looby- is M bringing up her wind OK? I know S struggles after a long feed with wind and/or hiccups- have you tried settling her in a more upright position - that can sometimes help, rather than lying her down flat. Sounds really bad for you both- so difficult to know what to suggest. Hope you figure out what works for her soon and that the colief helps.

LoobyLou36 · 26/05/2009 20:59

she does struggle to bring her wind after feeds pula belgian i took matilda to the doc on friday and all she suggested was giving her some calpol at night to settle her (doc then looked at my wound and prescribed 3rd lot of antibiotics )
talked to hv when she came today, she suggested the colief - just hope it works

LoobyLou36 · 26/05/2009 21:00

belgian forgot to say - poo was like bf poo (chicken korma) but just a large amount

Belgianchocolates · 26/05/2009 21:10

Good to hear looby If it was rabbit pellets, C would be constipated. BF babies can go for days without a poo, because BM is so perfectly designed there's hardly any solid waste. As M is having formula I'd have thought she would go a bit more often though. As for the colic. Drs only ever suggest Infacol, I think. A lot of people do find alternative remidies helpful, so is she's really bad it might be worth having a look yourself. Learning baby massage is useful. It wont cure her, but might help make M feel a bit better, relax and calm down when she's got tummy ache. Our local children's centre runs classes, so it might be worth having a look to see what's available locally with you.

Momino · 26/05/2009 21:13

looby, hope M is better soon. i've had colicky babies and tried infacol, cran osteopathy, etc. The only thing that helped in the end was (unfortunately) waiting it out until they got over it, about 9-12 weeks. recently, someone mentioned gripe water but i've not tried that one. hopefully, you'll find something that works for M.

well, i've finally sat down with a large glass of wine, bag of crisps and Britain's got Talent. DH is home late tonight so I had to do the bath/hairwash, bedtime etc AND tidy up the kitchen, rubbish etc - the latter stuff DH does that i take for granted (well not really, i do appreciate him).

it's only a week since DH has gone back to work and feeding time (i make them sound like cattle)is loud. usually one of the toddlers is yelling or whingeing... I'm in the middle of BF Harper then have to put her in the bouncy chair so i can get 2nd helpings, bowl of food thrown on the floor, a banana, whatever, ... poor H starts to cry and I have to leave her. meanwhile, border collie is barking like mad at all the dogs walking by the house. i've found the only way to deal with this is to just let the noise go over my head. One of them is bound to cry, right? i can't keep 3 happy all at once can i ?

ReeBee · 26/05/2009 22:15

Just a quick message to say Rosie, good luck for tomorrow - will be thinking of you.

Also, I can see the exciting FB status news but can't find the MN name on the list - could someone send me a message please? ta.

pulapula · 26/05/2009 22:21

ReeBee- i've sent you a FB message

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 26/05/2009 22:25

reebee Have messaged you on FB

So sorry to here M is colicky Looby, it's awful. Sending sympathy your way. You've had a rough time of it, I hope your scar heals and M gets better soon.

Momino You must be knackered! I must admit, I'm not looking forward to meal and bathtimes and mine are waaaaaay older than your girls so I'll have it easy

Belgian How is the pelvis?

Evening all!!!!

frazzledoldbag · 26/05/2009 22:59

Helllllo pregnant ladies - hope you're all bearing up, especially grumpy.
I haven't had to do a meal time for all 3 yet on my own as DH has been here but now he's back to work the tea, homework, bath, bed thing is looming and filling me with dread........but as mom sensibly says at least one of them is bound to cry I guess.
H is being a little star so far although does seem to be a bit sore from wind after a feed. Otherwise a little angel most of the time and pulls some quite comical faces. Can't believe that he's almost a week old now - time really flies by.
Who, who, who has had the baby? Someone tell me please......
rosie fingers crossed for tomorrow, just think you'll soon have a teeny weeny baby to cuddle
Right better go wake up H to feed then hopefully get a few hours sleep. I should have been napping while he has been asleep this evenig but instead I've nipped to Sainsbos, cleaned out the hamster and tidied up, cleaned the kitchen....so much for taking it easy. Oh well night night all. Hope there will be some more babies tomorrow x x

Momino · 27/05/2009 07:00

morning all. i have a proposition: could i switch with one of you today/tomorrow so i could get some nesting instincts back? older DDs at nursery so you just have to cuddle a 3 wk old .

all the cleaning i did when pregnant has all been forgotten and the skirting boards, bathrooms now show no signs of ever being cleaned. and i've no time to keep up with the cleaning, dusting, dishes, laundry, ironing, etc.

anyone nesting at the moment?

actually, hope you're resting. have to get up soon to get ready for nursery run. take care.

ReeBee · 27/05/2009 08:30

thanks Pula and Grumpy for the FB messages - how exciting!

