I don't think I can make Reading either, it's just so expensive by train.

LBOT, Yay for being 30 weeks!!

Nat, I hope that your period starts soon. Have you been worried about anything that could have delayed it?

Oh Nat - what a stress . Fingers crossed it's a false alarm. I know it's hard but try not to worry too much about how you would cope until you know whether there is anything to worry about. DS2 sounds determined to distract you .

Ses - it sounds like you and Owen are doing fantastically well and you have plenty of support on here for ignoring the hv. I'm shocked by the number of hv's that seem to push new mums to give formula - my mum didn't breast feed and I only have a couple of friends who did so I'm glad I'll have the wagon to turn to for advice.

Glask - sounds like a great opportunity for you to help other mums - go for it!

Diege - hope LO gets into position soon. I'll have my house ready to act as MN HQ (aka place to bake brownies and make tea) in case mini-diege decides to make an entrance in York and we all take shifts as your birth partner .

Kayz - don't worry about that pesky lb, all the biking will soon get it back off.

Morning everyone else

NatalieJane · 15/05/2009 11:27

So sorry, last message was to LBOX

Hi again IDOB!

Diege · 15/05/2009 11:27

Bloody hell Nat!! . Having said that, if you haven't had any accidents, dips etc, then I would say it's pretty impossible that you could be pregnant, so please don't get too worried just yet. Lots of breathing and rational thoughts...we're all here when you need us!
KAYZ, love the baby in pram design for cake - it will looks great!
GLASK, that's great news about bf opportunities; would be a shame for you not to share your wisdom and experiences with others in the same boat
SES, sounds like you're doing really well with the feeding; that gap between feeds is great in that he must be getting what he needs. With dd1 allthe feeds seemed to blur into one in the early weeks, with probably about 20 mins between end of one and start of other (partly why I changed to bottles with dds2 & 3 if I'm honest).
Thanks for reassurances about baby's lie. Think I was just shocked and a bit disappointed as head had been very low down last 2 visits, so why he's decided to come out and shift around is any's guess! He does seem to be quite long, so maybe with my short-arse torso his head by my hip and legs up diagionally is space maximisation? My friend who is a week ahead of me has also been told yesterday her baby is in the same position, although she has a planned section so no big concern! I think all my worries came out last night to dh (childcare one a biggy; there's literally no-one we can ask) and he has been great, so at least it's all out in the open and we can address my anxieties!
Off to do a bit of hands and knees in front of the telly - can't bear thought of litchen floor!

lastboxoftampons · 15/05/2009 11:31

Oh, yes, meant to say don't worry about the 1lb Kay - it'll be gone (and taking some friends with it!) in no time!

Nat - really hoping your period is just delayed. Fingers crossed for you.

RE: the buggy. I love the Micralite, but don't want the extra carrycot bit as we're a bit short on storage space. DH has reservations about the steering column as well As if HE'S the one who's been researching!!! We were in Mothercare world not too long ago and go to try out the Bee and the Britax, as well as MC's own brand that's similar to the Britax, think it's called "My Choice" or something? Liked the Britax the best out of those - we're not sure about the size of the Bee as it seems a bit too small for a toddler, and the MC one was heavier than the Britax (not to mention more expensive). I think I'm happy with the Britax, there's just too much info out there, it's easy to get overwhelmed!

Hi IDOB

glaskham · 15/05/2009 11:52

Nat..... hoping its a false alarm for you, i completeley understand the feeling of not being in a position to have another child at all- i think all my problems this pregnancy was my body saying 'no more' aswell as not wanting to put the family through all that again. will keep everything crossed for you!!

LBOT- prams, prams, prams.... dont get me started- i'm sure you'll make a good choice... i have been through so many prams its rediculous, and its only now that i have my Luna that i finally seem happy with all it does!! I've found my match and hopefully you'll ahve yours in the britax... and dont forget- what works for one, doesn't always work for others... i mean the luna is perfect for me in all aspects, but i know lots of people who've found their perfect pram in something else!! good luck on the pram hunt though... and i wouldn't worry too much about you're DH- after all it'll be you who does most of the pushing anyway i'm sure as long as he's happy pushing it then you're fine... my DH just always says 'if they're comfy in it i'm happy'... so i'm V.lucky there!!

Have emailed BfN about training to become a BF supporter and they are sending me out the course details and getting me in touch with the local BfN tutor too- its actually happening!!

SesIsNowCountingdownthedays · 15/05/2009 11:54

Well he finally finished feeding at 11.10! DH is now trying to settle him in the Moses basket whilst I get dressed.

