beckymumof3 · 09/05/2005 15:58

SH actually, i'm surprised you are not booked in for early scans anyway.

sweetheart · 09/05/2005 16:02

NTY hasn't revealed her name yet to my knowledge becky.

I won't go over the whole story again but basically I went for my 16 week check last time and there was no heartbeat. Baby had been dead for 3 weeks already.

I have already had one scan, still doesn't make waiting for the next one any easier I'm affraid.

beckymumof3 · 09/05/2005 16:07

How long til your next scan?

sweetheart · 09/05/2005 16:10

2 weeks today - seems like ages away!!! If my symptoms are still totally gone by the end of the week I might phone my mw. Trouble is I don't want to look neurotic!!!

OP posts:
beckymumof3 · 09/05/2005 16:31

I wouldn't worry about that! It's not as if you have got no real reason to worry is it! You have lost a baby before and therefore IMHO you are well entitled to be worried and neurotic. Give them a call by the middle of the week or you may have to go in 'after the weekend'.

sweetheart · 09/05/2005 16:39

I'm trying to wait for this cold to go so that I can decide if it's just coz I'm feeling pretty crap at the moment anyway.

Thanks for the ear though - always helps when you've got someone to moan at!!!!

Oh ok - I'm NTY!

Have been busy redecorating what was our study/office and which will be ds's new bedroom. As a result total chaos at home with furniture stored in random places around the house to keep that room empty while we work on it. Once we get ds installed in his new room his old one will be used to store the study stuff (currently residing in our dining room which is masquerading as temporary study) until building work is complete - work should be starting on new permanent study extension later this month. Then we need to decorate and fit out the new study/office, and, all being well, ds's old room will eventually be used for the new baby

Haven't really had a lot to report anyway - just lots of chasing people to try and get a booking in appointment before it's too late for scans. Finally managed to get in touch with midwife by phone, and went through the paperwork etc yesterday (yes Sunday!). Had blood tests too, and as a result my arm is really sore today from the elbow down. Now just need to phone private scan place and arrange Nuchal for about 3 weeks time (but can't do it from open plan office without anyone overhearing, which is a bit of a problem as haven't told them here yet, and won't until we know everything is ok).

Actually starting to feel PG now as waistbands getting tighter (or perhaps that's just me eating too much - I can't get away with skipping breakfast like I usually do any more).

I told a couple of friends the news on Friday night - and ds told my neighbour that he's going to be a big brother. So what with that and the midwife parking outside the house with a "midwife on call" sign on here windscreen yesterday it's no real secret anymore!

sweetheart · 09/05/2005 16:45

Oh LunarSea, congrats!!!!

Must be great to finally come out of the pregnancy closet!!!!

Harrizeb · 09/05/2005 17:21

Can I just add a little message here please? congratulations to you all and I'm so sorry that it's a nervous time for so many.

One of my mw's said to me 'I would rather have a lady in here every week than miss the one that needed our help' which made me feel so much less neroutic about phoning and asking to be monitored.

I hope you get your reasurance soon SH.

best wishes to you all for healthy pg's H x

Nemo1977 · 09/05/2005 19:53

MINNIE1 · 10/05/2005 08:40

Morning all,

Today i am 6+3 and have MS aghhh i though i was getting away with it as i have been feeling good and eating loads.. A sure its a good sign but feel awful.

Nemo1977 · 10/05/2005 08:45

morning all
well blazing rows are ensuing in the nemo household. I am so stressed about this bloody appointment and there is no reason to be not like they can scan me there n then. Causing huge arguements between mr nemo and I. I asked him to take ds downstairs while i tried to destress so what does he do..disappears onto computer then comes back and starts moaning asking when im going to get up then put all the folded washing on the bed around me so i couldnt relax. I then decided to go and lie in ds bed where ds came in and headbutted me...of course i then burst into tears. I just dont know why he wouldnt leave me alone in the first place as now all im doing is crying and feeling 100 times worse. Am convinced baby is dead and to be honest i dont blame it for giving up as whats the point of coming into a house like this.

george32 · 10/05/2005 08:46

WoooHooo - LunerSea, congrats for coming clean finally
Nemo, so glad you are going to start sobbing til they give you a scan. Tell them about your tummy pains as well.
Thanks Harrizeb, think it is quite a tense time for all of us on here. Hope you are getting on OK.
SH, I'm sorry you are feeling so worried. Hopefully all your symptoms are back today for you.
The countdown to my scan has started, only 2 days to go..........

