daffodilli · 26/05/2009 20:41

Glad its not just me pebblebeach, thank you! I did not really think about them,as you said, only one day I happended to have my hand on bump at the time and it went hard!! I was a bit ! Such a strange feeling though,in 2 minds about it if I'm honest...Bubs is a wriggler though and I'm sure sometimes (especially if I've had a coffee ) he seems to be on a spin cycle!! Poor thing!

peachygirl · 26/05/2009 20:43

I've had braxton hicks they have freaked me out as I didn't have any with DD.

Don't worry about long 'me posts' that what the threads are for.

I still feel flabby as opposed to bumpy.

TrixieVix · 26/05/2009 20:44

Thank godness others are getting BH too....never had them with DS and have been getting quite freaked out with it tbh. It really can be uncomfortable can't it - panic a lot less generally with this pg, but did manage to get a little worried about these 'unexplained' tightenings.

Another one experiencing "huge bump" comments, and have to agree, it's mainly men who comment! Am feeling really fat, tight and waddly at the moment, and if one more person says "are you sure there's only one in there?" I might have to belt them in face with a wet fish Why oh why can't people stick with "you're looking well" or "you're blooming" comments...don't care if they're being dishonest, just what I want to hear right now not a lot to ask is it?!

Anyway, hope everyone's well

AprilMeadow · 26/05/2009 20:51

Getting lots of BH this time round that seem to be quite painful and last a fair while. Doesnt help that bubs is a wriggler and squirms for long period of time normally just as i am falling asleep.

daffodilli · 26/05/2009 21:07

LOL at wet fish - maybe I'll start a virtual fishmongers and whenever anyone has a comment that makes them go grrr, they can come online and stock up..!!

LizLemon · 26/05/2009 21:59

Also got a wriggler, April, and since I've got an anterior placenta it always seems to be low down. Fond of tapdancing across my bladder, this little one...

I wouldn't worry too much about the caffeine daffodilli. I didn't bother giving it up at all, just cut down to under the recommended dosage, although in the first trimester I did go off coffee entirely, which is I suppose when the effect can be strongest. Besides chocolate has caffeine in it and I'm not giving that up (apparently you get a smiley baby if you eat chocolate, which is reason enough for me).

Minshu · 26/05/2009 22:11

I'm so pleased that going off chocolate was just a first trimester phase, after reading this, Lizlemon. Would hate to not have a smiley baby!!

Nobody has said anything about my size all day, so not had to find any wet fish, but will keep one handy at all times from now on.

My caffeine consumption has increased - up from two to three or four mugs of strong tea now. But, the thing that I really like (and I promise this is not an advert) is Wells Bombardier. I was pouring some for DP a few weeks ago and couldn't resist a small glass (less than 100 ml) for myself. Had nearly half a pint of it one night last week. I do normally like beer, but that has become totally irresistible.

No BH here yet, but getting more and more movement.

ladylush · 26/05/2009 22:20

Oh yes Minshu - I now really enjoy wine again Only allow myself 1-2 glasses a week but Boy are they good

LizLemon · 26/05/2009 22:57

For me it's lager - a couple of small glasses max a week. For some reason the taste is fabulous (normally I'm a wine drinker).

audreyraines · 27/05/2009 08:14

am stillon the caffeine this time round. 1 espresso a day. am not giving it up with a toddler in tow!

BabyLady · 27/05/2009 09:30

Hi all, glad to hear that everyone is progressing ok, other than the BH contractions.

I had a couple of sips of a glass of wine the other day and honestly I felt like I had 3 glasses. My arms and legs went all floppy. I am going to be the cheapest drunk out once the pregnancy and feeding is done.

Brought a few more things for the baby in the weekend, a grobag egg (room themometer) and some grobag shaped swaddling wraps. I feel like we are incredibly organised and I am trying to slow down so I have a few things to do once I finish work.

I am getting increasingly tired by the end of the day. Once work is finished I dread dragging myself all the way from Canary Wharf to Chiswick on the tube. Anyone else knackered by the end of the day?

blue76 · 27/05/2009 10:15

Babylady - I was shattered at the end of the day, until the pregagday kicked in. Feel pretty fab now.

Minshu - what do men know about the size of bumps anyway? Do they not have a reputation for getting the size of 'things' wrong? There's that old classic - why are women crap at parking?...Because men tell us this [holds thumb and forefinger 2 inches apart] is 6 inches...
I went big quickly with both DDs and then slowed down at around 30 weeks. Have a look at my profile pics - my bump is on there if you want to compare. I'm 23+3 now and lovin the bump!

I'm having the old BH but sometimes I think she's just shifting herself. Feels like she's curling herslf into a tight ball. Bless her. Frequent hiccups too. Some say the more BH you have, the easier the birth. Would love to know how people come to these conclusions. I, on the other hand, would much prefer to be like a chicken and just lay a little egg.

We went camping Sun-Tues. Fantastic weather! Highlight had to be DP and DD2 being chased across a field by a herd of cows. So wish I'd filmed it. Ashamed to say my pelvic floor must be shot to pieces - I wet myself laughing.

Hi all!

Since 12 weeks I have been drinking tea- limit myself to two cups a day and have been having a glass of wine or two a week. I was never a massive drinker though so its not every week I'm having it, only if we are out or have people over etc.