Nat - fingers crossed here for a false alarm too.

LBOT - 30 weeks!! Yay!!
We've been out twice with the vigour into town. V easy to manoevre and he settles v well in it. Glad we went for it

IDOB - I now have a vision of a Diege home birth at your place with surrounding brownies and wagoners

Right I must go and help DH as DS still not settled! Probably last thing DH needs is to be sat by a grizzling newborn as he was out with the NCT guys last night..

NatalieJane · 15/05/2009 11:54

Kay, nope no worries, am hoping it's all the late nights/drinking, plus as much as I don't feel it, I suppose the post-natal bit can still be rolled out as an excuse. Thing is I have always 'just known' deep inside when I've been pregnant, and I've none of that, but I go round in circles with it, am I not getting the 'feeling' because I really don't want to be pregnant? And the symptoms, maybe I'm getting a cold, haven't had one for a while, the CM, again can be blamed on being PN and obviously period is late, so there is bound to be an upset in my cycle. The nipples, I know they leaked tiny amounts for a few months after I finished feeding DS2.

I just don't know what to do, if I am, I can't have it, and I'm being all brave and thinking the 'T' thing that I can't even bring myself to say, but I don't think I could go through with it, and if I did, I don't know if I could live with myself (am not against it for anyone BTW, just my personal being, I really don't know if I could physically swallow those tablets knowing what they do)

LBOX, we tried DS2 in the Bee in the shop when looking at them, and he was so comfy in it, and I still say I really don't like it, it looks horrible, but I wouldn't be without it now! But then I used to say that about the old Microlite!

NatalieJane · 15/05/2009 11:58

Morning Glask and Ses

Ses you've made it out of the house? Twice?!! Bloody hell! Think DS1 was about 3yo before I ventured out!!

lastboxoftampons · 15/05/2009 12:08

good to hear, Ses, thanks! Also, LOL about your DH out with his NCT buddies! And he didn't want to go at first!

Nat and glask thanks about the pram info. I find all of this "stuff" really hard to prepare - as you can't possibly know what will work for your baby until he's here! But then again, I guess it's also a case of they 'get what they're given' - ie, they won't know any better!

glaskham · 15/05/2009 12:14

Nat- I have to be honest my thinking towards a 'surprise' pregnancy would be exactly the same- even now just imagining it i probably would want to go for a 'T' word that i can't bring myself to say either- thing is I am fairly against them on a whole- but I honestly dont think i'd be able to bring another into the world knowing it'd change things tenfold for the whole family... the added stress for me and DH would be enormous and would cause stress and tension on our relationship, but at the same time I wouldn't be able to live with what i'd done to my baby IYKWIm... so i 110% understand your train of thought.... thing is, and i know this will sound very stupid, but try not to think too deeply about things until you've dona a test.... it could well be a false alarm and you worrying about it right now could be delaying AF....?? possibilities?? and also you say you've been extra extra careful, which tells me it most likely is a false alarm... i ahd a false alarm when DD1 was about 18mths (and we weren't planning another child then) and the day after i got a negative test AF arrived...

Ses- if he's going that long between feeds then you're milk is obviously doing enough to fill him, thats a positive!! I know you shouldn't be looking at times, but the fact he's going that amount of time tells me he's getting what he needs from you to allow him to settle and sleep very well. i'm sure you're just feeding on demand and not expecting him to be going 3 hours or anything... Ruby is 12 weeks today and has the ability to go around 3-4hrs between feeds if we're out etc (only in the last few weeks), but if we're home and not doing anything she'll happily feed every hour or so, taking a full feed each time... I've never had babies who would always go 3hrs or anything, but they always had the ability to from around 6-8 weeks old.

Kayzr · 15/05/2009 12:17

Yeah periods always tend to arrive the day after you do the test or the day you buy a test.

lardybump · 15/05/2009 12:59

Nat my god I really hope it is a false alarm but if not you will cope..

Ses he may not be feeding for the whole time he is on your breast. My Owen was on for an hour at a time when my milk came in but when I checked he had stopped swallowing half way through. So although he was still sucking for england he wasnt' feeding the whole time. I agree that as long as you feed for as long and as often as he wants then it will all be ok he knows when he is hungry. DD lost a lot more than your DS at birth and she is fine now so please dont worry you are doing a great job and for him to be going so long between feeds is great. DS is still on two hours and he is 12 weeks tomorrow... However

Wait for it wait for

Day 4 of going through the night here...... Yay...... unfortunatly DD had me up all night so in the end got her into my bed and I ended sleeping of the floor because she was a fidgit bum all night grrrrrrrrrr!!!

