Scorps - glad your scan went well and you got the result you wanted.

One week today I MIGHT be finding out what we're having, haven't fully decided but I think we are swaying towards finding out, just feel like it'll be more real and we can picture our little family in our heads a bit better...

GoldenSnitch · 07/08/2009 16:07

I'm hoping to find out on Tuesday... very of everyone who knows already!!

Took DS out with my Mum without the buggy today. Let's just say, it has TOTALLY convinced me that we need a double buggy!!

madmissy · 07/08/2009 20:15

CONGRATS SCORPS!

we will have 2 dds and one son come xmas very excited lol
glad it went well

BexJ78 · 07/08/2009 20:40

that is great news scorps!

it has suddenly dawned on me that i am having a baby! it is so strange to think by christmas it won't just be me and DH... I just can't get my head around it, but it is great!

LaDiDaDi · 08/08/2009 09:07

I had a lovely time this morning when dd came into bed for a cuddle with me and I was lying cuddling her with one arm and feeling the bump kicking away with the other hand .

Spent a fortune online on mat. clothes last night. Hope I like some of them when they arrive.

Counting down until my scan on Weds. of those who know the sex already!

alexpolismum · 08/08/2009 13:36

Golden Snitch - I managed without a double buggy with my two. At first I had the new baby in a ring sling and ds in the buggy, but as the baby got bigger and heavier, I put her in the buggy and used a buggy board for ds. It has worked for me for the last 14 months!

GoldenSnitch · 08/08/2009 17:32

DS just sits if we're not going where he wants to though alex - wouldn't work with a buggy board i'm afraid.

Plus, it's a good excuse to get rid of my current hated Silvercross 3D!!

Scorps · 08/08/2009 19:51

We deffo need a double, we are going for a P&T Sport, in black & charcoal (i dont think i can do the bright pink one lol). We will get it in a couple of months.

It's so lovely knowing my little daughter is in my tummy, I'm looking forward to having two little girls i really feel so lucky, 2 of each, the boys close and the girls close. I think we will name her Lacey Amber. Our other daughter is Millie (Mimi) Grace.

I'm doing ok, trying to keep strong, though i have cried every day .

I got out Mimi's tiny baby stuff today and washed and line dried, so lovely all hanging on the line, all the tiny pink sleepsuits!

AmazingBouncingFerret · 08/08/2009 20:51

Well if I want to save my pennies my little girl is going to spend the first three months in nice blue sleepsuits! Luckily as DS got older I had this obsession for bright stripey outfits so she wont look out of place in them!
Lacey Amber is a lovely name Scorps, Im still completely undecided, me and DH cannot agree on anything. You have planted a seed with the name Amber but I think family members will think im weird, DS is called Jake and when I was little we owned a dog called Jake, unfortunately we owned a dog called Amber to! I can just imagine their faces thinking ive named both my kids after past family pets!!!

GoldenSnitch · 08/08/2009 21:07

We want a P&T Sport too - let me know if you find somewhere cheap to buy one...

LaDiDaDi · 09/08/2009 00:21

Meant to add earlier that I'm 20 weeks today and I've now gained 10 lbs with a toliet paper test of 7 sheets.

Jealous of those of you who need a new buggy. Dd will be 3.7 when this one is due so I can't really justify it as her Quinny Buzz is fine. Will buy some new slings though.

Claire236 · 09/08/2009 10:33

GoldenSnitch - Why do you hate your 3D. I'd been thinking about getting one.

Had my 3D scan on Fri & am very relieved that this baby won't need the op his brother had. Got some amazing pictures too.

GoldenSnitch · 09/08/2009 14:16

Claire - It's better than a lot I have seen but;

  1. It is impossible to push with one hand and veers off to the side if you try
  2. The mechanism bust very early so now it is difficult to get up and down whereas it started off easy
  3. The zips on the wind cover have broken so occasionally the whole thing just comes away at a touch.
  4. The basket underneath is quite hard to get things into and will only take small things because of the small gap.
  5. The front bar is fabric covered, gets filthy and is impossible to clean properly
  6. The cosy toes is quite short and DS was too tall from it after about 12 months.

It does have good points. It's very small when folded so good for small cars. The lie flat baby cot is really good (but does look a bit strange if you use it without the footmuff. It's really easy to wash too as it all comes apart and I've had most of mine through the washing machine on a hand wash cycle more than once.