I have been having a lot of pain which is a bit worrying. I'm not sure if its BH as it doesn't feel like tightenings but its quite severe cramping that comes and goes. I saw the MW this morning and she has said if it continues to go straight up to the MAU because of the low lying placenta. It also seems I have a urine infection and thrush and she said sometimes infections can irritate the uterus and cause contractions and poss per term labour?! Bit frightening but will have results soon and hopefully treatment so I am trying to to think about it. Cramps stop me in my tracks though, plus sore bits from infection and thrush, so feeling a bit sorry for myself at the moment. Completely exhausted all the time too! Ds is being a little whinger after a weekend with the ils getting his own way all the time and the washing machine has died. Gah. Sorry rant over.

bigbang · 27/05/2009 11:13

How did that happen?! Sorry

pebblebeach · 27/05/2009 11:46

Defintiely not given up cafeine here - I don't think I function without a large mug of tea in the morning.

The camping trip sounds fun, LOL at the cows, Blue - I am sure my pelvic floor is in a similar state, I have to seriously concentrate on it at certain times, really must work out how to remember, and actually do, the exercises....

And sorry you're having a bad time bigbang - I hope you get the test results quickly and get the right treatment, and definitly get yourself up to the MAU if the pains continue, at the very least you'll get to have a 30min lie down while they monitor bp, hb, etc , hope you feel better soon.

ladylush · 27/05/2009 11:56

Blue - my pelvic floor is crap too. I have to stand still when I cough or sneeze otherwise it's tricky It seems to be mainly in pregnancy that it gets like this. I feel that my bladder is constantly irritated - a bit like the beginning of cystitis but doesn't develop into a UTI. Think maybe it's the baby's head (baby is cephalic I think). Glad you enjoyed the camping. A good laugh is a tonic don't you think Have to confess to being a bit scared of cows. They stare in a way that seems quite sinister.

Bigbang - hope you feel better soon. Will you need to take anti-biotics? If the UTI is causing the cramps, hopefully they will stop when the infection has gone. Thrush is miserable. I get it quite a bit normally but have managed to escape it in this pregnancy. I think you can use canesten combi safely in pregnancy but not the oral remedy.

I haven't had any BH - didn't with ds either. Getting ligament pain though and still sore down there especially after sex and when opening my bowels (v constipated). It's not all the time but gets me down a bit when it happens. Sorry if tmi

LJ29 · 27/05/2009 13:38

Hi all, haven't posted for a whle but have been lurking.

I haven't given a thing up!! I'm still eating runny eggs (as long as they are lion stamped) and couldn't live without my cup of tea. My midwife practically encouraged me to drink 2-3 units of alcohol a week so it would be rude to ignore the advice! I have actually developed a taste for lager shandy so its not too bad as watered down with lemonade.

I had a MW appointment this morning and everything was fine. She says I have to be more ladylike and sit with my legs firmly together to avoid the pain in my pubic bone!!! She also gave me my health in pregnancy grant form to claim the £190 we all get now so will be putting that towards a new cot and crib mattress and a few other essentials.

I've not really had any BH yet but do remember from last time that being dehydrated can make them come more frequently so make sure you drink plenty and if possible avoid caffeine in large quantitites as it irritates the uterus.

Thats my pearls of wisdom passed on for the day so must get on with some work now!

Neddie · 28/05/2009 08:30

bigbang don't worry- I read another thread somewhere and the lady had an UTI which caused the cramps it wasn't anything sinister and was totally treatable.

I have drunk some Pear cider recently but the iron in it is good for you so I don't feel too guilty.
Had my 24 weeks scan yesterday. My babies are Ying and Yang style at the moment. With boy head up and bum down and girl head down and bum up (they were both head down). So I can have one kicking ribs while other kicks my bladder (no wonder I can't sleep!).
All tests were completely normal and BP is now 100/60 so I'm not as faint anymore.
I hope I continue be like this for the next haul though I somehow doubt it.

mumtobe23 · 28/05/2009 16:18

Hi ladies God i am SOOOOOOO bloody bored today! Work here has been thin on the ground for a few weeks so most of my day is spent sitting staring at a computer screen with limited internet access & nothing to do. My boss is on sick leave for two weeks so theres no one around to send us home early. If i wasn't going on Mat leave at the beginning of Aug & the "job" climate being the way it is i'd be looking for a new one so im really trying hard not to moan about it!

Anyway how is everyone? Have been lurking but not posting for a while. Im getting bored of waiting around now, my due date seems so near yet so far, i want my baby now!!!

(Just read the post back, i think im having one of my moody hormonal days again!)

Gonnabamumma · 29/05/2009 15:02

Hi Ladies I am so BORED of work! I have been in paris all week supporting a conference, dealing with the most ungrateful, demanding, miserable people known to mankind and I want to tell them all to beep off! Have worked 87 hours over the last 6 days and am just over it!

Feel so much better now I have that off my chest. My bump has really grown in the last week or so - I am telling myself that it is not pastries, but I suspect it may be a little bit pastry related. Only 15 weeks 5 days to go - yay!
GBAM

nitnat84 · 29/05/2009 18:07

15 weeks and 2 days to go! I love the countdown. I am so hot today and my feet and fingers are beginning to swell up!
Gonnabamumma- I feel like my bump has doubled in size this week as well. Maybe I am eating too much though- lol. Oh well!
Hope everyone is enjoying the weather and hope you all have a fab weekend

audreyraines · 29/05/2009 19:28

gorgeous day, just ate cake in the park. i also feel like i'm doubling in size every other day - it's quite shocking actually! bought some new clothes today though for the warmer weather, so feeling nice and bump-glamourous.