Sorry for typos feeding ds as we speek...

GYo · 15/05/2009 13:16

Crikey Nat, got my fingers, legs and feet crossed for you ....

LBOT- in my NCT grp we have a Britax, Micralite and Bee!! So I've seen them all in action! They are all good for their different reasons THink each pram does certain things better than others. My Bee is defo the best re size and weight. We go out for lunch and find it a nightmare parking all the prams and everyone says mine is the best re size then I'd say that that britax is better for where there are rugged paths etc(the bee is best for smooth pavements and shopping centres!). The micralite seems a good allrounder to be honest but it does seem large with the carrycot on, but then they all do.

Wouldnbt worry about it being good for a toddler, seems most people who buy bigger prams ditch them for light maclarens by the time babies are toddlers anyway! My 2yr niece fitted into my bee very nicely though.

sorry another long post

Ses- hope you are doing ok today. Hang in there

OP posts:
idreamofbeanie · 15/05/2009 13:41

Hi LBOT - we're planning to go for the Britax too. We do a lot of walking in the country and I didn't think the Bee was as good for off roading. I also had a look at the my choice but it seemed a bit flimsy and DP preferred the Britax so that was an easy decision. I just can't decide whether to get the carrycot, what are you doing?

LB - congratulations on Owen sleeping through

sorkycakey · 15/05/2009 15:28

OMFG!
Nat I feel for you sweetie, hope it's a negative result.

I'd rather chew my own arse off than be pg again.

Well the 12 week growth spurt is almost killing me she feeds for 6-7 times during the night. She only sleeps for 20 minutes in the morning and the same in the afternoon.
I'm knackered and hoping that by the weekend-end she'll be back to normal.

That, or I'll sell her in Adtrader

Hello's to each and everyone of you.

juleswastink · 15/05/2009 15:34

hi

wow so many posts!!

glas - that is great news good luck with being bf counsellor
you have got a busy day good luck with shoes, air bed .....

i received pink toy cart for her toys and crayola clock for bracken room

glaskham · 15/05/2009 15:58

jesus tink- is DD2 really 6mths old already??!! thats flown by!!

Sorky- PMSL at chewing your own arse off!! and adtrader... I keep saying DS & DD1 are gonna go in the freeads!!

Just got in... Went to clarks, got doodles each for DS & DD1 and new school shoes for DS- luckily it was an outlet shop so it was only £36 for all 3 pairs!! Tesco, i managed to get some cot bed sheets for DD2 (as i stupidly got just cot sheets when i was PG and they dont fit), airbed, bouncy castle for the DC's aswell as some bits and bobs of food that i really didn't need but got anyway, and after doubling my clubcard vouchers to spend on toys it only cost £30!! Bargains all round!! Then last night I used some more of my clubcard vouchers to buy DH's ticket for him to get into Flamingo Land next w/end with the DC's while I'm at York meet-up!!

Kayzr · 15/05/2009 16:01

Tink's DD2 can't be 6 months, DS2 is only 5 months and he's a month older!! Tink I wish you loads of luck but it might be easier to wean DD1!! When I try to give DS2 food DS1 sits there with his mouth open!!

sorkycakey · 15/05/2009 16:05

blimey Tink 6 months has flown by hasn't it?
yay for bargains Glask
While I'm here glask, the clothes are in a huge bag which you might struggle to carry round York. Any suggestions?

glaskham · 15/05/2009 16:06

I didn't think she was that much older than DD2.... but couldn't be bothered to go back a few pages and look at the dates!!

I've been told to still wean DD2 at 6mths, but it's gonna feel so wrong if she's only around 10lb... I'm gonna start BLW i think from around 7mths if she's looking ready for it... the later the better for me... I have such a nice HV who actually agree's with BLW and extended BF (as in after 6/12mths) again!! She's fab!!

glaskham · 15/05/2009 16:08

erm..... I could send a courier if you could put them in a box? and if you had a day to stay indoors?... i wasn't planning to bring a pram/buggy to space-save in betty's, and DH isn't parking in York so can't swap them from one car to another.... do you want me to email you? or email me... [email protected]

sorkycakey · 15/05/2009 16:09

Ah cross post, I thought that was quick. All my days are a blur

Kayzr · 15/05/2009 16:11

I know. I read Glask's post and thought OMG how fast has that 6 months gone. Then it clicked that DS2 is older and only 5 months!
