not bad at all =] she'll never know !

soon2befamilyof4 · 17/04/2009 15:36

Can you all help me make a decision? My sisters are buy me the close baby carrier as my present for the new baby (we have already got just about everything else) and they have just asked me what colour. The link is here if anybody has any opinions? I want it to not clash with as many clothes as possible so was thinking cream but thought it might always look dirty and/or get stained easily (and therefore have low resale value).

BabyBunnyBolat · 17/04/2009 15:36

Well I just repainted the skirting boards as the rain ruined them (they look a bit pants now but who really looks at skirting boards!!!) and hoovered so am going to change his nappy now (cue the screaming) which will wake him up enough for a decent feed at least!

BabyBunnyBolat · 17/04/2009 15:37

Soon2be I have the red one and it's lovely - the cream one really does stain and look a bit dirty after a while and I didn't really like the brown one when I saw it at the baby show - the charcoal one is lovely too - they are all nice! What colour clothes do you wear the most?

BoffinMum · 17/04/2009 15:40

Soon2be, it's machine washable so the natural one might work.

BabyBunnyBolat · 17/04/2009 15:49

the little bugger has just filled 3 nappies in a row!! one mid change and now another as he is feeding!!! grrrrr!!!

PuzzleRocks · 17/04/2009 15:49

I am drinkiing champagne and eating shed loads of pate.

MM - Can't wait for your story and pics.

What happened to the rest of Mumble's story?

Trista - Good luck with the flat. Sorry about the MLU.

Nutty - Great news about the PE, or lack of.

Bumpalump - I hope you heal quickly, sending you best wishes.

FreshHell - Sorry to hear about your day so far. That's the thing about these early weeks, you can be on top of the world one minute an in a pit the next. Hopefully tomorrow will be better.

soon2befamilyof4 · 17/04/2009 15:53

I wear all sorts of colours! Lol. Mainly jeans on the bottom half and then whatever top with it. I know it can be washed but if it gets a stain on then it might not come out? Its annoying, I tried one on at the baby show but knew I wasn't going to buy there and then so didn't even think about colours while I was there!

I do already have a cream ring sling though so maybe something different would be nice? I mainly want it so I can BF in it which I never managed in the ring sling. Having a DD so young I want to have as much freedom to play with her as possible.

Do you think the birthing centre/midwife would help me with getting the position BF in the sling right if I pack it in my hospital bag?

Another thing on my mind - DD has just got a stinking cold - constant green snot running down her face - will they still let her in to visit do you think?

Speaking of hospital bags - how big are all your bags? Mine is pretty big and I thought it was ok till I showed my mum and sister yesterday (so they knew where they were if they needed to grab) and they were both very [shocked] at how big it was! But the thing is, I want everything that is in there! Last time, people had to keep bringing me stuff and it was all the wrong stuff. So all my pictures in hospital are of me in PJs that are way too small and old and tatty with my boobs hanging out of them, uncomfortable clothes for leaving day etc and I jsut thought it would be easier to make sure I have everything this time?

PuzzleRocks · 17/04/2009 16:15

Carameli - I have a spider toddler too. It's amazing what they can get into.

Purple - I just read your long post. What a shitty day. Are you feeling any better this afternoon.

Soon2be - I took DH's large sports bag.

conkertree · 17/04/2009 16:22

puzzle - the champagne and pate sound fantastic - am very

conkertree · 17/04/2009 16:24

bb - sorry but had to laugh at ds filling 3 nappies in a row - thats quite an achievement - in the same class as projectile pooing

BabyBunnyBolat · 17/04/2009 16:30

Wouldn't have minded but the second one was only a little poo but it felt like the dregs iykwim so decided to change for a clean one anyway - I swear he was just waiting for a clean nappy - he was awake for 4 hours this morning and now is just zonked - makes me laugh but know I will regret it tonight!!!

Hospital bags - mine was huge and I didn't use hardly any of the stuff inside and still needed people to bring me stuff in (like clean PJs after I vomed all over mine!) so I would take whatever you feel comfortable in and don't worry how big it is!

oooh champagne and pate - I just had marmite on toast - not quite the same!!!!

bronze · 17/04/2009 16:32

Are you on the washables now bb?

Even my tiniest ones are too big for Isaac.

BabyBunnyBolat · 17/04/2009 16:35

I think they make babies cute so that you have to forgive them for the crying and pooing!! he is asleep on my tummy with his mouth wide open snoring like a trooper and all I want to do is give him lots of kisses!!! 10 minutes ago I may have given him away to the circus as the new projectile pooing freak show!

Bleuravin · 17/04/2009 16:36

i'm using washables now with meg; after her umbi stump fell off we felt the size wasn't a big deal (using little lambs)

BabyBunnyBolat · 17/04/2009 16:38

Yeah I am started on them last weekend - they are really good, had a couple of leaks in the early days but he is filling out now so all good. (I had many more leaks in the newborn disposables though!) How big is Isaac now? Kara is almost 8lbs so they are fitting much better! They do look s big on him compared to the disposables though - his little legs and body come out either end with this big round bottom!

BabyBunnyBolat · 17/04/2009 16:39

How did it go Bleu?

Bleuravin · 17/04/2009 16:41

alright; I'm on more pills...
I just laid meg off to the side on a quilt; doc was very quick to have a look since she was fussing a bit.

BabyBunnyBolat · 17/04/2009 16:43

Is it mastitis?

Did they make you feel any better about things at all?

Bleuravin · 17/04/2009 16:44

mastitis yes

said the same ol' stuff about the breastfeeding...

BabyBunnyBolat · 17/04/2009 16:45

You are getting lots of advice but what do you want to do with the feeding issue sweets?

Bleuravin · 17/04/2009 16:49

'what to do?' you ask as I fight once more with my dear child... sigh perservere I guess...2 weeks down and only 4 more before it supposedly gets better...

BabyBunnyBolat · 17/04/2009 16:57

Bleu, I know this will probably cause debate and I am hoping I don't offend anyone but honestly there is no shame in formula feeding if it keeps you sane - yes I think personally you should persevere a little while longer as you want to bf but if it gets to the point where you are getting so stressed about it I think you should consider ff. its not failing, in fact if mentally and physically you and meg are stronger for it then I think that is only a good thing I just don't think you can go on for another 4 weeks of this - or even try mixing the two (again I know people will disagree and I am not pretending to be an expert on the issue!)... just a thought xxx

Bleuravin · 17/04/2009 17:02

i will say that we have given 2bttles of formula... both times i just couldn't get her on and when i tried to express nothing came...

cannot really afford to ff..

WhatFreshHellIsThis · 17/04/2009 17:07

Bleu if you have mastitis that will make the pain much worse, I remember it was agony feeding DS1 when I got it. As soon as those antibiotics start working I reckon you might be a lot more comfortable feeding.

The other thing is that feeding is one of the best ways of clearing the mastitis quickly, so for the moment at least it's the best thing.

Poor you though, mastitis makes you feel rotten doesn't it? Try to get lots of rest, sending you lots of ()()()()()()()()
