Hawkmoth LOL with your surname with Ben, my tummy really aches now, that is the best have heard for ages. Sorry about the work situation but it really is for the best to rest. Everyone keeps telling me off for overdoing things (like mowing the lawn!), and then I suffer after and am really grumpy (apparently!), best to just try and get thru the last few boring weeks.

No change here really. GTT came back negative, which doesn;t surprise me. Been to docs today for regular check up and next Growth scan in a couple of weeks. I really love these appts as you get to just pay full attention to the little one growing and hear the heartbeat, it is lovely.

Fab hospital list readyfornumber2and3. I would only add onto that some cleaning wipes (especially if you suspect you'll be sharing a bathroom/ward), someone told me about that last time and my was I happy I had them with me

I have started to get things ready, just got things out of the loft and started washing clothes and sheets, but not yet packed hospital bag. It really did start to hit me now when I see all those little white babygros and vests hung up on the line. New Pram arrived today too , so will start getting DS1 used to it.

Queenoftheharpies · 11/06/2009 14:54

I've just come back from the midwifes and in 3 weeks my growth measurement has gone from bang in the middle of normal range to just on the edge of abnormally large.

This is the first fundal height measurement I've had done with a tape measure though - last time the midwife just took a look and plonked an x on the chart.

The MW doesn't seem that worried about it - she says that they'll only refer me if there's a second abnormal measurement.

For the first time in this pregnancy I'm a bit worried. Calm me down please!

Haribosmummy · 11/06/2009 15:10

How many weeks are you now?, Queenie

I've never understood how this measurement thing works, to be honest... I was tiny with DS - honestly, impossible to tell I was PG until I was 8months PG!... I'm much larger this time around so I have no clue how they tell.

If you DO have worries, you could go for a private scan / 4D scan (and you get some yummy photos too!!! )

I go here I had a welfare scan at 35 weeks with DS and Daryl Maxwell was only 1/2 ounce on DS's birth weight and I've just booked my welfare scan for this baby for the start of July.

Just an idea?

Queenoftheharpies · 11/06/2009 15:18

30 weeks (FH measurement was 30cms) - still only just outside the normal range but quite a big rise on the curve. It's been a completely textbook pregnancy so far, I feel great. Nobody's worried and I shouldn't be.

It's such an inexact measurement that I'm really trying to be sensible here rather than nuts and hormonal :-)

Haribosmummy · 11/06/2009 15:26

It is inexact and, as you say, as no-one else is worried, I think you can take a lot of satisfaction from that!

FWIW, even the morning I went into hospital to have DS, I still didn't really believe I was going to leave with a healthy baby (I know now that sounds sad)

but, one year on... My DS is just the most crazily gorgeous toddler ever!!!

Hope88 · 11/06/2009 15:31

Hi everyone, I haven't been on here for a long time so must catch up properly. Very busy at work and home.
I have been getting these awful cramps in my calf from time to time so I was wondering whether anyone else has any experience with it or any piece of advise? I knew about them but was so surprised by how much it bloody hurts!!!

cairns · 11/06/2009 15:56

QOH I wouldn;t worry I don;t trust the FH measurements as they are so inexact and many midwifes don't bother with them. The general rule is 1cm for each wk you are, so 30wks at 30cm sounds about right. I know I am carrying a bigish baby and I have a forwards bump and mine are at least 3-4cm bigger than my wks. Today I was 36cm at 32wks. But again, I really dont believe them TBH.

Hope I too get cramps every now and again in my lower calf, very very annoying (and painful) often in the middle of night, which wakes DH up too (with my noise of agony), was told it is normal based on muscles taking too much strain due to extra weight carrying etc

cairns · 11/06/2009 15:59

Although hope was told that if pain is constant then it is not just cramps and might be a blood clot or something, so then would need to get it checked out

quixotic · 11/06/2009 16:21

Oh my gosh - all this talk of hospital bags is making it seem real. I just had a call from the birth centre I am hoping to go to, I have to transfer my care at 32 weeks and they called to make my first appointment. I put the phone don and thought - I am having a baby - ARGH!

Hope I was told celery can help, but it is very possible that is an old wives tale.

Off for a tour of the hospital now, to compare to the birth centre. Feel a bit nervous!

OonaghBhuna · 11/06/2009 17:38

Sorry havent been on for ages, struggling a bit. Got a bit of worrying news today from my consultant. Baby is breech and oblique, feet are currently very low down, he is concerned about my waters breaking and has advised me that I need to get to the hospital immediatly if they do, by ambulance if necessary. He says if they break I am at risk of a cord prolapse. So he has booked me in for a section on the 14th July OMG.I just have to keep my fingers crossed that my waters dont break for 4 weeks.

