MichaelaS · 04/05/2009 23:02

Hi all, thanks for your support and well wishes. Nathan is now 3 days and 7 hours old. Unfortunatley he doesn't seem to be getting any better, and he had a bad episode today when they tried to wean him off one of the medicines, so we have had a horrible day.

We had him christened, and we calmed down a bit and he is currently stable again but back on full (20%) NO gas and about 60% O2. They have said he needs to come off the NO within the next 48 hours otherwise it just goes to prove his lungs can't cope, even in 100% oxygen on full ventilation. So, we are praying that God helps him get stronger and especially for his little lungs and for help against the infection which is still raging.

Don't want to hijack this thread so will start a new one, please do go on talking about all your pregnancy concerns, it's great to have others going through similar things on here isn't it. I'm going to try the Bliss boards if this internet connection holds up. I'll keep popping back to see how you are all doing.

love Michaela

PS update - we have been in again and his NO is down to 10% with 60% O2 - hooray! slowly slowly reducing it to nil this time. Dont think I mentioned it but he was born on Friday 1st May, 2.34pm and once he stabilised he weighted only 620g and was 23cm including his hat.

Uki · 05/05/2009 00:03

MichaelaS- Another MNetter, JohnWorf, who usually hangs out on the 40+ thread on the pregnancy topic, had her daughter last year at 24+4. She says she is more than willing to be in contact with you if you need support. Continuing good vibes to little Nathan.

readyfornumber2and3 · 05/05/2009 10:30

Michaela Glad Nathan is slowly coming off the NO and I hope he continues to fight and get stronger x x

NCTlouise · 05/05/2009 11:52

Hi all never posted on here before so am a complete novice!

I'm an NCT antenatal teacher and have started running classes in West Norfolk for the first time. There wasn't a teacher for years.
Just wondered if any of you were from that area and knew we were up and running?

olivo · 05/05/2009 12:06

oh my goodness, sorry havent read all the threads but just wanted to say congratulations to Michaela and good vibes and prayers for little Nathan. Will be thinking of you.

lea1980 · 05/05/2009 18:49

hi all, hope everyone is doing well!
i have to admit to not having been on here for ages..and i am a very lazy reader so i havent read the posts at all!! (at least im honest!!)
i have a question to ask you all..its more of an advice thing really..or your opinions, particularly to the more experienced mothers out there.
i am searching for the "wheels" for this baby (i write wheels because this is where the advice is needed!!)
i have a 20 month old son already, he will be 2 5 days after macy is due. we have a basic stroller for him (an o baby actually)
i still have the 2 in 1 from seth but i hate it. (it is a bebecar r-versus...quite chunky and the mechanisms for it are really stiff. here is my predicament...do i keep the bebecar car seat and buy a suitable from birth pushchair, or shall i get a whole new travel system or a 2/ 3 in 1 system and add a buggy board for seth?!
i am finding it hard to decide..although i am drawn to the whole new system thing, so i dont have to wake sleeping baby, i am confused by the masses of choice there is and review sites are never any help.
to make option giving easier...i dont drive, so lightweight and public transport friendly is needed!!
basically what i am asking is...what is everybody else doing?! or can any one recommend a really good, easy to understand site to help my choice making easier?!
this is the most confusing thing about pregnancy...it would be so much easier if you could only get a handful of choices!!
i am sorry to have waffled..and i am well aware this topic has been covered somewhere else somewhere before, but like i said..lazy!!

cairns · 05/05/2009 19:49

Hi Lea1980. I have a similar age gap to you (identical really). I am not going to go for a travel system this time as TBH I didn;t really use the car seat attached to a pram thing much last time as I didn;t like my DS sleeping in his car seat for too long. I have been in dilemma too though because of DS's age , whether or not just to go straight for a buggy board and/or a sling and pram option, however because I do lots of walking and think DS will still be a little young for a buggy board plus is a bit of a runner, I have decided one of the only options best of the bunch for me is a Phil and Teds, which is what I am going for, but that is because I do lots of walking and I don't want a side by side twin pram. A friend of mine who uses public transport a lot swears by a twin maclaren buggy as it is light with an umbrella fold and dependent on the type the seats recline independently and can lie flat. I found a really useful site with reviews of products called babyfy, I don;t know if that helps.

OonaghBhuna · 05/05/2009 20:18

I have used mountain buggy both double and single. They are more expensive but if you look after them they sell really well on ebay. They are easy to use and light in weight.
I am going to get a buggy board as DD2 will be 2.9 when this one is born. She still needs to rest in the buggy so I am intending to use a sling for the newborn. DD1 is 4 next Monday and she walks everywhere.

lea1980 · 05/05/2009 20:19

cairns, my son is a runner too but i was kind of hoping in another 4 months he would be a bit better!!
i was contemplating a sling for baby and doing away with wheels..hell of a lot cheaper and easier for public transport etc
im pretty sure i dont want to do double buggies etc...seth is a strong walker (hes been walking since he was 10 months) and so i feel they are a lot of money for a short times use.
the more i think about it the more i think i dont want a travel system...too bulky and quite heavy, particularly having a 2 year old in tow too.
but that are as far as my thoughts go at present..suppose im narrowing down my options though!!
thanks cairns..i shall check out that site. im quite lucky in that we live close to the kiddicare store...ill spend a day there testing each option with a doll!!
