OMG Conker, what a nasty thing to say, you MIL I mean.
I hope you are having a nice day out.

Ju - I am totally doing a type of birth analysis. Hell yes.

BB - You are not being unreasonable on any count, it's terribly draining and unfair on the three of you. Sounds very much like my experiences the first week of having DD. I will be polite but very firm this time round. I hope DH is done soon and you manage to have a relaxing afternoon.

PuzzleRocks · 13/04/2009 13:28

Bronze is right about the carpet.

PuzzleRocks · 13/04/2009 13:30

Springy - Maybe that's exactly what I meant.

Claireykitten · 13/04/2009 13:32

Just popping in to say I havent forgotten about you all and HUGE congratulations to everyone who has popped.

Am not getting on the computer at the minute but in genedral we are all ok. We have had to go back into hospital twice now with Violet as she has lost a lot of weight and is jaundiced, first tiem was at 6 days and unfortuantely due to having been through the stress of weight loss with Oscar I was unwilling to put myself and Violet through that stress and caved in and have put her onto bottles which was heartbreaking but I felt the right decision at the time. Since then her jaundice has improved massively (although the poor mite has got impetigo so we have an infectious lurgy baby!) and she had started to put weight back on until yesterday! She has lost wseight again so it was back to the hospital for us re that and also a prolonged jaundice test hopefully we should get some results from that soon and she will start putting weight on. Sorry if that was all garbelled but I am determined that we are going to get out in the "sunshine" today so I am rushing a bit. I will probably be back on here alot more after next week when DH goes back to work but in the meantime I havent forgotten you all.

Claire xXx

PuzzleRocks · 13/04/2009 13:32

Springy - Are you giving him a dose of Infacol before each feed?

PuzzleRocks · 13/04/2009 13:34

Oh Clairey, that must be very stressful. I hope things improve. Take care of yourself and we look forward to hearing more from you soon.

PuzzleRocks · 13/04/2009 13:35

Right, i'm off to sort out my back garden and that DOES NOT mean my fluffy arse Springy.

lou031205 · 13/04/2009 14:25

Congratuations for recent births, popping in to add my story...

Having had regular growth scans since 28 weeks, reduced movements on and off since 34 weeks, and a possible leak at 35 weeks, then a normal scan at 37 weeks, I fully expected to be turned away again at my 38 week scan.

Tuesday 6th April - Scan shows baby weighs 6lb 3oz, just above 10th centile. Fluid 8.6cm, just above 5th centile. Seen by registrar, who suggests induction. Booked for Friday 10th @ 3pm.

Friday 10th April - Arrive on ward at 2.40pm (keen, me?...) and get told how very busy they have been. Midwives still haven't had lunch at 3.30pm. The midwife says she has to 'explain something to me'. I feel a sense of dread as she says that they can't induce....yet. Yet. Yet is OK. Phew. I can stay but will have to wait a few hours until the ward is back to a safe level.

4.55pm, induction can proceed. CTG good. Cervix 3cms long very posterior can only insert 1 finger but is soft. Verdict: UNFAVOURABLE said as the gavel came down. 2mg prostin gel inserted with a warning that more may follow.

Over night contractions strong but not painful, TENS & co-codamol allowed some sleep. VE at 03.00 showed 2cms stretch to 3, posterior cervix.

Saturday 11th April - told that waters would be broken at 06.30, so called DH, but then labouring women arrived, so put on hold.

09.00, CTG good, transferred to Labour ward.

09.30, waters broken, told to go for a walk if I wanted, but to return every half an hour to check baby's heart rate.

Contractions 3 mins apart, 45 secs long. Noticeable, but TENS coping well. No need to breathe through them.

10.00 Heart rate fine. Offered & declined gas & air.

10.15 Another walk, contractions 2-3 mins long, 1 min long, have to stop & breathe through them, TENS turned up higher.

10.45 returned, heart rate good. Gas & air declined.

