beepbeep and mobar - Pain has eased off today, found that a nice fluffy bubble bath helped SO much. Think it might be partially constipation (sorry if TMI!!!) and partially the baby laying awkwardly, as when I spoke to my Mum earlier and said I had a pain in my leg as well - right down from my buttock to my knee - she said that theres a certain nerve the baby could be pushing against. Have a warm bath and try and persuade someone to give you a back rub.

DP has finished sulking - he hadn't felt the baby move since that one time ages ago, and today it beat his hand up. He's walking around grinning like the Cheshire cat!!!

mobar · 19/07/2009 22:23

oh i like it, DP felt baby other day was very pleased, then last night baby stopped every time he came near. Not impressed, however the fact that i kept getting beaten from the inside out i made him keep sitting next to me. Glad you feeling better.

BeckyBendyLegs · 19/07/2009 22:25

Raggie I want to know where you are moving to as well as I used to live in Charlbury just outside Oxford! I miss Oxford (as others have heard me go on about here in the past). I loved living down there Congrsts on the scan!

Laugs have a lovely holiday!

I am back from a lovely weekend in Cardiff at DH's cousin's wedding. It was the first time the DSs had stayed in a hotel and they loved it. We managed to get a huge family room for £130 which was a bargain I think. They managed to stay awake until 10.30pm at the wedding party and had a great time. We then put them to bed and they went straight to sleep!

My Isabella Oliver dress from ebay looked fine although I asked DS1 if I looked like a big pink elephant and he said 'hmm, yes, you do a bit'.

I wasn't the only pregnant one there, which was nice. So I wasn't the only bump bumping and grinding on the dance floor! I did miss drinking wine but treated myself to one glass of pims and lemonade and a small glass of champagne and that wsa lovely.

I hope Ninja you are feeling a bit better. Think lots of positive thoughts and your body will get rid of the virus. Scarlotti sorry you are feeling unwell too.

I'm catching up on the weekend's big brother at the moment while DH is doing the ironing. He doesn't do it very often but when he does I am happy He keeps asking me 'whose pants are these?' Hes' funny.

Fruitpastels · 19/07/2009 22:52

Beep Beep Midwife will give the MATB1 at 26 weeks and no sooner, so I imagine an employer wouldn't have an issue waiting a couple of extra weeks. I need to apply for my Maternity Allowance as I'm finishing work earlier than expected so had to find out when I could get hold of the certificate.

Sorry to hear a couple of you are feeling under the weather. Three of my friends have been diagnosed with swine flu over the weekend. They have it mild luckily.

Hope you've all had a lovely weekend.

claired21 · 19/07/2009 23:11

Evening all

Hope the invalids are feeling better! As for pains in tummy, I get a really odd feeling as if baby is using my cervix as a trampoline. Apologies if that's too much info!

I got my MATB1 at 20wks, not sure if it's different in Scotland but that's the earliest they'll give you it here.

Just ate a full bag of haribo tangfastics. Curses to whoever mentioned them on here weeks ago, I've been fighting the addiction ever since!!

I'm now 21wks and been feeling movement since about 15.5 but a lot more now. DP saw a kick tonight as well, very strange but nice to be reminded there's a little person in there and not just a fat belly

lemontop · 19/07/2009 23:22

The earliest I could get MATB1 was 22 weeks. Sent it all off this week.

Hope everyone gets well soon.

BeckyBendyLegs · 20/07/2009 08:10

I need to apply for Mat Allowance too and I was told 26 weeks for the form.

I am up and ready to face the day and the DSs are fast asleep. Surely children should be up at the crack of dawn! This is not normal!

turtle23 · 20/07/2009 08:26

Hello all...I am suffering very badly from insomnia. Have gone from an average of five hours to three and last night was a whopping one. I think I am dying. Apologies for not catching up properly but I can barely see.

southernbelle77 · 20/07/2009 08:55

Not been on for ages so have only just read the last page trying to catch up!

DD really not well at the moment with flu like symptoms and have to take her to the doctors later. Bit worrying

Was reading about maternity allowance and matb1 forms etc with interest. Need to apply for maternity allowance but not sure when to do it. Will ask midwife when next see her (which is 28 weeks) so hope that isn't too late.

katster37 · 20/07/2009 09:20

Hi everyone, just catching up on the weekend's activities!

