So exciting that everybody is starting to get things ready for baby! I got a rocker chair from the Mamas and Papas sale that arrived yesterday.

I've handed in my MAT B1 form and maternity leave starts on 30th October, I'll be 34 weeks. I'm counting down the days already!

Pinkjenny · 19/08/2009 11:47

Am I the last one with scan news? Tomorrow at 9.40am, soooo excited.

I finish work on 20th November, can't bloody wait.

Scorps · 19/08/2009 11:49

thats my birthday pinkjenny

I'm doing a bit better, baby is kickign alot now and keeping me focussed! My parents have paid for me to go to a spa this weekend as they can see i need a break/rest. I heart my parents

Hope everyone is well

AmazingBouncingFerret · 19/08/2009 11:51

good luck with the scan pinkjenny!

I feel a bit better now, for some reason thought I was starting maternity leave stupidly early.

Pinkjenny · 19/08/2009 11:55

The earlier the better! Last time I finished on the Friday and had dd the following Thursday, which was just ridiculously late. As dd will still be in nursery for two days a week, I'm going to spend some time getting ready for Christmas and sorting the baby's things out.

I'm really looking forward to it!

We're off to Menorca with my parents on 12th September, 5* AI - fab deal through Sovereign who are brilliant , and when I get back I'll have 9 weeks left in work. Isn't it funny how you set yourself all these little milestones.

Scorps, that is so lovely of your parents, please try and relax and enjoy it.

LaDiDaDi · 19/08/2009 18:26

I'm due on 26th Dec and I think that I'm going to stop work on Nov 30th, hoping that this isn't too ambitious !

Claire236 · 19/08/2009 21:14

I'm due 7 Dec & finish work 23 Oct. I had been planning on finishing 4 weeks before my due date but am now going to finish at half term as it seemed pointless having a week off for half term then going back to work for a week. My first 4 weeks are leave then my mat leave starts 2 weeks before my due date. With ds1 I was planning on working until 2 weeks before my due date then he arrived 3 & a bit weeks early which I'm determined not to have happen this time.

I've bought a few baby bits & my mum has bought some stuff. Doing a big shop for pretty much everything next week when we're back in the UK. Have just been working out roughly how much money I'll be spending & it's scary when you do it all at once.

BexJ78 · 19/08/2009 22:22

hi everyone!
just been to pregnancy yoga, so feeling very smug! ha ha! was good we talked a lot about optical fetal positioning which fits in nicely with a leaflet my MW gave me last time. nothing i need to worry about just yet, but sounds like it is worth taking on board from 32 weeks onwards.
Anyway, i am due 5 december and am planning on fnishing work 12 november. I have 15 days leave left to use, so I am taking that up to 4th dec and then maternity leave kicks in on 5th dec. having a bit of a mare wiith Dh leave though, as he has been saving holidays to supplement his paternity leave, but his leave year finishes end of Dec and his company won't let him carry any leave over without dispensation from the UK CEO!! so, if I go over, the baby could potentially be as late as 18th/19th dec and then he won't be able to fit all his leave in before the end of the leave year...we aren't really sure what to do at mo, so are taking the usual approach...bitching and moaning about it!!

LaDiDaDi · 19/08/2009 22:44

I'm excited as just buying (order taking ages to process) some nursery wallpaper, two sleeping bags, a mobile and a little striped all in one from mamas and papas.

I can't decide whether to buy a new moses basket or just new covers and mattress for the one I've got; I think that new seperate bits will be almost as much as a whole new one iyswim. I'm also wondering why M&P moses baskets seem so much more expensive than other brands? Are they bigger?

AmazingBouncingFerret · 20/08/2009 08:34

Neh you are just paying for the name.

GoldenSnitch · 20/08/2009 10:40

EVERYTHING at M&P is more expensive than everywhere else!

GoldenSnitch · 20/08/2009 11:18

Does anyone else have a very warm bump?

I seem to have spent the whole of this pregnancy so far with my t-shirt tucked into my bra just to cool it down!!

LaDiDaDi · 20/08/2009 11:21

Ok then kiddicare or ebay for me.

Or a crib instead of a basket???

