Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
bigcar · 12/05/2009 10:49

morning all

MrsMcJnr, sorry to hear your dh is behaving so badly. If you find that book on getting dhs to grow up, pleeaasssse share

tee, the last few days seem to drag don't they! When I was expecting dd2 and was working I seem to remember doing very little work the last week apart from drinking a fair amount of tea and trying my best to keep my head of the desk!

laura, hope the gtt went ok and the midwife was more supportive than last week, how long do you have to wait for the results?

littlesarah, what a pain! How do some of the lecturers get away with being so vague? They must have done this loads of times, how frustrating.

effie, glad everything was ok, much better to be safe and get checked, especially when they've told you to be very cautious. Only a few more days now until you get your date!

naat, sounds like you have all your options covered now with regards to the bcs. Sounds like you might have a good hv there, keep hold of her! Hope your scan goes well tomorrow, enjoy seeing your lo

ineed, how nice to have a boring appointment good to hear all's on course. Good luck for getting a sweep, can't see why they would refuse. I did my best last time to avoid it, most of my friends thought I was mad for turning it down It didn't work for me in the end when I did eventually give in.

I totally had the nesting thing going on last week, got so much done, now it's all gone completely to pot again! So, anyone that has a dh that is being particularly helpful or mums, mils they could point in my direction, I'd be most grateful . Don't get me wrong, dh is being vaguely helpful, I just don't think that being 37 weeks he realises that really the baby could put in an appearance at any time now. As all the others have been late he's assuming this one will be even though I've told him it's unlikely the docs will let me go over this time due to the gd and the rather large size of this lo! I have another scan tomorrow so will see if this lo will still fit on the screen, s/he was measuring just over 7lb 3 weeks ago, not looking forward to seeing how much predicted weight is now! I think another cs is looking likely, will have to wait until tuesday next week to see what the docs advise, shame I can't see them straight after the scan

waves to all and to all those finishing work this week

Naat · 12/05/2009 10:54

Hi Juners!!

Bookmarking here! Busy morning so I'll try and catch up later

LIttleS I'll email DH, don't worry

bigcar · 12/05/2009 11:14

naat, I can't see your pics Don't worry about peoples comments on bump size, everyone seems to feel they must have an opinion for some reason. To be honest when people tell me I'm huge, I have to agree, one of the mums at school is expecting twins a couple of days after me and we are the same size! Oh well, I obviously have no stomach muscles left what so ever

choccie, I also have a little follower every time I go to the loo, just dd3 though, no cats Dh actually said to me the other day that I'd never got breathless in my previous pregnancies and that I should go to hospital and get checked It's like having to start from scratch again because he just doesn't remember At least he remembers what it's like with a newborn around and I know he'll pull his weight when this lo does turn up, at least that's not far off now

Naat · 12/05/2009 11:29

that's strange... I've refreshed my mates list, so try again, bigcar
You're right, everyone thinks they have some say in our size... As if being pg isn't enough, huh?

June2009 · 12/05/2009 11:39

Quick hello from sunny/windy london, not been able to keep up with the thread over the weekend and now completely lost :D
I will need to put some time aside to go through it all later! I hope everybody's ok.

I got fitted for a support bra yesterday and I am a 44 DD (44??? I was 38 before, how did that happen, did everybody's waist go up THAT much?
Too much waist and not enough cup if you ask me!
Mothercare didn't have pretty bras that big, they seem to stop at 38 or 40.
I was considering having a look at hotmilk but with only a month left I might just have to do with plain white.

They said it was too early to get measured for nursing bras and recommended I come at week 38 (am 36 now).

Work is going better now, we made a lot of progress and things are looking more organised!

Best friend back from holiday and coming over for tea today, can't wait to catch up!

Take care everyone!

bigcar · 12/05/2009 11:42

Thanks naat, it's working! You have a lovely bump, lovely pics too Must get round to taking some of my bump, but then I've been saying that for ages, it WILL happen

LittleSarah · 12/05/2009 11:52

bigcar - Yes I said that to dh yesterday and the day before, take a pic of the bump, and has it happened? Lol. Must try to do it today. Good luck with appointment tomorrow, I'm jealous you get to find out how heavy baby is, I'd love to know. I had a brief nesting period but seems to have evaporated. Still got this uni work and then research work to do and only seem motivated enough to keep up with basic housework!

