Hi conker - no, not talked about it here before!

DSS doesn't live with us but visits every other weekend and he gets on brilliantly with DS1. They first met when they were 3 years old (XH left when DS1 was just about 2) so have known each other for nearly 7 years now and refer to each other as brothers which is nice (there is actually only 2 weeks age difference between them and they are into everything the same really) When DS2 came along they bonded even more and they are like the 3 musketeers now

minush · 13/04/2009 20:13

Congratulations to Electra and Lou. Hurray for two new babies.

Good luck MM, hope you have your baby soon.

Juw, you definitely deserve to be next!

All this talk of painful post birth poos, pees and fanjos has made me a leeeeeeeeeetle less impatient for mini minush to come out.

BB, sounds like a very very trying day indeed. I'm dreading similar, but also dreading my reaction to it. I can be a little snappy (understatement) when tired, hormonal and in pain!

Frekkles, What laptop are you using? I think their PR dept should get in touch with you. What a great selling point.

BoffinMum · 13/04/2009 20:21

Lauren, I actually know what Skeggy beach smells like and that is CRUEL of your DP.

Nutty, re: meds. Don't stop taking yours because it wasn't a big problem for Star Stomp Monkeyquake in the end. The mw taught me a new trendy way of feeding that meant he latched on by himself even when sleepy, and we've got it sorted now. Basically you strip them off apart from the nappy, and put them on your front skin to skin while you recline back quite far on copious pillows like a goddess about to be fed grapes by a nearby slave . Their head then bobs up and down and they shuffle along until they find the nipple, and latch on very nicely. It's much more comfy than bf sitting up IMO. The official name is Biological Nurturing, and there's info here

The meds I am on now are:

8am 30 mg codeine plus 1000mg paracetemol
10am 600mg ibuprofen
1pm 1000mg paracetemol
6pm 1000 mg paractemol
8pm 600mg ibuprofen
Bedtime 30 mg codeine plus 1000 paractemol

I am upping the ibuprofen and reducing the codeine this week over 5 days until I stop the codeine altogether.

conkertree · 13/04/2009 20:22

thats great surprise - so much easier when they get on and bet loads of kids would love a brother/sister the same age - just like living with your best friend at the weekend.

think juw could definitely do with some coordinated and intensive pom pom waving from us all to help her along.

surprisenumber3 · 13/04/2009 20:27

yeah conker, they do get really excited when they know he's coming to stay although the volume of noise in the house does go up about 100,000% !!!

minush · 13/04/2009 20:36

Lauren, what did labour ward say? If they said to try the bath and para first and then go in, I guess you should.
You'll feel frustrated if it turns out to be nothing, but you shouldn't ignore it and think it will go away, (Look at Springy's experience!)or worry about irritating the widvives!
Sorry you're in pain. Hope it either stops soon, or turns out to be labour!

SpringySponge · 13/04/2009 20:38

Clairey, that sounds really stressful - I hope she starts putting weight on for you now. Looking forward to seeing you around a bit more when things have settled xx

Puzzle, we bought some Infacol today. Only tried one lot of it as of yet, but it seems to have helped - I've heard loads of people saying it's useless before, but so far so good. I've even had a brief nap this evening because George was persuaded to let go of my boob

& hey, I never said anything about your fluffy arse - are you perhaps protesting too much?

Congratulations lou! Lovely name & story. It must be such a relief to be over after all the scans & so on xx

Boff, winding him like that does work, but it takes ages & doubles the length of every feed as a result. I thought I must be doing something wrong! My MW is coming over again tomorrow & I'll mention it to her. I'm definitely after the fanjo physio - there's no way I'm spending the rest of my life like this. We went into town earlier to get a few things / expose George to a bit of sunlight because he's beginning to look a bit yellow & I ended up walking around weeing myself in the street. Not fun at all.

frekkles, bless you & your Easter egg disappointment. Make him buy you two on sale now it's past Easter. Everyone's a winner. Don't be terrified - it all seems a lot easier than I thought it would be. Tiring, but not difficult as such. & so worth it, I promise.

Ju, do you have a big t-shirt? That's what I wore

Thanks for the tips WRT pooing, conker. I've not been yet & am in no rush to do so, I must admit. Every hour I don't poo is another hour of healing...

LaurenTheFertilisedEasterEgg61 · 13/04/2009 20:40

yeah they sed that then go in if they get more regular so am writing down how often how long and how painful each one is atm lol... i really just dont feel like its the real thing i thought id know straight away..

why is this birthing shizzle so bloody confusing!!!!!

