Thought I'd start a new thread as there were only 3 posts left!

OP posts:

Blinder - E-mailed the hypnobirthing lady on Sunday - she got back to me yesterday to say she was fully booked until the middle of July so didn't think she could be of much help - so I emailed her back and said that as bubs isn't due til September, will that be long enough! Waiting to hear back now! She did give me the details of her friend who lives in Pontardawe though so there is another option. I'm hoping she can fit me in though as she 'sounded' nice on the e-mail!

LOL at the LG chat! I'm a shaver as have got sensitive skin that hates wax and creams,so for an easy life just keep it neat and short!! I dont think that on the big day I'm going to be thinking of what it looks like down there though, and I'm not bothered about various random people looking at my lady bits (feel more sorry for them tbh!)and if the MW etc are thinking 'oh she could have tidied up a bit' prehaps they should take up beauty therapy!

Woke up last night with something tickling my face, thought it was my hair so brushed it off,few seconds later something was tickling my right arm, then my left so put the light on and there was a bloody big spider on the bed! Poor DH jumped a foot in the air with my screams! This was at 3am and haven't slept since! I HATE spiders, and the spider 'season' (when you find all the big fat ones in the house) does not usually start til at least Sept! Shudder..! Hope every one else had a more peaceful night!

daffodilli · 09/06/2009 10:34

Oh forgot something! Re the anti-D, I'm R-ve, but so is DH so I wont need the injection apparently - so if anyone is a bit about the injection, see what blood type your OH is first may be a way of avoiding needles!

bratnav · 09/06/2009 11:35

Hi all,

Have been away for ages as DH has been in hospital on and off for months, but just thought I would check in and say hello.

Had my scan at 20+5 and baby is at the top end of the charts, no surprise there, but the femur length was off the chart at 40mm Had a MW appointment yesterday and I am measuring at 30 weeks, I am only 27, so I have to have a GTT when I come back from holiday

Re gardening, I have no idea what to do, I normally shave the lot, but can't reach anymore (ditto toenails) and whilst DH is happy to paint my nails, I can't quite bring myself to ask him to defluff the muff and am too much of a coward to go in for waxing.

Are any of you thinking about a home birth?

bratnav · 09/06/2009 11:44

Oh, and we are having a boy, bit of a change after 3 girls, they are all wildly excited.

SprinkleofStardust · 09/06/2009 16:24

Hi Bratnav,

Congratulations on having a boy, so am I, but it's my first so was wildly excited that it was a baby

Sorry to hear about your DH being in and out of hospital, hope everything is ok.

I want to have a home birth, even with my MW's not being overly supportive, as long as DH is and my mum (although she won't be there unless I really need her) that's all I really cared about and I really want to have him at home, not sure why exactly but I do!

TigerFeet · 09/06/2009 16:32

Hi everyone, how are you all doing?

It's been ages since I last posted, I lost the thread

I'm OK, still being sick occasionally but nothing like as bad as I was.

I will try my best to read back and catch up!

blinder · 09/06/2009 16:40

I'm up for a home birth but have yet to discuss it with MW!

Daffodilli - ooh I hope she can fit you in, or her friend can. However, if you don't get anywhere I can always pass on resources to you and explain them if you fancy meeting up...

My friend woke up one morning with a slug on his face while we were camping. He had to peel it off and he threw it against the wall of the tent in horror when he saw what it was. I'd still prefer that to a spider though!

'defluff the muff' - that's the perfect expression bratnav .

blinder · 09/06/2009 16:45

mind you, if only it were merely 'fluff' . In my case it's more like 'deforestation of the lowlands'.

blue76 · 09/06/2009 17:00

bratnav. DP and I laughed at the muff defluffing. Yeah I'm down for home birth. They've suggested buying an airbed not sure I fancy bouncing up and down whilst giving birth??

EEEKKK!! Spiders! I hate them too, Daffodilli!

ladylush · 09/06/2009 18:10

I don't mind spiders but don't fancy them walking over my face/arms. Yuck.

Bratnav - sorry to hear about your dh being in hospital. Congrats on a boy Another long baby. A few on this thread What's a GTT?

nitnat84 · 09/06/2009 18:13

These comments are hilarious!
I think I would have given birth if I had a spider crawl across me in the night! Bloody hell!

bratnav · 09/06/2009 18:32

Tiger - I can't believe you are still being sick, is there nothing that anyone can do for you?It must be awful

DH has so far this year had his appendix out, followed by cellulitis (v nasty infection) caused by op, then hernia op, again followed by another post op infection. The hernia op was 6 weeks ago and he is still having antibiotics, the GP thinks they may have to operate again to sort it out

GTT is a glucose tolerance test to check if I am getting pg diabetes, I had the test with DD1 as I was HUGE, but it was neg, she was just a v big baby (9lb 14oz).

