Here it is ladies. Shall we start with a roll call like the efficient ladies over on April 2005?

Hello everyone, sorry i've missed so much of all your news, congratulations and welcome to all the new babies
My computer was stuck all last week so i couldnt get on to mn and i missed the thread so much.
Well, Shannon is doing really well, taken to b/f like a pro! I found it very easy with ds and luckily all is good this time round as well. Going off to post my details on Birth Announcements, GOOD LUCK for today anyone who'd like their baby to arrive

shhhh · 15/05/2005 11:58

Well today is our due date and yup you guessed it..no signs.! Suppose it was wishful thinking, hoping that baby would arrive on the due date ! Ha.!!
Had slight period type pains yesterday and bh's are stronger and a bit more regular but i'm not getting to excited over that! Probably still have another 2 weeks to go !!

BTW dh & I were in tesco yesterday & an old lady asked if I knew what I was expecting, yes I replied. she said I don't mind if you don't want to tell me but can I guess.? I had no issues so let her guess...Now bearing in mind we have been advised on the 20 wk scan & 28 wk 3d scan that baby should be a girl, the lady replied "a boy!!" LOL dh & I nearly fell over !! She said that people that carry out front like I am have boys.....
Oh well suppose if that is the case then baby will be dressed in pink for a while although we will stop at the frilly skirts & dresses... . We are not bothered what sex baby is but seem to be quite prepared for a girl.!!!
Those of you who found out baby's sex beforehand was it correct or did you have any surprises.??

muppety · 15/05/2005 13:02

I'd be interested to know that too. We were told at 20 week scan its a boy, but have started to wonder if they might be wrong. I mean if its healthy we don't really care, but now I really feel like I have bonded with another boy. No idea at all how I would feel if a dd popped out. Very shocked I imagine!

I did meet a lady at work that was told on 2 scans expecting a girl and she had a boy so I guess you never really know.

not even sure why I looked at this thread (apart from Im nosey and want to know who's due now ) but in response to Shhhh, I found out at 20 weeks I was having a boy and had further scans later (29 weeks) as I was contracting and was much bigger than my dates. The sonographer confirmed it was a boy and even took a piccie of him having a wee for me!! together with one of him blowing bubbles (from mouth) and one of him waving/holding hand up and then at a later scan (36 weeks) I have a picture of his face - so they were right !!

Missblossom · 15/05/2005 17:23

Afternoon all,

Well 1 day to go, but no sign. Still I hung on to my others for a week, so why should this one be any diferent. But the good news is I`m going in tuesday to be induced, finally persuaded my consultant to see it from my point of view. Sick and tired of constantly being in pain. I was also told that if for any reason I end up having a section I could be sterilised at the same time, that I hasten to add cheered dh no end because that lets him off the hook from getting the snip.

uwila · 15/05/2005 17:58

So, I take we got through Friday without any Friday the 13th babies.... phew. As for the scans, I think it depends on how clear the view is. If it's a boy and they see the willy, then they are probably right. If they say it's a girl they can sometimes be wrong just because they didn't see it. (although I would think the 3D scans are much more reliable). We asked about DD and the sonographer said it was a girl but that she wasn't sure. Anyway, she was obviously right. With this one, I was told boy at the 20 weeks scan. We had another scan at 36 weeks to check placenta location, and so I asked if we could just confirm the sex, and sure enough, plain as day, it's a boy.

I wouldn't really care if he turned out to be a girl except that I have traded all of my boy clothes for a friend's girl clothes. So, if Alex turns out to be a rachel, I might have to send her back.

logic · 15/05/2005 18:02

Well, last time they said boy at 20 wks and they were right. This time they said girl so we will see.

It must be lovely to have an induction date, missblossom! I am going in for a sweep tomorrow, and then Tuesday and then Wednesday and if on Thursday my cervix is at least 5/10 ready then I will be induced at Heatherwood otherwise I will be induced at Wexham. So I am in for a fun-filled week! Cannot quite believe that I am getting performance anxiety over my cervix though...

I am getting a discharge too, myermay. It's pretty normal I think.

Missblossom · 15/05/2005 18:18

We found out at 17 weeks that we were having a boy, by accident. His bum was up and his bits were as clear as day, the sonographer said not to say anything because she could get in to trouble, its the my local hospital policy not to say unless you are prepared to pay £60.

Apparantly little girls bits look like a beefburger in a bun and a boy looks like 2 marbles and a sausage.

Preggars · 15/05/2005 18:21

Hi Ladies

Yep, I'm getting slighty wetter knickers
too (grim huh!) I've also noticed a jellyish discharge this week. No odour, just clear/white. I was wondering if that might be the 'show'??

With regards to weight, I've eaten whenever I'm hungry. I was overweight, by just over half a stone before I became pregnant, so, like you Muppety, I'm actually about the same weight as I was last pregnancy when I gained 2st. I am quite tall, and I guess I had some fat reserves already for baby to use!! I must admit, my weight has now started to go down at the end, like it did last time. There's just no room for a stomach anymore.

