Welcome back Nemo!!

Bonkerz ~ I'm sure you'll see the heartbeat in your next scan, my first scan was too early for a heartbeat and I had an empty sac. My second scan at around 6 weeks showed the heartbeat. I'm sure you'll be fine, have got my fingers crossed for you!x

DQ ~ so glad you got your tablets, I'm sure they wont do any harm to the baby. If you feel better then your baby will too!!

I had my m/w appointment today, blood tests etc... had an HIV test which is really really scary and now I am petrified even though I have no reason to be - its so silly. They told me I could have the anti sickness tablets but I said that I would try and stick it out a bit longer, but they told me to take some time off work and rest as I can't go on like I am, which is just impossible with the work load sitting on my desk and no-one else to do it. Especially when no-one knows although I think one of the bosses has guessed and keeps dropping hints!

I am taking Folic Acid and they told me today that the baby will get all the goodness from them and my back up supplies which just leaves us lacking but not the baby.

I have never heard of that doppler thingy and it looks fantastic!!! I am seriously thinking of renting one! Has anyone rented one before?
How wonderful it will be to hear that tiny heartbeat going!!!!

Nemo1977 · 04/05/2005 18:08

u can buy dopplers that midwives use on ebay for around £70 and the bonus is u can then sell it on again and prob get most of your money back...not that ive been looking or anything

dramaqueen72 · 04/05/2005 18:19

you do have to be careful tho, there are alot of 'fetal heart listeners' out there that are basically microphones and CRAP, -i should know, had one last pg!!LOL real good dopplers are v hard to come by, my midwife said hers was approx £200 new to give you an idea of price new.

george32 · 04/05/2005 18:46

Nemo, so glad to see that you are still here. Now get down to the GPs and start sobbing!!

Bonkerz, I agree with everyone else that to see the yolk sac is a great sign. I'm sure it will be fine for you next week.
Dq, I'm so sorry about your m/s, it sounds dreadful. I know I'm glad to get a bit (to re-assure me that all is OK) but don't think I want it to get that bad. I hope your meds work. Were you this bad before?
I'm also being very good & taking Folic Acid, a daily dose of pregnacare plus a shot of B6. I think the B6 is supposed to help my hormones, who knows!!

ChaCha · 04/05/2005 19:10

Hi there everyone, just popping over from the November thread, even though i'm still due 1st December Just over 10 weeks now, am desperate to get to 12 am counting the days.

It's great to read all your news, sending you all lots of hugs... ((HUG)))

MINNIE1 · 05/05/2005 08:46

Good Morning all,

Went to the nurse in my local doctors to give my bloods... God i hate needles, But i wont have to do them again (thank god) nearly passed out and all (what a wimp i am) I had a good chat with her and she said no lifting and no hoovering what so ever. DP is thrilled to be doing all that lol.... Roll on 12 weeks please........

scully · 05/05/2005 09:39

no lifting and no hoovering - hadn't heard the hoovering before! not that it gets done regularly anyway don't think my approx 13kg dd will be too thrilled to hear the no lifting

Nemo1977 · 05/05/2005 11:09

lol scully i agree my ds is about 26lbs and constantly picking up swinging etc...what can u do..lol

beckymumof3 · 05/05/2005 11:26

Hi all - the only concern I would think of WRT the doppler is that what if you can't pick up a heartbeat?? Doesn't mean there is anything wrong (could be a crap machine, baby in funny position, you aren't experienced in doing it etc) but imagine the worry it would create...

I'm with the 'no symptoms but sore boobs' brigade but also feeling knackered now. I'm taking (I think) pregnacare vits - they were on a 3 for 2 offer at boots

Starting to think about things I can do later on.. pregnancy yoga, aquanatal classes etc - anyone else done/thinking of doing anything? Although I have had 3 before I haven't ever done any of these pregnancy indulgance things but am gonna do it all this time as it will prob. be the last! What about the birth? Anyone making any plans or is it too early days?

As for the shopping!!! I can't believe how much more choice there is now than 4 years ago when I had my last - I haven't a clue what pram etc to get. Already bought a maternity top .

Sorry for the waffling

scully · 05/05/2005 12:17

I've had a look at clothes on Ebay, & pulled out the ones I wore 3.5 yrs ago to have a look, that's as far as I've got!
Yes Nemo, my dd's favourite word is 'cuddle'. She's light for her age but much prefers mum's cuddles to dad's!
Don't think I'll be buying too much baby stuff, although having willpower is easier said than done! & a few friends have finally got around to having children, so I might be borrowing things off them for a change rather than the other way around!

ninah · 05/05/2005 16:06

off to doc's for first time
had a rotten time with dp so haven't got round to it before
After a bad start this morning, feeling great and excited again
I think he may tell me I'm further on than I think .. I'm HUUUGE!
wish me luck. Just remembered I've got old knicks on. Damn.

ninah · 05/05/2005 16:07

I mean old as in a bit frayed, - not old as in grubby- obviously!
they are not bus accident knicks, put it that way

ninah · 05/05/2005 16:08

oh god, you guys don't want to know about my pants, I'll stop wittering about and just go .. right, off now!

Nemo1977 · 05/05/2005 16:10

Nemo1977 · 05/05/2005 16:24

ebbie funny u mention the pains as i have had really bad pains unlike any of my other pregnancies. I dont have cysts [as far as i know] but also no bleeding. Dont really know what to make of them so on tues am asking mw can i be reffered for early scan even tho my 12 wk is booked for 2nd june.

ebbie22 · 05/05/2005 16:44

Have you seen ur midwife yet? They could just be the baby bedding down, but i dont feel overly confident on that one myself.....

Nemo1977 · 05/05/2005 16:48

no not seen anyone apart from gp yet. Seeing mw on tues and am going to tell her and see what she says...am trying not to think of negatives as have already had 3mcs..

ebbie22 · 05/05/2005 17:25

Pls dont think of any thing bad until you know for sure..but i would phone your midwife tomorrow and explain how you are feeling etc....they should be able to help..
