely name and congratulations Auntie KMS There are certainly lots of babies on this thread aren't there.
Twiga, the nights feel very long or me too. I'm OK when I get to sleep but getting into a comfy position to drop off is hard. My clicking is even worse now, my pelvis clicks when the baby moves now, not just when I do. I can't wait for this baby to be born, then I can swap it for my cruthches!!

josey · 13/07/2005 20:03

congrats KMS on becoming an Aunty glad everything is ok, what a shame your SIL had to go throught that after a pretty straight forward labour.

I wonder what has happended to Rochwen hope that she is ok and we hear from her soon, we also havent heard anything from Beachyhead hope she is alright, if i remember rightly she has perviously suffered pre-eclampcia so hope there has been no probs.

glad its been alot cooler today, havent suffered so much.

Twiga not sure about how they do your parent craft classes but mind started last week and we have an hour with the midwife and an hour with the physio after and if you have any problems she helps out, when i had my bad back i phoned the midwives on the monday and they had the physio ready to see me on the Friday, it appears to be one area where they seem to be organised.

Maiou glad everything looks ok for you to deliver at he bellfield, and aren't you lucky with all they stuff they supply, you could almost walk straight out the house without anything and be fine.

KMS · 13/07/2005 23:14

BUGGER!
Will start at the begining. Felt really light headded and a bit faint on mon am so rested and drank loads as thought it might be dehydration. was fine pm. Had antinatal app. with G.P yesterday and all fine and dandy. Told her about how I felt on mon and she said hb was 11.5 so boarderline needing iron could be cause so will retest at 39wks?
Felt odd again this am and baby a bit quiet so tried to phone mw in her clinic to see if needed checking and a stand in mw said I had to talk to delivery suit to be checked. so I have spent the afternoon in deliv suite being monitered.had to get a friend's DH to have DD and her to take me to hosp, another friend to get DS's from school and hang on to them as my MIL is babysitting SIL's DD!!
Baby fine, me fine but need to rest, BUT baby is BREECH!!!!
there is no way this baby has turned round since yesterday so must have been breech for a while and all have been mistaking bum for head!
It was quite funny in a way as thee MW in the hosp said I think this baby is breech, and when she went out my friend & I looked at each other and said she just can't tell the difference, she must be wrong, everyone else has said head down! SHO comes in, yes I think it is breech, will get registrar and a scan done. Registrar says no I think that is a head down there, but we will scan just to be sure (he has a smug look on his face and gets SHO to feel said "head" again!) SHO then starts to scan where HE said head is and they find liver and intestines. "Oh I am wrong" he says "lets have a look at where you think the head is then!"

Anyway I now have to see obsetrition next wed and have a ECV (external Cephalic Version-manual turning) booked for next thursday.

I am really pi**ed off as I was all set to go overdue as I have with the rest and have a normal delivery. Now they have said Csection is best option if ECV fails. I am sure I could deliver a breech baby fine but the problem is that there isn't much experience of breech birth at the hospital! Also need to see if SPD will be a problem with breech delivery too.

Sorry to have gone on a bit, but had to get it off my chest!

Hope Rochwen is ok. And where is Beachyhead?? hope all is well.

Kate100 also can't wait to throw out crutches!!

KMS · 13/07/2005 23:14

Oh and SIL has called him Nathan. He is doing well.

Nome · 14/07/2005 00:18

What a downer KMS - ds ws a footling breech, so I had a secion last time. ECV didn't work for me, but your chances are higher with a subsequent baby because you're all stretched out.

Any news from Rochwen yet?

Eulalia · 14/07/2005 09:03

kate - yes I know what you mean about the comments... especially as with dd I reached 42+1 so I just reply - well I could be another 5 weeks yet which is a long time. Also sympathise on the organising - everything I get out my two fiddle with and I can't find anywhere to put anything.

KMS - what a shame. Can you not push (pardon the pun) for natural? Seems sad that there isn't the expertise these days. My mum delivered me and my sister (twins) naturally - my sister was breach.

Oh and congrats on your SIL and hope all is well with baby Nathan.

Must get on - keep spending too much time on Mumsnet ... house is a tip and bag not packed etc... names not decided on....!

