Im absolutely Gobsmacked at that ladylush!!

I work in a special school and we do have to deal with very difficult behaviour at times but we have had several pregnancies recently and everyone had worked up til 36 weeks at least.

I have good support from senior management and from colleagues. Two wouldn't let me carry a table with them today. It wasn't even a big one!!

One girl managed to wait it out to get the 9 months mat leave which started in april 09. She finished on the friday and went into labour on the sunday!!

I think I am lucky to have the holiday. I can get everything sorted during that time - everything out of the attic and washed etc and go back for those few days (hopefully if DD will allow it) feeling refreshed.

Blue- Essex LEA
Peachygirl- haha about the table! I get told off if I move a chair or pic up books. Nice how everyone cares though!
Cant wait to use the hols to sort everything out. Plus we are supposed to have a really hot summer so will be nice to be at home rather than a hot, stuffy classroom.
Have to put nursery decorating on hold this half term as my cat is due to have kittens anyday and we have put a box in the 'nursery' room for her.

LizLemon · 21/05/2009 06:10

So we finally had our scan yesterday - all is well and it's a boy! I was almost convinced I was having a girl so I'm glad I found out now, before I get too attached to the cute clothes Anyway, there was no mistaking it, as it was just the same as my friend's experience - "imagine a baby sitting on a glass bottomed chair..." The sonographer was funny and printed that one off for us, but we got a lovely picture of his face too.

glad everyone's doing well. Am a bit at people being forced to take their maternity leave - is that even legal?

sneeple · 21/05/2009 07:21

Hi all,

I've not posted on MN since before my first was born in June 2007 but have been trawling for VBAC advice and thought I'd have a look at the antenatal threads

I'm actually due Aug 27th but with my first he was due 31st May and didn't come until 13th June! So I'm guessing September is more likely... ;) We're having another boy, which is very exciting although I do get the pangs of girl clothes jealousy occasionally ;)

I'm in Croydon, and attempting VBAC at Mayday... eeek!

Jo

Welcome to the group JO

LittleCheese · 21/05/2009 15:17

well ladies if any of you look at stats thread today you will notice i have had way too much time on my hands today and been very bored. Hope no one minds changes i've made and hope you are all well. Feel free just to change it back if you like the old version better

peachygirl · 21/05/2009 15:33

Welcome Jo/Sneeple I'm in croydon too and also possibly will be attempting a VBAC at Mayday I have a consultant appointment in early August.

I've found this book to be very helpful
VBAC Hnadbook

There are a couple of us in this neck of the woods. Ladylush is close by too, maybe we should have a coffee one day

ladylush · 21/05/2009 19:18

Welcome Jo/Sneeple Yes I'm in Croydon too, though booked in at St. Georges. Yes up for doing coffee (better still wine ;-))one day

Teachers - she works for Merton LEA. Yes - very hard on her to go back when ds2 only 4 months old.

Baby moving lots, can see tummy moving now. Quite strange - but nice I got a bugaboo frog on ebay (2nd hand but barely used)so that's my most exciting baby purchase so far. I had a dream that dh and I opened the envelope last night (the one the sonographer gave us). When we read the paper inside it said we are having a girl. Weird cos I am sure it's a boy.

Lizlemon - congrats on the blue one Boys are lovely. It's true that the clothes aren't as cute but when they're babies they wear babygrows a lot of the time anyway. When ds got a little bigger I used to love putting shirts on him and he looked very cute in dungarees

blue76 · 21/05/2009 21:24

Congrats lizlemon. Check out pumpkin patch for gorgeous boys' clothes!

Welcome Jo.

A close friend of mine had her scan today - she's having a blue one. Chuffed to bits for her. She's due 2 days before me!

hallo sneeple!

It's odd that he feels so much more real now we know he's a him. I laid out the little things we've bought for him so far and imagined him in them today. So much more exciting. Will check out pumpkin patch - thanks blue

Congrats on bagging the frog ladylush - we don't have room for one of those, not to mention the steps outside, but DH got very excited by the bee when we went pushchair wrestling yesterday afternoon. I'm not convinced for that much money but he has to push it too.

Oh I forgot - femur length 42.2! Hyuuge legs!

ladylush · 22/05/2009 03:46

Lizlemon - Wow Huge femur length. Are you and dp tall? Think yours is the longest so far I liked the bee as well but dh wasn't as keen. It's funny how they get so opinionated about these things isn't it. I think they view them like cars We didn't have room for a carrycot pram when we lived in ED either (and there were lots of steps) so I'm trying to make the most of the space/easy access now.

ladylush · 22/05/2009 03:49

Liz - if you go on a pushchair thread on mumsnet you'll get some useful info. There have been different models of Bee - some much less spacious than others. Since your baby will probably be very long - something you might need to consider. Look for Madmissy - she is an expert on buggies/travel systems

LizLemon · 22/05/2009 07:31

Not really: I'm 5'6 and dh is 6' - he has incredibly long arms though (wingspan 6'4"). I don't mind so much about the legs but I'd rather the head was a bit further down the scale away from the 95th percentile

Will check out the pushchair thread, ta. Yeah - my dh likes to figure out how stuff works by himself, so whenever I suggested getting someone to show us he refused and carried on wrestling, right up until he pulled a wheel off the bee. I was quite tempted not to tell him that they're designed to do that...

newbie36 · 22/05/2009 08:44

Hi all

It's been ages since I last posted on here - great to catch up on everyones news. Congrats lizlemon on your news of a boy.

