High five Laugs - Go you!!!

Broodzilla · 08/07/2009 11:48

Yay for Laugs and Erika, how lovely to have such good news!

Laugs · 08/07/2009 11:59

Let's celebrate! I am having a cup of tea and a Penguin biscuit

ok, ok, two Penguin biscuits, but they definitely got smaller since I used to have packed lunches...

turtle23 · 08/07/2009 12:19

Laugs- Veg pate can get lysteria in it same as meat ones. Meat ones just doubly bad due to Vit A. My advice? Look into another country's rules (eg France) and go with what they say. We are v paranoid here.

weston · 08/07/2009 13:27

i have just bought my first christmas present...maddness or sanity....reckon might be a little busy to shop in Nov. and have to get around 40....

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 08/07/2009 13:37

Weston blimey that is a great idea! Talk about forward thinking! I like it. Might have to start myself now you put the idea in my head. We have lots to buy for including having to send abroad potentially if they don't decide to all come here afterall (not here as in my home, phew! we are going to rent somewhere for xmas)

Broodzilla · 08/07/2009 14:16

Laugs I'll join you with a cuppa, but am banned from having anything sweet for a while after I scoffed ALL the chocolate we bought from the airport. ALL of it. TONS of it.

Weston That's what I call being organised! I was signing our Thank-You cards the other day and thought it might be a good idea to get Xmas cards done some time before November, but didn't get as far as thinking about pressies. And let's face it - they're far more difficult to do with a baby in tow.

I'm guessing it'll be a pretty low-key Xmas either way.

beepbeep · 08/07/2009 15:10

Just got home from hospital, DD taken in yesterday after strugling to breath with her croup, they gave her steroids to reduce swell in her windpipe and then more this morning, she still really miserable but at least she can breath poor thing!

DD was a Nov baby (actually de beginning of Dec), I had all my shopping done, wrapped, cards written etc and bagged up by the time she wa born - people tought i was mad but it was a god send! Already done quite a bit of present shopping, would def recommend it.

Laugs - only 2??!!

Hope everyone else is ok, sound like scans have been going well.

weston · 08/07/2009 15:15

that sounds really scarey beepbeep hope she gets better soon

phew glad i am not a complete nutter, and sales are on too so great time to shop! spent most of my first 3 months with dd shopping but think with 2 will be lucky to make it out of the house...hurrah for on line shopping..

tigger32 · 08/07/2009 17:18

Yeah for the good news

beepbeep so sorry your dd has been so poorly, I hope she feels much better soon

I have to confess I too have done a few bits of christmas shopping and have already sorted the ds's birthdays (including parties) for september! Still loads to sort for xmas though, thought about doing cards but who would I sign it from? We won't decide on a name until we can see baby, so maybe just tigger's family??

ErikaMaye · 08/07/2009 17:52

Your poor DD beepbeep - I hope she feels better really soon.

Hmmm... Christmas shopping? That sounds like such a good plan... I might just do it all online (again!) this year. I'm terrible on amazon...

As for the pengiun biscuits... I saw them reduced in the Co-op the other day, and my DP litterally had to drag me away... Admittedly he did it for my own good, as I'd already bought some jam tarts and some cookies Not that I understand why - I mean, my waist and hips are MIA anyway haha!!

Everyone keeps telling me how the pregnancy is suiting me and that if I didn't stand side ways you wouldn't know I was pregnant. Feeling good! That little anorexic voice is a tiny bit easy to suppress hearing that

I felt him kicking on the outside for the first time today!! I was laying on the sofa with my hand just resting on my belly, and I felt it!! So odd...

turtle23 · 08/07/2009 17:53

I think bump has a name. We have (90%) decided on Tristan.

Broodzilla · 08/07/2009 18:15

Good point Tigger - also, I quite like the idea of sending out Xmas cards with a picture of the bean. I know that some people think that's really naff, but still...

beepbeep that sounds really scary, but I guess your DD is in good hands and hopefully on a road to recovery!

turtle I like Tristan! It's quite unusual isn't it? It it Cornish? (I only know of one, and he's Cornish born and bread.)

We've packed the Pram away as it'd be ridiculous to keep it sitting out this early. (Plus, the three crazed kittens we've still got running around would probably end up sleeping or weeing in it or both.)
It is not good to get impatient at 23 weeks, but I can't help it. I've never been good at waiting for things. Hopefully the Bean is though, he's got a fair bit of growing to do yet.

