Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Momino · 28/04/2009 16:50

tummum, that's great news about your BP! good luck for tomorrow as well but sounds like your armed with the right support.

well, vacuum has shorted out on me [silently curses DH for cleaning out fireplace with the dyson over the weekend]. however, i WAS able to vacuum the girls' room ceiling - vacuuming the ceiling? yes, I see what you mean. that does look strange now that i've typed it. nesting? moi? .

Gert2a · 28/04/2009 16:52

Fikelly sorry to hear about your rubbish and emotional day. Being up at 3.30am is rubbish (have had many of those nights in the past couple of months). Keep posting your frustrations on here, it'll help. Hope you get the best outcome for your poor dog.

Am just listening to our birth soundtrack (and letting LO listen too - give it some familiarity when it comes out)! We've chosen some bizarre songs now I look at the lyrics! But nevermind, lovely familiar songs to us and mean a lot to us. Hope none of it scares the theatre team! We're not weird people wanting our baby to be born to iron maiden... (it's a lovely accoustic iron maiden song if you're wondering!)

SesIsCountingdowntheweeks · 28/04/2009 16:53

Hello!!

All my good intentions of keeping up with you lot whilst on ML haven't gone as well as I hoped - you lot do chat!!!

Regiee - thank you for sharing your birth story and congratulations again Hope the piles improve quickly for you.

Tummum - glad you're home and all ok. Maybe not a bad thing in the long run if your DH is now more positive about a HB.

MissChocolateBunnies - things must be v busy for you but also v exciting Will be thinking of you on Friday!

Gert2a - sending positive vibes your way for tomorrow!

Pulapula - I think I'd have been a bit of the lady at NCT too but I also agree that in the real world, it's probably good to have the variety (?!?) of work too.

I've been out into town with my mum for lunch today which was good. Was chucking it down with rain so felt a bit silly walking around in beacg sandals but they're the only thing that my feet will fit in!

fi so sorry to hear about your dog. I know he's been unwell for a bit, but I didn't realise how old he was. Hopefully your vet will come up with another treatment. If not I wish you all strength you need to go through the dreaded talk of the vet. I hope your DH will be able to give you lots of support too. I'll try to have another good birth dream for you too

Tummum Good news about your BP. Just tomorrow left and then you can relax and go for that h/b

ses I'm wearing skinny mat jeans with crocs because of the swollen feet issue, an equally silly look, but my normal jeans are in the laundry

Gotta go, dinner is ready and ds has to be at beavers by 6. I hate Tuesdays, 1st gymnastics at 3.45-4.45 for dd and then beavers for ds at 6. Too much running around for me at this stage [sigh]

emmabemmasmom · 28/04/2009 17:32

Just poping in quick to post links to view 2 homebirth videos that I found very inspirational...thought I would share.

(oh and you don't see anything private lol)

VBAC twins:

Women sings during labour:

Now I am not religious, and maybe it is the hormones...but dear lord I was crying like a baby watching these two videos. DH came running thinking it was time

Enjoy!

divedaisy · 28/04/2009 17:52

Tummum - glad your now settled and out of hospital. Hope you will be able to proceed with your HB!

Fi - sorry to hear about your dog. What can be said other than 'big hug'... its not nice when they get old and you've heart breaking decisions to make...

gert2a - good luck for tomorrow!! Wow! Bet you're really excited! Hope there are no emergencies that spoil your plans... x

misschocolatebunnies - I will be thinking of you on Friday. Hope you have a wonderful day! Really enjoy it and make it last! Take everything in because it can go by so quickly! Can't wait to see your photos. Lots of love and best wishes. xx

Those videos were lovely! DOn't think I'd post my birth on you tube though!! Moo Choo!!

minimenace · 28/04/2009 17:59

Gert2a Good luck tomorrow - fingers crossed they have a slot free for your ELCS. This time tomorrow you could be holding your LO in your arms - how exciting

TMI alert had my sweep today and although head is fully engaged she struggled to get to my Cervix (felt like she shoved her whole hand up there) but she said it was too far back ?? She said soft but could only get her finger just in and will try again next week. oh yes please !!

Wonder how Llare is getting on today ?

pulapula · 28/04/2009 18:07

minimenace- you have reminded me of my sweep (ouch) and when the male junior doctor was checking baby's position during labour - i felt like he was a country vet delivering a calf (hand and arm inside), like i used to see on telly!. maybe belgianchocs can let me know whether this was likely or whether it just felt like it- i was fully dilated at the time but i was in a funny place after taking lots of gas and air...

minimenace · 28/04/2009 18:23

eek pula that sounds very ouch - she wasn't quite that bad today but I could certainly feel her knuckles pressing very hard against my Fanjo - she was apologising profusely I had to lift my hips with my hands too as Cervix was far out of reach.
Actually, now I remember having similar probs when I went in for my IOL last time.

Getting a few backachy type period pains now but she said that would happen after all that poking and maybe some blood but no sign of that yet.

Belgianchocolates · 28/04/2009 18:25

pula I'd can reassure you that if you were fully dilated the dr wouldn't have had his hand and arm inside like a vet , 2 fingers is all we ever use, honestly.

minimace Sometimes if the head is fully engaged, but your cervix not ready for going into labour yet, then it is tilted and actually behind the head and very difficult to reach. So I think that if she had managed a sweep it wouldn't have been successful anyway. There's a good chance next week your cervix will have changed and that she'll be able to reach it much better. The more ready your cervix is the easier it is for a mw to reach your cervix and the less uncomfortable it will be.

I'm also wondering about llare I had a text earlier saying that the induction was go ahead today, so I wonder if anything is happening by now...