Azure · 14/07/2005 10:09

KMS - what a pain about the baby being breech. I hope the ECV works. I'm amazed that a breech delivery is so rare these days.

I'm melting in this heat (it was no cooler here yesterday Josey) - the journey to and from work is almost unbearable and by the end of the day I feel a sweaty, smelly mess. Add to that my elephantine proportions and night-time dribbling and I'm really not very desirable at the moment.

josey · 14/07/2005 12:20

oh KMS what a shame, I think they worry with breech to much these days incase they are sued, I wounder would the SPD work in your favour as you wont really need the pressure of the head the same?? or am i being a bit thick??
the name your SIL has chosen is what my DS is determinded we will call a boy, after his fav person from HI-5

We have a lovely cool day here and have had Rain!!!!!! im glad for a day off (sorry Azure)

I wasnt very well during the night i think something i ate yesterday didnt like me very much spent half the night in the bathroom was convinced i was going to end up in labour as thats what happened to me before.

anyway better get on - rochwen and beachyhead please please try let us know how you are.

Twiga · 14/07/2005 13:02

Hi all,

Have put out the following thread to see if anyone has any news/is in contact with Beachyhead or Rochwen Beachyhead/Rochwen

KMS sorry to hear that db is breech, hope the ECV can get him/her turned and you can have the delivery you want.

Off to get cleaning the kitchen, hope all having a good day x

kate100 · 14/07/2005 13:08

KMS, how awful. I feel exactly the same, if my baby was breech I'd at least want to give it a try. I think there's a thread about how to turn breech babies which may be worth a look, I don't know of anythign works, but it could be worth a try.

I feel rotten today, really sick and light headed, so after i dropped DS off at nursery I went to mum's for some sympathy and as I walked through the door nursery phoned to say he was poorly. I've had to take him to mum's so she can look after him as I don't feel up to it and now he feels fine and is running around right as rain, typical!! I've also had pains today and my mum got all excited and said maybe it's the baby coming. I could have killed her, I daren't get my hopes up at every twinge or I'll have gone mad by the time they take me in to induce me I've also cried a lot today, the littlest thing will set me off, I'm off to the midwife now, I hope she's prepared for hysteria.

Azure · 14/07/2005 14:20

Twiga, what a good idea to start the thread about Beachyhead and Rochwen. I hope someone knows some news.

Kate100, sorry you're having a grotty day. I can also get tearful at the smallest thing at the moment (e.g. trying to get DS dressed when he's mucking around), so know how you're feeling. I hope all goes well at the midwife's this afternoon.

fatbirdtoo · 14/07/2005 15:09

So o o o hot!
KMS- agree that you should talk to them re breech delivery. I was amazed to find out that they do caesars for breech now. I had DS naturally, breech delivery when I lived in Sheffield. My DB was in the breech position a couple of weeks ago and was told I would have a C-section. I got really frightened as don't want that. Wasn't offered manual turning then either. Anyway the good news is, I heard that being down on all fours really helps to give the baby space to turn. Be careful though it can make u a bit light headed! I tried it for about 20mins x2/3 a day and at next appt my DB is now head down
good luck, hope u find it helps, looks a bit odd, but hey, don't we look it anyway!
I've been packing the house up like crazy, as DP told me this morning he has got a chance to take tomorrow afternoon off work so he has hired a van and a BIL! Can't believe its finally happening after all this time but am exhausted with it all, its too hot and awkward, keep 'catching' my bump on things as I squeeze past stuff! Also rest of family not available to help so doin it on my own! Can I book in the hosp. for a week???

wilbur · 14/07/2005 15:28

Hadn't seen the birth announcements on here - so exciting! Looking forward to a few more. 37+4 here so the clock is ticking. Won't mind being overdue tho as house is still crawling with builders and as I'm planning a home birth it could be quite interesting finding somewhere for the pool! Waking up way too early and then can't get back to sleep - managed a nap this morning so felt better after that but still got loads on the to do list so must get on. Hope everyone else is finding ways to beat the heat.

