Thought I'd start a new thread as there were only 3 posts left!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Minshu · 07/06/2009 21:25

My LO has busy days, interspersed with lazy days, too. So she's a bit like her mum, really.

Hadn't even thought about the lady garden in relation to the big day, just in case I ever get round to going swimming rather than just taking my swimming kit around with me...

I have my mw appointment on Thursday, so that's another question for my list.

SprinkleofStardust · 07/06/2009 21:54

Loving the stories of people's experiences of lady gardens, I am having trouble too, was considering a wax, but usually epilate my legs and arms (not LG as not brave enough) but trying to epilate the legs is hurting so much more than usual couldn't bare the thought of a wax, might just suck it up and do it though as it's quite ridiculous down there!!

Re home births, I really want one even though the MW's I've seen (2 so far) have not been overly enthusiastic or supportive, giving me lots of negative facts, especially about first timers, which was nice, but that's just made me more determined to be at home. Just have to hope that on the day I get some nice MW's, plus DH and my mum are both really supportive so I'm sure I'll be fine.

I did loads of gender prediction tests on the internet before the 20 week scan and they ALL said that it was more likely to be a girl hence the added surprise when he flashed us!!

Is anyone else still feeling really tired and finding work hard? Weekends are completely taken up with sleeping and feeling rubbish!!

Minshu · 07/06/2009 22:08

Poor thing, sprinkleofstardust! I'm generally not feeling too bad compared to the first few months of the year, but I am consciously taking things easier than normal. I am surprised at how breathless I get already, as I didn't expect this until later when the lungs got more compressed.

I'm including work in taking things easy. I've decided to delegate a bit more, and let a few "things" go on the back burner. I'm finding that "things" often disappear when you do that. This works in my job, but is not always possible in other jobs.

Anyway, I'm going to bed. Night-night.

BabyLady · 08/06/2009 10:43

LOL re the discussion on gardening. I too have been having quite a few thoughts about this and was thinking about going for a wax a couple of weeks befor my due date. Depending on how loing bubs takes to arrive then I guess it could be growing back a bit but hopefully short enough to avoid dry shave (ick!). I guess just keep everything short beforehand in case it comes early??

Back pain has been coming and going. Wondering if it has to do with the position of bubs or just whatever I have been doing during the day.

I too am keen on the perenial massage. Anything to avoid too much damage down there. DH has a big head and mine is not exactly small so a bit worried in that respect . Let me know if you manage to scan the brochure.

pebblebeach · 08/06/2009 11:47

Shudders.. I think I vaguely recall a dry shave moment just before DD arrived, rasor rash + stitches + general soreness = not fun.

Peachygirl, babylady ? I thought I had found the guide online here .... it is all in French (I?m in France), I can?t find an English version BUT for some reason this version doesn?t have the essential pages (from20-29), maybe some sensorship ?!? I don't have a scanner but I can take pics of them if anyone is still interested. BTW I got it from my antenatal course midwife last time.

Sprinkle ? sorry you're feel rubbish - that sounds horrible, but pls make the most of sleep while you can. Seriously, advise to first timers before baby arrives - just do not get out of bed unless you HAVE to and if it's uncomfy to line-in go back to bed as soon/often as you can. People told me this before DD and I soooooo wish I had taken the advice, here I am at 26w.5ks pg and a DD of 15.5months and I am sooo of first timers possibility to sleep whenever. On the plus side the night time toilet trips aren't bothering me anywhere near as much as first time round as I haven't had a full night sleep in ooooh 20months anyway .

And,Spinkle, glad you're ignoring your midwives and doing what you want re hb, good luck!!

Minshu ? think I might have to take your approach to ?things? at work, sounds like a fab idea

Oh and I have a 54% of having a boy ? so nice and conclusive then

Phew epic post.... lunchtime now

blinder · 08/06/2009 12:07

if I am too scared to wax the garden, does that bode badly for the birth?? i really am such a wimp .

personally, I like using the cream that showers off. Cant remember for the life of me what it's called (baby-brain) but I never get any rashes or itching afterwards. Also, it can be done at home on the big day.

let me know if you book daffodilli!

SprinkleofStardust · 08/06/2009 13:54

Blinder, I used to use that too, Veet cream, was Immac before. Was worried about using it in case it seeped through to the baby (may be taking the paranoia a tad too far me thinks?) But I always found it really good before PG so may use it before the birth so I'm spick and span down there!!

