Thought I'd start a new thread as there were only 3 posts left!

sky not shy

SprinkleofStardust · 09/06/2009 21:17

I have no idea about weight as first, my family tend to have smallish babies (6-7lb) but DH was 8lb, as was his dad so he's hoping to carry on the tradition

With regards to getting jiggy... I enjoy it far more than usual when we do but I'm so tired most the time it's not happening as much as we would like, weekends only really (sorry if TMI!)

ladylush · 09/06/2009 21:23

Blimey - and I thought ds was big at 9lb 3oz. A mere feather compared to some of yours No hx of GD here but my blood glucose was just over the threshold when I did the booking bloods. They said they don't check it again until third trimester. Have another scan at 34 weeks so might get an idea then just how big this one will be. My bump is quite neat so far, but femur length was long so I suspect it will be larger than the average (but not average for this thread ).

blinder · 09/06/2009 21:25

how come I don't know the length of my baby's femur? Does everyone get told this at the 20 week scan?

DS1 was 8lb13 so I am really hoping this girl will be a touch smaller. DS was also 14 days overdue which may account for a pound or so.

SprinkleofStardust · 09/06/2009 21:26

Good point ladylush, maybe 8lb wouldn't be that bad, but then I worry he won't fit some of the clothes we've got!!

bratnav · 09/06/2009 21:31

blinder - on my scan report there was a commentary at the top on what was seen, any problems etc, then underneath was a chart with 4 different measurements, for (I think) head diameter, circumference, abdominal circumference and femur length. They had both the actual measurements, and where that put the babys size on the percentile of babies scanned at the same stage.

daffodilli · 09/06/2009 21:34

Guess the weight, hmmm, I was 9.10 and so was DH, and would say I'm now about average size for 26+2, so I'll say about 8.14!

I've only wanted cuddles since preg, and could not stand being touched at all while I was feeling so rough! Would like to be the other way though, and so would DH I'm sure !

ladylush · 09/06/2009 21:35

sprinkle - buy some 0-3 month stuff just in case
blinder - did you get a report when you had the anomaly scan? Usually the stats are on there (femur length, head circumference, BPD etc.) and sometimes they plot the stats on a graph so you can see which centile your baby is on - much like the growth charts for babies after birth.

ladylush · 09/06/2009 21:36

oops cross posted with bratnav

blinder · 09/06/2009 21:45

I didnt get a report . maybe my MW has it... but I have my notes myself. Will ask her!

Snowfalls108 · 09/06/2009 21:46

Hi all,
I had another scan today, the baby was hilarious, they were trying to get a reading of the blood flow through the umbilical cord and the baby kept grabbing it and moving it away.
We have the GTT as standard here. I had it today. I had to fast for an hour, drink 3/4 of a bottle of lukozade (sp?) and then have the blood test an hour later.

Lady garden is very overgrown here, and not a lot of getting jiggy. Mainly because I'm knackered most of the time.

blue76 · 10/06/2009 07:15

I was talking to a colleague yday who is due 2 days after me. I was wearing trousers and a t-shirt, so bump was quite obvious. She said, 'Ooh isn't your bump a funny shape! It's all at the front!' So I've gone from everyone saying I'm huge to saying I'm tiny. Hers was loads bigger than mine. Would love to know why people think they can comment on the size of bumps...are we supposed to be a certain size at specific times??

When I say people, I mean those who aren't even pg, btw!

Just thought I'd add to the guess the weight debate. dd was 8lb4oz and ds was 10lb6oz so if I follow that pattern dd2 should be 12lb8oz!!! Thankfully i'm really hoping this one will be smaller as it's a girl, I think I feel smaller this time than I did with my son [hopeful emoticon]! I'm going to hope for a 9lb one this time

AprilMeadow · 10/06/2009 08:18

Hello all

Have been chuckling away at the talk of LG's. Can just about see mine although not sure if it is evenly trimmed - i figured at least i had tried

Am 26+2 at the mo and feeling very achy. Baby is moving so much and can be quite painful. Moving around on bed is getting to be such an effort especially when baby seems to have a favourite nerve to lie on. Dont think bump has grown too much in the last few weeks as i have only gained another 1lb in about 2/3wks. Total gain so far is 13lbs. Am thinking thats good as i was at least 2st heavier when pg with ds at this point.