June - Hotmilk do nursing bras, that is what I am wearing now. I'm going back in a couple of weeks to get remeasured and then will order another!

Naat - Thanks for that, I really must do something for you at some point!

Naat · 12/05/2009 13:01

Right, a break!

LittleS don't mention it! I've emailed him now, I hope he can help

Bigcar get some pics! We both have scans tomorrow! Hope your DH realises it's not far at all now!!

June soooo glad work is better these days Enjoy your catch-up with your friend today!

choccie so to hear about your tree, esp. after all the "resucitation" you did yesterday. You had some pretty nasty winds I can see, to uproot a 7ft tree Hope your DS is better today and that you can have a restoring nap after last night's sleep.

laura good luck at the GTT today!!

effie great to hear gaviscon has given you some relief!! How sweet of your DH to "wake up" LO this morning, bless him Oh, you're not alone, every time we bought something for LO I spent some good time playing with it

tee 3 days! wooohooo!!!

ermin oh, how exciting waiting for the boiler man I hate having to wait for people to do some type of work, the time windows they give you are insane! Tomorrow I have to wait for an energy performance inspector as well so... HOpe you don't get too bored

ineed great to hear everything with LO is fine!! Rest today, you did too much yesterday

Hi insy and silk! mrsMc any improvement? Has he apologised? I hope things are better, hon. What you put at the end of your post was so inspiring! That peace you feel right now is just great! LOL at your cats (and other Juners' cats)! Well, they say animals sense things so who knows??? Hope you're feeling ok (((hug)))

Dissertation work today... I've written one fifth of what I need so far Trying to finish the day with a third (how mad am I counting things this way?)

Feeling really lazy about house chores... I'm dreading doing the dishes so I put it off until the evening each day . I hope I get some nesting feelings kicking in again soon, like some of you said

Right, back to work. (((waves)))

Effielou · 12/05/2009 13:09

Naat Good luck with your dissertation, I used to do it by paragraph!! Less daunting.

House chores thats what DH/OH are for!!! Put your feet up and say to him your really knackered and need to rest!! lol x

I have given my DH the final say on a girls name as when DD was born- we were not together ( eventhough he was involved in my pg and there when she was born long story- won't bore you all) and I chose her name!!

We have Neve, Emilia, Grace and now he like Florence ( which I've always liked- but he didn't last time) Which out of those go with the other 2- Imogen and Flynn xx

silkcushion · 12/05/2009 14:01

hello all - you are soooo chatty and it's only half way through the day.

Effie I love all of your girls names - so not much help from me. aaawww at little Flynn talking to squiggle. Dd has been doing something similar lots of patting of my tummy and kissing the baby good night before bed time. Let's hope she's as loving and kind when dd2 really arrives!

Choccie - think we had parallel lives last night dd woke at 4am crying (actually grizzled for nearly an hour before that whilst both dh and I pretended not to hear) Felt bad when I did finally got to her though as she soaked through her nappy . Then she wanted to play until 5.30am. Finally got to sleep then and dh woke at 6am to go to work

Dh and I have slept in separate rooms for about 2 months now as I have been so rubbish at sleeping - apparently I flail about and wake him up. We do have snuggles in bed together on weekend mornings though. Bit worried we might not want to revert back to normal after the birth

Hello to absolutely everyone else who I've forgotten.

insywinsyspider · 12/05/2009 14:04

effie I think all those names go, I like Grace and Neve best - I think Neve, Imogen and Flynn is a nice combination but like I said all of them are lovely

thoughts on Layla? dh reckons it should be spelt Leila but pronounced Lay-la, if I saw Leila I'd say it Lee-la... quite liking Lyra or layla at the moment but SIL, due month after me is thinking of Lola so now I'm not sure

Effielou · 12/05/2009 14:11

insy I like the Layla way less confusing when telling people, as they will always say it how you don't want it said- then you either have to correct- or ignore Imogens great-grandparents call her- Imogeeeeene!!! with a country accent- she hates it.
We also have an Isobel in the family people don't get to confused between the 2 especially as my Imogen is more beautiful!! LOL not that I'm bias x

silk Fingers crossed for us both- as I think Flynn will find it hard to adjust we talk to him about the baby all the time and probably still refer to LO as squiggle once its out so he can link the 2 together-- Hes also a Mummys boy and will push Immie away if she gets too close!!