Finding it hard to take things easy at work as only got the job 2 weeks before I got PG (not planned that way but there you go!!) so feel guilty if I'm not pulling my weight, although I'm currently at work and typing this so maybe should go and actually do something more productive...

ladylush · 08/06/2009 16:03

I see everyone came to the same conclusion as me about the gender predictor

Sprinkle - I too am a coward when it comes to waxing. Esp the LG - the idea alone brings me out in a cold sweat. I'd probably scream and startle the poor baby Veet doesn't work that well on me. It's always patchy. Think I will get some new hedge trimmers

Work is becoming tiring. I'm ok when I'm there but totally knackered in the evening.

ladylush · 08/06/2009 16:04

Oops sorry Sprinkle - it's blinder that is scared of waxing. Blinder - I've been through childbirth and am still scared of waxing

SprinkleofStardust · 08/06/2009 16:20

It's alright ladylush, I'm quite scared about it too!! Have had it done in the past twice and hated it both times, now my skin is extra sensitive feel that it will be more horrific.

That's just how I am as well, fine at work but completely knackered in the evening, don't really feel that I'm living, just surviving at the moment, conserving energy just to get through work and then none left for home life. Still 49 more working days left!!

blue76 · 08/06/2009 16:41

I've been having a giggle at people's posts about lady gardens... I'm not going near any wax - last time I had it done I looked like a plucked chicken. Dp getting beside himself with excitement at the thought of helping me keep things tidy. Yet when it comes to the birth, he has bagsied the head-end as he doesn't want to see the gory bits... As I've said before, it's been 10 years since dd2 was born. I was only 23 and I'm pretty sure there wasn't as much to keep tidy as there is now, so I don't think I bothered back then. hehe

mumtobe23 · 08/06/2009 17:22

Hehehehe! How funny with the lady garden & waxing / veet talk! Its quite strange actually as I've been thinking about keeping "down there" tidy for the big day & was going to post myself about what to do, sometimes its like this tread reads my mind!

I too am fine in the day but come 6.30 I'm knackered, & once i sit on the sofa theres not a chance i'm getting up till the boyfriend has to pull me up & into bed!

My belly now jumps about when the little one moves and its quite stange to site there watching it move, almost like theres an alien in there!

Hope your all good xx

nitnat84 · 08/06/2009 17:42

Hahaha! These messages are funny. Think I started the 'lady garden' convo... sorry everyone!
Mumtobe23- my belly is moving all over the place. Hubby finds it disturbing. It is like we have swallowed a baby and it is shouting let me out!! We will all have nightmares tonight now... sorry again!!
As for the being tired, I am shattered by 5 or 6 pm. I have to spend my evenings writing reports and assessing for year 2 SAT's. It is a killer.
Got my anti-D injection in 2 weeks. Is it true they inject you in the bottom rather than the arm? Anyone know?

blinder · 08/06/2009 17:43

thank goodness it's not just me . I would definitely need gas and air for a waxing.

or hypnowaxing... Now there could be a money-spinner!

ladylush · 08/06/2009 18:21

lol at gas & air for a bikini wax Think I'd need an epidural

Counting down the weeks til I leave work. I was hoping to finish the week that ds breaks up from school but think I might have to carry on an extra week. Still, good to know that I am leaving next month - even if it is the end of the month

twinklegreen · 08/06/2009 19:44

nitnat84 I've always had Anti-d in either arm or leg, no one's ever mentioned the bottom!! thank goodnes

nitnat84 · 08/06/2009 20:04

Oh good. Think someone maybe winding me up!

Neddie · 08/06/2009 20:05

Bottom is better actually as you can't see it going in and I have a Mediterranean bum so lots of padding! I've never had anti-D at 28 weeks because I think it's a new-fangled thing only straight after baby was born to cover for the next one (each time I said don't worry I shan't be doing this again)

SprinkleofStardust · 08/06/2009 21:07

Sorry if I sound a bit stupid or naive, but what's the Anti-D injection? I've not been told anything about it!!

nitnat84 · 08/06/2009 21:19

The Anti-D injection is for you to have if you are rhesus negative. If you are not then you do not need it.

SprinkleofStardust · 08/06/2009 21:29

Oh thanks, was a bit worried then!!

ladylush · 09/06/2009 01:14

Oh yes, bottom injections are much less painful.

twinklegreen · 09/06/2009 08:06

Neddie I am also declining the 28 week one this time and having the one after birth, my consultant was a bit stroppy about it, so i'm glad to hear that i'm not the only one who thinks it's unecessary!

LizLemon · 09/06/2009 09:02

I think my mum had the anti-d in her bottom after she'd had me and my sister, but at that point she didn't care... Mine is booked for two weeks time and I'm really not looking forward to it. Might speak to the midwife tomorrow about whether it's strictly necessary.
