a stone - nothing! I have quite a small bump (not for long..) and I've put on at least two. Just checking in ladies - soon2b, this is so your day - before I head up to hospital. (I bet they have no beds though, so might be straight back)

Will keep you all updated, might be v slow and boring though....

..and if I need any advice, I know who to ask

bye for a bit xx

Kalikaroo · 13/04/2009 07:42

Morning everyone! Well done and many congrats to everyone who has popped!

Yup, you guessed it - still no bloomin' baby! . Will this baby ever come out? Answers on a postcard... (only 10 days late now ). How are my fellow over-duers doing?

Actually feeling VERY grumpy and fed up now (poor DH!) and extremely bored of waiting. I want to cuddle my baby and sniff its head NOW!!!

Oh well, not much I can do (have tried EVERYTHING apart from castor oil and sex, and the reason I haven't tried those is that I don't know where to get castor oil from and DH is too freaked out by the idea of labour to have sex! )

conkertree · 13/04/2009 08:03

good luck mm with the induction - hope they have room straightaway.

poor you kalikaroo - hope something starts soon. How do you feel about being induced?

Congratulations Electra. Look forward to hearing the name. Really need to read these birth stories but havent got time just now - is great to have dh home for a few days - lots of entertainment.

Off to look for something to do today now - might do a random selection of directions and see where we end up - eg pick out a series of directions from a hat. Sometimes it works really well and sometimes we end up just down the road.

brettgirl2 · 13/04/2009 08:33

Congratulations electra on the birth of your little girl.

Kali - I am the newest recruit to the 'overdue' list..... I suppose at least now things do start to move. Probably get sweep on Tuesday, then again the next week and eventually induction if nothing still happens! I'm not negative about induction to be honest - my mum was induced with both of us. In fact I'd go in now if they'd do it!

I'm not convinced that those old wife type tales really make a difference anyway. I've been eating loads of pineapple, but only because it's gorgeous and has been on special offer - I'd still be doing the same if I wasn't pregnant.

I'm going to go to the races today, have done hardly anything recently so this will make a change

Oh and apparently there has been another noroviris outbreak at the hospital, nice

PuzzleRocks · 13/04/2009 08:45

Good morning

Mathsmummy - Good luck today. Can't wait to hear from you.

Mumble - Full birth story please.

Springy - Don't rise to the silly woman's comments. Kill her with kindness.

PuzzleRocks · 13/04/2009 08:53

Soon2be - I would say no, 1 stone is not a lot, because I have put on 2 stone 3lbs. With DD I put on about 4 and a half.

Kali - Poor you. I shall cross everything for you today.

Conker - Have fun.

PuzzleRocks · 13/04/2009 08:57

Congrats Electra, sounds like you made the right decision. Can't wait to see pics.

conkertree · 13/04/2009 09:00

springy - friends of ours were round on Friday and got a bit drunk and at one point told me how mil was telling their mother that she wished dh had married his ex (they split up over 10 years ago and for good reason) instead of me - so have had mil issues this week too. But agree with puzzle about not rising to her - she doesnt have to be around that much so just being nice to her when she's there makes life easier. Not what I want to do most of the time though .

Off to Almond Valley country park - lots of animals that ds loves, a little train ride, tractors, soft play etc - sounds like great fun - pack a picnic and away we go.

Hope there are more births to catch up on when we get back

Bicnod · 13/04/2009 09:03

morning girls, just checking in to say hello and can't believe how many babies have hatched since i last dropped in!

i'm 38 weeks today - hurrah i think bump dropped a bit yesterday - seems a bit lower and had lots of period type pain and stabby feelings in my cervix... fingers crossed this means things are heading in the right direction...

Juwesm · 13/04/2009 09:25

Good morning ladies.

Still no progress here , so am trying to switch my brain into hospital mode for tomorrow. Will have to make some amendments to birth-plan later, and do my hospital bag properly! Final attempts at getting things moving today - off for another long walk this morning. During yesterday's walk felt lots of pressure low down in my pelvis, so thought he might have settled in, but I think he must ping back out as soon as I sit or lie down.

Have lost all faith in the benefits of sweep and stretch after two resulting in Sweet Fanny Adams.

It's getting a bit induction-o-licious around here at the moment! I think we'll be needing a graph (maybe a lovely pie chart!) of 'type of birth' please Puzzle!

Good look today Maths - can't wait to hear how it all goes.

Schulte · 13/04/2009 10:01

Hmmm someone's got to go early now to make up for all the late babies... can I volunteer

Off to have shower and then cook lunch... chicken pie and cheesecake, yum yum.

See you later!

bronze · 13/04/2009 10:05

surprisenumber3 · 13/04/2009 10:42

morning all - good luck today MM and MANY CONGRATS ELECTRA!!

and guess what???......all contractions stopped and about an hour after doing the deed my belly went the softest it's been in days and looks somewhat smaller

So, off for another big walk today!

surprisenumber3 · 13/04/2009 10:43

BabyBunnyBolat · 13/04/2009 12:25

Good morning all - just finished catching up (teaches me to go away for a whole day and a half!!!!)

