Thought I'd start a new thread as there were only 3 posts left!

Thusnelda · 15/05/2009 13:38

Another longish femur here: 37.5mm at 21+4, but the head was below average - I'm not complaining!

I'm still trying to get my head around having a girl. I think I was kind of expecting a boy after all, and most of my friends certainly did - I was told by at least 4 people that they thought I'd be having a boy.
We're still totally lost for girls' names, but thankfully, Siglinde doesn't seem to be catching his fancy (yet), Peachygirl!

BabyLady · 15/05/2009 13:45

Pebble - that certainly isn't much weight to gain for a pregnancy so I can see why you lost it so quickly. I am estimating that I might be to 11-12kgs up by the end, which is apparently still in the "normal" range but it feels like a lot. Someone told me that the weight gain tends to slow as you get toward the end of your third trimester - here's hoping!!

LizLemon · 15/05/2009 13:53

oh yes! I got a horrible stitch yesterday, that seemed to spread into my groin, so I was Limpy McLimpy.

I've also put on 6kg (one whole stone) but have done the sums - 2nd trimester is an average of 1lb a week, and 1st trimester anything from 0-4lbs total (I decided to go for the full four ) So it's about normal for now. I might have put on less if I'd been less lazy but I've been so knackered lately (spatone seems to be making a difference to that so I'll have no excuse)

I'm going to throw Siglinde onto our pile of possibles I think

blue76 · 15/05/2009 16:17

Ladylush - everyone said they thought I was having a boy [I even thought so myself]. I kept looking at clothes and thinking how much nicer girls stuff is...Jeez they're long legs! I put wrong head circ in - it was meant to say 190mm.

Scales?? What are scales?? I haven't been near any, preferring to go by how my clothes feel. Still buying size 10 maternity stuff so that's an improvement on previous pg's.

Re losing weight afterwards - I think it depends very much on your lifestyle. I wasn't working when I had dd's and would sit breastfeeding and eating all day. Also, this 'when the baby sleeps, you sleep' lark...I took great heed - resulting in not getting much exercise at all. Breastfeeding definitely makes you feel hungrier than you've ever felt in your life.
That said, I loved every minute of it.

I was the same with bf - ate like an absolute horse the whole time, and didn't go back to work for 11 months - altho I did walk my dog every day so I would have expected to loose more than I did - I lost 1.5 stone but I had put 3 on in total whilst pg so I'm up a dress size or 2 from before I was pg. This time I lost a stone with ms so I'm now back up to the weight I was when I got pg with this one so I guess thats not too bad.

Pebble- I get the stitch thing a lot - the slightest increase in pace and I'm struggling! Thank fully my dd is only just walking so we go pretty slow!

Well - I'm off to get ready - I'm taking dp to see angels and demons tonight for his birthday - altho I fear i may be snoring away half way through!!

Neddie · 15/05/2009 17:14

Thanks for the stats thread I have put I'm having 1 of each on there but still not convinced. I have put so much weight on it's untrue but I always lose it even if it takes a while- it's going from 4 hours exercise a day to couch potato in one fell swoop that does it.
My legs are swelling a bit now as well and have just taken a Rennie for the acid which has been quiet for a few weeks. I am attempting to put baby and foal pics on.

Snowfalls108 · 15/05/2009 17:45

Thanks for the tips.

Pebble - I've had the stitch thing too. I asked my consultant about it and she said it was my pelvis adjusting and it would get better. At the moment I get it if I walk anything over a couple of minutes.

pebblebeach · 15/05/2009 18:26

Thanks for all the stitch replies - glad I'm not the only one and nice to know what it is snowfalls!

ladylush · 15/05/2009 18:30

Thusnelda, Blue and I will have to join the long femur club Tbh I'm only making so much of it because I didn't find out the sex and it gives me something to talk about. Sad eh

Re. weight and bfeeding. I agree. I didn't lose weight until I stopped. I wouldn't say I was eating much more - I just seemed to be bloated a lot. I have to say, I didn't enjoy bf - ds was a fidgety feeder and I had to feed him A LOT. I did it because I thought it was best for him. Hope it goes better this time.

ladylush · 15/05/2009 19:03

Liz - do you live in Dulwich? We lived there for 5 years. Enjoyed it but we wanted to buy a house so obviously we had to move. It was that or pay £100k more for a house the same size as our flat.

Minshu · 15/05/2009 20:09

Evening! I'll join the stitch club, although I think mine is a bit higher - on my right hand side down my ribs, front or back. Been with me pretty much all week. And feeling bloaty and windy. There - you wanted to know that, didn't you!!

I've put on about 6 kg so far, and am finding it difficult to imagine how much bigger I'll get. Feel big now, but some people at work are only just realising that I'm pregnant at all.