Ninja I really hope you are feeling much better. As others have said on here, you can have Relenza which doesn't cross the placenta as you inhale it - if you feel worse, make sure you have that. But I"m sure you are right and your body knows how to heal itself as long as you take care and have lots of fluids.
BBL glad you enjoyed the wedding and I'm sure you didn't look like a big pink elephant!! The one we went to was fun, but we arrived at 7pm and all the 'day' people were absolutely hammered when we arrived!! Felt like I spent the entire evening having my bump mauled and prodded by total strangers!! DH found it all hilariously funny, of course, and the proceeded to get extremely drunk and hiccup all night. Great! We had a nice day yesterday in Bath though, and I loved the B&B we stayed at. Bath is soooo gorgeous - I am not sure who lives there on the thread, but you are soooo lucky, I want to move there!!
Southernbelle how old is your DD? There are lots of other viruses going round, so fingers crossed it's one of those. Or a v mild form of swine flu, and then she'll be immune. Thinking of you.
Turtle oh, poor you. Insomnia is hideous. Are you able to nap in the daytime?
We are going on holiday tomorrow, I am so glad. Spending the day ironing and packing, then midwife app at 2pm.

helips · 20/07/2009 09:37

Morning all,

Haven't been on much as haven't felt well. Just spoke to my Gp and they say I am showing symptoms of swine flu just waiting for them to call me back. I just feel like I've got a rotten cold but don't have a temperature so am hoping I won't have to take any drugs. Dh has taken the day off to look after ds.

Hope everyone else is well and had a good weekend. I'll try and catch up a bit more later...

tink08 · 20/07/2009 10:34

ErikaMaye · 20/07/2009 10:39

Hey tink waves Welcome!

DP had a terrible night, so stayed up while he was asleep. He went off to work and now I'm chilling at his for a bit, going to head home to get some more clothes in a bit. I'm totally shattered. SLEEEEEEEEEEP!!!!!

I hope those of you who are feeling rough get better soon. x

Trikken · 20/07/2009 11:02

welcome Tink!

I got my Matb1 form at my last mw appt, which was at 23 weeks. am totally shattered too, dh has just started a month of working at five am, which meant him being up at three, so i woke when he got up and when he left and also woke myself up twice, tho you'd think id be used to waking up in the night now but its left me shattered. ds and I got up so late we missed ds's last session of playgroup this term. ah well.

raggie · 20/07/2009 12:05

Hello tink! Welcome!

BBL and beepbeep we are moving to East Oxford, off Cowley Road so proper in town, which I am glad about - easier to be in the middle of things when moving to a new place...(she says?)DH grew up there so grandparents and some friends around too though Have signed up for NCT mat classes to meet people too though. PS Glad you enjoyed the wedding BBL, bet you looked HOT!

helips got my fingers crossed it's just a cold for you I am seeing my MW this afternoon so going to ask her about this cold I can't shake off. Like you no temp though so thought I was safe! Plus I've also got horrifically bleeding gums When I do my teeth I look like a vampire. Anyone else?

scarlotti · 20/07/2009 12:17

welcome tink

Have just spoken to my doctor and it's not the swine this end
For what it's worth, here's what he told me:
They look for two main symptoms when diagnosing swine flu - a temp of at least 39 but more like 40, and feeling so rough that getting out of bed to go to the loo is like climbing Everest. Anything else is just likely to be a bug or virus, and you should treat it with plenty of fluids and rest, and paracetamol.

I had that sydney flu over the millenium so know what proper flu feels like. I could barely move for 7 days, couldn't stand up long enough to boil the kettle!
So I feel a bit relieved to be honest, I can cope with feeling rough for a while as long as it's not going to turn any worse.

Now I just need to avoid public places then .... hmm, I work at the Police HQ so not sure how I can keep myself away from everyone

Hope everyone else is ok. Helips hope it's just a cold for you.

helips · 20/07/2009 12:43

The doctor has said it is swine flu but not going to prescribe anything as I haven't got a temperature but I'm to call back if symptoms get any worse.

scarlotti glad you haven't got it and thats interesting what your doctor says, although I just feel like I've got a bad cold, not flu, apparently there are a lot of mild cases going around and some people have it without realising.

Welcome tink08 sorry to hear about the spd, hope you feel better soon.

Koumak · 20/07/2009 12:54

Beepbeep I told work last week (25weeks) in writing about EDD and said I will give them forms when I get them! This will be hopefully this afternoon. I also want to get my hands on the ?health grant? and did anybody get Bounty form? I join them last time but not sure how to start receiving the packs again.

Welcome Tink08and congratulations Raggie and Pinkcaz on little girls!

