Hello!

I have written my birth story here

mumsnet.com/Talk/birth_announcements/749315-gingersarah-has-Veronica-at-home?rnd=1241340599226

I feel so lucky, I was so nervy before hand as you know and made the huge mistake of reading some HB threads on here where people really put the fear of god into me. for whatever reason I decided to take the "risk" of HB, and was lucky enough to be allowed to do so, and there is no doubt in my mind that it was the only way I could have delivered such a big first baby - with the calm of a real expert and feeling safe and supported at home.

Will go back now and catch up!

AuldAlliance · 03/05/2009 10:45

Beautiful story, gingersarah, sounds like an amazing experience.

soon2befamilyof4 · 03/05/2009 12:13

DD2 has yellow bits on her fingernails and I am a bit worried something is infected? It is only on some of them, but it realy dark, just above the finger itself. Her nails are quite long - but I was told not to cut them so haven't?

AND after asking here for advise about belly button, I decided I thought it was fine as therewas no runny puss once I looked closer. But the last few days, there has been blood on the nappy at every nappy change? We are changing a lot as having loads of poo so must be bleeding most of the time? Not loads of blood...?

SpringySponge · 03/05/2009 12:14

Bicnod, I was getting more like 3 hours before, too - I've found that in the morning he's fairly happy to lie in bed feeding whilst I doze for an extra hour or so, which really helps. & other times I just dump him on DH & refuse to have anything to do with him for a bit whilst I nap.

Auld, I've read that about the chocolate Gutted. Really pleased that Alex takes his dummy, though

Boff, that's what I thought about the teen pregnancy thing. Although I was 19, I never considered myself a teenage pregnancy statistic - it's a totally different situation to if I'd been trying to do my GCSEs at the time! Stupid woman.

soon2be, you don't sound stupid at all. I have a big issue with teeth as well & totally understand (I even hide the teeth threads on Active Conversation because I don't like thinking about it too much ) I would be exactly the same & I hope the dentist can help. She'll care far less than you, though. Especially at the moment

BB, I'm not surprised that you're getting frustrated. It's difficult enough adjusting to living your life around a baby, never mind everything else going on in your house. Progress is being made, at least. & it's lovely that you had a nice meal out.

Ginger, your birth story made me cry! It's beautiful So pleased you got your HB & it all went so well. Shame about the tear & the hospital experience, but I suppose that only confirms what you believed about the HB being best for you

BOYS 23 47%

PuzzleRocks · 03/05/2009 12:16

Soon2be - traces of blood is normal for a few days after.

SpringySponge · 03/05/2009 12:17

soon2be, we had bits of blood on the nappies, but the MW said that it all looked clean. If you're not sure then obviously get it checked (like with everything) but I don't think that it's necessarily anything to worry about. Not sure about the nails. Does she have jaundice? We don't cut George's nails, but use an emery board without any problems (apart from him wriggling his fingers around too much!)

SpringySponge · 03/05/2009 12:18

That's a lot of babies & we're not even quite finished yet!

Bicnod · 03/05/2009 12:19

soon2be - mw told us to use a nail file as oscar's nails were very long and scratchy... worked really well

springy - hopefully oscar will become a bit better at dozing... think i got a couple of hours last night so progree

Bicnod · 03/05/2009 12:20

sorry, typing left hand while bf - meant progress

Bleuravin · 03/05/2009 14:02

thanks for all the thoughts about the blister folks and juw thanks for the bf link. I've not seen that one before...

if only I could freeze Meg when her mouth was open wide like those pictures show or slow her way the hell down so I could get the position of the nipple better situated in her mouth before the little vixen clamps down with all her might and starts sucking the life blood out of me... (we had a rough morning)
went to the gp about the blister and the rash got a shrug about both and a 'perhaps we should wait another 24 to 48 hours and see' also made an attempt to get better painkillers again..no avail. Though the doc did suggest that what I was feeling is fairly normal it's 'just' pressure of swollen glands on the nerve endings in the breast tissue. And he suggested it should go away as I continue to feed...in another 4 or so weeks as the breasts become less engorged -they're not engorged they're just big. oh well another day another six painkillers...help the economy anyway you can I say!

Bleuravin · 03/05/2009 14:05

Bb a meal out with the family sounds great! I'm glad you guys had a nice time.

And the DIY will be over soon..it has to be, I don't think there's much left in your house to be 'touched'

Bleuravin · 03/05/2009 14:06

I wish my father and husband would stop trying to get the baby to sleep during the day (inspite of the sqwaking) I'd like to get some sleep at night

Juwesm · 03/05/2009 14:16

Bleu - what painkillers are you on? Are you taking ibuprofen?

OddEyes · 03/05/2009 14:18

message from conkertree at 8.37am this morning:
I am finally in proper labour. yay! at hospital and they haven't sent me home although babies are being born in triage as very busy. think it will still be a while but excited to be here at least.

OddEyes · 03/05/2009 14:19
SpringySponge · 03/05/2009 14:31

Bleu, what you're feeling isn't normal, as you know. Please don't force yourself through this because the doctor's being useless. Perhaps see a proper BF counsellor & request that they write a short note to your GP saying that it's clearly not right. I know it's a bit odd taking a referral of sorts from a non-medical person, but they are more of an expert than your crappy doctor. I'd also suggest obviously trying to see another doctor if you can. I don't know how you're even sticking with it - you're a very determined woman xx

Yay for conker! About time! Yay! Doesn't sound great about it being that busy that babies are being born in triage

brettgirl2 · 03/05/2009 14:36

Exciting news about Conkertree.

Dinner with the family sounds lovely, what a good boy Kara is. As Hannah behaves like a lunatic between 7 and 9 in the evening it will be a while before we manage this . It could be a very empty restaurant haha.

Springy didn't you know that it is a societal rule that everyone has to marry after the age of 25 and between the ages of 26 and 35 have two children (a boy and a girl obviously)? Break as many of those stupid rules as possible I say. In fact it annoys me so much I think I'll have to have 1 or 3 kids At least I got married before I was 25 though . There's nothing at all wrong with having children at a younger age. There is a bit of a difference between 19 and 13!

SpringySponge · 03/05/2009 14:45

No wonder I'm a social pariah, brett I'm 20 now - I turned 20 at the beginning of October, so I was barely a teen pregnancy! & I've never been living with my parents since being pregnant, which is clearly one of the biggest issues. I've always had to deal with stuff by myself / with DH - & we've done a really good job!

Now to get producing at least 2 more children...

brettgirl2 · 03/05/2009 14:51

I love being a social pariah haha.

Talking of which, I never did start that Lino thread. Maybe now is the right time?

SpringySponge · 03/05/2009 15:08

Haha, I think it might be!

SpringySponge · 03/05/2009 15:09

I just had to lick Creme Egg fondant off George's arm because I was too busy concentrating on MN I'm an unfit mother