MINNIE1 · 10/05/2005 08:59

Nemo1977,
(((((((((((((((((((((hug))))))))))))))))))) you poor thing.... I order you to go back to bed and rest. What is it about men they just dont get it do they, my dp is the same.
Please dont think your baby is dead as i am very positive that your little bean is swimming around.
Just tell them all to BACK OFF or eles.

george32 · 10/05/2005 09:07

Nemo, I'm so sorry, had a crossed post & I didn't notice.
You have to get a scan sorted out today. I suggest you tell the MW or GP exactly what you have just said to us. Try to get them to call the EPU for you.
Even if the scan isn't for today, it will put your mind at ease just knowing that you have a date to look to.
Nemo, the likelyhod is that everything is fine and your bean is bobbing about at the moment wondering why you are so sad.
As much as they try, men just can't understand what it feels like. Sounds like you need a really big hug.

Booklover · 10/05/2005 09:20

Hi girls, it looks like I can join this thread now, was quite surprised how many people are posting on this one already, I only found out last week (baby due 21.12.). DS is 13 months and I am a bit worried about the close age gap and was quite relieved that some of you seem to be in a similar position. CONGRATULATIONS to you all!

ninah · 10/05/2005 09:28

Congratulations and welcome Booklover!
Nemo, I do hope you get a scan soon to set your mind at rest. Good luck.

sweetheart · 10/05/2005 09:31

Nemo,

((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))))

Tell you dh not to be so insensitive and to let you rest. Tell him it's not good for the bean for you to get so stressed out.

I'm sure everything is fine with the bump - and once you've had that scan your going to demand today I will add you to my club of neurotic mothers-to-be - I'll make badges and everything!!!

Honestly though hun, make sure you convey just how hard this is for you - only a monster could refuse you a scan knowing what you have been through!!!!

What time is your appt???

OP posts:
ChaCha · 10/05/2005 10:17

Good morning everyone, just a quick visit en route to m/s routine.
Nemo, I'm sorry that you're not feeling so good but you mustn't stress, it's not good for you! Men just don't understand and can seem insensitive to say the least. Sending you {{HUGS}}. Is there a relative/friend that your DS can stay with for a few hours to give you a bit of a rest and some peace and quiet?? Might do the trick, you definitely need some TLC

Sweetheart, I hope you don't mind my asking but what was the cause of m/c? Did you find out?

Also wanted to mention that they detected the heartbeat with me at 5+3 and that was with normal u/s!!

MINNIE1 · 10/05/2005 10:33

ChaCha
thats great about the heartbeat, wow

Booklover, Welcome

I have my scan appointment for next tuesday. and i will have my house clean and tidy b4 then to keep my mind of it.

sweetheart · 10/05/2005 10:42

cha cha - my m/c was due to the baby's heart having abnormalaties.

He had a whole in the heart and alos his tubes hadn't developed properly. It seems to be a one off unfortunate occurance but they can't completly rule out anything happening again as my father was born with a whole in his heart too. They estimate a 5-10% chance of it happening again.

OP posts:
beckymumof3 · 10/05/2005 10:47

Congrats Booklover.

Nemo, hope you have had your appointment and are now feeling better. My DH is a bit of a new man this time round - just a shame its taken so many kids to get there!! They don't seem to think of you as pregnant until there is a visable bump - i've explained to him a million times that I am just as pregnant at 4 weeks as I am at 34 and feel the same (though slightly less heavy )

BTW on the subject of heaviness I was reading about weight gain in a pg book and it said 0-12 wks 0 weight gain How can that be when you get an immediate mammoth appetite (or is that just me?)

beckymumof3 · 10/05/2005 10:49

SH bearing that in mind I am gobsmacked that they haven't been keeping an eye on you and scanning as and when. Maternity services in this country are a shambles at the moment and it makes me so

beckymumof3 · 10/05/2005 10:49

sorry to over do the emoticons

sweetheart · 10/05/2005 10:55

becky - I have already had a scan and will be having another in 2 weeks. Plus I'm getting a specialist scan done at 18 weeks at Guy's hospital in London.

All in all I feel like they are monitering me but one scan a month still doesn't stop the 3 weeks worry in between each one I'm afraid!!!

I feel very like in comparison with Nemo for example - now her maternity service really has been a let down!!!!

Do you think she's gone for her appt????

Good Luck Nemo
