Thought I'd start a new thread as No 3 is pretty long now! If anyone knows how to link between the 2 threads can you put one in - I'm not called Jellybrain by accident you know .

Had a job interview yesterday but, haven't heard anything back yet . I don't think my preparation was all that good and was pretty busy over the weekend with birthday party preparations and was consequently shattered.

OP posts:

Eulalia · 06/07/2005 18:01

Oh Rochwen - I hope everything is OK. At least you don't have to wait long for a scan. Maybe it it the positon of hte baby that is causing the measurements to be so small. good luck on Friday anyway.

Yes need to get in touch with the Aberdeen lot but can wait till Friday to see if everything is still OK with you.

I also had the midwife today and am measuring small but only a little - 34cms at 36.5 weeks so not talking about scans yet - waiting till the 38 week appointment.

Any news KMS?

Twiga · 06/07/2005 19:30

Oh Rochwen I hope everything is ok, glad they've got a scan sorted for you so quickly. Agree with Eulalia, let's wait until Friday and see how things are with you before making final arrngements - of course we can come and see you in the mati (if you want us too) - just let us know!

colinsmommy · 06/07/2005 22:35

I hope everything is okay Rochwen. Will be thinking about you.

Miaou · 07/07/2005 07:31

Rochwen, fingers crossed for Friday - hope the scan shows that everything is ok.

Azure · 07/07/2005 08:54

I hope everything is ok Rochwen.

I'm a little concerned that I haven't been measured once in this pregnancy. The only time I've seen a midwife is at 13 and 21 weeks (the latter appointment was very brief), with a GP visit at 26 and 30 weeks. Next appointment is GP at 34 weeks (end of next week). I know it's not a hugely reliable measurement, but has anyone else not been measured? As I don't weigh myself I actually have no idea how the pregnancy is progressing (apart from feeling large and lots of movement).

Miaou · 07/07/2005 09:09

Measuring seems to be a bit of an inexact science Azure, and consequently not all doctors/midwives do it IME. I was only measured after I was 28 weeks, and it turned out that although my bump was measuring small the baby was fine, just a bit squished up! You could perhaps ask them to measure you for a bit of reassurance next time you go, but don't read too much into it

josey · 07/07/2005 09:25

Rochwen thinking of you hope that everything will be ok tomorrow.fingers crossed. we will wait till we hear from you before making final arrangements.

Nome · 07/07/2005 09:44

Good Luck tomorrow Rochwen - small isn't brilliant, but breech will get you your c-section!

fatbirdtoo · 07/07/2005 11:53

Hi all, sorry i've not posted but have been reading yr posts in the middle of the night! I laughed when I read colinsmummy's post - I too have more energy in the night but have no idea what i'm doin!! I've been gettin about 4 hrs sleep on average for about a month now and feel away with the fairies most of the time!
I did my last day at work yesterday [hurrah!]and so now have to get organised for arrival of little one. We still haven't moved [sore point and v. long story!] so am pretty down about all that as am living in chaos and the nesting instinct is v. strong! .
Am off to c my midwife this afternoon and will ask about DB's position as am sooo uncomfortable! {Am due 4 wks tomorrow- 05/08/05} Getting v. nervous about the birth now- prob because I don't feel prepared. DS is 13 and have forgotten it all.
Enjoy your meet up in scotland, anyone in Kent want to do the same???
Any luck with the update list anyone? x

kate100 · 07/07/2005 11:57

Azure and beachyhead and anyone else in london, are you OK?

Azure · 07/07/2005 14:46

Thanks for asking Kate100 - I'm fine. I got into the office before the problems began, but DH didn't get in until around 11am (after a 1.5 hour walk from the station he was thrown out of and much panicing by me when I didn't hear from him). We work about 10 mins from Russell Square and were not allowed to leave the office for a while, with the road closed. I'm now waiting for the taxi I booked for 2pm to arrive. My nanny can't get in to pick up DS from school and I've now got less than an hour to get there. I have made emergency arrangements for the nanny of one of DS's classmates to pick him up if I can't get there. At least we're safe - but I just want to get home.

KMS · 07/07/2005 20:10

Glad you are ok Azure.
Beachyhead???

My DH had to travel into the south bank to work today. He left here, at usual time, at 11.30 (against my wishes!) and was only 30 mins late. He usually drives down the road the bus was blown up on! Just have to hope he gets home in good time when he leaves work at 10pm.

Good luck with the scan tomorrow Rochwen. Will be thinking of you.

Thanks for all your best wishes for my SIL. She is still holding in there. Waters went with spectacular force! Bed is ruined! has had steroid injects for baby's lungs and is on Anti B's to stop any infection. They want to try to get her to 37wks but are not very hopeful. Scan on tues showed he was already 4lbs 13oz and her placenta has moved up a little, but not far enough yet to have normal delivery, so if she has contractions in next week they will Csection her imediately. She will be 34wks tomorrow so every day is a plus.

colinsmommy · 08/07/2005 00:36

Beachyhead????

Thinking of you all today, glad most of you aren't in London. Really happy that I live in the middle of nowhere today.

Hoping all goes well for you today, Rochwen.