Spiders, aaaargh, awful

nitnat84 · 09/06/2009 18:50

Does everyone have the glucose test or is it something that some areas do and others not?

TigerFeet · 09/06/2009 19:12

Your poor dh Bratnav. I do hope that he's on the mend soon.

I'm taking antiemetics and making sure I don't overdo it, other than that there isn't much anyone can do. The meds help enormously but don't completely solve the problem.

GTT's are carried out if it is suspected that the mother may have gestational diabetes or if she is in a high risk group - I believe it goes on risk and circumstances rather than area. I'm having one in a couple of weeks, as my BMI is higher than it should be

LOL at the ladygarden convo's. I think mine needs a hedge trimmer. Not too sure though, I haven't seen it for a while

daffodilli · 09/06/2009 19:14

I love 'de-fluff the muff'!! PMSL!

Hi to bratnav and congrats on the boy!
Your poor DH has had a tough year so far by the sounds of it,hope he gets better soon x

Sounds like we're going for the big baby thread,do you reackon MN will give us an award for the highest number of big babies?!

Hypno lady says she is going to try and fit me in so looking good! Will need a bit of hypnotising to get over last nights trauma!! LOL!

PeppermintCream · 09/06/2009 20:39

Oh, I hope that I don't join you ladies with big babies. I am looking so much bigger this time, than previous pgs, and ds was 10lb 11oz I don't think my back can take carrying another big one around...
I am also waiting to find out if I need to have a GTT
Has anyone on this thread, already had one? What's it like?

bratnav · 09/06/2009 20:40

Tigerfeet - if you don't mind me asking how high is your BMI? Mine was bang on 30 at booking in, but so far I have only put on 7lbs give or take, I assume that the baby is using up some of my 'reserves'?

Bearing in mind that babies tend to be bigger as you go along, as do boys, I am guestimating 10lb 7oz and very long. Anybody else want to play guess the weight of our babies?

peachygirl · 09/06/2009 20:41

I'm hoping for a little one here! DD was only 5lb 9 so I think 6lbs for this one.
I keep meaning to come on an report my femur length to compare it to all the long babies I'll have a look.

bratnav · 09/06/2009 20:42

Hi Peppermint. From what I remember about the GTT I had with DD1, you starve from 10pm the night before, go in at 9am ish to have a blood sample taken, then drink copious amounts of Lucozade then have another blood test 2 hours later to see how your body copes with the sugar.

LJ29 · 09/06/2009 20:44

I have also got to have a GTT a week on Friday as DD was 9lb 14.5oz. We've actually started a sweep stake at work for the weight of the baby. I'm also guessing about 10.5lb.

BabyLady · 09/06/2009 20:47

OMG bratnav, big baby. Did you have a C-sec?

Haven't worried too much about my garden in the last 6 weeks. I can harldy see it and as DH hardly ever gets look in sex wise not sure there is any harm!! Don't know how everyone else is feeling, but I just don't feel like a lot of "lovin'" from DH. I feel a bit sorry for him. Not like it is going to get much better after the baby arrives.

I feel like my baby is going to be big, but no evidence to go on. Doctor reckons all looks normal size at this stage. I have decided to go for another scan at 31 weeks as I want to see the baby again, and I guess just to put my mind at ease tht placenta is doing all the good stuff it is supposed to be.

PeppermintCream · 09/06/2009 20:50

Thanks for the info bratnav. Not sure I fancy starving myself, hey just another pregnancy joy... I guess I better find a good book to take to the hospital if I am going to be waiting around for 2 hours
Good luck with your GTT

LJ29 · 09/06/2009 20:50

DH is feeling absolutely sex starved!!! Just don't feel like it and after all the bleeding episodes I just feel too scared. Really missing that closeness tho.

LittleCheese · 09/06/2009 20:51

ill play guess the weight, i'm definately much bigger this time which is worrying, my bump now (27 weeks) is about the same as 39 week bump with dd and she was 7lb 5 im hoping about 8lb 5 ish this time but who knows. A friend had her little girl today 10lb 8oz 12 days over due

bratnav · 09/06/2009 20:52

Peppermints was much bigger than mine

No CS, I have HUGE hips and pushed her out fairly easily on G&A. See I knew the bootay would come in handy for something.....

Sorry if TMI, but I am the opposite to you Babylady, can't get enough in the 'loving' department at the moment, been the same since I stopped feeling sick I guess the hormones send you one way or the other. She will kill me for this, but I know my DSis normally has a shy high libido, but when pg the very thought of it made her feel like throttling her DP