Baby weights, am hoping for a 6lber this time. Ds was 7lb15oz and dd was 5lb10oz. Nothing heavier than ds please

Found out that ds has been offered a place at the local school after being on the waiting list since January, so at least thats one thing i dont have to worry about. Means that he starts school on my due date - eek

twinklegreen · 10/06/2009 08:26

Ooooh and I have had a GTT every time which has been negative. When I mentioned my concerns about another big baby to my consultant (as they have already put me back 3 weeks in dates, which would mean I got a BFP 4 days after conception but that's another story...) he said 'well we're doing a GTT and it will probably show you have GD as this is usually why people have big babies so this one will probably be smaller' I'm a bit annoyed with his blase attitude obviousely GD wasn't the issue last time so I'm doubtful it will be an issue this time either! .

Sorry for the ramble...

FairySparkles · 10/06/2009 10:57

Phew - just done a mega post catch from the last week - all this talk of lady gargens is hilarious!! Personally I get a wax whenever I go ooop north to my home town as best friend is a beauty therapist - but I was caught short before holidays so resorted to veet which worked really well - although I had to postition my self over a mirror to see what I was doing~!!

My dd was 8lb 1 but I ate around 4 chocolate bars a day when I was pg so I'm hoping this bubs will be a bit smaller - me and dp were only small babies - 6lb ish - so I was pretty shocked when I gave birth to a bigg'un!

blinder and daffodilli - i'm s.Wales too - considering the hypnobirthing but £250 might be out of the question seeing as it just cost me £300 with the AA yesterday to get me from the side of the M42 to home!! (plus my cars f**d so God only knows how much it's gonna cost me now!!)
Me and dd met some lovely firemen though when they had to come and rescue us from a smoking vehicle so it's not all bad!! hee hee

LizLemon · 10/06/2009 10:59

morning. Crikey this thread is threatening to produce some whoppers...

Just had midwife and she took blood again - they test for blood sugar and iron levels and for antibodies (I'm Rh-) at this point before sending for GTT or adding iron tablets into the mix. She also announced that she's pregnant! I'll be in her last month of being on call, so here's hoping this one doesn't hang out until October It felt really funny asking my midwife if she'd been sick.

Neddie · 10/06/2009 12:07

So far I have had two girls weighing 8 1/2lb each so don't know how big twins will be as they will be out a bit earlier. Both other babies were exactly 40 weeks plus 3 days.

FairySparkles · 10/06/2009 12:41

Oh yeah - meant to ask: has anyone experienced similar pregnancies but had different sex babies?? I've only heard stories about people experiencing really different pregnancies - with the results either same sex or different sex!
I only ask cos this pg is very similar to when I was pg with dd but I've got a gut feeling it's a boy - it's confusing me!!

twinklegreen · 10/06/2009 12:43

my pregnancies were quite similar and I had girl, boy then girl again this time. In fact this girl pregnancy has been most similar to my boy pregnancy... hope they've got it right!!

audreyraines · 10/06/2009 15:41

has anyone just been fatigued the whole pregnancy? i'm 27 weeks now, about to dive into the third trimester and it's just never really gotten any better. i've just booked an acupuncture session for friday and maybe i'll take some chinese herbs as well and see if it makes any difference. i just feel so rubbish, i'd really like to have a little energy to enjoy my last days of 1 child only ...

pebblebeach · 10/06/2009 16:30

audrey - me too, feel exactly the same, nevere got past the knackered stage from the 1st trimester and as I'm almost 27 weeks I guess it's not going to happen. My midwife said yesterday "almost 27 weeks, you'll probably start feeling really tired now" . I am vainly hoping that starting mat leave in 8 weeks will let me enjoy a final few less-tired weeks with DC1 (who right now is home with croup, fun fun)

LJ29 · 10/06/2009 16:34

I'm also knackered and in fact my overriding memory of each of my pregnancies is extreme exhaustion. I feel really guilty moaning about it as DH has been doing alot of overtime and does the majority of the housework too. I can't wait to finish work but am only 26+4 so about 10 weeks to go yet. I was drinking the Spatone but still found it had a nasty effect on the digestive system so gave up on that.

ladylush · 10/06/2009 16:50

Yep I'm knackered as well. Also been getting a strange symptom - hot eyes! My eye sockets get very hot at times. Have never experienced this before. Most strange
