Morning all.
Had a read back over some posts.
You are a busy lot!!
For those going away have a wonderful time.
For those who are ill, achy, under the weather, I hope you perk up soon.
I had a dreadful nights sleep last night, ended up in the spare room!
My ds1's school now has swine flu, in fact most of them in my area do so they arent being closed as the community has been exposed to it.
Id rather he got it now and got treated for it than later in October when baby is due and its turning cold etc. Apparently its no way near as bad as they though???
We are having a quiet day today with some gardening, paddling pool and a bbq.
At my scan the mw told me the baby was very low and probably wouldnt move up as its my third, I wonder if that outs paid to excercise? cannot stop eating large bars of chocolate, its every night, I have to stop now. I reckon Ive gained a stone so far, Ill be 23 weeks on Monday. This month should fly as its both ds birthdays and my sisters and my 2 close friends 30ths, Im already broke!
In fact Ive found a Hauck Pram for £179.95 down from £399, It comes with soft carry cot, foot muff, rain cover and bag is forward or rear facing etc. Im going to get it now as it wont be in the sale for much longer, bit early I know.
Anyone else bought anything yet?

twinklegreen · 27/06/2009 09:16

Hi everyone

Just a quick one for all people on here in the York area.
There's a NCT baby fair at Huntington School today 1-3pm. Usually really good for getting lots of info/freebies/bargains so if anyone's around do pop in!

PS. I'll be on the Treasure Chest Breastfeeding support stand

twinklegreen · 27/06/2009 16:35

kkkaty lovely to meet you in the flesh today!

HumphreysCorner · 27/06/2009 20:34

I've already put 2 stone on. Will worry about dieting afterwards.

It is DD2's 3rd B'Day today so shattered after our family BBQ.

Hope all OK.

HC

KKKKaty · 27/06/2009 22:44

You too Twinklegreen! Thanks for the heads up about the NCT thing. It was worth it for the info about the cheap TENS hire alone! I'll definitely be going with that. And I'll be having a good read of the bumf I got from you.

LittleMissBliss · 27/06/2009 22:59

I need scales, well batteries for our scales. I know i've put on allot more weight because my thighs touch. I'm getting bobbly bits on my leggings and look really out of proportion small waist round tum and fat thighs and bum, thin claves...?!.

I'm not even eating loads but think its the lack of movement, i'm exhausted all the time.

Talking of wich.... my bed calls.

NITE ALL.

peachespaige · 28/06/2009 08:24

Morning all.
I agree Tens Machines are helpful, I used one with each of my boys and it does take the edge off.
The mw told me that I had to go in to hospital at the first contraction this time as I went in at 6 cm with ds1 and it was a 22 hour labor start to finish and with ds2 I had him 20mins after getting to hospital, very nearly a car park baby! I think it was 6 hours from the very first twinge of contractions. Mind you I tore with each.
Ds2 should have been a water birth and the mw had everything ready for me but the porter panicked and wheeled me up to the labor ward (I was booked into the mw lead unit) so I got there and they hadnt a clue who I was and my notes were elsewhere but out he popped 15 mins later!
When I finally got down to where I was meant to be the mw all clapped and said I was the famous quick deliverer, that was until a lady came in and delivered in 3 minutes!
Its such a nice hospital, they have wooden cribs and a pull out bed for dp in the rooms!
Im actually quite looking forward to it!

BellaCullen · 28/06/2009 16:38

HC hope you had a nice BBQ yesterday.Don`t worry about the weight definitely wait to worrry till after.

Is a Tens machine worth hiring? Had a water birth last time which was great.Tore both times too stitches so painful.
Baby lying low here too its lying across so really worried he wont be turning around for birth. He seems comfortable there and hasnt moved from that position at all.Anyone got tips how to make him turn?Really worried I`ll have a c-section.
DD and DS lied in proper position but remeber dd kicking my ribs by this time and it was always uncomfortable no matter how I sat down.

Interessting how you think about routine and going with flow.It does depend on the child too and definitely with your second or more its harder to follow routine with school pick-ups and after school activities.Did read that book too and really hated it threw it away straight after but was desperate with dd to slepp by then.Reading attachment parenting book now and its really interessting think dd would have liked it.

Have been feeling dizzy and light headed some days think its the low blood pressure. been trying to keep hydrated but am bad in general with drinking enough.Sorry about me,me post just worrying at moment a bit.
Hope everyone had a good weekend.X

fidelma · 28/06/2009 21:01

Evening all
I hope you have all had a good weekend.Great sunshine bbqs parties etc.