Good news that your SIL's hanging in there still, KMS. Glad that the baby is measuring that big. Not much smaller than the full-term baby my friend had.

Azure · 08/07/2005 09:09

KMS best wishes for your SIL. It must be awful for her.

Beachyhead - hope everything's ok for you and your loved ones. I know you finished work last week and so hopefully weren't in central London yesterday.

I eventually got a taxi at around 3.45pm only after saying I was 8 months pregnant (well, I almost am) and so got home safely and could collect DS from his friend's house. DH left before the taxi arrived and got home an hour later. The office is closed for today, thankfully, although I should be "working from home" (well, I've checked my emails).

Twiga · 08/07/2005 11:23

Azure, great to see you got through yesterday unscathed - couldn't believe what we were seeing on the news yesterday.

Beachyhead please check in when you're able, lol x

KMS, glad things are holding out for your SIL and hope she is able to hang on in there as long as poss.

Rochwen, thinking of you today hope the news is positive, lol x

josey · 08/07/2005 11:29

azure glad you and your family are all fine, beachyhead hope everything is ok with you hope to hear from you soon.
KMS glad everything is still going in your sil's favour and little one seems to be a good size, and the steroids will help fingers crossed.
i tried for ages ysterday with the stats, got it all done and saved as a web document but shock horror for some reason it wont let me open so i have taken the huff and given up, think we will just have to do a boring one!!

jantogan · 08/07/2005 12:10

Yesterday was terrible, unfortunately nowhere is safe on the earth.I am thinking about victims family and children,so sad.
Rochwen,I hope all goes well for you today.

Azure · 08/07/2005 14:08

Josey, what a pain about the file not opening - many thanks for all your efforts anyway.

I've just come back from a trip to Mothercare and got just about everything we need - I feel a little happier now. The main thing we still need is a monitor. Does anyone have any recommendations? We went cheap last time and it was really useless - not that we found we needed one as we could hear DS from any room in the flat we then lived in. Oh, and I need a pram.

Azure · 08/07/2005 14:09

Sorry, forgot to say thanks to everyone for the best wishes about yesterday.

Eulalia · 08/07/2005 15:15

Azure - glad you are OK.

Beachyhead - we are all worried about you.

Rochwen - how did it go today?

josey - what a shame, but thanks for your efforts.

KMS - glad to hear that your SIL is hanging in there.

Is everyone having brilliant weather just now. We've just come back from the beach. Not v comfortable for me but making the most of the sun.

leahbump · 08/07/2005 16:23

Monitor- we tried tomy but got loads of neighbours kids and interference...changed to the philips digital and that's great...even goes to 250 metres!! Only down side is that the prent unit only comes on when there is noise- personally i prefer that don't wnat to hear every snuffle ....HTH

jellybrain · 08/07/2005 17:33

Hi All
Glad to hear everyone of the London August gang is ok after yesterday it was pretty scary just seeing it on the news so I'm quite glad I no longer live or work there.
KMS - hope your SIL is still doing OK will be thinking of her during the next few weeks.
Everyone else with worries etc. Sorry by the time I get to this bit I can never remember who has said what but any way hope it all sorts itself out and you're all getting plenty of R&R.
I saw the MW today the baby is now the right way up (was transverse until last week) so no need to worry about having it turned now. Its pretty big apparently and likely to be a good 9.5lbs. Now I know why I look like a Blue Whale.
I have been prescribed a double dose of Iron tablets as my iron levels have dropped quite significantly so I am looking forward to the joys of constipation Whoopee!
Take care everyone. Will check in again soon.

Glas to hear you were OK Azure. My best friend was at St Thomas' and managed to get home in a taxi. My dad was on the A40 and turned round and came home. My mum was panicking as he drives through Tavistock Square on his way to work, but he'd had a flat tyre and was running late. Horrible day, I can't believe there are people in the world who would do things like that. Also I have a spare reassurance 8 monitor with an under mattress sensor if you want want it. It monitors the baby's breathing so you don't have to have sound on if you like the quiet. DH and I found the flash of DS's breathing very reassuring. We only want about £30 for it. CAT me if you are interested.

Rochwen, hope everything went OK today.

Twiga · 08/07/2005 21:33

Have tried to CAT Rochwen but she's not able to recieve them - hope she checks in soon.

MW appt went fine today - measurements bang on today so not so worried about baby being scarey size. Only slight worry is that baby is back to back with me which MW reckons could lead to longer labour if doesn't turn - still got just over 7 weeks to get that sorted! Also MW is going to refer me across to a Physio re: spd, not been sleeping at all well due to being so sore and also getting cramp in my hips . Oh well, better go and finish 2nd coat of white paint in bedroom, lol x

colinsmommy · 08/07/2005 21:35

Thinking of you Rochwen.

I'm feeling quite frivolous today. Tomorrow my 2 best friends are taking me out for a girls day out without the kids, and DH is going to take DS and do the big grocery shop for the week. I got my invitation today for my shower at the end of the month, so I'm getting excited about that, too.

Thanks for all your hard work Josey. Too bad the file wouldn't open. I'm terrible at stuff like that.
