hi folks- didnt end up going on a train as my parents decided to come down and see us which is very nice as havent seen them for a while. 9They are 3 1/2 hours away).

They currently have ds at the park while we had more viewers round - three in a week must be promising.

lauren - i feel your frustration and i a
have 6 days till due date but nothing really helps so will just have to sympathise.

would be perfect timing for this lo to come tonight while my parents are down but of course it couldnt care less what anybody else's time tables are like.

really hope your clunking means something though nutty - thats pretty much what boff described when Felix's head fully engaged so could well be promising.

right steak and guinness pie in oven (have made a lot of these recently) and off to make Nigella's chocolate cloud cake. mmmm

soon2befamilyof4 · 18/04/2009 16:57

Have really buggered my back scrubbing my kitchen . Now half my kitchen is outside in the garden, the kitchen only half done and I can hardly move . Got to go and get DD in half hour too.

surprisenumber3 · 18/04/2009 18:06

Evening all!

Have been on a big shopping trip after not venturing out for a while! Was very painful, had to hang onto DH's arm and walk slowly. Felt a clunk in my pelvis and and a pop in my belly and expected waters to have broke but no! Then went into a baby shop and bought some tiny socks and a couple of sleepsuits and then nearly cried in the middle of the shop because I had forgot to buy my baby a hat!! How ridiculous!

Soon2be - your house is going to be so clean! I'm just about to start on a marathon session on ironing, have been sitting to do it lately but will stand today!
Have bought some EPO and RLT and am going to have a nice bath after the ironing.

Happy DD Lauren and Sarah, mine was yesterday, seems to have gone a bit quiet on the baby front!!

Schulte · 18/04/2009 18:35

Hello hello

Lots of nesting going on eh? I tidied and cleaned the SHED of all places when we got home from the park and washed the windows, then we had a lovely barbecue. Then my mum phoned (we had only spoken yesterday) to say that she had her mobile switched on and with her all the time, just in case I had any news. Grrrrrrrrrrrr. I told her to not expect anything until next Thursday. Bet she's going to phone me every day now until I give birth!

Chocolate cloud cake sounds nice - what is it?

BoffinMum · 18/04/2009 19:35

Yes Conker and Nutty, it felt like a satellite ship docking into the mother ship in my pelvis, quite a final 'thunk' actually. There was no doubt he had fully engaged.

Had a crap day today that should have been nice. Took all 3 boys to the zoo. I cried most of the way round because I had to be in my wheelchair. I miss my old self.

NuttyBlowUpEasterBunny · 18/04/2009 19:36

Purple - being a dude .......dunno its tempting sometimes

Lauren - not now sweety, he will come soon!! promise

Conker - oh lovely that your parents came down and MORE viewings you must be in bathroom cleaner heaven they turn into offers for you. mmmmmm chocolate cloud cake!!!

Suprise - yay you got a clunk too!! (not the most pleasant of thigs i know but it has to be a good sign non?)

Soon2be & Schulte - well done for the mammouth cleaning!!

Carameli · 18/04/2009 19:48

hope all is well here, oh Lauren sorry nothing is happening with you. Got your text, had left my phone at my mums, blame pregnant brain and getting to children into the car

Had a lovely day here. Had a window sales guy( have just about finished major renovation on house) here this morning as want to get a fe old windows and new french doors from living rooom into garden done soon. Feels good to be able to order thme and know they will do them as soon as I feel recovered after lo is born. Then had a sleep this afternoon while dh played with dd and ds and then he took them off to the park on their bikes while I made a yummy chicken saffron risotto.

One problem I do have is that upstairs we want to increase the size of a window so wall underneath the current window will have to be knocked out a bit, meaning a bit of dust. Can be contained as much as possible in that room and will have two doors and a large ensuite separating it from our bedroom with us and new baby.
But what I am wondering is how long to leave it. WOuld love to get it done end June/early July?
Have any of you 2nd/3rd time mums had and work done with a newborn around. I suppose I wonder if its a really bad idea to have dust with a 2mnth old. We can seal it up as much as possible with dust sheets and tape over door as well I suppose. Wondering if I am just being over protective. Should I know better as a third time mum????

BB: I really would not worry about the chicken pox. Ds got it from dd when he was 8wks old after me being told he was immune from bf by every gp or hv I spoke to.
He got a very mild dose and was out of sorts for a few days but all was fine.

Schulte · 18/04/2009 20:43

Hmmm a bit freaked out now, not sure I like the thought of a space ship docking into my pelvis, thank you very much!

I keep thinking of more things that I could clean and tidy though and feel rather energetic but that's probably mostly because I had a lie-in this morning

Hope everyone is having a nice and quiet evening!