Had my scan a couple of weeks ago and it's been confirmed it's a girl. My DP has already said she won't be allowed any boyfriends until she's at least 40 years old...!!

Just wondering anyone else suffering from pregnancy insomnia? I'm finding it really hard to get to sleep - the last 3 nights for me have been awful.

LizLemon · 22/05/2009 09:38

me! Have been for ages. I can fall asleep but I wake up stupidly early and can't get back to sleep at all. Yesterday was 4.45, today was 6, which is better.

LizLemon · 22/05/2009 09:39

oh and congrats on the girl!

sneeple · 22/05/2009 09:51

Hi all

Peachygirl which consultant are you seeing? I'm tired of Mr Booker and hopefully have a meeting with Sue Stock and Mr Rose who is the lead VBAC guy. Who I never heard of until I took matters into my own hands

Finding all the scan measurements interesting, never even thought of looking in detail! My report just has a rubbish, unreadable graph but I think the cross for femur length is above 40mm which will put him on the 95th centile at 22 weeks... DS1 was 60cm at birth (41+6) so not entirely surprised this one looks like he'll have Daddy's long legs too ;)

Definitely up for coffee at some point! Whereabouts in Croydon are you Peachygirl/Ladylush? I'm in Selhurst

hope this sun lasts for the whole bank holiday weekend :D

Minshu · 22/05/2009 10:56

Morning. Had a scare last night!! MN didn't seem to be available! But I kept calm and left it for an hour, by which time it was business as usual.

I've taken today off work to catch up on some paperwork that I keep putting off. And now what am I doing? Oh yes, putting it off again. Nice to have a four day weekend, between four day weeks.

But, I did wake up at 5.25 this morning and couldn't get back off to sleep. This was normal work-related frustration more than anything else, I think. My yoga teacher was saying that insomnia in pregnancy is nature's way of preparing us for the lack of sleep that comes with a new baby. I'm happy to learn about that in theory than have a practical lesson before the time comes, though...

Congrats on the tall boy, Lizlemon. And the girl, Newbie. I know what you mean about it seeming more real now I know what she is. We have some nice little chats now she's moving more noticeably, too.

PeppermintCream · 22/05/2009 11:07

hi, can I join? I am expecting dc3, due 28sept but am booked in for a section on 22 sept. I have dd aged 3.9 and ds age 1.13. I am still feeling/being quite sick but I was with my other two. We think this one will be pink, but scanographer could not be 100% sure x

SprinkleofStardust · 22/05/2009 12:33

Hi, it's been a long time since I posted and haven't been able to keep up with everyone's news but congratulations to all on the scans and news of what you're having.

Had my scan nearly 4 weeks ago now and was told it was a boy, so happy, not that it mattered, but didn't realise how much I was expecting a girl until the sonographer said 'boy'!!

DH is very happy and has bought the baby his first football (girl would have got the same though!)

Not had a very good time with MW care recently and have been signed off for this week, but back to work on Tuesday. Won't bore you all with it as everyone is happy!

Minshu · 22/05/2009 13:04

Welcome along, peppermintcream. My sonographer was similar - told me to buy a couple of pink things, but not to paint the room pink... Thinking of mine as a girl for now, though

Sorry you're having a tough time, sprinkleofstardust. If you want to get anything out in the open on here, please do. That's what MN is all about, I think.

twinklegreen · 22/05/2009 15:55

PeppermintCream you sound spookily like me I am also expecting DC3, due 28th Sept. I have a dd 3.7 and ds 1.7 and this one is also pink!!

Although I'm not having a cs and am always well overdue, so you'll probably well and truely beat me to the finish line

Welcome along!

blue76 · 22/05/2009 16:12

Btw at your dream about THE envelope, Ladylush.
Welcome peppermint
Had a chat with my boss about mat leave and coming back part-time. He was completely honest and admitted he doesn't like part-timers but was very supportive. Means I won't be attached to a class and will be a 'floater' instead, covering absences etc. I gave up work altogether to raise dd's and don't want to do that again, although I know it's going to be heartbreaking when I have to go back to work.
I've been sleeping soundly lately. I've cut out coffee, despite the craving for it [gone on to decaf] and I eat loads of salad and fruit [trying to avoid the tremedous weight-gain I had with previous pg's].