Scarlotti public places hey? I work in open plan office (although in really small co) and spend an hour each way on the tube every day, in rush hour. Difficult to avoid, doubt my boss will have any sympathies in me coming half hour early and leaving half hour too. What tare the chances the mw will give me this in writing hey?

Pavlov I bought the green Isabella dress in sale last week. Will be wearing it to a wedding at end of august. This weekend I have decided to wear a black wrap one from there as well. I know it?s black Tamlin but can?t face wearing the same dress to two weddings as it?s the same circle of friends. I was just given a beautiful necklace for my birthday so will wear that and some silver shoes and handbag. I just thought that I can wear the black dress for work after the wedding so could justify buying two. And hoping as the wedding is not bound to be too posh I can get away with black. I heard that the brides sister who is pregnant too will be wearing ?trousers & top? so I should be fine right?

Everyone who is feeling down and ill sorry to hear that. I am just really tired at the moment. We spent weekend away in Suffolk at friends? house and had some friends with kids stay over. It was lovely, the kids had great time and the weather wasn?t too bad. Had BBQ but I forgot that being hostess is such a hard work, remind it me why I have been avoiding it!

I feel really nauseated today. And short of breath. Do you find that you can?t breathe properly? I am really struggling.

Wow Helips and Scarlotti did they actually tested for swine flu or just decided on the symptoms? It looks you either both have or not right?

Koumak · 20/07/2009 12:56

obviously meant reminded me

skorpion · 20/07/2009 12:58

Welcome tink raggie - I work in Oxford, on Iffley Road which is near, but we live just outside, closer to Banbury. I'm sure you'll love it, it's a great town.

My gums also bleed a lot, just started a few days ago, apparently it's normal.

I hope all the colds and flu clear up pronto for everybody.

OP posts:
beepbeep · 20/07/2009 12:59

Thanks for info re MATB1, my lot (also Police Scarlotti!!) will have to wait til 28 wks, but they're so disorganised they probably wouldn't notice if I gave it after that!

Raggie - I used to work around the E Oxford, love that area, the Cowley Road is great and has such a buzz about it. DH grew up around that area andwe still love going back. There's a great Asian supermarket where we visit every so often for spices and stuff! I'm in West Oxon, so other side of Oxford, but used to live just near JR.

I WISH my DS would crawl, he's 13 months and rolls everywhere and ges into alsorts of mischief, he's currently pulling all the shoes off the rack! But he's not bothered by pulling himself up on anything and though can get his little bottom in the air and also his arms straigh and head up he can't seem to coordinate doing it at the same time!! Bless him, he gets so fustrated with himself. DD wa nearly walking by his age. DH tells people that DS has moved from sitting to lounging and he's not far wrong - lazy little tyke!

scarlotti · 20/07/2009 13:12

beepbeep am in IT and a contractor so not proper police!!

Am in same boat as others with this not being my first - last mw appointment was at 16 weeks as scan counts as appointment. Next is at 28 weeks. I've been given my health in pregnancy grant form and she said if I wanted to send it off at 25 weeks (you can't send it earlier) to drop it off and she'd sign it. I can also get the MATB1 then too if I need it. I'll probably wait.

Koumak my notes came with lots of info, along with a book on pregnancy with the first bounty pack voucher in the inside cover. If I remember correctly, you get the second at the hospital or from your mw after giving birth.

beepbeep · 20/07/2009 13:33

Scarlotti -
remember getting bounty appliaction in the book, but must admit I didn't actually go and get it. Found the one at hospital to be best.

When did you get given the health in pregnancy form? I'm assuming my MW will deal with that at my 28wk appt also.

Unfortunately I am 'proper' police, so though on light duties am still expected to have normal contact with public (both at station and by going to their houses), all this swine flu talk makes me think i should be being a little cautious, but how can you when it's your job (might have to ask them if anyone's ill before I go then refus if so - yeah right, that'd go down like a tonne of bricks!!)

skorpion · 20/07/2009 13:34

beepbeep - my sister's first two didn't crawl: just shuffled along on their bottoms and went straight on to walking from there. Only the little one is crawling, but from what I can gather my mum taught him when she visited last time. I can just imagine that

Koumak · 20/07/2009 13:47

I might remember (vaguely) that there was a book of some sorts but not sure if I sent the form off before recycling it?.still haven?t heard from them though nor did I get any vouchers or goodie bag! Isn?t the midwife supposed to give you the first pack?

I did get the free bag by joining boots baby club or whatever it is called. But it looks a little cheap and there was only changing bag inside. Not very exciting! But apparently if you join baby club you can get some sort of huggies pack but not sure.