GoldenSnitch · 20/08/2009 11:35

We'll be using the beauitful, white, swinging crib in that we used for DS while baby sleeps in our bedrrom at night. DH and his sisters all slept in it as babies too so it's a bit of a heirloom. We'll get a new mattress again obviously.

But it's far too heavy to move around the house so a friend is lending me her Moses basket to have downstairs so I have somewhere safe to put DD down during the day where I can keep an eye on her and play with DS.

If I were you LaDiDaDi - I'd get a new mattress and covers for your old basket or a new basket bundle if that's cheaper.. Cribs are lovely but can be cumbersome

LaDiDaDi · 20/08/2009 13:01

Have seen a lovely basket bundle on ebay BNWT for 32 pounds plus p&p! New cover sets are 20 plus a new mattress so no realy difference.

Crib on kiddicare is 40 pounds..and might last a bit longer but as you say GS, is not really mobile.

DD was prem ad only 4lb when we brought her home from hospital so I got lots of use out of her basket until she grew out of it. I'm just aware that if this ds is term he might only be in a basket for a very short period of time, then we'd have to put him in the cotbed in his nursery, room next door to us but perhaps in a crib we could keep him in with us for a bit longer??

Decisions, decisions!

GoldenSnitch · 20/08/2009 13:24

I've been trying to choose a baby sling. I think the Moby wrap is my favourite but then it comes in loads and loads of colours!

Part of me is tempted with pink cause we're having a little girl but I might have more chance of getting DH to wear it if I get a slightly less girly colour

LaDiDaDi · 20/08/2009 13:55

I've been looking at the Moby and the Closer wraps.

I've got a Coorie fleece pouch from dd which I will use as well and I would reccommend as being very easy to use.

GoldenSnitch · 20/08/2009 14:21

I want one I can (attempt to) feed in as well as share with DH. I looked at the Corrie fleeces but it said it was fitted to the adult and as I am 5'1" and DH is 6', I figured we would have trouble sharing it. A was also toldmy a few people that it hurt after a while cause it went over just one shoulder.

We already have a Baby Bjorn but I hated it with DS. It used to give me a really sore back cause the crossover straps at the back used to ride up.

Moby and Closer both look very similar to me, do you know if there is any difference?

Scorps · 20/08/2009 14:33

this is our crib , i have it dressed in white bumper, sheet and canopy ready for her

I already have a sling from last time; though im off to investigate the ones you have mentioned, as i think being bale to BF in one would be a massive bonus.

Just about managing here, feeling very sorry for myself actually though very excited about the weekend, i think the psace will help.

Scorps · 20/08/2009 14:38

the moby wrap looks like it may be worth a go, though can you bf in it easily? Ermm, how? i like the eggplant colour one, DH wouldn't wear the pink.

GoldenSnitch · 20/08/2009 14:44

There are instructions here

I think I'm going to order one!

Scorps · 20/08/2009 14:48

that looks like something to practise at home first just looks easier for supermarket or in town when baby very small.

GoldenSnitch · 20/08/2009 14:52

I've seen a woman going down the slides at our local soft play with a teeny in one of these!!

I'm figuring DS might not be quite so jealous if I can continue to run after him at soft play and in the park etc and that a wrap might make that a lot easier than trying to push a buggy while baby is small enough to carry.

I'm guessing I might need to sit down to feed but if the sling will do most of the support, I can have 2 hands free to read books, play shops etc

Scorps · 20/08/2009 14:54

that sounds good re your ds, applies to my dd1 too. Also its very snug for our December ones too. Plus easier to take on the bus than a double

What colour will you get? I like the eggplant colour, or black is fine. The prints are nice too. I might check ebay, actually (i heart eBay!)

GoldenSnitch · 20/08/2009 15:12

I asked DH which he liked (although he is colour blind so I did reserve the right to ignore him ) and he said Red, Natural or Moss.

Red I ruled out cause it's unlikely to go with many of my clothes, Natural I think would get grubby looking very quickly (although they are washable) but I was quite liking Moss.

There do seem to be quite a few Moss ones on Ebay so I'm guessing it's a pretty popular colour and might be easiest to sell on second hand.

Moss will go with little pink clothes too

Should be lovely and snuggly for little December babies. Keeping them all close and warm.