Off to get the monkeys from school-- peace s nearly over xxxx

insywinsyspider · 12/05/2009 14:51

silk dh and I have had a few nights apart the past week as his snoring hasn't let up, got a single bed from BIL and squeezed it into babies room, feel a bit sad about it as first time had to do it in 3 pregnancies but so needed the sleep, prob going to keep it in there for when baby arrives just to make sure we get some sleep then, dh has been told he's on night duty for ds's and I'll have newborn, worrying how it'll work out!

effie missed bit about ds and squiggle, he's very cute, ds1 has also felt baby kick, told me it was naughty of kicking me so I said it was swimming and he asked if he could take baby swimming properly once it was out of my tummy

tee last week for me too!

Tee2072 · 12/05/2009 15:55

silk DH and I haven't slept in same bed for quite a while either. We do try to have a snuggle in the mornings before work, though!

insy YIPPEEE!!!

effie I like Florence.

We may have a boys name, Adam Joseph. Adam for my MIL's father and Joseph for my paternal grandfather. We both like it! Now, if we could just come up with a girls name we both like!

Effielou · 12/05/2009 16:06

Hi Tee the gaviscon worked a treat!!! Choosing a name is soo tricky-- the amount of people so "oh I don't like that" does my head in!
I like Adam aswell but he was an ex so I've ruled out that one but love it!! ( DH says the amount of ex's I have had counts for most the names in the boys name section of the book so we can rule most out-- cheeky arse!!!!! lol)

Good luck with the girls name xx

insy Love the swimming story!! Bless them my friends dd- took her baby well before her jabs think I'll wait til the first lot!!

lauraloo09 · 12/05/2009 18:16

hiya everyone will catch up later just thought i'd come on and say GTT was ok, my arm feels like a pin cushion tho lol
Got to go back next thursday for my results but the suspect everything will be fine so they are also going to do my risk assessment next thurs too to see if i can give birth at the Midwife Led Unit got my next and final scan tomorrow morning to see if placenta is alright

I am desp to cut my grass but DH has told me there is no way I am doing it, only thing is my grass is terrible and DH only gets one day off a week which is thursday so everyone please hope it stays dry on thurs for him to cut it for me

Hope everyone has had a lovely day

ermintrude13 · 12/05/2009 18:28

Hi all

Effie I like all those girls' names. We aren't discussing names with anyone for the precise reason that someone will always make an objection to every name you think of. It will be presented as a fait accompli and then everyone will have to be polite about it

Insy I prefer Leila. Layla looks made up to me. I mean, all names are made up at some point of course, but I don't think difficulty in spelling counts against a name. I went to school with a lot of Siobhans, Grainnes, Mairidhs etc. and was always v jealous that my name was so boring and obvious. Lyra is fab, she's such a heroine and the name is so pretty.

Hurrah for you and Tee on last week at work. Well done both for sticking it this long - you'll be glad when you have more time at the other end.

Naat, yup, boiler man was as exciting as he sounded. But gave it a clean bill of health so that was good. Hope you got on well with work today. And my version of nesting instint is to wait until something HAS to be done and then do it, muttering in irritation, at great speed. Then feel great relief. Some people seem able to revel in it and enjoy getting things ready; for me it's just more chores. Although I am going into town on Thurs and will buy a couple of new soft baby towels, the only things I'm actually buying for this LO, and I'm looking forward to that rather pathetically

June My bra size is up from 34C to 38C. It's when the milk comes in that my cup size goes up to DD, and I have bras in just about every size within that range so am hoping not to have to buy many new ones. Do Bravissimo make larger nursing bras? Worth checking out as well as Hotmilk. My sis went from 32F to 34JJ . Her bf was over the moon.

bigcar those weight by scan measurements can be so far out. Hope the docs don't keep you waiting for news too long.

Naat · 12/05/2009 19:00

Hi Juners!!

Effie yep, anything helps paragraph by paragraph, chunk by chunk, word for word Dh actually helps A LOT, he does all the cleaning of the bathroom and all the vacuuming as he knows it hurts to bend and it's not good for me... that's why I try to do the dishes Lovely names! I love Neve and Emilia. HOpe you make a decision soon.