Schulte · 18/04/2009 20:45

Oh forgot to say, 4 of the 8 missing stickle bricks have turned up - I found them in DH's walking boots! Wonder where she's hidden the rest though?

And Carameli, I know someone who had an extension built when DS was tiny - not sure how messy that got but I do know they moved out for a little while and stayed with her parents. Not sure if this helps?

Hiya nutty I like the last one. I am definately going to be pregnant forever

tristaleejac · 18/04/2009 21:26

Well that sweep MW did last night has so far caused numerous tightenings, not regular, certainly no pattern or building up strength. Also from about 4 this afternoon had loads of gunk which must be show.
Wish things would just start up properly, grrr.

KittyCatIsGettingFat · 18/04/2009 21:41

Nutty - ditto for the last one... ... although I've spent the whole afternoon cleaning, so maybe SOMETHING is happening!! Doubt it though...

brettgirl2 · 18/04/2009 21:48

Hi all, congratulations to anyone else who has had baby/posted details - sorry I've tried to read but my brain is total mush and I can't remember! I did tell DH to post details but clearly it was too advanced for him!

Just to announce that my daughter Hannah Grace was born at 4.38pm on Thursday 16th April weighing 6lbs 15oz.

Lauren - I understand the due date thing, I was as miserable as hell last Sunday. Your LO will be coming along soon though.

I will post birth story later....

28 more babies to go!!

OP posts:
BabyBolat · 18/04/2009 22:13

Congrats Brettgirl - and welcome Hannah Grace! Can't wait for story and pics!!!

Nutty - oooh sounds like you are fully engaged - My vote is for Monday!!!

I think the nesting is a last-ditch attempt to keep your house clean before the baby arrives because there is NO WAY of ever keeping you house clean once these babies arrived - my house was spotless after my cleaning session yesterday and my parents have just left and honestly it looks like a baby bomb has gone off!!!

Re due date - If I do this again I am going to tell myself and everyone else 2 weeks longer than my official due date so that I don't get too disappointed and I don't have the constant 'is it here yet'!!!

I like the last one too!!

Day has been very uneventful, big walk in to town with my family, nice dinner - Kara has been awake ALL day (with just 2 30 minute naps) and finally went down for a sleep at 6 and is now zonked so hoping it will last throughout the night

Good luck with the tightenings everyone and with the toy hunts!!!

brettgirl2 · 18/04/2009 22:16

Birth story..........

The proceedings I suppose started with a sweep on Tuesday afternoon. In the evening I had a bit of cramping, but nothing significant but on Wednesday walked/cleaned/shopped till I dropped. I went to bed at 10pm feeling fine (although annoyed that I was still pg and nothing was working) and went to sleep. At around 11.30 I woke up with annoying contractions which got harder and more frequent.

I phoned the hospital they told me to take paracetamol and have a bath, which I did but the contractions were getting closer and closer together. DH phoned them again and I went in. At this point (1.30am-ish) I was having contractions every 2 minutes and could hardly walk to the labour ward! I was monitored/given an internal and told that my contractions were too short to be effective and that I was only 1cm dilated (although my cervix was flat and I had had a bit of show). They were concerned however that the baby?s heart rate was dipping too much at times so I was kept in for monitoring.

The same continued for seemingly hours until they started discussing what they were going to do with me. The MW wanted to move me out for someone coming in for an elective CS but the doctor didn?t like the trace and wanted me induced . I had been in fairly significant agony throughout, because apparently my baby was B2B (she had swivelled at the last minute and this was only mentioned on the Tuesday). Therefore this was pretty scary, they were refusing me pethidine due to the dodgy trace and I decided I was going to have an epidural before they put in the drip. However??

At this point I had a second internal because ?you never know? and it turned out I was 6cm dilated so they started to take my ?labour? seriously. Before I knew it the MW had broken my waters and they now allowed me to have at least gas and air. It went on for a few hours and a couple more MWs, eventually my community MW turned up at 2pm for the late shift and it was really nice to actually see someone I knew! I had been allowed some pethadine at about 12 though because the trace by this time had been completely normal for two hours, so I couldn?t actually talk to her when she arrived as I barely knew my own name by this point! It really helped having a familiar face there though, particularly as the added bonus is that I also like her!

Nothing much of note happened (well that I can remember anyway) until the head was tricky to get out at the end and I had to have a cut to help things along. Then two more pushes, and the rest as they say is history .

I?ve just realised that there is loads that I just don?t remember from the pethidine induced haze. I?m not sure that stuff is helpful for good birth stories.

brettgirl2 · 18/04/2009 22:19

I'll try and sort some piccies out for tomorrow, they aren't on my computer!

BabyBolat · 18/04/2009 22:30
