Hi wizzywoo my ds will be 2 next month but he has been in a bed for quite a while as he could climb out of his cot and I was worried about him hurting himself. It's been a bit of a pain as it means he can get out, which he does alot! However, once he is asleep he stays there until morning and dare I say it, the last few nights he has stayed in bed so feel like I'm turning a corner.

I went out with my sil and her teacher friends and they were discussing names. I didn't say what names I liked and they all said don't call a ds Charlie as they are all naughty, oops., thats the name I like! Also, spoke to my mum re names and she kept saying, I don't like that at all, aaarrrgghh! Think I'm going to give up telling people until the little one is here, then they'll just have to lump it!

Going camping this weekend but the weather forecast is heavy rain, oh no! Wish me luck!

Have a nice weekend everyone

"DD was a surprise - I was CONVINCED she was a boy. This pg has been so different I'm
also convinced this one is a boy... " belgianbun me too, x2!

On the tiredness front - I went to bed at 8.30pm last night and it was AMAZING. It's made me wonder why I bother staying up in the evenings at all...

tamlin was it you who recommended Anne Tyler's Digging to America? I'm reading that at the moment and really enjoying it. Can't get my head round Bitsy though. It seems like we're supposed to like her, at least a little bit, but she is just so annoying.

Sorry to hear a few of you having back problems Hope the crutches/ braces help.

FoucaultIsTheDaddy · 10/07/2009 09:58

Hello ladies, is it too late to join the November bumps? I thought I could either lurk for a while, which I find a little creepy, or I could just jump right in and nervously say hello.

hello

I'm 22 weeks pregnant with my first little one who came as a huge surprise. Even the doctor was shocked. OH and I are 25, and have just moved to the Broadway Market area of Hackney. Yes, I should be unpacking right now, but I thought 10 more minutes of procrastination wouldn't do any harm. Besides, I'm waiting for my hips to stop aching. Damn, this is a new pregnancy symptom I'm still learning to deal with. Joy.

I feel like the kid starting school half way through the term. Eeeek!

I stayed up late waiting for dh to get home after his late shift and got up earlier than norm so dont feel too good, may go to bed at eight, (half past maybe$) tonight as i work saturdays and dont want to feel like crap.

I was convinced ds was a girl and thought bump was boy so wrong on both accounts. lol

mumsiebumsie · 10/07/2009 10:07

Hi Foucault!

Broodzilla · 10/07/2009 10:12

Morning all!

Hope you're all having a sunny Friday morning?
I'm getting a little bit upset with having the kittens around now - they're SO cute, they really are... but one of them has started to use our bed as her potty. I've washed all of our bedding (duvet and mattress protector included) three days on the trot now. The neighbours must think I'm mental. Luckily we've got homes for them all, but they won't be going until mid August sometime, so we've got a long while to go...

Laugs congratulations on the scan! Must make it so much more real for little ones who might struggle to get their head around the fact that mummy's got a baby in her tummy!

Erika I wouldn't worry too much, just had a look at my scan report and mine was 168mm (but I was 19+4 at the time). Remember, it's the circumference, not the diameter, so it's actually no bigger than an average tomato.

BeepBeep How's your DD?

Wizzy at your service - it is a BRIO Happy. They do fabulous doubles as well! LOL at hippo dancing... really hope the crutches help, and that you can have someone else pop around to help you out while DH is gone.

Katster That's exactly it! The whole belly feels really tight suddenly, like someone's hugging you really tight or something, and hurts period pains. Apparently there's no need to worry unless there's more than 4 in an hour, but I'd still like to know if it's ok to for example keep walking when they happen (I know if they get bad we should lie down...) Anyway, am sure the midwife will talk some sense to me.

ErikaMaye · 10/07/2009 11:00

Thanks, Broodzilla... I'll breathe out now hehe. At least its made me think about CS's without freaking out too much. Still terrified at the pospect, but thinking more rationally at least. Sorry to hear about your disobident kittens!!!

Laugs - Eight thirty... drools That would be so nice. However, my little pain in the arse brother doesn't get shipped off to bed until 10. I know I shouldn't judge my parents on their parenting, but they then wonder why he's so tired and grump!!! Think I might cook dinner tonight then get into my PJs One of the best thing about my DP? He loves PJs. Yessss!!!

Poor you bb at Wembley! Hope you're feeling better now.

Hope the weather isn't too bad for your camping trip, helips

And, of course - welcome, Foucault We're not that scary, honestly! Hope your unpacking doesn't prove to be too stressful.

Koumak · 10/07/2009 11:30

i am loving our list. its soooooooooo lovely to hear about all the happy scans

just passing but does anybody know about link about when we HAVE to start the maternity leave? as in the latest? my work never had anybody pregnant before can you tell?

Trikken · 10/07/2009 12:45

we dont have to leave work until we want to,im pretty sure you could work right up til the birth if you particularly wanted to but think most people take 8 weeks off before hand to prepare, I know i certainly am.

mobar · 10/07/2009 13:07

Hello all

New on the site and due 26th Nov with number 2 not had 2nd scan yet is on 30th. Koumak, you dont have to leave until birth if you dont want to but have to inform work 15th week before due date. Im leaving three weeks before, depends on your job really. Hope helps

Koumak · 10/07/2009 13:10

would you say the EDD is the possible latest you can start or are we ok (legally) to still work after that if the baby still not here?

Koumak · 10/07/2009 13:11

And i meant to say WELCOME FoucaultIsTheDaddy and Mobar

helips · 10/07/2009 13:39

Hello and welcome foucaultisthedaddy and mobar don't worry about joining late, we are a friendly bunch who love a good chat. In fact, sometimes its hard to keep up!

claired21 · 10/07/2009 14:09

Hiya

We can work until we go into labour if we want to and if you do, mat leave begins the day after the birth. Something I'd considered but female hr director laughed when I suggested it. With this being my first, I don't have another at home to look after so figured I should work as late as I can but I also have annual leave to use up beforehand... Decisions decisions.

Oh yeah, I also discovered that while you're on maternity leave you accrue public holidays and can add these on as paid holidays before you go back to work.

Koumak · 10/07/2009 14:17

thats what i have been told but nobody can tell me if you can start maternity leave after EDD? lets say my EDD is 28 Oct can i state i want to start maternity leave 1 Nov?

Laugs · 10/07/2009 15:26

Just looked it up on direct.gov koumak but they don't have an answer there either. Maybe it'll say on the MATB1 form when you get it. I'd guess if it doesn't say you can do whatever you want.

Do you have a particular reason for wanting to work until the end? For myself, I'd definitely want some time off to rest before the baby arrives. That said, I think you can keep going as long as you need to. I know I felt like I couldn't have worked a single day later last time, just because I'd set myself that goal I think.

claire my female boss suggested to me I should consider working right til the end (she has 4 kids and this is what she did with 3 of them). A bit different if it's your own business though! And I had a 1.5hr commute each way. No chance.

Hello foucault and mobar! Come and join the fun.

Koumak · 10/07/2009 15:52

money a big reason really as have minimal maternity with this company and also with ds so overdue last time hoping that working as long as possible will get things going as dont want to be induce again

mobar · 10/07/2009 16:13

Thanks for all the hellos you are right it can be hard to keep up. work at sols and just asked boss she said you can work right until you give birth, you just tell them that your due date is etc but you will work to the day you drop, however they may not allow you to as you could have a cliam against them should something go wrong, or they may ask you to put it in writing to say that your due date is etc but will work until give birth and will not bring cliam against them if anything happens at work

ErikaMaye · 10/07/2009 16:17