We have narrowed down the list (that changes with the weeks for DH ): We have Martina, Zoe, Sienna, Mila and Rhia (yes, Rhia ). I have almost vetoed Rhia as it might be toooo unusual and I cannot help but think about Sienna Miller, who I hate!, so I don't know about that one. Comments, welcome, lovely Juners

silk hope you can get a better sleep tonight and that it's uninterrupted I don't move much in bed, although that doesn't stop me from being really uncomfortable, so sending DH away would not help much

insy in Spanish we have both Layla and Leila and they are pronounced just as they're written. Of course, go for the one you like best, but I guess pronunciation and spelling sometimes get in the way, esp. when people call them by anything BUT their names

tee yay on having the boy names sorted!

laura glad the test went OK, fingers crossed for Thursday!!! So it's 3 of us that have scans tomorrow then, Bigcar, you and me . Oh, fingers crossed for a sunny Thursday as well

ermin glad you have a healthy boiler again Oh, without a doubt any nesting chores are chores anyway , I guess sometimes we just don't complain as much LOL.

littleS DH has uni now so he'll be back later at night, I'll send you an email, don't worry.

Re. nursing bras, the oddest thing happened to me, when I got pg my breasts started getting bigger and then they stalled and even shrunk a bit back again I realised as the bras I bought and felt tight back then started feeling looser... God knows if they'll get bigger after LO is born. Has this happened to anyone before?

Right, I wrote half the commentary today!! I now think that after I finish writing everything I'll have to shorten it as I have a word limit that is not that high...
I'm really happy anyway as the end looks nearer!!

(((waves)))

silkcushion · 12/05/2009 20:07

I like Rhia quite similar to Rhian and Rhiannon (lovely welsh names imo)

I agree with whoever said to present names as a fait accompli because someone will always dislike them.

Dd is called Megan and MIL made no bones about telling us it was a ghastly welsh name but she is such a cute little Meggy Peg - it's suits her perfectly.

This one is being called Eleri Isabella. Eleri is a much more unusal Welsh name. Whenever I've told anyone they give a face before recovering their manners and saying 'ooh that's unusual'

I am such an idiot - I'd convinced myself that I was 35 +4 but my mw (when talking earlier about our next appointment) said 'silk - you do realise yr 34+4 don't you?' I felt like such a thickie. And I've now got another week to go!!!

Very painful day today. Seemingly endless BH (sometimes with pain) and some sharp stabbing sensations quite low down. Lo has been disoc dancing today as well. felt so rubbish I skived off work and came home to bed for the afternoon for a mumsnet sleep

Naat · 12/05/2009 20:28

silk Megan is a lovely name! Shame on your MIL Eleri Isabella is great! I love Isabella but DH doesn't We haven't discussed names with anyone as DH's family is the worst and we don't feel like going through the whole "oh, that's just awful", we'll just INFORM them of the name when she's born You're the only ones I've shared them with

Hope you feel better soon, put your feet up if you can

lauraloo09 · 12/05/2009 20:36

the suggestions being made for names are lovely
Must agree with those discussing chosen names with relatives in real life. I told everyone we were naming our daughter Sarah and I have already had people saying "oh you're naming her after your Great-Gran how sweet!" I didn't even know my great gran was called Sarah so I have to keep telling people we chose the name because we love it and also it means Little Princess

silk Eleri Isabella what a lovely name very unusal

naat love all your names I particularly like Martina and Rhia {smile]

tee DH and I had chosen Adam John if we were having a boy

DorisIsAPinkDragon · 12/05/2009 21:04

Lauraloo- little secret I too am a "little princess" much more unusual now than it was when I was born tho'.

Insy- I like L names too dd2 is Lydia, not sure which of yours I prefer think you've just got to go with your gut.

Silk- I love Eleri it's such a pretty name but E girls names are a definite no no after DD1

I thought I had girls names sorted but I think I'm going to retire in a mo with the baby names bible and just check

Naat- well done you for half way and it's only tues.

June- Bravisssimo definitely do bigger sizesboth cup and back, Make sure you have been measured properly tho' as that is quite a big jump. You need enough support around the back to support the wweight of the boobs ( I always find a new bra correctly fitted quite uncomfortable for the first few wears...

All of those wanting my mum fairy godmother sorry she's mine all mine!!!

She and my lovely dad came back for more today and she got through about 7 loads of ironing whilst I took dd2 to toddlers. And dad's taken measurements for more diy stuff. awwww I hope to be like this in a few years time with my dd's.....

