Glad to hear Nathan is doing well Michaela.

Just popping on (parents here and tea almost ready) . If anyone's looking for cheap nursing bras, Sainsbo's have a 2 pack for £10 and go up to a G cup (at least!)

YanknCock · 26/05/2009 18:04

Thanks for the update on Nathan, Michaela. Have read it to DH as well, we are thinking of you lots.

Well, I've managed to do a daft thing and screw up my back some more! Decided to try to tidy the spare room as my friend is coming to stay this weekend. So I very stupidly lifted one of DH's many guitars to put it back in its place in the corner-and promptly seized up, ended up vertical on the sofa for two hours. A bit better now, but still throbbing. I swear, I never learn. I hate not having the strength I used to havefeel so useless!

BabyBump2B · 26/05/2009 18:24

Hi All!

Michaela - thank you so much for posting. I think of you and Nathan all the time. So glad he's getting stronger every day.

I'm feeling like a silly cow as someone at work was just rude to me and I had to walk away quickly so as not to cry. Not like me at all. Where has all this emotion come from?

Had a lovely weekend camping and am def learning to live with the ab pain. Have decided to take at least some leave early which is making things easier to handle as well.

I'm beginning to think the 3rd trimester is like running into a brick wall with all sorts of pains and things popping up.

I'm also surrounded by women having their babies before 38 weeks so starting to get very nervous!

Hope everyone gets some pain relief soon!

nandos · 26/05/2009 18:33

hope everyone is doing fine

Hawkmoth · 27/05/2009 10:48

I guess I just have to wait until I get the levels of antibodies back, and then hope that the medical professionals know enough about this field to provide me with some evidence to back up their black-and-white approach. Not hopeful on that - I had to use all my scientific skills hunting through medical journal abstracts and papers to find anything at all out about M-antibodies!

Currently having a bit of a skive at work looking for birthday presents for DP, who is 30 on Sunday. I'm so rubbish at shopping for men, but I am making him a cake with buttercream so that'll win him over whatever else I get!

Longtalljosie · 27/05/2009 17:16

Ooh - cake...

My baby feels like it's moving constantly at the moment. Anyone else?

Oh yeah, and I was up at 4am eating muesli because I was so hungry! The cat (which sleeps in the living room) looked at me with a wtf expression - before going back to sleep with one paw over his eyes!

BabyBump2B · 27/05/2009 17:46

I've pretty much constant movement Josie - she is very active!

I've just counted the number of work days until I go on mat leave and its 31. I can't tell you how excited I am about that as my job has just gone mental. Knowing that I only have 31 days left make it all worth while!

kitkatqueen · 27/05/2009 18:51

Longtalljosie and any cake addicts out there.....
I just got sent this recipe on an email

Hmm I have a microwave in the caravan

5 MINUTE CHOCOLATE MUG CAKE
4 tablespoons flour
4 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons cocoa
1 egg
3 tablespoons milk
3 tablespoons oil
3 tablespoons chocolate chips (optional)
A small splash of vanilla extract
1 large coffee mug (MicroSafe)

Add dry ingredients to mug, and mix well. Add the egg and mix thoroughly.

Pour in the milk and oil and mix well..

Add the chocolate chips (if using) and vanilla extract, and mix again.
Put your mug in the microwave and cook for 3 minutes at 1000 watts.

The cake will rise over the top of the mug, but don't be alarmed!

Allow to cool a little, and tip out onto a plate if desired.
EAT ! (this can serve 2 if you want to feel slightly more virtuous).

And why is this the most dangerous cake recipe in the world?
Because now we are all only 5 minutes away from chocolate cake at any time of the day or night!

Mine is constantly moving today, what the hell is he doing in there?! There are these weird flollops that make me feel slightly seasick, then the usual bladder kicking, then this strange quivering for a few minutes. . .

I like to imagine he is redecorating or something. Have been very amused at seeing my belly move from the outside (previously too well padded to notice it).

Longtalljosie · 27/05/2009 19:29

Kitkatqueen - that's brilliant. Possibly lethal, but brilliant...

