another one who's constantly hungry here - and it's contributing alot to my size!!!

Ebbie, it's normal in my area to not see your mw again until 16 weeks. Not sure about the pain though - sorry!!!

LunarSea · 18/05/2005 09:59

16 weeks is normal here too, though bloods and booking scans happen before that.

ebbie22 · 18/05/2005 09:59

The pain used to be like period pain but now its constant even when i rest....
I saw my midwife 2 wks ago,due to me phoning her ie the pain, took a urine sample with me but she said no need to test it,wont be seeing anybody else until my 14 wk scan, then bk to midwife at 16 wks?I guss thts when i will be having my bloods and booking in do u think?
wITH my dd everything was different and i didnt feel awkward.....

sweetheart · 18/05/2005 10:35

Ebbie,

If the pain has got worse than you should ring her back or try and get an appointment. I have been worried about looking stupid too but at the end of the day it's their job to be there for you.

Do you have just one mw or is it community midwives?? Mine is community and I would try and see another if I wasn't finding one of them to be helpful!!!

OP posts:
sweetheart · 18/05/2005 10:36

also I had my bloods and booking in done at 8 weeks - so they could sort a 12 weeks scan. I know it varies alot around the country but if your worried just ring and query it with them - I'm surprised they have left you so much in the dark!!!

ebbie22 · 18/05/2005 10:45

Thanks,i am going to ring tomorrow as so much to do today and cant just drop everything just like that, even with all my pain,i can handle it in the day its at night when it gets really bad xx

MINNIE1 · 18/05/2005 10:59

ebbie22, Ring your doctor or MW, You should not be in this pain. My local hospital would not scan b4 20 weeks and it is all doctors app b4 then!! So i went to a different one!.
Hope you feel better soon.

dramaqueen72 · 18/05/2005 11:39

gosh dont you wish there was a standard? i cant believe the difference in our care across the country.

MINNIE1 · 18/05/2005 11:52

dramaqueen72,
there should be somthing! I opted to pay for my care, The total cost for my doctor is going to be €2000, and VHI will cover my birth and stay in hospital. I gave up smoking this year (in my 5th month now) so if i can afford to smoke i can afford to pay for a private doc. I went public last time and i waited 8 hours to find i mc and 13 hours for my d&c!!! I was not going to wait 20 wks for a scan this time round.

expatinscotland · 18/05/2005 11:55

Went private as well. The one scan I'm being offered is at 17 weeks, and the booking in isn't till a fortnight later. Sorry, but I think that's just too long.

LunarSea · 18/05/2005 12:10

We're having to pay for scans too - neuchal one, and possibly 4D one later. Hopefully won't be having to pay for anything else, but wouldn't be confident about that as according to surgery there are always more people wanting midwife's appointments than there are appointments to go round

Bonkerz · 18/05/2005 12:19

afternoon all. Well i weighed myself last night and not surprisingly i have lost a total of 8lbs three weeks. I am obese so im sure the baby is not starving but i just cant eat proper meal at the moment. Avoided eating again this morning but have just eaten 3 packs of plain crisps! They tasted so good but i know i will be sick later because of them!!

Hi all, looks like I wasn't the only one hitting my bed early last night.
OMG, I can hardly keep my eyes open at the moment.
My driving has become terrible. Managed to hit a kerb on a straight road yesterday. Oooops!

I think it must have been the talk about lucozade yesterday but I really need want fizzy pop. Ribena & lemonade is favourite today so I'm off to find some.

Hope everyone is OK & not suffering too much this morning.

dramaqueen72 · 19/05/2005 09:22

morning ladies. ugh george fizzy stuff making me feel sick at the thought! but you know good luck to you if its what you need. isnt it mad what we want? i am eating all the time too, just nibbling stuff but ALL the time.

george32 · 19/05/2005 09:36

Oh yes, eating all the time here too. Was grumbling last night to DP about the fact that I feel sick but feel the need to eat to take the sick feeling away, but I don't want to eat because I feel sick!! Argh!!
Stopped eating chocolate though which is really weird!!

Oooh, postman has just arrived with a lovely Serephine parcel for me - hurrah, clothes that might fit!!

Nemo1977 · 19/05/2005 09:39