Which reminds me of when a friend at work was beginning to show a few years ago - a colleague of ours said something like, "If I didn't know you were pregnant, I'd think you were just fat!". She meant no malice at all, but just didn't think before opening her mouth. She was mortified when she realised how it sounded. Still makes me laugh today.

blue76 · 15/05/2009 21:03

Don't mean to cause shock or owt but I had stitch-like pain in groin with dd2 which progressed into spd. Just take it easy. Not dangerous but very painful [and embarrassing when the need to clutch fanjita area was overwhelming]. Support belts help.

peachygirl · 15/05/2009 21:47

I've had some bad twinges recently , Not sure if it's stich. Thinks it may be constipation linked

Congrats on the scans.
I would second the NCT sale advice, I often volunteer at ours. Get there early and have a clear idea of what you want to get, your first one can be very overwhelming.

daffodilli · 15/05/2009 22:12

Just checking in to new thread! Been really busy in work this week and seem to be too tired to do anything!

Lovely scan news for everyone, will have to see how many boys and girls are expected so far!
Glad everyones doing ok, heartburn,cramps,tiredness.... etc etc exepted !

Had an appointment with a urologist today about my kidneys and he says I have to have a growth scan at 28 weeks as sometimes women who have/have had kidney problems can have smaller babies. At 19+5 bubs was measuring head circ = 182mm and femur length 32mm.

Really need bed now! will catch up properly tomorrow!

Minshu · 15/05/2009 22:51

Just checked my scans - at 19 weeks exactly, femur length 30.1 mm and head circ 162.2 mm. Have just found some stats here.

Daffodilli - your numbers don't look small, going by those stats.

Had a long week, too - looking forward to my bed.

FairySparkles · 16/05/2009 11:20

ooooo -I'm intrigued! Never gave head circ and femur lenght a thought! I take it we find these details in our notes?? Just checked mine now: says hc 173 and fl 34 - I've also got bpd 47 and tcd 20- anyone know what do they mean????

LizLemon · 16/05/2009 11:21

Thanks for the heads up on the spd Blue - I'll keep a watchful eye on it

ladylush - yes, E. Dulwich. Know what you mean about houses, but unfortunately the flat we're in is the size of a house (including stairs!) and we bought it long enough ago that we can manage it on DH's salary alone, so it seems crazy to try and move to get a garden, even though next summer I'm sure I'll long for one.

time to sharpen elbows and go to the NCT sale...

FairySparkles · 16/05/2009 11:25

(oh yeah - scan was at 20+3)

audreyraines · 16/05/2009 11:26

here are my numbers for what it's worth. similar to daffodilli and minshu
at 19+6:

head circ 173mm
Femur length 30mm

sent the boys out to museum today, going to try to sort out some space in our room for a baby - eek!

ladylush · 16/05/2009 12:48

Liz - we lived in ED too. Underhill Road opp the cemetary. It was a first floor maisonette with a garden accessed from the side. We moved when ds was 2 yrs old. I used to take him to baby massage in Snapdragon (childrens shop in Lordship Lane) - would recommend it if it's still there. The blue mountain cafe is very child friendly isn't it - we used to go for a breakfast there at the weekend. Ah..........memories

SPD - horrible. I've been getting twinges lately. I think I'm going to get it again

ladylush · 16/05/2009 12:50

Fairy I think BPD is the Biparietal Diameter (head measurement)Not sure about the other one but will check my notes.

Snowfalls108 · 16/05/2009 13:46

Off to the NCT sale for us. As members we get in 15 minutes early! Wish us luck!!

Snowfalls108 · 16/05/2009 16:19

Success.
Purchased a Baby Bjorn, down to just £20. And lots of baby grows, hats etc, all for approx 20p each.

ladylush · 16/05/2009 16:54

Good result Snowfalls

TrixieVix · 16/05/2009 18:46

Hi all - pleased to hear of all the good scan results! Congrats to all that know too - am slightly envious...still only 4 months (yesterday) until we find out

Have entered into full blown buying mode and nothing can stop me!! I was planning on using DS's Buzz, but have just purchased a Mamas and Papas Ultima...not quite sure what came over me?! It may have something to do with seeing SIL yesterday who has an Ultima on the x-cel chassis...I've never considered an 'old-fashioned' pram as I thought they'd be murder to push, but seemed really easy to handle and steer. Have bought it in the grey Polka...I love it, however DH thinks it's a little 'girlie' if Bump turns out to be a boy...what do you think? I like it either way!

Pleased you've got on well at the NCT sale - we don't have one near us until July, and have never been to one before...do you have to be a member, and would you recommend becomming a member anyway?

Hope everyone's feeling well. I don't feel too bad at all, but am sooooo tired all the time. I guess when I was pg last time, I was able to take naps whenever I felt like it (after work of course!!) but have got DS to entertain this time. Still, think running around after DS is stopping me from putting on huge amounts of weight on this time (so far, touch wood!!) cause I put on 4 stone+ with DS...hmm, guess I've still got 4 months for that to change

Manky weather here today, and to top it off, we had a first birthday to go to today (my god-daughter) but didn't make it as the car battery died. Not having much luck - I had a puncture on the way to work yesterday morning (in the pouring rain)! Still, it's the weekend and I can go to be at 8pm if I feel like it