Going to reasearch names now

lauraloo09 · 12/05/2009 21:19

quick question - when should you get measured for nursing bras? I need to go to bravissimo in Glasgow so dont want to go a week or 2 too early

Also sorry if TMI but is anyone doing/planning to do perinal massage? Been reading up on it and wondered if it does actually help with problems of stretching/stitches

MrsMcJnr · 12/05/2009 21:52

Hey ladies I?ve spent an hour tonight on both DS?s and the new baby?s birth books. I can?t believe that there are so many gaps in DS?s especially when I?d completed as much as I could before he arrived the time has just gone so fast

Think I am getting there on the things I wanted to get done before the baby arrives one thing I had forgotten about but have now done is to locate my pre-pregnancy summer wardrobe and get it back in my cupboard. Last time I didn?t do that and had to continue wearing mat clothes for weeks because I didn?t have time to find any other clothes to wear.

MIL and the fairy wall stickers arrive tomorrow also forgot to tell you. Took the double buggy for a test drive on Sat (had DS?s little friend round so she was his co-pilot) there was bad news and good news. It DOES fit in the lift but not out of the front door unless folded never mind, will just have to unfold it at the door, better this way round than it not fitting in the lift. It is a dream to push, so light am really pleased with it!

Catch up time?.

MrsMcJnr · 12/05/2009 22:46

Silkcushion ? the cats are avoiding me tonight (angry with me because I let a tradesman make a noise here all day fitting mozie nettings) so hopefully tonight is not the night ? phew! DH continues to bug me just found him taking a load of tea bags from my stash of hard to come by British stuff for his Mum and 4 friends? apartment I know that sounds selfish but they can buy Tetley or a million other brands here why do I have to share my Typhoo that I can?t buy here? Again, just makes me feel like I am at the bottom of the heap can?t remember last time DH cuddled me in bed and we sleep in the same one we used to be a really affectionate couple, sometimes I worry that we are in trouble How do you pronounce Eleri? Looks pretty

Insy ? I?m hoping that I go into labour at night, that way I can get on with it on my own for a while, not sure hope I?d cope with DS in labour hope your plans work out the way you want Laila/Layla is nice, reminds me of the Eric Clapton song

Lauraloo ? glad it looks as if the GTT went well. Sorry to hear about the migraine and the cramps sounds like your cat is keeping his eye on you all the best for the scan tomorrow. I went to Bravissimo in Glasgow at 36 weeks but 38 weeks is preferable. I keep planning to do the massage but never get round to it, more fool me. One comment made at my AN class about it was that if you do the massage, you know what the sensations feel like better and are therefore more aware of how you push. I might get round to it yet.

Ineedmore ? hope you?ve been taking it easy today. Glad to hear the MW appointment went well. Sorry that your SPD is bad though thanks for your kind words, DH is clearly just on a irritating roll It?s nice to know we are nearly ?term? isn?t it?

Ermintrude ? I have visions of all of us with cats watching them watching us and us all wondering if our time is near? hope today wasn?t too boring!

Tee ? sorry to hear you are so tired, not long now! I like your name; I would have been Adam had I been a boy.

Effielou ? yay for a good night your DS sounds cute mine wants to kiss my belly all the time now but he has to bare it first which can be a bit embarrassing when we are out and about! Like all your names, sorry, I am no help!

Littlesarah ? hope the dentist and the comedian went well!

Choccie ? LOL at your DS? loitering I remember when my Mum went into labour with my sister, my other sister and I were so excited, we were 9 and 7 DH and I speaking but not connecting Poor you with being up so long in the night with your DS2, as you say, your DH could have done some of that shift surely

Bigcar ? hope the scan goes well and that your baby isn?t too big. I have similar concerns about my appointment next Tues. I?ve started having ?day mares? that they won?t let me leave again after the appointment I think my DH is like yours, thinks that he has weeks yet! My DS likes following me to the loo too, and pulling some paper off for me

Naat ? all the best for your scan tomorrow hope you got there on a 1/3 of your dissertation. Nope, no apology nice names I think my bust has shrunk a little bit recently too, not for long!

June ? my back jumped from a 32 to a 38 last pg, I?m a 36 at the mo. My sis never went back to her pre pg back size (I can?t judge as only just finished b/f DS when got pg) I got a couple of nursing bras at 36 weeks and just wore them after that. I knew I wouldn?t be in Bravissimo (where I got mine) after that but I did subsequently order more as I needed a larger cup size (K cup! ) hope you had fun with your friend.

Doris ? your folks sound fab any progress on names?

Off to bed now sleep well all.