11.00 About to set off for another walk, when instinct said to stay & have Gas & Air. VE showed 4-5cms, cervix forward. I was disappointed, but Midwife said that it was a huge change from 09.30, because my cervix had been so far back.

12.00 CTG showing decelerations. Doctors called. Concerned baby isn't coping. VE shows 8 cms, so they are reassured. Pressure in bum with contractions.

12.35 Gas & air taken away because I get so drunk on it, and midwife wants baby out ASAP because of decelerations.

12.45 Head is out.

12.49 Welcome ISLA SOPHIA weighing 7lb 9oz!

My midwife is shocked, and wants to know where I managed to hide such a big baby.

Very fortunate labour, no tears or cuts. Feel tender in tummy but fine. Milk has come in and Isla is feeding well.

The unit was so busy that they had to close yesterday, as they had no beds anywhere. We came home at 4.30 yesterday.

BoffinMum · 13/04/2009 15:26

Trying to catch up here.

Could my Felix have a random name as well?

We got Star Stomp Monkeyquake using the generator. Lerve those wrestling names!

BoffinMum · 13/04/2009 15:48

BB, get yourself a Femepad. This is a gel pad you put in the freezer and then use with a little cotton gauze cover on your fanjo area. It will really help. They had them in Mothercare last time I looked.

Springy, to wind a bf baby just sit them up and press gently on their tummy and rub it a bit and generally that does the job unless there's something medically wrong. Pelvic floor problems more difficult esp after intervention - you absolutely have to start exercising it even if you don't think you can feel it (maybe try lying down). Also get it looked at asap and get referred to fanjo physio at the hospital asap (there is rarely a waiting list for these things I am told). I had fanjo physio after no 2 and I have had lovely bits ever since. Secret for healing ladygarden is to wee in the bath with tepid or cool hand shower spraying onto your bits as you do so, then simply Dettox bath a lot afterwards.

frekkles · 13/04/2009 16:08

hey hey hey! I'm back online after letting the laptop dry off for a week (for those that missed the exciting news my dp spilt beer over my laptop a week ago). I'm very pleased with my patience and lack of panic, and hoping to transfer those skills into the world of waiting to give birth and giving birth.

Yes, me still preggers, getting very uncomfortable indeed. Was wildly optimistic this weekend and went off for a night's camping at the beach saturday night. twas agony and i was a very unhappy grumpy girl yesterday. Plus dp forgot to buy me an easter egg, so I cried for hours obviously and considered leaving him and not letting him come to the maternity hospital with me. natrually. pah. am too hormonal.

I believe that we have new babies! congratulations miss sunshine, electra and rachel! I'm inspired that you've done it, i must admit I'm increasingly terrified, not just of the labour but of the baby. it's reassuring to know that it's possible x

much love everyone x

BoffinMum · 13/04/2009 16:21

Welcome back Frekkles!!!

PLEASE could someone tell that Creme Brulee Easter Egg to stop walking over here and feeding itself to me like that. I AM ON A DIET!! I DON'T EVEN LIKE SWEETS NORMALLY!!

Juwesm · 13/04/2009 16:21

Boff - I love Star Stomp Monkeyquake!

Congratulations Lou! Beautiful names and another good sized baby!

After over-optimistically planning 6 mile walk for today, had second thoughts and ended up doing maybe a couple of miles, and then worrying that we'd end up in labour miles from anywhere, so came home again. Plus, DBIL has borrowed my walking boots so was in highly inappropriate shoes for a long yomp on a damp day!

Maybe some very slight crampy pains occasionally, but nothing that makes me think 'hurrah, a contraction'! Nookie seemingly as ineffective as sweeps. Dinner tonight will be castor oil/ chilli/ pineapple/ prostaglandin smoothie!

We've been trying to assemble the moses basket, but cannot make the stupid frilly lining thing and the stupid frilly hood thing fit at the same time! Aaaaaarrrgggh!