Laugs · 08/07/2009 19:58

I'm impressed so many of you are so organised with xmas presents! I'm sure I'll be doing mine last minute as always. Actually DD was born in November and after a few weeks I used to take her into town every day christmas shopping. We never actually bought anything though! I think I was just too scared to be at home on my own with her; I felt safer amongst the throngs of shoppers.

Have my scan tomorrow and am feeling quite nervous. We're going to have to take DD with us again, which I didn't really want to do. And DH has another exam at 6pm (he's had one every night this week), so I'll have to take her home on my own. Just hoping it's all good news.

helips · 08/07/2009 20:19

Hi everyone, I really want to add myself to the list but not sure how to cut and paste using an apple mac. Anyone know how or failing that, want to do it for me [cheeky emoticon!] Not sure what colour beany is as decided to keep it a surprise!

beepbeep hope your dd is ok, you must have been so worried, poor little thing. Hope she starts to feel better soon.

Can't believe there is talk of Christmas already. Don't get me wrong, I love love love Christmas but think I will hold off buying anything until at least October.

erika lovely to hear you in such high spirits, keep it up girl!

I've still got my cold/possible swine flu ;) am fed up with this stupid cough, hope it goes soon. On a positive note I have put ds to bed and for the first time since being in a proper bed he has stayed put and not got up. Yay! Hoping this is not a fluke but a turning point into easier bedtimes!

helips · 08/07/2009 20:20

Good luck with the scan tomorrow laugs

Sorry meant to say beepbeep hope your DD is feeling better this evening. I think steroids normally kick in quite quickly. It must have been horrible for you all last night.

helips · 08/07/2009 20:50

Thanks laugs I've been using this laptop for years, you'd think I'd know how to do something as simple as cut and paste!

katster37 · 08/07/2009 20:56

Hi everyone
Just catching up after hectic few days. Two parents evenings, then we were out last night watching Derren Brown - soooo good, I still can't understand how he does it??!? It was seriously good though.
Wow - congrats Erika and Turtle on your boys! Can't believe how even the boy/girl ratio is! Although I will await confirmation at my scan next week (a week today... How slowly is time passing?) We wouldn't have chosen to find out actually, it was that the sonographer announced it at 13 weeks - DH was really annoyed at the time but seems to have got over it!
A girl in my class has swine flu Stupidly, I told my Mum who is being hysterical about it, whereas I feel fairly 'there's absolutely nothing I can do about it' if that makes sense.
Erika great to hear you sounding so positive.
And Laugs yep I am definitely a 90s indie loon!! No music has been the same since Do you remember Echobelly? Just listening to them on Spotify! I love it!

katster37 · 08/07/2009 20:56

Sorry Laugs also meant to say congrats on the job news!

Ninjacat · 08/07/2009 21:06

Helpis ohh Macs, that's my department

Apple C (or cmd C if its a newer comp) = copy
Apple V (or cmd V) = paste

Beep Hope dd is on the mend. I know a few of us on this thread have had dc's suffer with croup. If it's any comfort they do grow out of it (although I found that very little comfort when the dr said it and we were in the thick of it but we have emerged the other side)

Laugs Congrats on landing a national!!! woo hoo, you deserve that second penguine (personally I have problems resisting the second packet)

Pavlov A boy. Yay and little baby girls for ursigurke and Tabbykat (you may have posted that before but only just noticed) congrats all!!!!

I'm not sure I can sanction talk of Christmas in July. I'm sorry it's just wrong. Is it not sacraligous?

Ninjacat · 08/07/2009 21:10

I had a swine flu panic this morning. I put into google "first symptoms of Swine Flu" and the answer it came back with was "Panic". That made me chuckle and brought me down to earth.

Naetha · 08/07/2009 21:17

I'm using impending birth as an excuse not to bother with Christmas!

Is that bad?

Obviously DS will get stuff, and I'll sort something out for niece and nephew, but the rest of them are old enough to handle one missed Christmas!

ErikaMaye · 08/07/2009 22:01

In case I don't log in tomorrow morning, hope the scan goes well, Laugs

Turtle - I like Tristian

Have been told that firstly, my father doesn't like the name we've chosen, and secondly, having middle names because we're double-barreling the surname is too much... But I've kinda cocked my head to the side and decided I don't care! We're happy. And besides - if he doesn't like the middle names, he can ignore them aside from offical documents. What's wrong with Bryn?!? I'm a tiny bit upset by my Dad. He's not trying to change my mind but still...

Anyway - big, huge 's to you all! I'm off to watch Jo Brand's new show!