Right, am off to hosp in 30 mins to talk induction - still not made up my mind but will take my bag just in case.... Having said that, will probably be back on here with no progress again tonight!

runningmonkey · 27/05/2009 08:41

Morning folks,

Rosie probably missed you but good luck for today will be thinking of you!

Momino I would gladly swap if it meant I could get some sleep but I suspect not! Ignore the cleaning, you have more important things to do like look at your beautiful little girl.

Frazz meant to say, I saw your pics of H on FB yesterday, so cute and can I just point out that you look so very glam too, a real case of not living up to your MN name!

Loobs hope you and M are ok today.

Was thinking about Jael earlier, has anyone heard from her? Its just I was remembering she had had such a tough time was hoping she was doing ok. Wondered if she had popped up on the PN thread? [runningm wanders off for a nosy]

My lo was wriggling for Britain last night was VERY uncomfortable in the nether regions. On the plus side tho I do think I've had a bit of a show (why oh why do I always want to do jazz hands when someone says that?) although I know that doesn't nec mean anything. Ah well, MW coming to see me tomorrow so am practising my best 'I am soooooooo uncomfortable' whine and sad face so she gives me a sweep a bit early.

Anyway, must go mop the floor, DH has managed to leave muddy footprints everywhere while loading some stuff into the car .

runningmonkey · 27/05/2009 08:42

Ooh Reebee missed your message, good luck at the hospital.

LoobyLou36 · 27/05/2009 09:14

morning all..

Matilda seemed a bit more settled last night after 2 doses of colief and she did a humungus poo last night (DH got that one ) funny green colour tho. Poo that is not M.

have been googling baby massage but can't find any courses locally might try and find a book on it perhaps

good luck reebee and rosie

frazzledoldbag · 27/05/2009 09:29

ooh yes good luck reebee running - thanks! Because my labour this time was so fast and easy (iyswim) I still had my makeup on! LOL at the jazz hands. Definitely whinge to the m/w - mine did my first sweep at 39+3 days because I was such a grumpy moaner. (although please note it gave me a night of 'false' labour and no sleep and it took till 40+4 and 3 more sweeps before lo shifted. I reckon sweeps have no effect until you're ready anyway. Anyway good luck x

looby sorry things are tricky for you just now. Things do get better with time - not much help at the moment tho.....have you thought of trying cranial osteopathy? I've heard it can be great at helping some colicky babies?

grumpy - do you like hot and sour chinese soup? I had a craving for it the night before H was born and ate a huge bowl of it with loads of chillis in. Delicious and 12 hours later i had ababy............just a thought.......

Also silverettes those strange silver nipple cups I was talking about REALLY DO WORK AT HEALING SORE NIPS. Mine were looking a bit chewed the other night as I'd been lazy getting H latched on - had broken peeling skin and quite sore. Wore the silverettes over night with some b/milk expressed inside them and in the morning they were healed. Would absolutely recommend if anyone sore or cracked. Quicker than Lansinoh too.

LoobyLou36 · 27/05/2009 09:33

MIL coming round at 11 so had better get showered and dresses I guess, M due a feed soon. I've looking after my stepdaughter all this week to so have managed to get her dressed and got her breakfast, she must be quite bored tho as I can't drive still and my wound is still infected so walking far is out of the question. Her dad took her swimming last night and we walked round to some friends of mine yesterday to get out of the house for a couple of hours.

MIL going to take us to see DH nan today so M can meet her great granny who's 97.

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 27/05/2009 10:07

frazz I love hot & sour soup and have made my own version a couple of times the past couple of weeks. Might have to have some today......And I thought you looked unreasonably glamorous and dewy on the photos too . It's really not fair to put so much pressure on the rest of us you know.

runningmonkey I'm with you on the jazz hands, makes me giggle every time. And I need all the giggles I can get (whinge, whine, moan etc).

Looby I hope M is better today, how fabulous that she's going to meet her great granny mine have their 88 year old great-granddad, who is beside himself with excitement at the prospect of another great-grandchild, as is his older sister their great, great aunt I think. I feel privileged to have such venerable relatives .

Momino DH is on his way to York to collect my girls, I'll tell him to swing by and clean your house - he's an absolute whizz at speed-cleaning (Naval training), and claims to enjoy it. He's a strange one. I have missed the girls terribly but now am filled with dread at their return. The noise, the mess, the strops, the arguments. I'm never happy!