NuttyBlowUpEasterBunny · 13/04/2009 20:43

Boffin - ooooohhhhh blessed ibuprofen!!!!!! thnaks

Lauren - if the MW's tell you to go in go in, its what they're there for xx

Springy ((big hugs)) xx

Schulte · 13/04/2009 20:44

Congratulations Lou! So they were quite wrong about Isla's weight then... those scans / estimates are really unreliable non?

Had a nice day taking DD for a little waddle. Bit scared about DH going back to work tomorrow though, MIL only coming for one day this week so I'll have to cope on my own with DD for most of the time. Also the initial idea was that PIL would be around from about now until I have given birth, but now there's talk of them going back up to Sheffield on Friday and possibly not being here next week (i.e. the week of my due date). WTF ??!

MIL even said 'tell the baby to come this Thursday' - I mean I am sure she was just joking but STILL???

Like the idea of biological nurturing - so Boff do you find it works? Wonder if it would help prevent sore nipples?

Hope everyone else is doing well!

Schulte · 13/04/2009 20:48

Lauren how exciting - that would explain the nesting!

NuttyBlowUpEasterBunny · 13/04/2009 21:00

Hey schulte glad you had a nice day

lauren you could try using contractionmaster.com xx

OP posts:
SpringySponge · 13/04/2009 21:06

& haha, yes, don't ignore labour - it doesn't go away, even if you don't believe in it

Lauren, use Contraction Master It's easier than writing if you're distracted by pain. I certainly didn't feel like I knew either & was nearly passing out by the time I got to the gas & air.

We were taught about biological nurturing at NCT classes. It's really helpful - it pretty much relies in the baby's instincts, so you can't go wrong. & you can even doze off in that position, too.

SpringySponge · 13/04/2009 21:10

AIBU to be quite upset that DH has posted a picture of me holding George on Facebook WITH MY WOBBLY BELLY HANGING OUT? Not just a little bit. Not like a muffin top sort of thing. Like from about 1-2 inches below my boobs. & everyone's already seen it, so I can't make him take it down. I'm getting an attack of the tired & hormonal & may cry. I know nobody expects me to look fabulous - it was taken last night & I'd given birth the day before. It's a generally bad photo & I'm really pale & tired & spotty on it, but I can live with that. But why would he post that? George isn't even IN that part of the photo - he's by my face! He could've cut it out if he really wanted to use it.

SpringySponge · 13/04/2009 21:13

When I said I can't make him take it down, I mean I could, obviously. But it's pointless now. I'll just have to pretend like I'm really cool with everything & totally confident with the world seeing me in all my post-childbirth glory. It's hanging over my BLACK trousers in it too - there's a lovely contrast to draw attention to its wobbly form

NuttyBlowUpEasterBunny · 13/04/2009 21:15

Springy - maybe hes just proud and wanted to get a pic up ASAP??? men have no idea about whats appropriate when it comes to photos and women wanting to look good in them?? but yep he could have cropped it xx

OP posts:
NuttyBlowUpEasterBunny · 13/04/2009 21:17

Springy ((hugs)) xx dont be , he's just been a bloke and not thought xx

OP posts:
purlease · 13/04/2009 21:17

congratulations to the latest arrivals.

I'm not sure I should continue reading everyones expriences as it is bringing back some memories which are best forgotten - the post birth poo being one of them!

Well I'm off in tomorrow at 8am for induction. Sex, pineapple, curry and long walks have not done the trick. Avoided sweep but sounds like this isn't always successful either.

DD (3)was tapping on bump tonight before she went to bed saying 'come out baby'.

So anyone got experience of being induced? Does it guarantee a baby by the end of the day or could I still have a bit of a wait?

Don't want to skip the queue, Juw

SpringySponge · 13/04/2009 21:17

He put up LOADS of pictures though. It's not only that one. There are actually two with my tummy like that, but my arm's covering more of it in the other one. Sigh.

NuttyBlowUpEasterBunny · 13/04/2009 21:19

ask him to crop it or make sure that any other photos that go up are fully clothed, post birth is a bit of minefield and nobody is at their most confident or looking their best, hopefully he will understand xx

OP posts:
NuttyBlowUpEasterBunny · 13/04/2009 21:21

Purlease- Good luck for tommorow!!

Springy - just ask him to delete them, you will feel better if they're taken off xx

OP posts:
SpringySponge · 13/04/2009 21:30

Good luck, purlease! I'm not sure about induction times, but I imagine it's a lot easier to wait if you have to once you know that things are starting up soon.

& I'll show you the photo, hang on. It'll be of interest to you anyway, Nutty

SpringySponge · 13/04/2009 21:33

Flattering photo!