I've got 32 work days left. Wow... it being my first, I can't get my head around the idea of leaving the workplace for that long!

mamamila · 27/05/2009 20:15

mm cake!

hi everyone,

sainsbury's have green n black choc 50 or 60p off, sat here now with a dark cherry bar and a virtually no alcohol cider. yum

another very wriggly baby, like yankncock described it's all bladder kicks and sumersaults, i'm back from osteopath today and very hopeful this will be the answer. the back pain kicked off about 10 days ago. so strange the bra to navel area seemed to pop out overnight and lower back started throbbing and since then i'm breathless and stiff and walking at snail's pace.

had a miserable few days, like my whole being sank into a sulk in protest as i'd been totally enjoying this middle bit of pregnancy, so totally need this osteo to work like magic to keep my spirits up

are any of you suffering from sitting down too? it seems to aggravate my back terribly. so does walking/ bending/ turning over in bed...

Hawkmoth · 27/05/2009 22:08

Sitting down is ok at the moment... baby's backside is right under my ribs, as is at least one foot. So, if I don't sit bolt upright I get horrid pressure and pins and needles from it! It is really helping my posture and lower back pain!

Any ideas on how to live the next two weeks in denial before I get my antibody results and scan? Cake and chocolate working so far... to a point.

duchesse · 27/05/2009 22:16

Mine's still breech, which means loads of trampolining on the bladder. At times it deigns to slide around to transverse for a while. It has never afaik been cephalic yet this pregnancy.

TaleofTwoCities · 27/05/2009 22:29

Mamamila - I'm really uncomfy sitting down, especially at work. I'm getting rib pain and back pain. I read in my book that sitting squashes everything up even more and so can aggravate your back. I'm off to try and get refitted for maternity bras tomorrow as I think this might help my ribs..

Love the chocolate discussions, that mug cake sounds ideal!
Hawkmoth - good luck with the antibody results etc. You need lots of treats at strategic intervals for the next 2 weeks to help with the waiting.
Michaela - continued good luck with everything, good to hear your update.
Good luck to the twin mummies with the scans too!

Current excitement here is the imminent delivery of the new nipper buggy. I gave in and treated us to it. It's coming Friday, will have to wait in with both dcs as it's half term, could be a tricky day esp. if we go in the garden and miss the knock at the door. Other than that, will be going to car boot sale in a couple of weeks to see what can pick up and a new friend met at the school gates has offered me some of her baby things which is v. kind!

martinemorris · 28/05/2009 09:07

Hello,

Sorry i havent posted for a wile but have been away in the New Forest..... Was a lovely break and the weather was amazing....

Just to update you i had a scan on Tuesday to check everything was OK and found that the little beggar is now breech with not much chance of moving.....

Really wanted to have another natural birth but not looking very likely at the moment... This pregnancy lark really does play havoc with my netball career!! lol lol lol

Longtalljosie · 28/05/2009 09:15

I've got a feeling she's transverse at the moment - lying in bed last night on my side, could feel her kicking around my hip area. Plus my bump's suddenly got wider.

What can you do to encourage them to turn? Anything?

duchesse · 28/05/2009 10:40

Martine- my friend is a midwife/acupuncturist and I asked her about this. She says that 40% of breech babies will turn spontaneously between 34 weeks and term (in fact I know two people whose babies turned at 38 weeks). With acupuncture, another 20% will turn in that time frame. I am going to her for acupuncture- a 60% chance is good enough for me. She may know someone near you if you"d like me to ask her. All this to say, don't give up yet, there is still plenty of time.

quixotic · 28/05/2009 10:45

Hello,

Also getting lots of movements now - not sure how she is lying but seeing what could be a head or a bum protruding up by my ribs every now and again and the whole side of my belly moving, plus kicks/punches to the bladder - all a bit Alien!

My midwife cancelled my appointment for the fourth time, I feel fine but it will mean the next time I have an appointment is at 30 weeks when my last appointment was at 21 weeks - do you think this is OK? Really want to go to apply for that healthy pregnancy grant.