We have had the most amazing weekend on the Isle of Skye.Sheer bliss.I felt totally relaxed (perhaps for the first time in years!!!)The food was out of this world. The best I have ever hadWe went for the tasting menu on Friday night 7 courses plus a few extra!!!!!!!!!!they were small but perfectly formed.I guess a bit like our babies. We got back to our babysitters Grandma and Aunt. They looked quite exhausted, but we gave them a glass of bubbley and they soon came round to thinking it was also a great weekend for them!
My little boy looked like he had growen up in the 2 days. It's amazing to see them with fresh eyes.(perhaps it was the trauma of us being away for 2 nights)

I do feel emormous.I feel like I should be due not just 25+6 weeks.I am sure this baby is going to be BIG

Apparantly we have more domestic staff now than we did in Victorian times.Cleaners, iorners, gardeners, nannies and aupairs. Please discuss.

Oh and Yes yes yes to tens machines (never experienced the big O while giving birth)However deffinetly the best 3 moments in my life.

fidelma · 28/06/2009 21:03

sorry I really can't spell. Can't you do a spell check on MN?

peachespaige · 29/06/2009 07:59

Morning all.
As ar as routines go, ds1 was bottle fed so ate every 4hours but ds2 bf so whenever really. Mine have both fallen asleep for their day time naps the same time every day, but not until a few months old. Ds2 still sleeps after lunch now!
Ive always tried to give them a bed time when they have reached a couple of months, helps us really.
What lovely weather we're having, meant to hit 30 today!
Isle of Skye sounds beautiful. Ill be hiring a Tens for sure.
I heard that too about domestic work. Apparently we slouch more which can cause babies to be breech, we dont clean floors on our knees anymore so so get down on all fours as this helps turn the baby.

princessmel · 29/06/2009 08:21

Hi everyone,

I have felt really worn out all weekend. Even though I haven't done much. My legs feel really achey and heavy all the time. I need to have them stretched out with my feet up as much a possible.

Went for a curry on friday night with friends, that was yummy but by the end I was desperate to take my bra off. Had a wired strapless bra on and it was digging in so much. Plus my legs ached..
Usually in the evenings I just wear a pj top, no bra and knickers!

Dh did some diy jobs yesterday and while he was cutting a bush in the garden , we spotted a wasps nest inside. Thats our 2nd nest this year. The other, bigger one is in the loft. He sprayed the garden one and needs to sort the loft one next.

fidelma Glad you had a lovely weekend, it sounds gorge! dh and I have never been away without the dc's. We kept meaning too but money stopped us. We have both been away with friends without each other, for stag/hen nights and I went to Barcelona with my twin sister, but not with dh! Poor thing

On the subject of hired help, I have noone!!

BellaCullen I had a tens with ds and I hated it. I couldn't stand it on anything other than the lowest setting, so it was useless really. Didn't bother with dd.
I am just going to wait and see, and if I have to be induced again ( was with ds as he was overdue and with dd as she had mecconium in water) I will be having an epidural asap.

With ds I had no gaps between contractions and no room on the delivery sweet for 10 hours. I was induced on the antenatel ward and then had to stay there untill a room was available. I had no pain relief as the gas and air was portable and ran out and the pethedine made me sick. I was hysterical, so by the time I was given a real room I demanded an epidural. They were reluctant as they guessed I was at 10cm but I was so out of control they gave me one. I wouldn't let them check me either, I was like a crazy lady! Anyway, due to the late epi I couldn't push and ds had forceps and ventouse and I'd had to be prepped for a c section , with a spinal incase he wouldn't come out.

With dd as soon as my waters broke at home, in bed in the night, we went in, all happy as I though 'no inducing!!' But they checked my pad and said the waters were 'green'. I was gutted! They said she'd done a poo and needed to come out. So I had an epidural BEFORE they induced me and then waited 4 hours, till I was 10cm , then had half a top up of the epidural and then pushed her out!! PERFECT.

I need a rest after all that typing! dc's have an inset day today...paddling pool I think.

smallone · 29/06/2009 09:48

Morning all!

I've been knackered all weekend too and I think bump has been quiet but is definitely bigger - growth spurt?

No staff for us here either! If there weren't so many labour saving devices/ men and women that do, maybe gyms wouldn't exist! Alot of exercise equipment was devised in victorian times.

I'm loving the rain after yesterday, I got breathless just walking from room to room in my house! Its supposed to be hot too tho, and I've warned DH that he may come home from work to find me sat in the paddling pool in the rain.

Can't remember who was asking about birth positioning but I think lying on your back with your bum raised on a couple of cushions, or kneeling with your bum in the air and your head on the floor. Not sure how effective it is at this stage tho. I've been reading alot about it coz dd was op back to back and am determined to get this one oa front to back.

Treats · 29/06/2009 15:18

Interesting to hear about experiences with TENS machines, everyone, thanks for that. think I'll definitely look into hiring one.

Have been lucky so far to be able to stay out of the heat - nice ac'd office here - so comiserations to anyone who's suffering. Quite pleased in a way as all the maternity stuff I've invested in is definitely summery. Having said that, I got a huge pile of maternity clothes from a friend at the weekend, which is definitely more autumnal - handy for the last few weeks.