VJaybigpants · 11/06/2009 17:40

I'm starting to panic about my bag now, I have got 11 weeks to go still, but I've just been back and copied down readyfornumber2and3s list, thankyou

duchesse · 11/06/2009 17:42

Oonagh- please try not to get too worried. Obstetricians have a way of getting panicky about things. The baby might turn yet. I know two people whose babies turned at 38 weeks.

Forester · 11/06/2009 17:56

Hope - I've read that a banana before bed is good for cramp - but don't know if it's true

OonaghBhuna · 11/06/2009 18:09

Duchesse- I will try not to worry as I have two girls to look after! However DD1 was ECS due to getting stuck and in awkward position and dd2 was breech but it wasnt treated as high risk,I had an elective CS with her. With breech and oblique there could be an underlying reason for this position.Anyway I have to try and take it easy!

trixymalixy · 11/06/2009 22:00

Waaaah, the perfect job for me has been advertised on S1 jobs today, they are few and far between where i live. Just kicking myself now that I'm pregnant. I'm still thinking of applying and seeing if they would wait until the beginning of january for me .

Hope tonic water and bananas are good for leg cramps. I've been suffering a bit with them too.

duchesse · 11/06/2009 22:07

Trixy- go for it, apply. If they really want you and feel you're the right person for the job (assuming they're not a bunch of MCPs with no agenda other than to boot mothers out of the workforce) there's no reason you shouldn't be in with a good chance.

Haribosmummy · 11/06/2009 22:08

Trixy - def. go for it!!!

trixymalixy · 11/06/2009 22:38

I am going to apply. Even if they can't wait for me and need someone now, the area of work is going to become really important in 2010 so hopefully if they need more people they might keep me in mind.

I've got an appointment to get my Cv sorted next week with an outplacement consultant through work so hopefully it should wow them!!

BabyBump2B · 12/06/2009 05:16

Hi All - don't have much time to catch up properly but wanted to say I've been suffering terribly from leg cramps - sometimes up to 5 a night! Only thing that works is staying hydrated and taking the maximum dose of Calcium-Magnesium before bed. The Calcium-Magnesium makes a massive difference!

Hope88 · 12/06/2009 12:37

Thanks everyone for your advise on the leg cramps.
BabyBump2B 5 a night . that must be awful.
Trixy def worth applying.

We have just started doing up our flat and it looks like a bombshell now. Have a feeling that I took the nesting thing a bit too far

duchesse · 12/06/2009 16:17

I just thought I'd mention that I think this baby turned in the night. I'm now getting kicks at the top, and haven't had any bladder ones all day. Result.

Martine- my friend knows someone in London who is an acupuncturist and midwife, but no-one in N Kent. She did say though that as the process is pretty straightforward, you could go to any acupuncturist, not necessarily one who's a specialist in pregnant women. If you want the details of the London one, just say!

craftynclothy · 12/06/2009 17:31

duchesse - yay for baby turning.

Hope - yes I've heard bananas can help with cramp.

QOH - I always though you were meant to measure the FH in cm and it should match your gestation in weeks so 30wks & 30cms would be spot on - mw never had a chart last pregnancy, she said if it matched the number of weeks it was right.

Trixy - go for the job!

As for me. 2 days of really bad hip pain. Dh has had to be at home cos I struggle to get upstairs to the loo etc. Decided to ring physio who said all they'd do would be give me an extra support band and crutches...but no I couldn't just pick the crutches up cos they'd have to adjust them for me etc and so dh would have to take time off to take me to an appointment next week...OR I could go to A&E for the crutches if I needed them sooner. So ended up at A&E this afternoon (what a wonderful use of A&E resources ) where the doctor said "You're quite short, we'll try this height, have a go...that's fine" - I did get lots of "Be Careful, don't fall" from him too . Am now thinking of also paying for an osteopath (phoned by he'd left for the day so won't hear until Mon probably) and have sold my Wii Fit and started selling dvd's etc to pay for it .

CoonRapids · 12/06/2009 17:39

Good luck with the job Trixy! Hope - nightmare cramps in my calves one night last week. Agony and scared ds with my shouting!
TOTC - I've name changed and will update list at some point! Have been helping out at ds school today - how exhausting. Got roped in at drop-off as someone else couldn't make it!

CoonRapids · 12/06/2009 17:40

Sorry, my message got all jumbled, meant to put my name change thing at the end. I am tired and confused...

Hawkmoth · 12/06/2009 18:55

Well I had the best news I could have today. Antibody levels were not significant, must have just been a trace amount. Also a lovely scan of baby, nothing wrong and got a great view of him opening and closing his mouth.

I never even thought of that as an outcome, assumed there would be at least some antibodies, some cause for concern. I feel very lucky.

So no worried about homebirth, which is good as DP nearly pulled his fingernails out fretting that he might have to have a blood test himself!

Hope everyone's about to embark on a fantastic weekend. I've been promised... the afternoon to myself