I hope things go well for reebee today......

sophietom · 27/05/2009 11:18

good luck reebee and rosie

have just been to midwife app- she was unable to do sweep due to my cervix being posterior and closed it seems baby is very happy where he is and has no intention of making a move anytime soon.
And we will have both set of grandparents-to-be staying nearby this weekend in the hope they will get to meet their new grandson, looks like they may well be disappointed and tbh i'm not looking forward to having to entertain visitors. Although am hoping to persuade my mum and dad (who are already here camped out in their caravan at a nearby campsite!!) to take me out somewhere this afternoon as am feeling completely cheesed off

Belgianchocolates · 27/05/2009 11:52

Morning everyone,

How is everyone this AM? All of you still waiting for lo to arrive, how are you bearing up. Any more signs? If not, chin up, no one's pregnant for ever, even though it might seem like it

sophietom It's not because your cx is unfavourable today, it will still be like that over the weekend. Who knows you might go into labour when everyone is here to meet lo

grumpy My pelvis is much better. I can finally turn over in bed since about mid last week. It's slightly uncomfortable, but I can move . First thing in the morning I'm stiff, but after an inflammatory and a warm shower I'm OK. I can still feel my symphysis pubis, but it's not painful IYKWIM. I saw the osteo last week too, who picked up that I've got 1 leg that's a touch longer than the other and a minor degree of scholeosis and together this makes my pelvis tilt a little. If you add pregnancy hormones and the strain of carrying around a baby I suppose it would have caused pain as severe as it was. Because C is so heavy, I find that I can only carry her around in a sling for a limited time, but usually long enough to settle her if she's being unsettled. She's 10lbs 2oz now, btw.

frazzled interesting to hear about those silverettes working so well. I'll keep that in mind if I ever meet someone else with cracked nipples

looby Good to hear that the colief seems to be working for M. Hopefully she'll settle a bit more for you.

housework I manage to do most 'basic' things, in the morning, because C tends to be good in the morning and sleep from about 9-12 in her pram. After that she's really difficult. So I usually do laundry, tidying and a tiny bit of cleaning in that gap.

meal times I suppose I'm lucky enough to have 2 older dcs and no dogs, so our meal times tend to be OK. If there's someone crying it's C, so most of the time I do eat holding her. Other than that the other 2 are independent enough to just get on with feeding themselves without me.

Hmm, just heard some ominous sounds coming from C's bottom end. I think she'll wake in a min to complain about a dirty bottom

daizydoo · 27/05/2009 12:55

Good luck to those having babies v soon and congrats to those who've had them since I last posted. Have been reading, but have a memory like a sieve so sorry for not name checking! Also typing one handed - so v slow

Also sending labour vibes to those who are over due or nearly there!! I'm intrigued who the mystery facebooker is!!

I'm at home alone today with both ds's. All going well seen as Dora the Explorer has been babysitting ds1 and ds2 has slept. I've even managed to bake dh a birthday cake!!

frazzledoldbag · 27/05/2009 12:57

belgian - do recommend those Silverettes - I think they are fab.
also belgian and looby - I could well be talking out of my arse on this one, but I seem to remember that green poo can be a sign of lactose intolerance in a baby? I could well be wrong and belg will be able to advise but my friends little girl was very colicky and unsettled, vomity, and had green poo. Turned out to be lactose intolerant, was put onto that special lactose free formula milk that is prescribed and got much better. Just a thought.

My milk monster is almost 1 wk old now - can't believe how time has flown. This time last week I was in the car unable to sit down and contracting like mad and was 1.5 hours away from meeting my little man. Now he's here he's slotted into the family so well I feel like he's always been with us....[sob].
[soppy frazzled emoticon]

Lovely labour vibes to you all........
Come on grumpy - get making some soup.
x

frazzledoldbag · 27/05/2009 13:00

OH and grumpy if it's any consolation I wouldn't have put pics of myself up on FB after my last labour with DD2 - I was so pale and bloated I looked like a dead person. There's a lot to be said for a 4 hour labour and no drugs I reckon! (last time I had 'the works').
Anyway better get off my bum and do something useful. LIke change a korma nappy. Byeeeeeeeeeee

daizydoo · 27/05/2009 13:12

Frazz I had a 4hr labour with no drugs, but didnt look as fresh and glam as you !! (admittedly it was the middle of the night!!!)

alapala · 27/05/2009 13:27

Well just been to the doctor AGAIN and wishing he had smaller hands because he had such a poke this morning - actually he is quite tiny so maybe his hands are small...
Anyway he reckons cervix is 1cm and he shoved a finger in there which was a bit like S and S, so I guess that is some progress. However the scan showed a decrease in amniotic fluid so he said to bring my bag on Friday because he will prob induce me..

Have mixed feelings as all else is well, but then again can't face another epic labour, and my mum goes on Monday so would be good to have it on Friday. Things just a bit different in spain. Or things will start beafore then, which would be good as my ribs so sore that breathing now hurt, not to mention sneezing .

pulapula · 27/05/2009 14:12

runningmonkey- i saw on FB yesterday (and forgot to let people know) that Jael has just got out of hospital again. Don't know if it was related to her infected cs wound, or her other health problems (severe migranes). She's had a really hard time lately.