Also appears I have no nightwear suitable for labouring at the hospital. At home a planned to be wandering about in the buff, on the whole, but would quite like a nightie for hospital, and I don't have one! Ooops!

PuzzleRocks · 13/04/2009 16:44

Many congrats Lou, you did amazingly well, and no cuts or tears either! And hooray for a good birth weight and a hungry little lady.

LaurenTheFertilisedEasterEgg61 · 13/04/2009 16:51

Hey everyone, just read through, no more babies today i guess?

my mindset has now completely flipped from wanting this baby out NOW to omg ive got too much to do wait in there!!! The nesting big has taken over my life and i will not stop until... well until i pop i spose!! spent 6 hours today mowing front and back lawn and pressure washing patio and every bit of concrete and drive haha! back is absolutely killing but i feel very proud of accomplishing such a nackering task at 9months pregnant!! garden and patio look fab now according to DP i stink of skeggy beach lol!

not had much baby movement today but then ive been on my feet all day with a very loud very vibrative pressure washer in my hand so probably wouldnt have noticed anyway...

ive totally forgotten everything ive just read through and cant remember what else i was going to say ...soorrrryyy

Juwesm · 13/04/2009 17:07

Just having a little pratice post with DH's iPhone!

surprisenumber3 · 13/04/2009 17:10

congrats Lou, that's fab news!

Have had a lovely day. Went for a big long walk along the river and then stopped for a pub lunch, sat a while in the beer garden while the DS's played.

Came home and stole two of the childrens cadbury creme eggs - I really need to have this baby now before I turn into an elephant!!

No more news on MM yet...

NuttyBlowUpEasterBunny · 13/04/2009 18:33

OP posts:
conkertree · 13/04/2009 18:37

congratulations lou - another nice name, and the birth sounds quite relaxed.

boff - you need 500 extra calories a day for bf so the egg will just be providing that for you. its quite considerate of it really.

springy and bb - my best advice for poos post labour is to eat weetabix, drink lots of water, and hold a maternity pad against your stitches when you poo - makes a huge amount of difference.

great day in the sunshine with animals/trains/tractors. wee barbecue for tea. all good but must admit am starting to join the ranks of the fed up. Have been trying very hard to remember I'm not due for another week and half so cant really expect to have it before then, but my resolve is getting lower, and am wishing these BH would turn into something more.

brettgirl2 · 13/04/2009 18:54

Congratulations to lou on the birth of your little one .

So four births on the 11th and nothing since - maybe there will be four tomorrow [hopeful] [hopeful] [hopeful]

I have learnt that my DH's department at work have a sweepstake on when I will pop .

Lauren - the nesting is fun, unfortunately I have now finished nesting so not sure what to do now!

Juwes - I'd have been concerned if I did have suitable nightwear for hospital birthing! I have invested in quite an attractive pair of nightshirts from mothercare. As there are two it means I can chuck one away immediately after and put clean one on. Amusingly I discovered that a friend had bought exactly the same ones haha.

I had quite a nice day, I did sit on a stool for too long and had a very strange 'cervical area' sensation when I stood up but it doesn't seem to have led to any progress yet.

brettgirl2 · 13/04/2009 18:55

Oh and my RL date buddy hasn't had her baby yet either, which has made me feel a bit better lol . What a complete bitch I am!

surprisenumber3 · 13/04/2009 19:09

it's quiet around here lately!

I am having a massive tidy up and clean - the tightenings come back when I rush around but I am grinning and bearing it, have the music on loud as DH has taken the boys out on the bikes/skate boards/to the park so I am singing, dancing and cleaning - if it doesn't make baby come, at least my house will be tidier!!

Not being quite as ambitious as Lauren though

conkertree · 13/04/2009 20:04

surprise - just looking at the due list and see your dss is the same age as your ds1. Does your dss live with you, and if so, do the two get on well? Can see it could be great fun to have another the same age if they get on well.

Sorry if you;ve talked about this before and I've missed it.