CONGRATULATIONS Rachel and Electra - yay for more babies!!! Come on MM!!! Juw - maximum only one day to go!!!

Springy - nice birth story - well done you!!! How you doing? MIL can bopp off - silly moo!!

WFH - I think babies are pretty resilient - I know Kara has to be with me as his mother

Did everyone have a lovely easter?

I think we massively over-did it yesterday and we are all feeling a little bit sorry for ourselves today! Sorry am about to have a very minor whinge - feel free to ignore am just going to offload!

We woke up at 6am yesterday so that DH could finish tiling the bathroom before we left for mums (we were supposed to be there at 10am!) Anyway Kara had other plans and would not go down for his nap after breakfast so he was still wide awake at 9am not hungry or tired! he then proceeded to feed constantly while simultaneously pooing after every single nappy change, DH took ages finishing the bathroom (2 hours turned in to 4!) we didn't leave until almost 11 - got to mums, and was literally inundated with people the second we got there (not mums fault just neighbours seeing us arrive! AIBU to think they would let us sit down before coming round - Kara was still in his car seat)

Poor Karahan was past from pillar to post - bless his little cottons every time he opened his eyes he had someone stranger in his face! Then after lunch we had to go 'visiting' so charged around the village visiting people - who like babies to be 'awake' via cheek pinching and talking etc - Again AIBU to think they could be happy just to hold the baby and not try and wake him up!! so he didn't have his afternoon nap, just 20 minutes in the pram!

cue a very very upset baby (after everyone had left mums), a very tired mummy, and a flapping granny who keeps telling me not to do too much!

We had planned to come back and grout the tiles in yesterday so that we could have today as a family but we were so late getting back and we were so tired so DH is now up there now. I decided to tidy the house (because it looked like a bomb had gone off and promptly knocked over a full glass of orange juice on to my beige carpet), GRRR! Anyway the house is tidy but the garden looks like it has been attacked by paint and tile bombs!! I can't wash my hair and I want a bath so very very much!!! I love DH and he is doing so much but everything is taking so long!!! I know IABU with this about this and even worse that I am bitching at DH for no reason when he is giving up time with his son to do the decorating!!!

I am in agony in my fanjo area - think the stitches have dissolved now so the skin is doing it's own thing but feels very very much like the day after giving birth, very tight and painful when any pressure like a big bruise!!

And sorry if this is TMI but just tried to poo and think it was more painful than giving birth!!!

OK am going to stop complaining now - how is everyone else today?

BabyBunnyBolat · 13/04/2009 12:26

Having said all that Kara has just woken up and we are having a massive snuggle so that kind of makes up for it!!! oooh I love this little man!!!

bronze · 13/04/2009 12:59

The only bit I think you're being unreasonable about is complaining about orange juice on your carpet. You've just had a child your carpet will get a lot worse. Just because you know your DH is being a star doesnt mean you're not allowed a grumble because you want a bath etc.
I never want to hold other peoples babies, I think this is partly because of knowing how their mothers feel about it even though I'm quite happy to palm mine off given the chance waking them up is just not done though.

I've just pumped up by birthing ball to discover its about the right size for ds1 to sit on and would overbalance straight away at that height. Am not a happy Bronky

bronze · 13/04/2009 13:00
  • I would
KittyCatIsGettingFat · 13/04/2009 13:02

Ah BB you poor thing... you're doing a brilliant job, so is your DH - it's an adjustment for everyone!! And YANBU to be cross with the village... I can understand that they're all excited for you but they need to realise that Karra comes first... at least they've all seen him now so hopefully it won't be too bad next time...

We're off for pizza with my NCT antenatal group - two have popped, four to go, so I think there will be LOADS of chilli oil and pineapple around the table today...

Chat later!

PuzzleRocks · 13/04/2009 13:15

Happy days. The sun is out, I have tamed my jungle of a front garden, and i'm eating a caramel slice.

Is it bad to mow whilst pregnant?

SpringySponge · 13/04/2009 13:20

Just lost my catch up. Was sending my sympathies & labour vibes to everyone getting impatient. Sorry for everyone who's overdue xx

BB, Kara has an afternoon nap already? George just sleeps all day (with a few hours of feeding) then feeds all night. I'm hoping he'll sort himself out soon, because it's just insane. He won't sleep unless he's being cuddled, too - so it's a 24 hour job.

for your manic Easter xx & the fanjo pain! I'm right there with you xx & I'm terrified about pooing.

SpringySponge · 13/04/2009 13:21

Puzzle, it's impossible to read that without a trace of euphemistic meaning

bronze · 13/04/2009 13:25

Puzzle no worse than going into the attic (step ladder, to pulling self up by the beams) and thats what have planned for this afternoon/.

SpringySponge · 13/04/2009 13:26

My pelvic floor has totally given up. Kaputt. If my bladder gets at all full, I gush wee as well as blood into my pad. Without even knowing. Fantastic. It also really hurts my stitches because there's wee swishing around them. Not sure what to do, as can't so much as twitch down there yet without rolling around in agony. Just have to keep weeing frequently.

Also, George gets a lot of wind with the blue mouth & it can be quite difficult to get up, so feeding takes hours. Any genius suggestions? [hopeful]
