Bonkerz, that is such brilliant news. It is so exciting to see the heartbeat isn't it
Minnie, is your scan next week? Can't remember now.
Hi Hereshoping, glad to see you here. Have you taken my new years eve slot then?
Do EDD dates change quite a lot then? I should make it back to a Dec due date if I wait long enough then? Bit of a range at the mo from 19th Dec to 2nd Jan!!!
I've been out to try to find some clothes that I might be able to do up and it is so hard!! I just wanted some plain trousers with some kind of elastic/give round the waist and obviously they are so un-cool that nowhere had anything like them. Ended up buying some maternity trousers but no way I'm wearing them to work or they will give the game away straight away. Anyone else having a problem with clothes, or is it just me?
Oh been meaning to ask, anyone got any more tips for constipation. It's still not moving!!
I've got to run out of intestine sooner or later!!

dramaqueen72 · 13/05/2005 17:17

george have I already mentioned my seraphine jeans ?? I'm wearing them now actually. they DONT look maternity at all, nor do they have folds of 'extra' fabric giving the game away.......but they are pricey...I just know I;m going to be glad of them after the birth, its soul distroying having to wear maternity clothes afterwards and NO way do you 'slip' back into normal clothes ala super model.....
actually I'm slightly concerned about my digestive system too now! its only the granny smoths apples that make me go at all I think and I cant begin to tell you how rare its becoming!! maybe after the m/s stops (it has to stop right?) i will go eat curry or something. i know its normal (what to expect - the gospel of pg books- keeps telling me so) but that doesnt really help.

okay so whens everyones booking visit if you havent already been? its a real 'good step' and i love it. 12wks and everyone suddenly starts acting like youre seriously pg! I am eight tomorrow and B O Y, is it draggggggggggggggggging.
eight weeks sounds so early and yet I've known since 9dpo, so its been AGES. HURRY UP JUNE!

Bonkerz · 13/05/2005 17:32

ive got my booking in on 23rd May and then my 10 week scan should be first week in june! Will also have an appointment than for my assessment at epu and will see a consultant there. I do feel alot better knowing the EPU will take on my care as last time i saw a midwife but had no checks etc and had to have bloods done at a clinic where i watied for 2 hours to be seen!!

george32 · 13/05/2005 17:59

Right, you have me convinced DQ! What are the sizes like, do they come big or are they small (I have rather a large bottom to fit in!!).
I'm going to order them later on tonight & then I will stop moaning I have nothing to wear!!
What do you wear on top to cover the front bit? Oh god, can someone just come round and dress me please???

Bonkerz, if your 10wk scan is the first wk of June, that means I'll be 10 wks then too! That doesn't seem so far off at all.

LunarSea · 13/05/2005 18:22

Had a booking in session (which was just paperwork and blood tests) last week - you have to have that here before they can do anything about booking scans. Now nothing until next lot of blood tests 6th June, and scan 2 days after that. Don't see the midwife again until 18 weeks.

george - it's not exactly a trendy place to shop, but Bon Marche have some stretchy trousers. I actually got some nice ones (via Ebay - I couldn't afford them new) by Formes which have panels with give at the side, and an internal adjustment system, which look perfectly normal as long as you wear something at least hip length over them. Not that I actually need to be wearing them yet, but it won't be long I'm sure, so I thought I'd better get a couple of things in so I didn't suddenly get left with nothing that fits.

Nemo1977 · 13/05/2005 18:32

my next mw appointment is 7th june when i will be 12wks. Not long at all really..although my next scan is in august

dramaqueen72 · 13/05/2005 22:10

oh nemo, jealous! youre all 12 wks before me!

george, sigh, honestly girl, i keep telling you, the 'clever' front design really needs hardly any covering, i bet 99% of your tops are already perfect length. you dont need hip length ones or anything. i found their sizes alittle tight on my not so perfect thighs so opted for the larger of the two sizes i normally float between.
i returned one size and within 48hrs the new ones were here, i was impressed. if i had to grumble about them at all, i would say they are cut quite hipster low, so if i dont think about it when i bend down i could show off a builders bum!!LOL, i have to kinda hoist them before bending . i do like them anyhow. and the no questions asked refund is there if you dont. (think they must know about fickle pg women!) relieved its the season (or near enough) for drawstring trousers and such like. and floaty tunic tops....
we should start our toilet paper tuesdays on here! its something thats done all over the us sites as you prob know....every tuesday you measure your bump, approx belly button level, around with loo roll and count how many sheets round you are. obviously i suggest we all get to definate bump stage first, and not just my saggy last baby flab measurement! the funny thing is however far apart measurements are by the end you all end up very close

dramaqueen72 · 13/05/2005 22:11

thats USA sites and not us sites.duh!

LunarSea · 14/05/2005 09:38

Um - do all loo roll have the same size sheets?

dramaqueen72 · 14/05/2005 11:07

i think so, pretty much!

beckymumof3 · 14/05/2005 18:46

Re: Constipation - anyone tried tinned prunes? An oldie but a goodie.