I'm feeling v. sore today, my left leg really doesn't want to play at all. Also feel very tired despite good sleeps. Baby has been a bit less vigurously active too (though is making my ribs ache due to a foot wedged strategically underneath my ribs), maybe a sign of impending labour?

Blottedcopybook · 28/04/2009 18:29

TumMum Hooray! So glad you're home!

FiKelly huge hugs my dear I'm so sorry you're going through this, it's not fun at all is it?

mini I was the same with DS2, my cervix was so posterior that they actually missed it for my first prostin dose

sausagenmash · 28/04/2009 18:44

Yay for being at home, Tummum - fingers crossed you can get the home birth you want!

Hugs to you, FiKelly - am a doggy person, so completely empathise with poorly dogs. You poor thing, hope you get it sorted.

Lots of luck for tomorrow, Gert - wonder how Llare is getting on?

Had my lovely massage - had to sit up near the end though, I started to get all woozy and hot and sweaty and nauseous - nice massage lady got me some water and put the aircon on - phew, thought I was going to faint. Was slightly on my side and a bit upright, but I think it was the laying on the electric blanket and the hot towels that did it. Am all slippery like a seal now from all the oils! Wasn't till I went to pay that they told me that they've had quite a few ladies leave the treatment place and go straight to hospital in labour!!

Bored of heartburn. Am glugging milk, but have a phlegmy throat at the mo, and it now feels all claggy. Ugh.

Got a friend coming round tomorrow afternoon for a cuppa who is on a 6 month pre-attempting to conceive detox programme. Bet I put her off!

Dandy - glad you empathise re my parents swanning off to our fave place. They are going to get me bits and pieces, all HK-ish, for the baby, but still. Pah, spit, grrrrr

Arse, bugger, poo. Dp has called - he's going out for drinks, will be back around 9ish. Which means closing time. Harrummph

divedaisy · 28/04/2009 18:59

Belgian I too am feeling like you - very lethargic despite good enough sleep (I even had an hour and a half sleep at lunch time which isn't like me at all...),baby also isn't as active (although she kicks me enough to reassure me she's ok in there) and those coupled with my very short temper/tolerance at the minute remind me of when my bitch was in labour years ago...!!!

pulapula - I recall the sho who examined me during my labour - the mw (the crappy one I didn't bond with AT ALL!!) told me after being on the iv induction drug for 10 hours that I was still only 3 cm dilated, so I asked for someone else to check me and she got Dr 'Gold Finger'!!! Yes he was coloured a gorgeous golden syrup and he had the LONGEST fingers ever! Oh needless to say he announced 'Mrs T you're 10 cms dilated and all ready to push!' But I too felt like he had half his arm up there too!!

luckymummy74 · 28/04/2009 19:04

Just gatecrashing your thread ladies to wish you all lots of luck!!

My DD2 will be 1 on Thursday, she was 2 days early (due 2nd May) My DD1 was also born in May, she was a whole week early!

This time last year I was posting on the May 08 ante-natal thread to tell them all I'd had my show !

LM x

divedaisy · 28/04/2009 19:16

thanks luckymummy74!

divedaisy · 28/04/2009 19:18

I had a go at Wii Fit today - hoola hooping (got my best score yet!!!) and 'jogging'!! All in a vain attempt to get things a-movin'!! Oh and step too!! Worth the laugh anyway..

divedaisy · 28/04/2009 19:22

sausagenmash do you not find milk gives you more heartburn?? I understood that drinking milk actually increases your stomach acids to digest the milk, therefore can cause heartburn... now maybe I'm wrong there??

pulapula · 28/04/2009 19:26

belgianchocs- i feel a little bit but glad i'm not the only one who felt there was a hand and more up there- thanks divedaisy. Another of my memories which still haunt me belgian is when they put the local in for my episiotomy which had me screaming (again think the G&A had a lot to do with it so trying not to scare any first-timers) and then the MW said "OK, now for the other side" and i freaked out, as i assumed they just needed to numb one side. Is it normal to need 2 locals? I always thought i had a reasonable pain threshold but after that i'm not so sure lol- the MW was getting very fed up with me .

divedaisy · 28/04/2009 19:29

Oh I have deep period type pains... too much hoola hooping?? Disappeared now... lets wait to see if it comes back eh??

ReeBee · 28/04/2009 19:32

Fi, just a quick note to send you hugs re your poorly dog. What a rubbish situation, fingers crossed that the vet has good news. Have two of my own so can imagine how you must be feeling.

xx

runningmonkey · 28/04/2009 19:33

emmabemma cool vids, especially the singing one. When I was training for the london marathon a few years ago I used to get through the long painful training runs by singing at the top of my voice which got some qierd stares from passers by so I might give it a go for labour... wonder if they would let us take DH's guitar to hospital? Oh yeah, I also sobbed along too

Fi so sorry to hear about your dog, hugs from me.

Have just come back from mw - head is really low apparently which explains the grapefruit in pants feeling I get when walking for any more than about 2mins. All fine otherwise. Think I am getting BH contractions too, but not sure what they are supposed to feel like! (really tight bump and lower back pain, goes away when I lie down?)

glad all ok tummum

Hope all is well with other folks too

divedaisy · 28/04/2009 19:33

some more starting.....

divedaisy · 28/04/2009 19:34

could be wind maybe??

runningmonkey · 28/04/2009 19:34

oh yeah, just remembered - seem to have found a bizarre cure for my restless legs - wearing socks in bed!! Worked a treat last night so might be worth a try for anyone else who is suffering... or maybe I'm just a wierdo