My friend has a Polo just like me and manages to fit her Graco pushchair in the boot. If I was choosing a single again, I think I'd have one of those because it has one long bar to push and therefore can be done one handed, the basket is enormous and it has a fab little tray for the child which has been amazingly useful for her and kept her pushchair cleaner than ours.

Hope that helps...

GoldenSnitch · 09/08/2009 14:19

Ooh, just remembered, my friend sent her Silvercross 3D back twice cause of bust bits. She swapped it at the earliest opportunity. Another friend hated hers so much, she got a cheap Maclaren as soon as she could.

And the difference between the higher and lower settings on the handles is really tiny and not really worth bothering with...

Claire236 · 09/08/2009 19:21

Thanks for that GoldenSnitch. I had a Graco travel system with ds which I loved until he got a bit bigger as it was quite heavy. Was looking at a friends M&P Pliko Pramette earlier on which I'm also considering & she thinks is great so maybe would be better off with one of those.

GoldenSnitch · 09/08/2009 20:12

Apparently the thing to watch out for with the Pilko is that the basket rubs on the wheels and wears away.

I looked at them both as my MIL was desperate to buy us the Pilko.

BexJ78 · 09/08/2009 20:40

i was thinking of getting a maclaren xt as everyone seems to think they are pretty good. just a bit worried to not be going along the travel system route. i think we need to go and actually try some rather than just looking at them on the web... i did wonder though about getting a pliko pramette second hand to just see us through the first couple of months. there is such a lot of choice it really is a nightmare!!

GoldenSnitch · 09/08/2009 22:04

Using a car seat as a pushchair is supposed to be a really bad idea though. More than a couple of hours in a carseat is thought to damage baby's backs and there is some SIDS research to say sleeping curled up like that can increase their cot death risk.

Much better to have a pushchair that does lie-flat

lolianja · 09/08/2009 22:59

Had another scan this morning (last one was coming up 2 weeks ago and needed another as fluid levels for both twins were very low).

Things seem to have evened up a bit and although the fluid levels are still right on the lower edge of adequacy, I'm in the clear for now. Have had to book another scan for 2 weeks time, just to keep an eye on things.

Didn't find out the sexes at either scan, by the way. Had the midwife write it down as my ex wanted to know. I couldn't resist but to listen as she scribbled and rhythmically it did sound rather like girl-boy. But I could be wrong, of course.

ViktoriaMac · 09/08/2009 23:16

Hey everyone,

Just wondering, I have my 21 week scan tomorrow and as we are going on our (3 months belated) honeymoon on Friday DH can't get any time off work, so is sneaking out to a "meeting" to come with me, but how long should it take? He will need to give work some kind of indication when to expect him back!

Cheers

Scorps · 10/08/2009 09:04

Vik - about half an hour good luck!

Lolinja - good to hear about the twins, but i am at you listening to her writing

What GS says about car seats is true - they are only meant for car travel; really; as being scrunched up like that restricts their airways and increases the risk of SIDS. For those whpo are extra concerned you can get lie-flat carseats, britax.

New dd doesnt actually need much....just a snowsuit and a bouncy chair and i need about 2 more BF bras(will treat self to Hotmilk). Buggy too. Cheap baby

Doing ok, got through the weekend with only a few crying incidents and 2 name calling ones . Trying to be 'brave' when i want to hurt them both.

sparklycheerymummy · 10/08/2009 11:20

HI scorps i was in your position mith my dd who is 7 now...... i stayed with him for a year after she was born thinking i was doing the right thing and he did it again from her being 10 months old. Ravgirl · 10/08/2009 15:43

Hello all, it's been ages since I was last on here so I'm sure I've missed loads!

Hope everyone is well, I've had my 20 week scan now & all well but didn't want to know what we were having (although I did spend most of the scan trying to spot for myself!!)

Feeling bubba kicking a bit now most days, mostly at night when I'm trying to chill. I'm struggling a bit with my job as I'm away a lot & have an hour commute each way and I'm tired beyond belief, guess it's good practice for afterwards....

Anyway, just wanted to drop by and say Hi.

AmazingBouncingFerret · 10/08/2009 15:52

Saw the most hilarious outfit for a newborn girl when out shopping yesterday, it was in matalan. Denim skirt, cream gypsy style blouse and a fake fur waistcoat!! FOR A NEWBORN! I was in stitches.

Disclaimer: I hope I havent offended anyone by ridiculing this outfit, I am very much a member of the shove the baby in a sleepsuit for the first 6 months camp. Sorry!