On the MIL front, both DH and I told her NOT to book flights to come visit in August. So she did anyway. Nice. She arrives on 24th, 4 days after my due date. Have had a couple of hormonal crying fits about this already with DH, imagine what I will be like come August. Put my foot down that they have to stay in a hotel, and if we do not feel like seeing them then we won't. Can't really believe she did it to be honest, I know she wants to meet her grandaughter, but if she is late and/or I am in hospital for a while she might not get to see her at all.

Hawkmoth good luck with the results, I find cake is the best remedy for everything at the moment, planning to make a huge victoria sponge with strawberry and cream filling at the weekend.

duchesse · 28/05/2009 10:51

quixotic-I am shocked! no it is NOT okay for your midwife not to have seen you between 20 and 30 weeks. Have you seen anybody at all in that time? You must have your blood pressure taken regularly, as problems that are spotted early on are more easily treated. Ring her and make a fuss. Failing that, ring your hospital antenatal department and tell them you've seen nobody for ten weeks and ask them what they propose doing about it.

martinemorris · 28/05/2009 11:12

Duchesse, yes please.. I live in North Kent if thats any use.... Any help will be gratefully received..... It really is odd as up until 2 weeks ago he/she was head down.... now its got itself into some yoga pose!!

duchesse · 28/05/2009 11:48

Martine- have emailed her to ask.

craftynclothy · 28/05/2009 11:53

quixotic. That is outrageous of your MIL. Am for you. Tbh if mine came to visit 4 days after my due date I'd hit her . Also agree that you should phone and see if you can get seen by a mw. (Mind you if I was having nhs care I'd have been seen at 16w, scan at 20w, mw at 28w and then 34w so not v often at all)

MY MIL has said (again!) that she's having a birthday party as planned and hopes we can make it...dh has told her we can't (FFS I'll be over 38 weeks and they live over 5 hours away). She keeps trying to say that it'll be fine and even said that BIL & his wife would be fine about doing it . Keep wanting to shout "Yes, BIL & his wife who don't want a homebirth cos they have a new carpet, use disposable nappies, wife who doesn't have spd & can therefore sit comfortably in a car and who had a much longer labour than I did last time...yes those people who are the complete f'ing opposites to us...yes they probably would come visit you...BUT WE STILL AREN'T FUCKING COMING" Sorry that turned into a bit of a rant.

For those of you with Breech babies, it's very common at this stage. Most will turn before or during labour. There's a website called Spinning Babies that gives ideas on how to encourage them to turn.

No idea what position mine is in, I seem to get kicks all over the place (think it was similar last time too). Might ask tomorrow if mw can tell what position it's in. Must also remember to ask mw to sign HiP grant form as I forgot last time .

duchesse · 28/05/2009 12:00

Blinkin eck, why is there so much difference between hospital trusts?

My appointment schedule is thus:
week
12 Hospital, US and Midwife
16 Midwife
20 Hospital and US
25 Midwife
26 Hospital
28 Hospital for GTT, Anti-D and bloods, midwife
31 Midwife
34 Hospital, US and midwife
36 Midwife)
38 Midwife) May well be more hospital visits during this time as well
40 Midwife)

And frankly, the only thing high risk about my pregnancy is my age

craftynclothy · 28/05/2009 12:13

Wierd isn't it. Yours is more like the 'first time mum' care pathway (except there's no 26w hospital one here and no GTT). For subsequent pregnancies they drop the 25 and 31 w appointments.

valz · 28/05/2009 12:14

well ladies, had my scan this morning im 29 weeks this monday. the babies are growing well, the dr said they are 3lbs each and measuring 30 weeks at the mo. im glad yet scared, ive always read twins are always slightly smaller then singles and at this stage they start putting on 1/2lb a week til birth, if thats the case and i go another 10 weeks i'll have two broozers. anyone know how accurate those measurements are? one baby is head down and the other is legs down, a bit like a ying yang!