Hasn't it been a glorious day today. Was dreaming about future birthday parties for this little bundle. My DS birthday in end of October, so will be nice to have one with a summer birthday.

fashill · 15/05/2005 20:06

Know what you mean about the summer parties!

Had a productive day today putting buggy together and sorting out clothes we've got. Had to take stuff back and now have lots of vouchers to spend in the future!! Then treated ourselves to a lovely pub lunch by the river and was watching all the families with youg babies thinking that will be us soon, if we manage to get out of the house!!

My stretchmarks are so sore I was thinking of putting ice on them to sooth but didn't think that would be very good for the baby. Any suggestions?

logic · 15/05/2005 21:11

I think that meeting up would be a nice idea. We have been chatting now for up to 9 months, after all!

Fashill, I've been using Miriam Stoppard pregnancy bump lotion on my stretchmarks because they are really sore too.

fashill · 15/05/2005 21:17

Thanks Logic, do you find it works?!? I've been trying loads of stuff and nothing takes away the soreness. I haven't really grown much more since I noticed them so i don't know why they are getting worse. Fingers crossed for your week ahead

Bozza · 15/05/2005 21:31

Hi everyone. Just thought I'd drop in and see if anyone had managed to produce today seen as how its DDs first birthday. But of course its unlikely that you would have got round to posting yet isn't it? Anyway good luck to you all. Its lovely having a May baby.

uwila · 16/05/2005 07:49

Oh, blimey Logic, are you still here. I have loads of sypathy for you. I was 2 weeks over with DD, and people would call me saying things like "Obvioulsy, you've had the baby by now..." And, I would say "I wish!". Well, if you make it to Thursday, then we can share the birthday because my elective section is scheduled for Thursday morning. And my body is showing no signs of pending labour so I don't expect any surprises before then.

Today is my first day off of work. And it's lovely. I could be a lady of leisure if I wasn't so bloody fat!

dabihp · 16/05/2005 08:32

Shhhhh - you are same height as me. are u plannign a normal delivery I ma booked for csection as they dont think i can deliver naturally... (dd1 didnt drop into pelvis, consultant reluctant to even let me try this time, sigh)

Brighteyes · 16/05/2005 09:41

Well I'm another one who can now officially join the "late club" was due yesterday but no signs of anything happening.
Have an appointment with the consultant tomorrow but have decided against induction. I'm willing to have the sweeps done or even go in for a c-section but I refuse to be induced unless it becomes an issue of safety for the baby. I've read that you can go to 43 weeks with little risk as long as you're monitored regularly.

Totally off topic, does anyone know of somewhere that sells cheap baby clotheshangers? All I'm able to find at the moment are children clotheshangers which are way to big for the newborn babygros.

Preggars · 16/05/2005 10:57

I've just had a show. It was very obviously one. Sorry for the info, but brown (old blood) and very jellyfied. I thought I had wet my knickers after a sneeze, and found all that instead. I called the maternity ward to let them know, and now it's just the waiting for another sign.

With regards to hangers, I bought some gorgeous wooden ones from John Lewis. They have pink, yellow, green, blue and white hearts at the top. I think they were about £6 for 5, but I could be making that up. I'm sure you can get them for cheaper though.

I'm soo excited. It's just me and DS home today, so plonked him in front of TV whilst I log on here.

Brighteyes · 16/05/2005 11:10

Sounds promising Preggars, doesn't sound like you will be joining the "late club".

Holly290505 · 16/05/2005 11:13

Brighteyes - try Woolworths for cheap baby hangers. Think Ikea do them too.

I am getting fed up waiting for this baby now - and I have 13 days to go! What am I going to be like if she's late??? Nothing seems to be changing and I haven't had any BH's - am I right in thinking not everyone gets them??

Seeing MW on Wed so I suppose the least I can hope for is that she's a bit more engaged....

Tinker · 16/05/2005 11:17

Sounds promising Preggars. Good luck. And poor you logic, think you do deserve to go next.

Have been having period pain like contractions since last night, not sure if that means anything but have washed my hair just in case.

My midwife said it was fine to go over 42 weeks as long as the baby and mother are ok. Only at 42 weeks will my hospital begin to talk about induction, it's not compulsory. Am thinking that my due date was actually yesterday (so I'm still late!) but remembered that my nuchal scan changed it from 10/05 to 15/05 so might have been more accurate.

Preggars · 16/05/2005 11:36

Lol 'washing your hair' Tinker just in case

Come on babies.. sending positive thoughts to all us May mother to be's.

How's the new Mums doing?

fashill · 16/05/2005 11:38

Good luck Preggars DP likes to keep updated with what's going on in the world of MN and he's very jealous as he wants things to start happening for us!! Me too, but also a getting a bit scared about labour now

Preggars · 16/05/2005 11:50

I feel really nervous excited now. I'm listening to my body so much that I can't tell normal twangs from signs anymore.

I'm anxious as we've got a bit of a logistics exercise to pull off once I know I am in labour, as my Mum's in herts (we're in kent). It shouldn't take her more than an hour to get here to look after DS, but it's the not knowing IYKWIM.