KMS · 14/07/2005 15:48

Thanks guys.
Have just had great conversation with my comunity m/w. She said registrar is talking bo**ks and they are all trained in breech delivery and that with my past history there shouldn't be a problem. So feel a bit better today. I feel confident that I could do it so just need there agreement when I go on wed that if the ECV fails I can go ahead with normal delivery.
Could do without this heat!! DS1&2 have sports day tomorrow. so will be fun in this heat as no shade there at all.

Kate100 and josey, hope you are feeling better. sickness can be a sign of things but in this heat it could just be nothing.

Are we going to need a new thread soon? this is getting a bit long.

colinsmommy · 14/07/2005 16:11

Glad to hear the positive news KMS.

Sorry to all those who don't feel well.

Just out of curiosity, how hot is hot exactly? It is supposed to be around 100 degrees here (or 38 for all you over there) for the next few days, and then we get a "break" as it gets to the low 90's. Do I win????? It isn't as bad as when I was pregnant with DS, and there were 21 days in July that were over 100, though.

Azure · 14/07/2005 16:23

OK you win, Colinsmommy! It's around 30C here in London at the moment - I think I would completely flake out at 38C. You have my sympathies. I assume more places are air-conditioned there, though. Most public transport here isn't and houses certainly aren't. I'm so thankful I have a fan positioned at the bottom of my bed for night-time.

KMS, glad about the more promising news.

Twiga · 14/07/2005 18:01

Colinsmommy, you definately win !

KMS, great to hear there's been some positive chat re: delivering breech.

Kate, hope you and your ds are feeling brighter soon.

Finally raining her, so hopefully tonight wil be less stuffy, been waking up really sweaty and horrible during the night - been getting through mugs of water too which then doesn't help the waking up for the toilet - would i be right in thinking there's no winning a full nights sleep at this stage of pg.

Also, there's a note on the other thread from a MNttr who met with Beachy a couple of weeks ago, apparently she's def on mat leave and doesn't have computer acess at home - indications are she's fine.

kate100 · 14/07/2005 19:08

It's about 30C here in the midlands, but not as hot as 2003 when I had DS. It's that there's no movement in the air that makes it so bad. I've got the strategically placed fan at the end of the bed too.

I cried all over the midwife as she said that the consultant wouldn't see me even though I had asked to and as I felt so poorly. I really don't want to go overdue and push a big baby out of a dodgy pelvis, I can now feel the joints at the back dropping out when I move, not very pleasant at all. Anyway, she phoned and got me an appointment with another consultant, on the 28th. So the ideal scenario for me now is that I either have the baby before then or I go to my appointment and they take me in for an induction the next day, I'm hoping for the former . Still feel pretty grotty, but the midwife thinks it's just the heat not an infection or anything.

KMS really pleased about your news, does anyone else feel that no-one talks to anyone else in maternity services? Everyone has different opinions and ideas, there's just no coherence.

Eulalia · 15/07/2005 11:49

KMS - that sounds a bit better news.

kate - I hope that other consultant is more helpful

Good news Twiga on beachyhead - just need to find Rochwen now.

Colinsmommy - yes that is hot! It's low 20s here - just about right although have found it hot at night.

wilbur - we are renovating too but its the whole house and no way could I have a home birth. I think its a great thing to do. Hoping to try the pool at the hospital though.

josey - have you had your holiday? Are we still meeting next week - Twiga?? Can we make it Thur/Fri if poss?

Still feeling really good just now - are you the same Miaou? Loads of energy although legs were getting a bit tired last night as I was on my feet all day. Finally got the cot up and all the clothes out - bag of white clothes, bag of blue and bag of pink so are prepared for anything! Will take white in with me and dh can bring the appropriate colour to the hospital later but hoping not to stay in that long.

Enid · 15/07/2005 11:51

hallo eulalia and congrats on your pg

Miaou · 15/07/2005 12:25

Hi everyone!

Generally speaking I am still in very rude health - went to Kingussie Wildlife Park for the day on Wednesday and walked miles with no ill effects at all! However today I have a sore throat and swollen glands so I am taking it easy atm.

Like everyone else, I am now finding I am not sleeping as well as I was, although unbelievably I still hardly need to go to the loo during the night!

I finally finished packing my hospital bag yesterday (after an incredibly strong and long BH contraction ) - so all ready for the off. I keep telling myself it could still be another month though otherwise I could get rather fed up!