Also how about cutting down/out meat? I don't ever really suffer from constipation and wonder if its because i'm a veggie. Things seem to go 'through' quite quickly but notice dh is far more sluggish.

The things you say on the internet!!!

I am only 7+3 so am virtually the last one due on this thread and won't be having my booking in scan til 2nd wk of June!!! And I feel i've known about the pg for ages and ages too.

beckymumof3 · 14/05/2005 18:48

Sorry, booking in appointment not scan. [roll eyes]

george32 · 15/05/2005 08:20

LOL @ measuring my tummy with loo roll When do you think we will see a definite bump then?

Becky, might have to try prunes then. Tried prune juice but it tasted foul so have tried to stay away from them. I'm also veggie so I guess it must just be my body being a pain

I've got my booking in on 16th June so a while to go yet. I've never wished my life away so much. Looking forward to telling everyone now especially people at work. It will explain why I'm so moody in the mornings!!

dramaqueen72 · 15/05/2005 09:34

am also veggie, and cant bear prunes...sigh, see how desperate I get!
have pains last night/thsi morning. to the right and slightly lower than my belly button, going right thro to my back....any ideas anyone?

Nemo1977 · 15/05/2005 10:51

DQ it is probably streching they are the type of pains i have had on and off since start and sometimes r really painful...obviously not affected the baby though.

George god luck with prunes..ughh..lol I know what you mean about telling everyone. We have now told family but thats it.

I prob wont do the loo roll thing only because i am what you would class as a larger lady so wouldnt be true representation

Not a lot planned today apart from some tidying did a lot of gardening and cleaning in house yesterday so am shattered..also need to start thinking about when we go away on 11th june..ages i know but getting a toddler organised for a week away is something i havent done before and i am usually quite organised with lists etc..lol

MINNIE1 · 16/05/2005 08:35

Morning all,
I need help, my DP has shingles and i have developed 2 spots on my belly and there itchy (i though a hive) I had chicken pox when i was younger and though i would be ok, Can anyone offer advice? I have a scan Tomor but will it be too late?

sweetheart · 16/05/2005 09:32

Morning all.

Well - I'm 11 weeks today and I'm on the countdown to my 12 week scan - it's in 7 days so this week is gonna go soooooo slow!!!!

I'm really struggling with things to wear but I don't want to tempt fate by putting on my maternity bits just yet. The trousers are all massive anyway but I could do with a few tops with a bit of room!!!!

Minnie, Shingles in adults can be very dnagerous - I think I'm right in saying in some cases it can make men infertile?!?!?!?
If you've had chicken pox before it should be OK BUT if you only had it mildly it is possible for them to re-occur. I would phone you midwife to be on the safe side - or try and get to the Dr so he can have a look at the spots you have.

Nemo1977 · 16/05/2005 10:00

sh congrates on 11 wks..lol

I have started panciking again..i know less than a week after scan..lol Not a lot going on here today. I am shatterd as couldnt sleep well last night. Am taking fil to airport this morning then going to see a friend for afternoon..who is 12wks pg and has a dd about 6mths older than adam so we can compare and grumble..lol

hope u all have a good day

babygibbon · 16/05/2005 10:06

Hope everyone on the list is well. Not finding much time to get online at the mo, although I'm trying to catch up regularly. Thought I'd escaped the dreaded ms (didn't have it at all with DD), but it arrived last week with a vengeance. Only been sick once, but I feel nauseous all the time now. I had a plate of plain pasta (no sauce, butter or veggies) for tea last night - it's all I could face.

If I tell the midwife I'm not sure about my conception dates, will I get an earlier scan? Any thoughts?

MINNIE1 · 16/05/2005 10:18

sweetheart,
No i have not spoken to any of them as docs are not open yet and i have no mid-wife as the first visit to the hospital is tomor. I have to ring the doctors later for bloods and will ask about the shingles then.

sweetheart · 16/05/2005 11:21

I hope you get some good news minnie,

I have a problem which I need to solve fairly quick and wondered if you wonderful ladies had any ideas.

I have 3 functions coming up in the next 2 months. A christening (at which I am a godparent) a hen day/night (which is somewhere very posh) and a wedding (which is also very posh).

The trouble is I can't really just buy one outfit for all 3 as a few guests from the wedding will be at the christening and obviously everyone on the hen night will be at the wedding. So what do I do???? I can't really afford to buy 3 outfits so I figured I'd get two but I'll be 14wks at the christening and 18/19 weeks for the hen night/wedding so I think my size may have changed and I'm not sure maternity stuff will fit?!?!?!?!?

I've looked at some websites but haven't found anything inspiring - any ideas???????

Harrizeb · 16/05/2005 11:54

Why not treat yourself to either a pair of maternity trousers/skirt and then buy a different fashion top for each occasion - but just buy a couple of sizes bigger than you'd usually wear? I'm normally a size 10 and bought a couple of summer tops in size 14 for special occasions I went to and they worked when I was B/fing afterwards too.

Good luck