Glad you had a good break fidelma - sounds like you needed it!

rubyslippers · 29/06/2009 20:08

Mossop · 30/06/2009 09:42

Hi Everyone,

I'm back from a lovely week away in South Wales. Went with family and amazingly we all got on really well, my mum wasn't annoying at all! We had lots of lovely sunny weather and dd loved the beach, so fun was had by all

As for tips on positions for getting baby into a good position, sitting back on a sofa encourages the baby to turn back to back. So try sitting astride a dining chair facing the chair back (if that makes sense) to turn baby front to back. I had such bad indigestion with my 1st pregnancy and sitting like this really helped, plus dd was in the right position for the birth. I also had skirting boards to paint and floors to clean (we don't have a mop or a cleaner!), so I guess that helped too.

We went to the spray park for the first time yesterday - dd loved it! Swimming today. Could do with popping out to buy a 1 tog grobag; we had a bad night last night as I thought it was too hot to put dd in her 2.5 tog grobag, so just gave her a sheet (which she didn't keep on) and she kept waking up. She was demanding dinner at 5:45am! Managed to get her back to sleep til 8am though. Phew!

Mossop · 30/06/2009 09:48

Ooh - forgot about the pelvic floors. Last pregnancy I did them on my daily motorway commute. I'm not working this time though, so haven't done them as much, so we definitely need a daily reminder!

So DO YOUR PELVIC FLOORS!

littlepea72 · 30/06/2009 12:02

Oh god its toooo hot here! What i wouldnt give for some rain!

We are moving house on Friday, so im busy packing up the house yet again, thats twice in 6 months, should be used to it by now. Cut the grass the other day, and nearly fell into bed for a week! LOL...

Havent been on for a while, so im well behind on things, will have to have a look back. Hope everyone is well!!!

LittleMissBliss · 30/06/2009 17:15

It's raining here and i'm actually quite glad! It means i don't have to water the lawn for a few days. Dp thinks i'm mad and thinks it's a waste of time watering the lawn but i can't stand walking on crispy grass with bare feet. So wouldn't expect ds to and he's ou there much more than me.

My bump is really strange, its flat at the front where my belly button is... its not like i had a wash board stomach before i fell pregnant... Last time it was all rounded, what shape are all your bumps?

Ds2 is wiggling loads in the there and pushed down the other day and felt a foot or limb of some sort, it sort of made me jump wasn't expecting to feel it so clearly!

The TENS didn't do anything for me just felt annoying and itchy , I was induced also and it was horrible. If i'm induced again will definitely be asking for stronger pain relief than gas and air.
Glad you and the family enjoyed your week away mossop!

rubyslippers · 30/06/2009 19:41

missbliss - rain?! i am jealous

littlepea - good luck with the move - hope it all goes smoothly

mossop - thank you for the reminder to do pelvic floor exercises

bella - i need to get a sling. Not sure either ... may search MN archives

my bump is all at the bottom if that makes sense - pretty low. quite a lot of movement at the moment

really struggling in the heat ... am so swollen

hope everyone is doing ok and keeping as cool as poss

xx

twinklegreen · 01/07/2009 07:40

It's not been too bad here, it's quite hot but still managable, I'm off back home to Whitby this weekend so should be a nice cool breeze off the sea.

littlemissbliss I feel like my bumps a bit flat at the front too, I'm hoping that it's bot because baby is back to back, will find out on Tues at my 28wk appointment.

bella, rubyslippers I product test for the practical parenting awards and last year tested "thiswww.lifftslings.com/site/content_home.php sling, I can really recommend it, I'm going to be using it this time too, it's easy to use and requires not clips or ties.

twinklegreen · 01/07/2009 07:42

Hmmm, haven't done the link properly, try again... this sling

Sugarkane · 01/07/2009 07:45

Hi ladies, really pleased im not the only one feeling huge atm, although I must say this hasnt been helped by my totally tactless dad who informed me just after id explained how big I feel that my sister who is due a week after me is still in her size 6 jeans and hardly showing .

Sorry ive not posted for ages been little up and down and hard for me to keep track recently. Had a lovely holiday just after my last post, but since being home have been diagnosed with raynaud's disease of nipple, sciatica, spd, and my bloody wisdom tooth has started playing up again, dentist wont touch me till after baby born and stopped breastfeeding, remind me why I thought pg was a good idea so soon after my DD??

Id love a little rain right now but no such luck, hope you made the most of it LittleMissBliss.

Would also love sling advice aswell if anyone has any, first off I like the look of the Hug-a-bub but being a little larger than average im worried that it may not fit, secondly how comfy is it as my spd seems to last a while after birth and really would need a comfy sling. If anyone can help please do.

Hope you all have a great day, will try to be more active on this tread and please all remember to do your PELVIC FLOORS today.
